This FAQ focuses on Kijyou Madoka - here after referred to either Madoka
or Kijyou - from the dating sim game Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side.
This FAQ will tell you everything you might want to or need to know about
him and how to woo him until you get his ending.
I wrote this FAQ because, out of the boyfriend candidates, Madoka is my
favorite character because of his easy-going personality, his looks and
his Kansai accent.

Q: How well do I need to know japanese to play this game?
A: A good amount of it. Mostly you need to recognize the Kanji and Kana.
Otherwise you can rely on luck during dates.
Q: Madoka is never at the school gate,
how do I get his Caf� pictures?
A: He might stop you on the way home when he's at :) or above.
The second option is going to a caf�.
Q: How do I get sexy clothes during Year 1?
A: Not at all - if you're lucky you might see some sexy clothes
at the Flea Market, but the chance is very slim.
Q: What should I wear instead, then?
A: Sporty clothes.
Q: What is "pierce"?
A: Pierce is what they call earrings for pierced ears in the game.
Earrings are clip-ons, they're easy enough to tell apart.
Q: How do I recognize Madoka's name in the lists?
A: With Tsukushi's notes and phone list it's easy, because his surname
is the only one written in hiragana. Actually, just get his information
and then stare at his name in the phone list long enough until you
remember what his name looks like.

Cheerful Madoka doesn't care about his grades and is usually found
at the bottom of the test results, failing at least two subjects.
He does manage to get a decent score but how he managed to do that
will remain a mystery.
Madoka looks like a playboy and might act like one at first - he actually
asks you out on a date when you first meet him! But once you get to know
him he really is a serious guy with family trouble - he's actually a bit
lonely at times. So there's a chance for you to score big time with him.
Madoka plans to be a freeter after school - someone without a really good
education or training, just sailing through life - but he does want to
hold down a good job, so he can save up money to open his own bike shop.

Botique Nanami
sells sexy clothes - but also some sporty clothes - and
would be the best place to buy clothes for dates with Madoka.
However, Nanami doesn't open until your second school year.
Botique Sheila
sells sporty clothes - and Yukatas - so it's best to buy
your clothes for dates with Madoka here for the first year.
The Flea Markets
might sell clothes for half of the price, but they don't
necessarily have the styles you want. So, just check there once in a while.
The Second Hand Shop
are there from summer of your second school year onwards
and they also sell clothes 20% off the store price - also as a random
collection but they have a lot of clothes, so you usually find sporty
or sexy clothes you need.
General Store Simone
sells everything, so buy at least one of each type of
accessory so you have whatever might be in fashion.
Jewelry Vansan
does the same, but more focuses on body accessories and not on general
accessories of all types.

Rival Mode : Competitive and Mean
Fujii is easy going and into fashion, just like Madoka. She's very good
at being a Cheerleader and is rather competitive about things.
Especially about Madoka.
She loves shopping for new things and can be often found in the beach
section's shopping mall - usually playing some arcade games after finishing
her shopping spree.
Once Madoka likes you enough, Fujii might stop you after school and ask
for a chat. At the playground she'll ask you some stuff and then ask how
you think of .. Kijyou. She gets rather careful with her words and ..
She gets frustrated and demands to know what you feel for Kijyou.
Without even waiting for an answer, she will start screaming at the top
of her lungs "I, Fujii Natsumi, am in love with Kijyou Madoka!!" and
runs off. You entered Rival Mode.
During school, in Rival Mode, Fujii will ignore you if you try to play
with her, she will not send you New Year's Cards, she will not send you
e-Mails, she will not ask you to join the Pillow Fight ..
The only thing she does do is stop you during Valentine's Day and tell
you that your chocolate can't have a special impact on Madoka now,
because she gave him hers first.
Otherwise, during shopping, if you see her and Madoka she will pretend
that they are having a date.
Getting into Rival Mode with Fujii is rather amusing. Since Madoka's
affection for you is so high it's fun to see him shooting her down.
During shopping, he'll say that Fujii met him coincidently or
during Valentine's Day he murmurs how this girl from the other class
just suddenly gave him the chocolates .. and then tries to explain
rather embarrassed and hurridly that he really wants your chocolates!

Prevent Rival Mode

The best way to avoid Rival Mode with Fujii is to not know her.
Since it's hard to increase your Fashion without meeting her, it's pretty
much impossible to go that route.
Once you do meet her, however, do not do anything with her.
Do not chit-chat with her, do not join the Cheerleading Club or
work at Winning Burger.
The more distance there is between you and Fujii, the lower the chance is
of activating Rival Mode. If you can't prevent Rival Mode, though ..

Losing Against Fujii

Let's say you got into Rival Mode with Fujii.
Fine, nothing to worry about that much. After all, Madoka is at :D or
perhaps even close to getting to *_* and he asks you out for dates
almost every weekend, loves your style and attitude/answers during dates.
Nothing can happen, right?
Wrong!
If you are in Rival Mode with Fujii and you still, for some reason,
chit-chat with her - you want to increase your fashion or whatever - you
might get a bad ending.
Basically, while you chit-chat with her and still go out with Madoka,
she will start to move in onto your territory.
During late third school year you might see her and Madoka in school
together and Fujii will mention - rather triumphantly - that she and
Madoka have become a couple!
She stole Madoka from you and his affection for you drops down to :)
or even >( with bad luck. Most likely you don't have any other guy at
the same high affection level and you will end up with Tsukushi's ending.

Winning Against Fujii

Of course just ignoring her without going into Rival Mode and wooing Madoka
will result in the best ending for you - his ending!
There are ways to get back on good terms with Fujii, but I suggest not to
try your luck. Basically you keep playing with Fujii persistently, even
after entering Rival Mode with her, and during your third school year
Fujii might speak to you and tell you how she has given up on Madoka and
will gladly hand him over to you.
Her affection for you will raise from >( back to :) and she will chit-chat
with you again and not ignore you. And you have free way with Madoka
and managed to not make an enemy at the end of the game.

After School
+----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
After a command, you might get a shot of the school gate after classes
and a message will say you see this or that person.
You get three choices.
Walk Home Together
Chat in a Caf�
Walk Home Alone
Walking home together doesn't really do much, you'll talk about irrelevant
stuff or upcoming tests ..
Chatting in a caf� will result in getting the two Caf� pictures.
Walking home alone will end any scene and nothing happens.
Meeting Madoka after school might be hard - personally, I met him more
often at the school gate when I wasn't pursuing him.
Since he's not that easy to meet after school, hope that you'll get a
shot of a street after a command and you hear Madoka's kansai accent
calling out to you.
He'll ask that, since you're on your way home, how about a date with him.
He doesn't really mean a date, just do something with him.
You get the same options as with the schoolgate, so choose the second
option to go into a caf� with him.

Nickname Kijyou

During the schoolgate shot, if you see someone the R1 Button will flash
next to the box. Pressing that will give you a list of nicknames to
call the person - some of them are more personal than others so watch out.
Since it's not that easy to meet Madoka at the school gate, I have not yet
gotten an entire list of what to call him.
However, at the start stick with "Kijyou-kun".
If you meet Madoka on the street you do not get the option to call
him via a nickname.

Love Talk Answers
+----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
When in a caf� - or extended dates at the playground - you get the choice
to ask Madoka a question. They are always three questions, but there's
a long list which will re-new itself after every question.
After you have asked every question, you get an almost confession and
the list cylce repeats itself. Still continue to extend dates with him.
"What TV programms do you watch?"
Madoka watches Variety Programms, some Dramas, F1 and Bike Races.

Buying Clothes

Every holiday or sunday you get the option to go shopping for clothes
or accessories. There are three shopping malls with different shops
in different districts.
You can only enter one shop before sunday ends.
Botique Sheila's Icon is a white t-shirt and a pink heart.
Jewelry Vansan's Icon is a silver heart-shaped necklace.
The Second Hand Shop's Icon is a pair of roughed up jeans.
Opens July 1st, Year 2.
Botique Nanami's Icon is some red clothes.
Opens April 1st, Year 2.
General Store Simone's Icon is three candles.
The Flea Market's Icon is a person calling out.
Easy enough, just click on the item you want to buy and choose the
left option to confirm. Some of the outfits seem warm enough, but will
need a jacket or something similar above it.
Unders are what they mean with shirts, tanktops, etc - only t-shirts
or similar have the option to put a top - jacket, coat, etc - over it.

Asking For Dates

Every holiday or sunday you get the option to call someone - if you call
Madoka it automatically means you want a date.
If you call Madoka's number on Wednesdays or Fridays you get his answering
machine - the first option will let you leave a message. Madoka will call
you the next day or in the evening and either confirm or decline the date.
Do not ask Madoka for dates on Wednesdays or Fridays, he's busy working
at the Gas Station - you should know, because you'll be working at the
same place.
Call him and Madoka will answer, asking what you wanted to call about.
Your calender opens up, showing the day you are on and the free dates
with the next four weeks where you can go out.
Choose one.
You then get the city map with the different sections and date spots.
Select the spot you want to date him at and repeat it in the phone.
Madoka will either accept or decline the date.
You know he accepts when you see the Date repeated at the end.

There are a total of 22 Dating Spots you can invite Madoka to,
some of them he loves more than others, so watch out where to date him.
On the map they are represented by symbols, which are listed.

Bowling Alley - Pinball, Billiard/Table Tennis added later
Karaoke BOX - Microphone
Game Center - Crane Machine, Slot Machines/DDR added later

remember is that he hates studying and loves anything exciting or new.

Date Answers

At every date - unless you are getting a cutscene - Madoka will ask you
what you think of the place or something similar. These are seperated
into three answer possibilities - good, okay or bad.
I do not have a japanese keyboard, so I cannot type in the sentences,
but I will try to enter what the sentences say or look like.

Date Disturbers

Randomly you might encounter someone other than your date when meeting up.
Don't worry Madoka will appear and chase them away - one way or another.
If such a disturber appears at your date, Madoka will not comment on your
clothes or accessory.
Blonde Dude,
he can pop up everywhere except the beach.
I don't know what he's saying or what Madoka does - I never encountered
him when dating Madoka.
Salesman,
he can pop up everywhere except the beach.
He tries to sell you something, but disappears when Madoka comes.
He's scared of "the real Kansai guy".
Beach Boy,
he can pop up only at the beach during summer.
He tries to chat you up, but gasps when he sees Madoka.
He "didn't know you were Madoka's girl".

Walkthrough
+----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
For the start, I suggest having Konno as your first girl.
Playing with her increases Attentiveness and Sports, both needed for the
job at the Gas Station.
First, raise your Fashion to 55 or 60 to meet Madoka and get his
information from Tsukushi. Then raise your Attentiveness and Sports
to 50 and 60 respectively, by playing with Konno, and take the job
at the Gasoline Stand.
Basically, for the rest of the game, date him at places he loves and
accept his asking for dates - which he'll do constantly once he reaches
grinning state.
Give him the best Valentine's chocolate and remember the best gifts
for his birthday and christmas - wear his favorite outfit or accessories,
answer correctly on dates and invite him to special events - the Fireworks
Festival in August, Ski Resort in Winter.
Raise your Fashion, Charm and Sports - ignore studying or tests, even
if you lose weeks and parameters because of detention.
Madoka is one of the easiest to get since his affection goes from :| to
:) after a handful of dates. It might take you 6 months or a year to
raise him to :D, but after that he almost instantly goes to *_* and
stays there.
Madoka's ending has an extra speech if you reject him at first.
Reject him and he'll say "Even if you reject me, I will always love you.
So, whenever you are ready to become my lover/girlfriend, I'll be waiting."
You get another chance to reciprocate his feelings, but he won't sound
as happy as if you accepted the first time around.
Understandably, no?
Personally, I don't like rejecting him at first - especially if you've
worked so hard to get his ending in the first place.
