Hello! I am Damir Kolar and I welcome you to my new project. Unlike battle
arenas in previous WA installments, where most of the time you were to win
using brute strength, battle arena in WA4 is fun! Yeah, there are battles where
your strength comes into play, but some of the battles may potentially be tough
to figure out. So welcome to Battle Arena Guide!

05.)                         BATTLE ARENA - G0500

Battle Arena is located within Guara Bobelo on F3. Once there, you will be
presented with 30 challenges - each costs a certain fee to be entered. When the
fee is paid, you need to defeat all enemies in order to clear the challenge.
Sometimes brute force alone will not be enough, and you will need to employ a
different tactic to win the challenge.

If you escape or are defeated in battle, you do not receive a game over - but
you don't get your gella back either. Aside from awards received for single
challenges you win, you also receive some awards after having cleared
predetermined total of challenges (if a challenge is cleared, a gold star will
appear to the left of entry fee):

10 challenges won: Silver Sun
20 challenges won: Alter Parts
30 challenges won: Goat Doll

For the first challenge this guy is fairly strong. It uses Storm Blade (strong
wind magic) only, so dig yourself for that wind LP. Using magic against Pazuzu
is a bit risky, since there's 80% chance it'll be nullified. Slow Down would be
your first priority, followed by Shut Out so it doesn't move out. If it comes
to worst, give Raquel Goat Doll, and when she falls, she'll be revived at 1 HP,
getting next turn immediately. Follow with Intrude and smite Pazuzu into
oblivion.

Some protection against petrifying effects would be cool to have. Oddly, as
flying bozo, it has earth active property (flying enemies are usually weak to
earth instead), and has wind weakness. Remember that you cannot heal your
wounds or revive fallen chrs cos of disease status in hexes. As you see, Yulie
begins the battle in wind LP, thus making this a cinch. Use Material twice and
you win (Vorrac likes to Auto-Guard, thus halving the damage it takes from wind
summon).

Ick - poison! Not even Sheriff Star's effects will prevent poison damage from
biting in, so you will need to act quickly. For starters, cast Fragile on it to
cancel Hard property Azhi has (not a problem for Raquel to bypass), and then
pelt it with magic/physical attacks. If you bothered moving Yulie out of water
LP, she can heal the team with Code O Material (or have Jude use Mystic on a
Berry). Take poison damage twice before you'll need to heal; note that Raquel
with Goat Doll combo will not guarantee easy victory for you in this battle.

You have 15 turns of time to smite down all enemies. If you don't succeed and
as soon as one of Balaos gets a turn, it'll cast Reject to end the battle. Use
Blast to smack off Balao on [hex 6], Jude's long range OC to smack off Balao on
[hex 1], and have Raquel move in to kill Balao on [hex 2].

It is a must that Jude knows Item Steal, as this battle cannot be won
otherwise. Like in previous challenge, you need to defeat Nosferatu within 15
turns, or it'll cast Reject to end the battle. Don't play fancy - wait for
Jude's turn, use Item Steal to nab Phantasm Heart from Nosferatu, and on next
turn use Phantasm Heart on the enemy. Victory!

Anything you try against the enemy, it will have no effect... so what's the
secret behind the scenes? You need to be lucky and achieve a critical strike
against the enemy. King's Crown guarantees first hit to always be critical, but
do you have one, or even three of them? If you don't, you'll just have to be
patient and keep attacking, hoping for critical to occur.

Another tough guy which reduces physical damage by a %... move Arnaud into fire
LP, and then cast Quicken on fire LP as well, so Arnaud goes faster. When you
kill one Ose with fire Blast, the other will Divide to create another Ose.
Luckily the newcomer will start in the same hex, so just have Arnaud use
another fire Blast and they're gone. Alternately, you could have Yulie use fire
Material.

12 enemies to take care of - that's a lot. The secret is... each time you kill
one of Chupas, it will counter with Agony Effect. So - do *not* use any moves
which would wipe out the whole enemy set, or you'll be looking at twelve Agony
Effects. BTW, if you kill Chupas via the way of counters, they will *still* use
Agony Effect. The other danger is Focused Fire move, which orders all remaining
Chupas in hexes surrounding the target to move immediately afterwards; imagine
a chr in middle hex get bombarded by 12 attacks in a row... nasty, I tell you.

Having Castle Wall and Goat Doll is handy, as well as turning GC graph in favor
for as much HP as you can hold. If turn order is lucky and Arnaud gets a turn
before any Chupas from [hex 1] can move, use Shut Out on that hex to
temporarily eliminate their advancement. Conveniently we have no fire LP, but
you can use Yulie's Sanctify, for Chupas are undead enemies. Then as soon as
Yulie gets a turn, use Sanctify on Chupas in [hex 6]. Get Agony-countered four
times for about 5000 dmg (Castle Wall nulls first hit, you survive second hit,
third kills you, Goat Doll revives you once, fourth hit kills you again).

The result is [hex 6] cleared of Chupas and enemy ranks thinned, while you're
likely to have one or three chrs KO-ed (depends on Goat Dolls and Castle Walls
you took). Revive fallen chrs, and proceed like this... Extend on [hex 1] to
prevent Chupas from exiting, and then Isolate on [hex 2] so space them out
between [hex 7] and [hex 6]. Kill as necessary, while being careful not to
forget reviving your chrs, and then repeat the process on [hex 1] Chupas to win
this battle.

Move to fire LP quickly and cast Protect on it! Both of Rider's attacks are
very strong. Flame Burst hits the target hex and all adjacent hexes around it
as well, and being in fire hex will halve the damage for you. When you decide
to tackle Rider, be sure to be at full HP, as it's likely to counter by using
Flame Burst at you. Use Hi-Sanctify to potentially OHKO it.

For as long as Diefighter is standing in any LP, it will not be defeated; also,

This is an easy challenge. Use Sanctify spells to OHKO Bombs or use magic
spells against them. FCA also work nicely, but do remember that physical damage
is reduced by 60% (Bomb has Soft attribute). Now, here's where the danger is...
if Bomb's HP is low, it will trigger seld-destruct countdown. Once it reaches
next turn, it will deal 9999 universal damage to nearby hex, also killing
itself in the process. If you're nowhere around it, you won't be harmed.

Another one of challenges where only a few ways seem to be the right way. As
long as you don't touch Wills, they will leave you alone and continue to pass
turns. One way of knocking them out is having Yulie learn Sacrifice (either by
leveling or investing GC points, and then blasting target hex with Sacrifice
(take care that Yulie's HP is at max). Wills in target hex go bye-bye. Heal
Yulie back to full and repeat the exercise until they're all gone. Certain FCA
(like Kindred Souls) also work on Wills.

Check Will's stats - most of them are in 999s, not to mention it sports highest
SPDF of any enemy in the game. Anything else you may try to use against Wills,
it will result in missing or dealing zero damage, then facing you with super
strong counters.

Jude's skills are the best against flying enemies, but in each solo duel you'll
have a nasty trick. Vesper has Insect Breath, which lowers Jude's HP to 1 only.
Get another smack on afterwards, and it's buh-bye for Jude (maybe have Goat
Doll handy). Jude has innate Resist Wind PPS, and is just what the doctor
ordered for Sky Twister. If by the time Jude reaches a turn he has amassed 25+
FP, Mystic Break to kill all Vespers at once, otherwise shoot them down one by
one until victory.

Poison protection is welcome. While Maidens are machines (Short Circuit), you
may have problems launching an attack of because of ARM malfunctioning, not to
mention Maiden't ability to block your normal attacks. Maiden's Executioner
will pulverize you, if you're struck often without healing inbetween. You may
want to consider taking over water LP and then Mystic Freeze twice to take them
all out at once.

Confusion protection is a must. Head's normal attack has a chance of petrifying
you, but with 0%, so I dunno what's the trick. Set foot into fire LP to halve
Cremation's damage, and then start knocking them down (Assault Buster would be
best option). If they keep wasting turns for Moss to work, there's more time
for you to kill them.

A tough challenge. Hyperion recovers 5% of own HP on each turn it gets, and it
will usually counter with Magic Drain when you hit it with damaging magic. To
start with, Shut Out on Hyperion in water LP, then take over fire LP and spam
Blast from there until locked Hyperion bites the dust. The one remaining is now
much more manageable (Arnaud's high EVA will keep you at bay for some time).

Keep blasting them with magic, but note that if Aur is in adjacent hex when

Haborym's attacks aren't terribly strong, and Raquel's innate Resist Fire PPS
will cut Cremation's damage. You're better off equally reducing both Haborym's
HP to a low amount, and then offing both of them at once. If you leave one
Haborym around, it may summon additional one. Absorb is another problem to
consider, because if you're left with no MP, OC can't be used, so maybe
equipping a badge that recovers MP could be handy; or use Hi-Freeze items.

This... is my boomstick! Fox has Dispel, so don't throw out too much status
spells. Also get out of LP to avoid being slaughtered by element magic. Just
get Jude close to Fox, cast Slow Down on it, and Quicken on Jude; then it's
just a matter of Assault Buster and kissing Fox goodbye (if you'll be using
magic, use Blast from regular hexes, as Fox halves all element damage).

Here's the karate kid. Haaai-yah! It's a very speedy turtle and most of its
attacks are OHKO. I wouldn't bother with normal attacks, as Vodi can block them
with ease, so use OC instead. As far as magic goes, Vodi will counter with Dark
Iron if it takes damage while you're in nearby hex. Replace or Isolate Vodi in
one of border hexes (possible fire or water LP), and then surround the
neighboring hexes so it has nowhere to move, while position Arnaud far away
from the turtle. While Arnaud is sending Blast greetings, guard with blocking
chrs until they're KO-ed or you win, whichever comes first. Assault Bust-ing
its ass may also yield victory.

Element magic won't work on Doom, so use Blasts from regular hexes if you'll be
assaulting with magic. If Doom Hypers itself, Replace it so you get the bonus
instead. Missile packs a punch, but Illusion in place will reduce the hit
potential. Hi-Heal is laughable, so don't worry about it. To remove Hard
property temporarily, cast Fragile on Doom; Raquel won't have problems busting
it up thanks to Smash Hit PPS she knows. Lower Doom's RFX and increase Jude's
to OHKO it with Assault Buster.

An extremely tough battle, mainly thanking to Backsplash ability. Any attack
you use against Bad News has a potential of being canceled and returned to the
attacker, who suffers damage instead. Also, if Bad News uses Whip move, that'll
cause Focused Fire effect. You'll need to grit your teeth and hope for luck to
be on your side.

To start with, get rid of one of Bad News in either [hex 2] or [hex 6]. Once
target is chosen, Slow Down on it, followed by Quicken on Jude's hex. Jude uses
Assault Buster, and if Backsplash won't trigger, you just killed first Bad
News. Then knock out the other Bad News from hexes I mentioned above, leaving
only the last Bad News in [hex 4], who will follow the same fate soon.

Have confusion protection, for you seriously don't wish to be shooting
yourself. I recommend having Castle Wall and Goat Doll equipped in addition. Of
five moves King has, three are non-offensive, so you have good chances to not
be attacked. King is prone to use Moon in first turn, so Castle Wall will null
the damage. Shut Out on King to keep it in wind LP, then Slow Down, and finally
Extend; meanwhile Yulie Quicken on Arnaud to get him more turns. Note that King
may Quicken itself as well, so be sure to reapply Slow Down if that happens.

Pandemonium will be shooting past you, so all ya need to worry about is Moon
and Hi-Blast (spread chrs across hexes so only one is hit at a time). Recover
HP via Yulie's heal Material or Jude's Mystic. King can be offed pretty much as
everybody else - Slow Down and Fragile on King, Quicken on Jude, and then
Assault Buster forever.
