=============================================================================== | Xenosaga-Episode 1: Der Wille Zur Mach | | Skills FAQ/Chart (US/NTSC edition of the game) | | Written by myself Crazy4Metroid with feedback from Jolostuki | | Date Started: 06-01-2009 | | Date Completed: 06-14-2009 | | Date Last Updated: 06-17-2009 | | Version 1.2 | =============================================================================== =============================================================================== | Table of Contents | =============================================================================== | Section 1: Introduction | Section 2: Legal Information | Section 3: List Of Authorized Host Sites | Section 4: How to use this guide | Section 5: Accessory Locations | Section 6: Skill Charts | Section 7: Detailed Instructions | Section 8: Credits | Section 9: Contact Information | | =============================================================================== ======================== Section 1: Introduction| ======================== Hi Im Crazy4Metroid. Although my username may make it seem like I am a Metroid Fan, which I am, I am also a fan of RPGs like the Xenosaga trilogy. I noticed a problem in Xenosaga-Episode 1 quite a while ago. There are so many accessories in the game that it can be difficult to remember if a given skill has been extracted for a given character. The game gives you no method of discerning this in the skills extraction menu. All accessories that have had their skills extracted are shown as grayed out, but so are those accessories that you don't currently have enough skills points to extract skills from. How can you tell them apart without browsing through your list of extracted skills looking for one specific skill to see if it has been extracted? The simple answer is that you can't. Also, browsing through the whole list looking for a single skill can get a bit laborious. This is especially true as the list gets longer and longer. The skills in this list aren't listed in any specific order, so unless you know where to look, it can be hard to spot a skill that you are trying to find. I designed this skills extraction chart quite a while ago. It's purpose is to help players identify what skills they have and haven't yet extracted. =============================================================================== ============================= Section 2: Legal Information| ============================= This FAQ/Chart is primarily my own handy work with feedback and information provided by Jolostuki. This document is copyright to me and all rights are reserved. It is alright if you choose to share this FAQ with others, just share it in it's original form. You can also share the download URL for the document. When sharing the FAQ, please credit myself Crazy4Metroid for it's origins and Jolostuki for any info he contributed. =============================================================================== ========================================= Section 3: List Of Authorized Host Sites| ========================================= Below are the sites that I have currently granted permission to host this FAQ. Gamefaqs.com Neoseeker.com Supercheats.com ================================================================================ ================================= Section 4: How to use this guide| ================================= To use the chart, just place the letters shown in the legend in the character columns. You may want to place the letter "U" in all columns if you are using this chart with a newly started gamesave. Otherwise, just fill in the blank spaces with what ever letter best indicates the status of each skill, then update the lists as you progress through the game. =============================================================================== =============================== Section 5: Accessory Locations| =============================== Below is a list of all the character accessories that carry extractable skills. I researched all the accessory locations myself by carefully scouring the Strategy Guide Bradygames published for Xenosaga 1 and by going through the game afew times. Most accessories are fairly easy to find while others are a bit more difficult. While researching the locations of the accessories, I identified about sixteen accessories that I felt may be somewhat difficult to find. I have listed detailed instructions for these sixteen accessories in section six below. The accessories in question are flagged with a note number like this "See note 01 in Detailed Instructions below." Section 7: Detailed Instructions| ================================= Note 01: Just past the spot where you see the bunny harvesting Carrot Juice, keep following along the main path as it goes up a slope, past a tree in the foreground, and down a rocky slope. Keep going along the path as it goes up another slope and across a log bridge. Follow the path as it winds down around the stump at the end of the log bridge and past a Basilisk Gnosis. Once you get around that curve in the path, you will come to a fork where you can either head south along the main path or west along a secondary one. Choose to go west to where a Kobold Gnosis is waiting. Defeat the set and continue to what looks like a dead end. You should notice that you can lock on to a small tree ahead of you. Destroy it to reveal a weak spot in the rock wall behind it. Destroy the weak spot in the wall and enter the tunnel it reveals. You'll come to another spot where you can blast through the wall. Blast through and continue along the shallow pond. Follow the water filled path past the log bridge you crossed earlier and go around the back to a hidden tunnel that will bring you to another weak spot in the rock wall. Blast through that one and then destroy the large rock to reach the chest containing the Blue Topaz. Note 02: When you reach the room where you need to jump down to the satellite dish where Proto Dora is fought, go east from the door that you came through. Destroy the two objects that you come to and enter the hidden passage behind them. Keep going until you come to a set of eight grey canisters. Destroy the right most canister in the front row, then destroy the one directly behind it to find the chest holding the Chakra Shield. If you have already jumped down to the satellite dish and defeated Proto Dora, head up the ladder at the end of the catwalk and take the door to the left of the ladder. Go through the door and the next one after it. In the room beyond the door, take an immediate right turn and go through the door in the bottom right corner of the room. That door will take you back into the room from which you originally entered the Satellite Dish room. Make your way back and follow the instructions from the entrance of the Satellite Dish room to reach the Chakra Shield. Note 03: After exiting the mall and climbing down the ramp, you will come to a fork where you can go either east or west. If you go west, go past the rocks that you must destroy to continue on the main path and you will come to another fork where you can keep going west or turn towards the south. Go south until the path starts to turn to the east. If you choose to go east from the exit of the mall, just follow the path as it turns south and then west. Regardless of which direction you head in, you should come to a destroyable box that has a Fairy Gnosis wandering near it. Destroy the box to get the Clock Shield. Note 04: To get the Coat Fire, continue on the main path until you come to a fork in the second area where you can continue heading east on the main path or turn north into a small alcove where there is a small destroyable object. There should be a sign that say something like "Ariadne Central Shopping Mall" on the outside of the alcove. Keep going east along the main path until it begins to turn south where there will be another fork. This time your choices will be to keep going south on the main path or turn east. Go east and follow this path as it turns north and then west to go behind a large reddish sign with images of fish on it. There should be a weak panel that you can lock on to, destroy and open the blue chest to claim the accessory. Note 05: To get the Cross, take the north passage from the save point inside tower 2 of the Song of Nephilim. Keep going until you come to a destroyable purple canister, destroy it to claim the cross. Note 06: To reach the Defibrilator Vest inside the Song of Nephilim, take the northwest passage from the save point in tower 2. Climb down the ladder to level 3 and head east past the first ladder you pass and climb down the second one. That ladder will lead you down to level 2, there backtrack west and go past the first ladder again. Climb up the second ladder and back to level 3. Once back on level 3, head east again until your path is blocked by several red destroyable boxes. Destroy the second one to get the Defibrilator Vest. Note 07: To reach the Defibrillator Vest that's inside Proto Merkabah, go down the staircase at the start and take the path that leads north. Follow it all the way to it's end and destroy the structure against the wall to reveal the chest with the Defibrillator Vest. Note 08: To reach the Field Ring, take the west exit from the entrance of Tower 3. Continue until you come to a ladder that you can climb down. Climb down to the first landing and destroy enough column sections to lower the bridge so you can cross the gap. Make your way across the gap and destroy the purple barrel to acquire the Field Ring. Note 09: Towards the end of the Cathedral Ship, you will come to a room with several cubicles, sort of an office. The chest holding the Magical Hat is in the southeast most cubicle. Note 10: To get the Neo Armor , follow the instructions for the Defibrillator Vest in Note 06 above. The Neo Armor is inside the third destroyable box. Also, note the fourth destroyable box. Be careful, as there is an extremely powerful enemy called the Athra 26 Series hiding inside it. This monstrosity drops Decoder 2 when defeated, however it can demolish your entire party if you're not prepared. Release the Athra 26 Series at your own risk. Note 11: To reach the Red Topaz, go down the stairs by the save point inside the train station. Destroy the vending machine blocking the stairs that lead down to the train tracks, go down the stairs and up the ramp to your left. Follow the path until you come to a vending machine that is standing upright. Destroy it and open the blue chest to claim the accessory. Note 12: To get the Soldier's Honor follow the instructions for the Defibrilator Vest in Note 06 above. However, make a slight detour after initially climbing down to level 3, Instead of going past the first ladder on level 3, climb it back up to level 4. At the top will be a purple canister that you can destroy. Inside this canister is the Soldier's Honor. Note 13: To get the Spirit Pendant on the Elsa, first go to the southern most cabin on floor one and search around the middle of the curved orange couch for the "Disarm Key". Once you get the disarm key head down to basement 2 and look for an area that has sections seperated from the main deck. That is the slide deck and there should be a console on the south side. Examine the console and you will automatically unlock the slide deck. Now examine the console again and you will be asked if you wish to press the button. Go ahead and press the button, this will cause the two seperated areas to extend and connect to the main deck. Enter the area to the left and go down the staircase. This will lead into into a partitioned off room in the back of the Catapult deck. The Spirit Pendant is in one of the destroyable objects. Also, the accessory must be acquired either before or after the auto-tech invasion of the Elsa. It is substituted with an ordinary consumable item during the auto-tech invasion. Note 14: Return to the church via the EVS after defeating Tiamat and go into the room where you fought the boss. You'll find a blue chest containing the Star Hat in the room now. Note 15: To reach the Venom Block, keep following the main path in the train station until you come to a train car you can enter. Here you will have a choice to two directions to go in. You can turn left and blast through the end of the car or turn right and head to the opposite end of the car. Turn right and exit the car at the opposite end. Here go around the car to a ladder against the back wall and climb it. At the top of the ladder go to the left and keep going until you come to a destroyable object. Destroy it and watch as it knocks down a blue chest, backtrack to the chest and open it to claim the Venom Block. Note 16: To get the Wooden Idol, first go up the stairs inside the Our Treasure Hotel, then go into the room to the right of the stairs and all the way to it's right side. Here you will find a destroyable bookcase. Destroy it and go through the tunnel which will put you on the second floor of the Ironman bar. Press the flashing red button on the console in the back and then backtrack through the hotel and enter the bar from it's main entrance. Inside the bar, go behind the counter to reach the chest containing the Wooden Idol. Special Note: You can shop at the Elsa's silver shop plate just before diving into the KOS-MOS encephalon. After you enter the ship through the cargo elevator, take the passenger elevator back up to floor 1 and head to the shop plate. =============================================================================== =================== Section 8: Credits| =================== I wish to thank Jolostuki for the feedback he provided via E-mail while this FAQ was still under construction. Originally, this FAQ was nothing more than a chart with all skills in one huge list. It was Jolostuki who suggested that it be broken up into several smaller charts with the skills arranged by level. He also suggested that the individual skills also be separated by extra lines, and that it would be a big help if accessory location info was included. I originally wasn't interested in taking the time to research the data myself. I just didn't have the patience to do all that. My initial reluctance to research the location info was do to me not wanting to go through FAQ after FAQ after FAQ looking for info without knowing how accurate or relevant it is. It seemed like researching the locations was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Jolostuki had informed me that he was working on accessory location information for a FAQ he was working on. Although he had offered to share the information with me onc it was done and I had accepted his offer, I eventually decided to pull out my copy of the game's strategy guide and research the accessory locations in it. I also wish to thank Bradygames for the strategy guide they published for this game. It was a huge help with regards to researching the locations of the accessories. If it wasn't for that guide, this FAQ probably wouldn't have the accessory location info. Last of all, I wish to thank Namco and Monolith Software, Inc. for developing and releasing Xenosaga-Episode 1. Without their handy work, none of the other guides and FAQs out there would even exist. =============================================================================== =============================== Section 9: Contact Information| =============================== If you have any feedback or information you feel would be beneficial for this FAQ, you can E-mail me at ezeldachamp <at> gmail <dot> com. ===============================================================================
