Introduction Hello. My name is Brendan Walsh. Some may know me as MoonSoo. Don't ask about the Fatdonkey thing. That was a while back. -_- Anyway, this here is my very first FAQ, and I decided to base it upon Urban Reign for the Sony Playstation 2.. Why? Well, to me, Urban Reign is one of the most underrated games out there right now. My friend and I always enjoy playing the game in Challenge mode. I think the game's greatest shine is the gameplay. It has one of the best physics I've ever seen in a game. But let's get to the point. I've always been wanting to make an FAQ for quite some time. And Urban Reign is probably the game I'm best at thus far. Pretty soon, I might make a Warriors FAQ, that is, if they accept it. I'm such a sucker for Beat 'em Ups. :D So right now, I'm going to try my best to have all of you fans appreciate my first FAQ as much as I can. And who knows? It may actually be good. ^_^ What I'm mostly going to concentrate on are the characters themselves. Their strengths and weaknesses. What weapon(s) is good for him/her. Their rating. All that jazz. Well, let's get started shall we? Oh, and have fun. :D - MoonSoo. P.S. Oh, and I almost forgot. This FAQ should only be found in GameFAQs ONLY. If I find this FAQ anywhere else, well, then it's not going to be pretty. Unless ofcoarse you get my permission. -_- So please, no one steal this. I don't want to be dealing with copyright laws. =============================================================================== 3. READ FIRST!!! If this is your first time to Urban Reign, or are new to it, then read this. A few guidelines for the beginners in Urban Reign. a) Make your difficulty on either Easy or Very Easy for first-timers! I'm the type of guy who usually plays in Normal or Hard mode, even if it is my first time playing. But after about a half an hour on playing Urban Reign in Hard, I felt like I was going to kick my tv. And I usually rock in Beat 'em ups. So yes, make your difficulty atleast on easy for your first time. Urban Reign has this thing where the opponents are either punching bags or being Rocky Marciano. Especially when there's more than one of the. You may be having fun at one point, but wait until you get up to the major type characters. b) Do not play this game if you want a deep storyline. Or atleast rent the game. Basically, this game is all about gameplay. The storyline in the game is very... how should I say this, non-existing. Yes, there is a storyline in the game, but it's very weak. So if you want a game with awesome gameplay, then this game is for you. If you want a game with an awesome storyline only, don't bother with this game. c) Try to have a friend play with you. Believe me, the multiplayer in this game is incredible. While it may lack a co-op mode *grumble grumble*, this game has an outstanding multiplayer action in both Multiplayer and Challenge mode. And the double teams are sick! So, if you have any friends out there with you, HAVE THEM PLAY WITH YOU!!! Thank you and have a nice day. ^_^ d) What to do after you beat the storyline. Like many games, Urban Reign is packed with unlockables. Nothing really big though. Just a bunch of secret characters (more than 60!!) and a few new modes to play in. e) Play Story Mode FIRST If you go right into multiplayer mode, you're not going to have much of a fun time. Don't worry. Story mode is just 100 missions... No, it's shorter than it sounds. Then after you unlock quite a few people, then you can try unlocking more once you unlock free mode when completing story mode as well. =============================================================================== 4. The combos in this game are a must. If you just push the circle button randomly, you could easily be defeated. Just like in Tekken and Soul Calibur, there is a juggle system. The juggle system can be both easy to do, and very hard to initiate. Once you launch your enemy in the air, then what? What combo will you perform? This is where Urban Reign begins to really shine. Unlike games like Mortal Kombat Deception, and such (and I'm not bashing it for all of you MK fans out there), this game has many different moves that you can perform in a juggle. So much variety in the juggles. One thing you should know about combos and juggles. An enemy can begin to dodge in the middle of a juggle or a combo. And if you are caught in a combo or juggle, you'll have to push the dodge button (square), except it has to be more precise, meaning that you have to dodge within the frame the opponent hits you. c) Character strengths and weaknesses Every character in Urban Reign has strengths and weaknesses, just like in real life. Even the over-powered, juiced up Golem has a weakness, but we'll get into that later. Whether it may be =============================================================================== 5. There are 4 different directional attacks. Up. Down. Left/Right and Neutral (no directional at all). Same goes with Special Arts and Grabs. c) Specials/SPA A special meter is indicated right below your health meter. Each directional will differ the amount of your special needed. How do you gain more of your special? Either just beat the crap out of your opponent, dodge his/her attacks, or take damage. Just like Attack, Specials have four different directionals. The neutral special (pushing triangle and circle only) pushes back enemies that are close to you. d) Charge-Up One special that every character in the game has. Whether it may be Golem, or Em Cee, every one has this special. This SPA will help your character status in any way. There are 4 different SPA's and every character only has one. These SPA's will differ pending on who you are using. To initiate SPA, push down and Special (Triangle and Circle). Your character will charge up in whatever SPA he has. This requires 50% of your special meter. Every SPA has a color, representing what type of effect it will have. Your character will then glow with that color. The SPA's are as follow: Red: Power Up Increases offensive power for a limited time. Yellow: Armor Increases toughness and will have no staggering animations when hit (Does not apply to grapples) Blue: Concentration Automatically performs counter-attacks and grapple breaks for a short time. Green: Arcanum Allows character to perform different moves that were not available before. e) Weapons In Urban Reign, weapons can be the very difference between winning and losing. Each weapon will have different effects and uses, depending on who you're using and what weapon you have in possession. For example, McKinzie specialty is the Hunting Knife. If you give him, oh say, a Kendo Stick, the results are not going to be the same. While weapons can be a savior, other characters are actually better without a weapon, like Tong Yoon for example. f) Partner menu If you're fighting along side with an A.I. partner, the Partner menu can help tell your partner what to do. While holding the R2 button, there are five commands that you could perform. Here is a list of selections in the Partner Menu: R2: Double-Team attack call R2+X: Switch character/partner R2+Circle: Split up R2+Triangle: Help R2+Square: Pass Weapon/Receive Weapon g) Regions Every character in Urban Reign has three body regions: Head, Upper and Lower. Every character has different strengths and weaknesses within these regions and knowing a character's strength and weakness in regions can be the difference between victory and defeat. Every character has moves that will damage a specific region or regions if it's a combo-type move. There are three stages of regional health: Green: Fine The region is either not harmed at all or damaged very very slightly. Yellow/Blue lightning: Injured This region has taken quite a beating and is now weaker than before. Red/Red lightning: Destroyed This region has now taken a huge amount of damage, making that region very weak and vulnerable to attacks. There are two ways to tell the stage a specific region is in. 1. The small picture of a body next to your health and SPA meter, showing the three stages of regional health by going through the colors green, yellow and red. 2. When attacking the person's region, you may see some lightning effects form around the region. For example, if a person's upper region is in an injured state, when you hit the upper region, you will some blue lightning form around the upper body, signaling the region's state of health. =============================================================================== 6. The Story/Storyline Walkthrough As you probably guessed, this is where the story mode takes place. To start a new story mode, go to NEW GAME on the top, as you would've guessed. In story mode, you will gain new moves, partners and abilities as you progress. How you strengthen your abilities is up to you. You will be allowed to edit at the end of each level. You play as Brad Hawk in story mode. You have just about all of your moves except for the running power bomb, air grabs and only neutral SPA. For a complete focus on Brad's moves, check the Character Profiles below. Here's a few tips to get you started. You can run up against walls and enemies, although it will do you almost no good at all, since you lack dive attacks for now. You can double throws, meaning that you can throw two guys at once, whether they are both in front of you or one is in front while one is behind you, but they can be cancelled if an opponent not being thrown interrupts your double attack. Story mode ========= (There will be no spoilers whatsoever. I will try to leave huge spoilers out as much as possible) =============================================================================== CHAPTER: 1 =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 1: Warming Up ========= Stage: Back Alley ===== Requirements: Defeat all opponents ============ Opponents: Em Cee, Real Deal ========= Advice: Experiment with your moves ====== Em Cee is a very weak and crappy fighter, so he should be absolutely no problem what so ever. Real Deal is just a bit stronger than Em Cee, but still just a push-over. You will start off with Real Deal in front of you and Em Cee behind you. Just take them both out and get a feel for the game. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 2: First Job ========= Stage: Chinatown ===== Requirements: Defeat all opponents ============ Opponents: Spider, Busta ========= Advice: Experiment with your moves ====== Spider and Busta are waiting outside for you. They both should be a piece of cake. Just beat them both up. =============================================================================== (From here on, you get to choose your mission on the map in any order. I'll list the missions by number order.) =============================================================================== Mission 3: Declaration ========= Stage: Bar ===== Requirements: Defeat Busta ============ Opponent: Busta ======== Advice: None ====== One of the guys beaten just before is back. Just whoop him once more in this level. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 4: Friendly Gesture ========= Stage: Hideout ===== Requirements: Defeat one of the opponents ============ Opponents: Seth, Rod, Torque ========= Advice: Defeat Rod instead of the other two. ====== Now Glen Kluger's biker gang, the Hell's Legions, are getting a piece of you. All you have to do is knock out one of the guys (preferably Rod) and that's it. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 5: Child's Play ========= Stage: Southend ===== Requirements: Defeat one of the opponents ============ Opponents: Nas-Tiii, Ty, Real Deal ========= Advice: Just fight Nas-Tiii ====== These three are just push-overs. Nas-Tiii wants to go against you, so just finish him off. If you hit either Ty or Real Deal (who are by the car, watching you fight Nas-Tiii) or if you throw Nas-Tiii into one of them or if you waste too much time, they will come after you. So just be careful if you can't handle the three altogether. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 6: Turf ========= Stage: Motel ===== Requirements: Defeat the opponent within the time limit (1:00) ============ Opponents: Reggie ========= Advice: Go for his head. Don't fool around unless you know what to do. ====== Your first real mission. Reggie is actually quite a good fighter and may prove to be a challenge to first-timers. What makes Reggie hard to counter during a combo is that there's usually a pause, so you'll have to time perfectly with his combo. You have one minute to take out Reggie. Don't fool around unless you know what you're doing. As time grows shorter, the music will get louder, reminding you of how much time you have left. The time can be seen on the top of the screen. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 7: Retaliation ========= Stage: Chinatown ===== Requirements: Defeat all opponents ============ Opponents: Busta, Spider, Pain Killah ========= Advice: If things get too wild, run. Use health drinks to your advantage. ====== Double throws work pretty well. You will face three of the zaps here. Shouldn't be too hard, but if things do get out of hand, try to run away and wait for them. Then do a hit and run. And double throws help as well. And when you defeat someone, he will drop a health drink. Pick it up by using L1 and push circle to regain some of your health. It's a one time only drink, so use it wisely. Push L1 to discard afterwards. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 8: New Kid on the Block ========= Stage: Southend ===== Requirements: Defeat all opponents ============ Opponents: Emilio, Jose ========= Advice: Fight off Emilio first. ====== Emilio will go after you first. Rough him up a bit. Jose will join in on the action soon afterwards. Then take them both out easily. =============================================================================== (You can now use the diving attack combos and grabs by running up walls and people) =============================================================================== Mission 9: Eye for an Eye ========= Stage: Warehouse ===== Requirements: Defeat all opponents ============ Opponents: Reggie, Zach, Colin ========= Advice: Use diving moves and dodge counters to your advantage. Double throws ====== work nicely in this level. It's you against three Karate experts. This can prove to be quite challenging. However, with your new diving attack now learned, you can use that to beat these guys up. But remember, they all fight like Reggie, who had a confusing combo to counter, so be careful when fighting these guys. After defeating two of them, the second one will drop a health drink. Use that if you're low on health. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 10: Observer ========== Stage: Motel ===== Requirements: Take Glen's men down ============ Opponents: Glen, Rod, Torque, Seth ========= Advice: Defeat them all quickly before Glen joins in and don't hit him. If ====== Glen does come in, just try to knock him back while you fight the others. That really big guy with the goatee was Glen. You don't to have him fight you with the other three fighting you right now. The music will change if Glen joins in. Although it's just about impossible for you to defeat all three before Glen comes, try knocking out atleast two to make it easier. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 11: Proof ======= Stage: Bar ===== Requirements: Defeat Jake ============ Opponent: Jake ======== Advice: Make dodge a priority. Try not to grab or do combos often since he can ====== easily dodge them. If he goes for an SPA, you do the same before it hits you. Juggles work nicely in this fight. I guess you can call this a boss battle, since Jake is one of the major characters in the game, and he's actually challenging. Jake uses wrestling, so expect him to use a lot of grabs. Make sure that you try to pace yourself and dodge a lot. Also, don't do amazing and long combo chains, because unlike the others, Jake is actually smart enough to counter them. Same goes for grabs. If you grab him, make sure that you're not making a huge risk, because a grab that you do can be the difference between your victory or your defeat. One last thing. Jake's SPA's are quite brutal. Try to counter it with an SPA right when he's about to hit you. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 12: Unlucky One ========== Stage: Back Alley ===== Requirements: Defeat all opponents ============ Opponents: Busta, Spider, Pain Killah, BK ========= Advice: Double throws helps a bit. If you are overpowered, run. ====== You should know three of these guys. The fourth one, BK, is a guy that was at the wrong place at the wrong time. So it's four against you. It can get a bit out of hand at times, but you should have no problem taking them all out. BK drops a health drink when defeated; use that to your advantage. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 13: Paying the Price ========== Stage: Hideout ===== Requirements: Defeat all opponents ============ Opponents: Miguel, Ramon, Jose, Torque ========= Advice: Same strategy as the previous mission ====== Again, it's four against one. Just a different level and different punching bags. Ramon should drop a health drink if beaten. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 14: Right Stuff ========== Stage: Bar ===== Requirements: Defeat Glen ============ Opponents: Glen, Jake ========= Advice: Get Glen only; leave Jake alone ====== This is just like the battle with Jake before, only this time it's Glen. Just try not to hit Jake, or else you'll get two tough bad mothers on you. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 15: Fury ========== Stage: Motel ===== Requirements: Defeat Kadonashi ============ Opponents: Kadonashi ========= Advice: Watch out for his Charge SPA. Run if he does his Charge SPA, or just be ====== careful against him. Kadonashi has a mean Charge SPA, which enhances his moves list. When he does this, he will have longer combos and more damaging SPAs'. When he does do a Charge SPA, he will glow green. This is only temporary, but that doesn't mean that he wont do it again. Just get him in small combos and run if you have to. He should be quite a challenge, but you should be able to handle yourself if you do these steps. =============================================================================== (You can now use Foward SPA. Look at Brad Hawk's moves list for more info.) =============================================================================== Mission 16: Repercussions ========== Stage: Back Alley ===== Requirements: Defeat all opponents ============ Opponents: BK, Grave Digga ========= Advice: They only use attacks; they wont do grabs. Dodge their punches. Give ====== your new SPA move a try in this mission (make sure the opponent is close to you). Double throws are good. These two are just push-overs. Since they have a pretty decent neutral combo, dodging them will help a lot. If they get too bothersome, give your new SPA a try (you must have three bars in your SPA meter filled). And since there's only two of them, no one will be there to cancel your double throw, so double throws come in handy. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 17: Crashing the Party ========== Stage: Southend ===== Requirements: Defeat all opponents ============ Opponents: Miguel, Busta, Spider, Em Cee, Ty ========= Advice: Try keeping your distance; they can easily overpower you. Diving moves ====== are quite useful in this mission You get five random guys against you. Surprisingly, they can easily take you down if they work together. That is why you're gonna have to move around a lot in this mission. What's really useful in this mission are your diving maneuvers which can easily turn the tables. Since Brad's diving attack can make a continuous chain, you can knock back a few guys along the way. Double throws work as well, but it can be very risky, since there's quite a few that could cancel your double throw and beat the crap out of you. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 18: Hit-and-Run ========== Stage: Bar ===== Requirements: Defeat the two opponents before time runs out (1:00) ============ Opponents: Torque, Rod ========= Advice: Use double throws, SPAs' and diving moves to your advantage. ====== These two should be easy. Only problem is that you have a minute before the cops come in. So don't take your time. Just give them both hell. You'll begin to hear sirens and see flashing lights outside the window when time's almost up. Rod will drop an energy drink when beaten, which will charge up your SPA meter when you drink it. =============================================================================== (You can now do a Running Power Bomb. Look at Brad's moves list for more info) =============================================================================== Mission 19: Chinatown Welcome ========== Stage: Chinatown ===== Requirements: Defeat all opponents ============ Opponents: Bones, Grave Digga, BK, Booma ========= Advice: Use diving attacks and SPAs' to your advantage, as well as air juggles. ====== Try out your new throw. Double throws are also a good one, but risky. These four can be a bit of trouble if you go at them all at once. Do the same strategy as in Mission 17. If no one else is in your way, try doing the new Running Power Bomb. If you connect the Running Power Bomb to a wall, you can do a two hit combo to the upper body. Grave Digga should be holding a health drink. Defeat him to get it. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 20: The Hungry Wolf ========== Stage: Warehouse ===== Requirements: Defeat Tong Yoon ============ Opponent: Tong Yoon ======== Advice: Diving attacks are nice in this fight. Watch out for his SPAs; they ====== can a pain in the arse. Avoid going for lower attacks. No, it's not Terry Bogard, but the Muay Thai champion of Thailand, Tong Yoon Bulsook! ... *cricket cricket* But anyway, Tong Yoon can be one mean mother if you don't know how he fights. Attacking his lower region is almost completely useless, since he probably has the toughest legs out of all the Urban Reign cast, so try avoiding down grabs and down attacks. Although it wouldn't be a bad idea to use these moves every once in awhile, just try not to rely on them too much. His SPAs can be quite nasty. Both his upper and side SPA will have him coming right at you. Try using diving attacks and juggles to your advantage and you should easily beat Tong Yoon. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 21: World-Ranked Boxer ========== Stage: Hideout ===== Requirements: Defeat all opponents ============ Opponent: Grimm, Glen ======== Advice: Try going for Glen first. Double throws are a good advantage. If all ====== else fails, run. Grimm can be a bad sore if he teams up with Glen together. Since it's only Grimm and Glen there, no one will be there to cancel your double throw. Glen can be bothersome, so just get rid of him first. If Grimm comes by you, just hit him back and continue with Glen. If they both are attacking, just use either a neutral or foward SPA and run. Follow these and you can make it alive in one piece. Glen drops an energy drink when defeated; use that if you're in need of an SPA charge. =============================================================================== (You can now use a Side SPA. Look at Brad's moves list for more info.) =============================================================================== Mission 22: Ring of Fire ========== Stage: Bar ===== Requirements: Defeat Grimm ============ Opponent: Grimm ======== Advice: Be cautious when Grimm has his Charge SPA on; he should be glowing red. ====== Use your new SPA to your advantage. Juggles can be used as an advantage against him. It's just you and Grimm. He should immediately start off the match with a charge SPA that will increase his strength. Don't just start fighting him carelessly or you will lose quickly. I'm not saying avoid him at all costs, just don't fight so recklessly. Your new SPA will help a lot in this fight, since it's Brad's best SPA out of all the three (in my opinion at least), and does a ten hit combo for that matter. So if Grimm's doing that huge SPA combo, reply with this SPA. Only minor setback is that it requires for mini-bars of the SPA meter to be filled. And since there is no one to cancel your juggles, you can do simple juggles with Grimm before he dodges them. He should be easy to beat if you fight strategically instead of just all muscle. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 23: Avenging the Honor ========== Stage: Back Alley ===== Requirements: Destroy Zach's lower region ============ Opponent: Zach ======== Advice: Use down throws and down attacks against zach. When Zach's laying on ====== the ground, use a down attack; don't grab while he's on the ground. This should be fairly easy. All you need to do is use down attacks until his lower region becomes red. Just don't defeat him; defeating him with his lower region not entirely destroyed will result in a mission failure. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 24: Helping Hands ========== Stage: Warehouse ===== Requirements: Defeat all opponents ============ Opponents: Kadonashi, Tong Yoon ========= Advice: Try fighting one at a time. If they both gang up on you, run away. ====== Don't bother trying to use a double attack; it's too risky. You got two boss characters fighting you. This can be very tricky. I prefer fighting only one at a time, though the choice of who to fight first is yours. Kadonashi can be hard in this fight while Tong Yoon can just be an annoying pest. Use the same strategies from the previous battles you've had with these guys and it should work nicely. Just try not to fight them both at once. Kadonashi will drop a health drink when defeated. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 25: Outnumbered ========== Stage: Chinatown ===== Requirements: Defeat all opponents ============ Opponents: Busta, Spider, Em Cee, Nas-Tiii, Pain Killah ========= Advice: Use double attacks with caution. If outnumbered, run and attack one at ====== time. Back to the nobody's. Only problem is their numbers, which can be a disadvantage for you. But no need to worry. These guys still suck even with a large pack. Just take them all out. Be careful when attempting to do a double attack; one of them that's not being attacked can cancel your double attack and beat you up with his other friends. Em Cee should drop a health drink when defeated. Nas-Tiii should drop an energy drink when defeated as well. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 26: Fist to Fist ========== Stage: Motel ===== Requirements: Defeat Jake ============ Opponent: Jake ======== Advice: Beware of his grabs when his charge SPA is on; he will do more damaging ====== throws. If he goes down, try not to let him up. Jake can be one bad mother in this one. Especially his charge SPA. If his charge SPA is initiated, he will be glowing green. Keep combos to a minimal and just make him hit the ground. Try not to give him mercy and give him all hell. =============================================================================== (You can now use Air Grapple, which allows you to grab opponents while they are in mid air) =============================================================================== Mission 27: The Blitz ========== Stage: Hideout ===== Requirements: Defeat all opponents ============ Opponents: Rod, Torque, Seth, Glen ========= Advice: Use your new Air Grapple to your advantage. Use double throws with ====== caution. Diving attacks and throws can be a life saver. If overpowered, run. They're all are going to attack you at once, so don't just run in there. Using diving attacks and diving grabs can be very helpful in this fight. Double attacks can also help out if no one cancels it. And try out your new Air Grab. The grab differs depending on where you grab the mid-air opponent and he/she is positioned. For example, If you grab an opponent by his legs with back facing down, you'll be able to perform a power bomb (and running power bomb if you push x). Try not to let them overpower you and make use of your SPAs Rod should drop a health drink when defeated. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 28: Who's Your Daddy? ========== Stage: Hideout ===== Requirements: Defeat Glen ============ Opponent: Glen ======== Advice: If charged up, go for grabs; strikes will not make him stagger and can ====== attack you normally even if being beaten. Use his pipe and make good use of it. Just you and Glen. He'll immediately start off with a charge SPA. When this happens, do not use strikes. I'll repeat: DO NOT USE STRIKES. Strikes will have no affect his animation and can fight back easily. So when he is glowing yellow, go for grabs. (Quick Note: SPAs will have the same affect as normal strikes, so avoid using them as well) As you can see, he also has a pipe. What you need to do is damage a region and sooner or later he will drop it. Push L1 to pick up and drop weapons. Weapons are like regular attacks and grabs, having the directional attacks. Push both X and square to throw it, although it is possible that he can catch it. So here's a simple layout to defeat Glen: Go for grabs if has his charge SPA on Use his pipe against him After his charge SPA is gone, give him hell Follow these three steps and you will easily win. =============================================================================== (You can now use charge SPA. Brad's charge SPA will increase his offense for a period of time. Charge SPA requires half an SPA meter) =============================================================================== Mission 29: Small Fry ========== Stage: Motel ===== Requirements: Defeat all opponents ============ Opponents: Spider, Busta, Pain Killah ========= Advice: Use your new SPA to your advantage. Double attacks are a nice helper. ====== These are just three nobody's, just like what the title of this mission says, "Small Fry". Your new SPA will really come in handy, since it will increase your offense for a period of time. Just fight these three like you normally would and they should go down easily. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== Mission 30: Showdown ========== Stage: Scrapyard ===== Requirements: Defeat Dwayne ============ Opponent: Dwayne ======== Advice: Use everything you've learned to defeat Dwayne. ====== At last, you meet Dwayne. He can be quite the tricky fighter. He will begin the =============================================================================== fight with a charge SPA, which, just like yours, increases his offense. So try not to let him get the upper hand at that point. Use all the techniques you've learned and take him down. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== END OF CHAPTER =============================================================================== (Chapter 2 and 3 coming soon) =============================================================================== 7. Character Profiles/Moves Lists This section is for each character of Urban Reign. Each of these characters have a unique fighting style. Some may be the same as others, but due to their different stats, they may not have the same strategy. Anyway, let's start with the main characters. And for all of you Tekken and Soul Edge/Calibur fans out there, you may see that a lot of the fighters in Urban Reign have the same moves and animations as those in the games. Hell, I'll even give a short description to their fighting style, because, well I'm a huge fan of the Martial Arts and street fighting, so I know some knowledge in the way a lot of the characters fight. And a legend for those who may have trouble reading the moves list: ^=Up v=Down <=Left >=Right +=Add to command. For example, ^+Circle means push up and Circle together. a) Main Characters ========= Brad Hawk ========= Fighting Style: All-Round Height: 6'/185 cm Weight: 192 lbs/87 kg DoB: n/a Age: n/a Ranking: ***** Gang: None/Brawler-for-Hire A brawler who's come to town at the request of Shun Ying Lee. Not much is known about his past, but his strength shows he has extensive fighting experience. The main protagonist of Urban Reign. For all of you anime and video game fans out there, you may notice that Steven Blum is Brad's voice actor. Blum has done many voices, most famous for Spike Speigal from the anime, Cowboy Bebop. Brad has a tough look. Shaved head, rugged face, pimpin' jacket and strong fighting style. All-Round seems to have an influence in the mixture of Boxing, Kickboxing, Wrestling and Street Fighting. Nothing can really be told about this style, because it's a style that the fighter creates on his own. ========== Moves List ========== ======= Attacks ======= Strikes: ======= Machine Gun Uppercut Command: Circlex4 Region: Head, Head, Upper, Head Slashing High Kick Command: ^+Circle Region: Head Storm Uppercut Command: </>+Circlex3 Region: Upper, Upper, Head Sweep Kick Command: v+Circle Region: Lower Snap Kick Command: v+Circle (when near an enemy on the ground) Region: Lower Face Away Strikes: ================= Machine Gun Uppercut Command: Circlex4 Region: Head, Head, Upper, Head Swinging Overheard Punch Command: ^+Circle Region: Head Storm Uppercut Command: </>+Circlex3 Region: Upper, Upper, Head Spinning Sweep Kick Command: v+Circle Region: Lower ===== Grabs ===== Front Grabs: =========== Power Bomb Command: ^+Triangle Region: Head Running Power Bomb Command: Push X during Power Bomb Region: Upper Wall Power Bomb Command: Connect a Running Power Bomb to a wall Region: Upper, Upper Reverse Back Shoulder Throw Command: </>+Triangle Region: Upper Leg Screw Command: v+Triangle Region: Lower Back Grabs: ========== Bulldog Command: ^+Triangle Region: Head Reverse Back Shoulder Throw Command: </>+Triangle Region: Upper Atomic Kneebreaker Command: v+Triangle Region: Lower Face Away Grabs: =============== Arm Twist to High-Section Kick Command: ^+Triangle Region: Head Reverse Back Shoulder Throw Command: </>+Triangle Region: Upper Leg Sweep Command: v+Triangle Region: Lower Air Grabs: ========= Enemy Facing Up: =============== Power Bomb Command: Triangle by lower region Region: Upper Running Power Bomb Command: Push X during Power Bomb Region: Upper Wall Power Bomb Command: Connect a Running Power Bomb to a wall Region: Upper, Upper German Suplex Command: Triangle by head region Region: Upper Spiral Backbreaker Command: Triangle by upper region Region: Upper Enemy Facing Down: ================= Powerslam Command: Triangle Region: Upper Ground: ====== Mounted Punching* Command: Triangle while enemy is laying on the ground Region: Head, Head, Head, Head *=Enemy can face both up and down for this move ====== Diving ====== Diving Kick* Command: Circle Region: Head Hurricarana Command: Triangle Region: Head Reverse Hurricarana Command: Triangle (facing behind opponent) Region: Head *=Can perform numerous times while in the air ======= Dashing ======= Wall Run Command: X (connect to a wall or person) Region: Head (can set up for diving maneuvers) Attacks: ======= Cyclone Kick Command: Circle Region: Upper, Head Catapult Uppercut Command: ^+Circle Region: Head Stomach Blow Command: </>+Circle Region: Upper Sliding Kick Command: v+Circle Region: Lower ================== Special Arts (SPA) ================== Twister Command: Circle+Triangle Region: Head, Head Windmill Command: Circle+Triangle while on the ground Region: Head, Lower Fatal Blow Command: ^+Circle+Triangle Region: Upper Lightning Smash Command: </>+Circle+Triangle Region: Upper, Head, Upper, Upper, Upper, Head, Upper, Upper, Upper, Head Charge (Power Up)* Command: v+Circle+Triangle Region: Upper *=Will affect your stats for a period of time depending on what charge type it is ======= Doubles ======= Double Attacks: ============== Hawk Talon Command: Triangle when two enemies are in front of you Region: Head Hawk Wing Command: Triangle when two enemies are in front of you and behind you Region: Head Double-Team Attacks: =================== Phalanx Attack Command: Triangle when a partner and you are in front of an opponent Region: Upper, Upper, Head Sky-High Command: Triangle when you are behind an enemy and a partner is in front Region: Head Double-Team Facebuster Command: Triangle when a partner and you are behind an opponent Region: Head (Other characters coming soon) =============================================================================== 8. Unlockables and Secrets (Coming Soon) =============================================================================== 9. Trivia (Coming Soon) =============================================================================== 10. End/Credits I must show my gratitude to those who've inspired me to write this FAQ. Without them, I wouldn't have taken the time to have written this FAQ. I thank whoever has assisted me in any way, shape or form to me writing this FAQ. ======== GameFAQs ======== For having a site for all FAQs and Walkthroughs. And providing me a tutorial as to how to write an FAQ/Walkthrough ================================================== Kevin Dinglasan (KDKM0506/InspectorK/IJCSpeedKing) ================================================== For writing the first and only Urban Reign FAQ and giving me a motivation into making my own FAQ. If you're reading this right now, I just want to let you know how much I enjoyed your FAQ and like your courage into making the only Urban Reign FAQ out there right now in GameFAQs =============================== Michael Posa (Posa/-BIO-HaZaRd) =============================== For being my best friend out there and giving me a good break from writing this faq and playing challenge mode with me. As well as helping me in other games like getting 100% on every difficulty in The Warriors (though I did most of it on my own) and getting me almost all of the dog tags in MGS2 and so on. See ya on Omega Strain tonight. :D ============================= James Walsh and Myong Suk Kim ============================= My parents. If it weren't for them, then, well, I wouldn't even exist. Thank you mom and dad for loving me dearly! ^o^ ===== Namco ===== I thank Namco for making this exceptional game. I love how they made the physics and animation so superb and almost unbeatable to any other game I've played. Just goes to show you that games don't have to be overhyped to show how great the game is. Now if you guys made Urban Reign 2 or Urban Reign for the PSP, then I'll be even more happy, and you're darn right I'll be writing an FAQ for it as well! ======================= You, the reader/cheater ======================= Why shouldn't give my thanks to you people? What's the point in writing FAQs if no one's gonna give a crap reading about it? Even though this is a small game not known by many in the public, it's a nice stepping stone for me. And hell, I love this freakin' game. ^__^ =============================================================================== 11. Bottom Line: Even a starving hawk never steals from others. Please don't steal at all. ... Heh, I said hawk. Kinda fits this FAQ, right? You know, Brad Hawk, right? Yeah, heh heh... ... Ok, I'll stop now. =============================================================================== 12.
