Introduction and Disclaimer [INTR] ===================== As of right now, this walkthrough is still in the beginning stages, nowhere near complete. However, I have decided to post what I do have so far. I hope it will be of some use. This will be updated as I complete each section, and I will do so as fast as I can. I'm through Chapter 2 now, and I apologize for this taking so long. I blame real life and WoW. This is my first faq for GameFaqs, so please let me know if I've made any errors. Likewise, if there's something you think this could use that I've over- looked, please tell me. I can be reached at [email protected]. Please put 'faq' or 'Devil Summoner' in the message line so that I do not dismiss your email to my spam folder. I've included search terms so you can jump straight to different parts of the walkthrough. Just copy the stuff in brackets, then use CTRL-F to jump to them. Please be aware that some sections are still incomplete, and have not yet been given their search terms. Walkthrough [W!] ===================== This is for the main part of the game. It's currently done through the end of Chapter 2. ===================== Prologue [W-P] ===================== When the game starts, you'll have the option of loading a save from the first Devil Summoner game; you will get a few bonuses for doing so. There's nothing crucial, but the bonuses are nice, so there's no reason *not* to do it. **Bonuses pending** After that, you'll appear in the Kuzunoha Training Hall. Name your character, and then proceed to the fighting. This is just the tutorial stage. Don't worry about dying; you can't. If you lose to one of the trial fights, you'll just have to do it over. 1st Battle - Melee Combat This is basically the intro to using your sword. No sweat. Kill everything to proceed, and talk to the yellow soul that appears after if you need a refresher. 2nd Battle - Gun You can either empty your clip into the Pixie, then run up and slash her, or just reload and keep shooting. At this point, you do kinda need to shoot her either way; Pixies tend to warp. But she'll go down fast. 3rd Battle - Defense This one's a bit of a pain in the ass. If you do not dodge or block the Wind Cutter attack, you'll get your ass handed to you. Just block when the attack text comes up. You'll take next to no damage. 4th Battle - Commanding Demons Unlike in the first game, you won't be able to get a demon to keep in the tutorial. Tam Lin is being lent to you, is all, and he's nice. One hit of the combo skill Fire Slash will kill the sucker. 5th Battle - MAG Use To regenerate MAG, you'll need crits, and to crit, you'll need to hit the weak points. However, you also get MAG when your demon crits. You'll probably be able to only get crits on two of each wave, because Fire Slash kind of kills them. Also, in the tutorial stage, you automatically hit all the enemies, but in the real game, you'll have to chase enemies down. 6th Battle - Boss ===================== Jorougumo ===================== You'll get a second demon here, but unfortunately, you can't keep her. You'll get the strategy screen for the first time, too. Set Alraune to heal, and Tam Lin to Zio, and just lay waste. When Jorougumo hits half health, you'll get instructions on how to make your demons dodge, but you really shouldn't need to in this fight. It will come in handy later, though. After that, and a lot of talking, you'll be sent to the Capital to start the game proper. ===================== Chapter 1: An Enigmatic Woman [W-01] ===================== So you know, the creepy nursery rhyme will come up again, and again. You'll be introduced to Narumi, who's kinda-sorta your boss, and your client for this game, Akane. (Narumi seems to have become slightly... off since the last game, but that could just be me.) The Detective Agency is the base of operations; come here to get hints, save, accept Case Files (you'll get to that later), and rest, free of charge. Going to the roof lets you talk to people who might be hanging around, at least Gouto. Akane wants to find a man named Dahn, and will give you the necessary picture. When Narumi pawns the case off on you, head out to start talking to people. If you look at Gouto's Notebook, it'll have some information in it. Talk to everyone in Tsukudo-Cho. (The npcs you can talk to are standing still; the ones who are walking can't be interacted with.) You can go to Konnou-Ya if you need supplies, but the Gouma-Den's closed right now. Not that you can do anything with it until you have a couple of demons anyway. You might as well also pick up any items laying around. They sparkle. The suspicious maid by the Ushigome-gaeri Bridge will give you your first Case File (Lab Rats), so tell her where the Detective Agency is. That goes for anyone who asks where they can find anything. (Yes, Victor does keep an Ippon- Datara as a servant. This completely fails to surprise me.) Upon accepting it, you'll also be able to reach Shinoda by streetcar, and Dark Tsukudo-Cho via the Ritual of Entry. Once you reach Dark Tsukudo-Cho, head straight for the Dragon Cave near the bridge and check it out. Victor will arrive, and ask you to test his invention. Say yes, and he'll give you the Tesseract Box, which allows you to access the Gouma-Den from any Dragon Cave. Once Victor returns, the Gouma-Den will be open. While you're here, you should pick up a few demons, so explore the area. At the very least, grab a Pixie; she has a heal ability. The Dragon Jaws are impassable, so you'll need to find another way around. If you make your way all the way up to the top of the street, you can find an Inugami. Speak to it to fight it, if you like, but you don't have to right now. ===================== Inugami ===================== It's level 5, so it's probably a challenge right now. Inugami is weak to fire attacks, so Agi or Fire Bullet is your friend. Watch your hp and just keep at it. If you win, you can get Inugami as your demon. (If you already have an Inugami, through fusion, you'll get an item.) ===================== You can get back to Tsukudo-Cho from the glowing portals. You'll need to go to Tamonten Shrine to be able to access the next area. Talk to the blond kid there, and he'll point you at Fukagawa-Cho, which is now accessible by street car. You can run around town, but really the only thing you need to do right now is talk to Satake in the bath-house. He will demand a gift before he helps you; he wants Smoked Salmon. (If you haven't done the Lab Rats case file yet, you'll need to before you can get anywhere.) Once you have that, Satake will direct you to a man named Tatsumi, and allow you access to Mannen-Cho, which is on the same street map as Fukagawa-Cho. Ask around Mannen-Cho until you find Osamu Kogure, who's arguing with his son by the well. He'll tell you where to find Tatsumi, and give you the password to the gambling parlor. It's in the house just inside of the entrance to the area. While you're running around, check in all the houses you can get into, some of them have items. Tatsumi's the loser in the blue suit at the far end of the gambling parlor. Before he'll tell you anything, you'll have to play heads-or-tails with him at least once; it's impossible to win this. The button will always come up the opposite of whatever you pick, so play once and continue the dialogue. However, once Tatsumi condescends to look at Dahn's picture, he'll clam up. You'll need a demon with the "Read Mind" ability to get any farther. There are two options for this. Either you can defeat the Inugami hanging out at the far end of Dark Tsukodo-Cho and claim it, or you can fuse an Inugami (or other Pagan-order demon) at the Gouma-Den. If you've picked either one up before you came to Mannen-Cho, you can proceed, if not, you'll have to backtrack. Once you read his mind, ask him about the insect and watch him spazz. Then you have to chase him down. Follow him until you reach the point where he told the householder to not allow anyone else through. You'll need a Skill-type demon to get past this. You should have picked up a Pixie in Dark Tsukudo-Cho. If not, go back and get one. Use the Transform ability to turn into Tatsumi and get past all the guards. You'll have to chase him all the way down to the dock at the river. (This path was blocked by police earlier.) And then after the indignity of the banana, you'll have to chase him back to the street above the well area. Tatsumi ducked into the crossdresser's house, but it's dark. No matter which way you choose to search, however, you'll miss Tatsumi and step on Gouto. Which is sad. And Tatsumi will bolt again. However, you'll finally be able to corner him on the roof of the long building... OH LOOK! NINJAS! And then they transport you to a crazy psychadelic dimension. The Fukorutsubo is a maze, but not a traditional one. The direction you enter a room from affects how the room will be laid out. However, there are some new demons here. You'll need to find your way through the Fukorutsubo to the ninjas. Take the left fork at the Dragon Cave, then take the path that branches off to the right. At the crossroads, take the upper path. Follow that around past Nakisawame. At the next crossroads, go straight across to the left hand path. Not only is there an item, but coming back from the dead end will reset the room so you can reach the next Dragon Cave and the ninjas. Unfortunately, at this stage, you don't get to kill the ninjas. ===================== Jiromaru ===================== Instead, you must do battle with Jiromaru, the giant grasshopper of death. A Pixie or anyone else with Dia is a good choice for this, then someone who can take some punishment. Jiromaru is weak to fire. When he jumps up into the air, it is a good idea to hold L2 to protect your demons and run around. Do NOT stand in one place, Hopper Kick does a lot of damage. ===================== Once you've beaten Jiromaru down, you'll be returned to the rooftop in Mannen- Cho. And promptly get jumped by another OMG HUGE thing. You can't win this fight. You can't even *damage* Binbou-gami right now. Hit at it some just to seem like you're trying, but don't bother using any items, and don't bother healing any demons who die. After a few minutes, you'll be whisked away to Strobe Land. When the cutscene is over, you'll wake up back in the Detective Agency, so no sweat. Unfortunately, you'll have to sit through Narumi's Investigational Meeting. It should only take a few minutes, though. At the end, you'll get a new direction, and Kasumidai will be accessible by street car. Head for Kasumidai. You can't get into the base yet, so the only place is the Narita residence. Talk to the members of the Narita household, then return to the Detective Agency to talk to Narumi. He'll send you to the Shin-Sekai Soda Joint in Ginza-Cho (street car again) to talk to Tae. The Shin-Sekai is the only area you can reach in Ginza-Cho right now. Talk to the Owner to get a bunch of Case Files; you'll want to come back here periodically to get more. The other patrons can give you gameplay tips. When you're ready, talk to Tae. She'll give you a little info, but you'll get more when you leave. You can either return to the Detective Agency to talk to Narumi, or head straight for Shinoda to get to Dark Mannen-Cho. If you go back to the Agency, this would be a dandy time to do some of the Case Files, if you talked to the Owner of the Shin-Sekai. New area, new demons, if you need some. Start heading into town; Tatsumi is right there. He'll throw some demons at you and scram. Once you've dealt with them, keep after him. Check in the houses for stuff, if you want. You'll run into him again up by the well. Once you beat them, you'll notice there's a Dragon Jaw blocking the stairs. You'll have to have a Wind-order demon to use the glowing yellow wind-path; fortunately, there are Angels in this area that would do nicely, if you haven't picked one up already. The wind-path will drop you at the gambling parlor, so head back out to the street. You'll have to take the long way around, because of the Dragon Jaws. On the way, you'll get jumped by some more Forms and a Nezha, so watch out. There's an Onmoraki hanging out between some of the houses (this is the same way you chased Tatsumi in the real world); talk to him for some tips. Follow the paths until you reach another wind-path to get to the next area. This'll drop you in the alley near the long roof. The side alley has another wind-path that'll drop you back at the start if you missed anything. If you talk to the Poltergiest further down the main alley, it'll tell you that there's a wall in the way, which you can see when you get close enough. You'll need a Fury-order demon's Use Force ability to get past it. If you don't have one already, there are several Obariyons running around this area. (This is also a good place to build MAG back up if you've run low; the Obariyons are weak to force attacks.) Once you're past the wall, you'll run into Victor's servant again, who will inform you that you can now do sword alchemy at the Gouma-Den... and conveniently, there's a Dragon Cave right there. Once you're done, continue up the path until you get to the next wind-path. That'll drop you in the alley next to the abandoned temple, but you'll have to take the roof to get there. Nakasiwame is in the corner if you need her, and the wind-path next to her will drop you back in the alley near the wind-path back to the beginning of the level. You definitely want to save before you nter the courtyard because you'll end up in a boss fight after you approach Tatsumi. This might be a good time to fuse demons and improve your sword. If you fuse a Chou-keshin, and any demon with Agi and/or Fire Bullet who isn't weak to ice, they'll come in very handy. ===================== Binbou-gami ===================== Yes, it's this guy again. And *this* time, you can actually kill it! Binbou- gami is weak to fire, so pull out a Pyro or a custom with fire abilities. Fire Bullet is your best choice, because of the way he warps. Plus it allows you to keep your distance. You'll also want a healer; if you can fuse a Chou-keshin, do it. Not only does she come equipped with Dia, but she eats ice attacks. Failing that, use an Angel or a custom you've fused with healing abilities, but don't use Pixie. (She's weak to ice.) Every time you do enough damage that he falls out of his cloud, you'll get a bunch of MAG. Once he starts with the Money Rain attack, stay out of the round shadows, and dodge the big rolling coins. Get to the center of the arena to dodge the last part of the attack. It will also help if you use L2 to keep your demons out of harm's way. ===================== Send the freak packing to return to Mannen-Cho. Corner Tatsumi to get some info, FINALLY. Not much, however. At least he's out of your hair. You'll automatically return to the Detective Agency and brief Narumi. Chapter End. ===================== Chapter 2: Assassin's Bloodline [W-02] ===================== Akane will show up, and give you exactly no help. But she brings cake, so I guess it's okay. But fortunately, Tae's been busy. You'll be in Tsukigata Village for a while. Note that you can't use the headquarters command or leave the village just yet. You'll get pointed at the Fukuroku Inn, but there's a couple things to do first. You can't get at the sparkly at the bus stop yet, so just head to town. Tsukigata Village is a creepy place. Most of the people standing around won't have much to say, so you want a Pagan-order demon to read their minds. There's a Travelling Scholar on the street who says as much. If you take the first left from the main street, it'll put you in a small area with more people to talk to and an Anti-Poison at the top of this area. Also on the main street is a peddler, since you can't reach Konnou-Ya. At the top of the street, Tae will direct you to the inn. Take the alley she indicates, then go down the stairs and follow the path to the dead end to get Mansaku Sake. When you go back up the stairs, you'll see a little girl and an Ox Bezoar. You can read the chicken's mind. The inn is at the head of the path, if you want to go ahead and stop in, but there's some more stuff to get. Take the right hand path to get to the yard with the cow for some more info and a Twig. If you go to the left of the inn, it'll take you to the stairway you need to go up to get to the mansion, but the guard won't let you past yet. The path from the inn and the main street both run into the watchtower courtyard. If you go to the left of the watchtower, you'll be able to reach the sparkly (Anti-Mind) on the top ledge you saw from the lower yard. Since Gouto won't let you leave the village yet, once you have everything, you might as well head to the inn. Once everyone gets done talking and Tae gets done being annoying, you get some sleep, and then investigations can start in earnest. The inn is considered a branch of headquarters, so you can do everything you'd do at the Detective Agency here, including doing item Case Files. However, you can't do any of the case files that require you to go hunt something down until you return to the Capital. You can leave the village proper now, though you can't get to many areas yet. If you go up to the residential area, you can reach a Takumi Sake on the map, and the Tento Springs. The Tento Springs is one of the areas where demons run amok, so be careful. There's not much you can do there yet, except level, maybe find some new demons, and access the Gouma-Den through the Dragon Cave. If you happen to run into an Obaryion, you can negotiate for a Case File; send him to Narumi. Talk to Narumi; he's standing by the watchtower, then go talk to the man guarding the path. He's not budging yet, so you need to get more information with a Pagan-order demon. If you ask about the chief, then read his mind, he'll mention the chant. There are two little girls singing that creepy rhyme on the main street, talk to them. The one with the kerchief won't help, but the one with the tied hair will invite you to sing along. Do so. Then return to the guard, and talk to him again. As long as you've memorized the song, he'll let you through. The next stop is Tento Woods. Finally, someone is helpful! Sort of. (And yes, she always talks like that.) If you take the left path, you can reach the Tento Shrine Annex, but there's nothing there to do now. There's a wind-path nearby that will take you to an area with a blue crystal with a Bead in it. Continue up the path. Centipede Road is to the left, but you don't want to go there yet. Well, you could, there may be some demons there you don't have yet. But you literally can't get anywhere there. BE SURE to have a Volt-order, a Frost-order, and a Pyro-order demon on hand before you continue up the path; when the High Pixie dumps you in the backwoods, you'll need them. The area just south of the entrance is dark, you'll need a Volt demon's light up ability, or you'll slip and fall and lose all your money. There's a crystal with an Amethyst in it somewhere on the path, and a sparkly somewhere else, though you can't do anything with the sparkly yet. There's a frozen wall in the middle of the woods, which you'll need a Pyro demon for. There's a burning wall that you'll likewise need a Frost demon for. There's a wind path past the burning wall. That'll lead you to a maze of sorts; it's worth following all the paths because there's a lot of stuff in there, but it's time consuming. The wind path behind you when you first reach the maze will take you back to the forest proper. Once you have all the stuff you want, make your way out of the backwoods. You'll end up back at the crossroads. The High Pixie will once again warp you back there, so just find your way out again. When you get back to the crossroads again, head for the mansion. The High Pixie will let you pass this time. You run into more stone-walling, so mind reading should be obvious. Talk to the servant in front of the mansion until you start getting somewhere. The village chief will come down to talk to you. Then dismiss you. Narumi will leave, heading for the hot springs. These are NOT the Tento Springs, the resort hot springs are right next to the inn. Head back to the village. You'll notice no one is around in town, save the peddler, the scholar, and the innkeeper. The innkeeper has a couple of messages for you, but neither is very important. To get to the hot springs, go to the inn, then go right. When you're ready to progress the story, tell Narumi you're done for the day. Did you see that coming? And Narumi seems to be a man of many skills. Once you're out of the cell, grab the Ox Bezoar on the ground, then head out. Aaaand it's back to the maze from hell. Jiromaru's back, and it's weak to fire. So have fun. However, this time, it's a scripted fight, you can't win it. So instead of giving Jiromaru the pasting he deserves, you end up back in strobe land. New friends, yay. Or at least someone who *doesn't* want to kill you. And Geirin talks exactly like Nagi, that's probably where she picked it up. At least he seems to make more sense. Fortunately, Geirin can make the villagers listen to him. More talking, all of which lives up to the Devil Summoner tradition of making my head hurt. But hey, at least you can get uncursified now. You'll also get some Insect Cages and Birdlime. This is how you catch Luck Locusts, which will appear randomly in battle from now on. You want these things. Use the Birdlime on the locusts to catch them. When you get back to where you can do some shopping, stock up on the stuff. Once the meeting is at an end, you automatically return to the Capital. If you get cursed again (the status looks like two down arrows on Raidou's name plate), you can fix it at the Nameless Shrine. Time to sit through another of Narumi's inane meetings. Once it's over, Narumi will point you at the Narita residence, but you can do some other stuff first, like Case Files. This would also be a good time to visit the Shin-Sekai for more Case Files. You can grab a couple in Fukagawa-cho and Mannen-Cho, too. When you're ready, head for the Narita residence. Guess what, all hell's broken loose. Get ready for the Fukorutsubo. Again. You'll run into a pair of ninjas in the halls, who will set Jiromaru on you. ===================== Jiromaru ===================== Same thing as the last fight, weak to fire. When it says "Jiromaru is preparing for something!" protect your demons, because its next attack causes confusion. Just pull a Pyro or a custom with fire abilities out and go to town. At this point, Jiromaru shouldn't be any sort of threat. ===================== Make your way to the end of the Fukorutsubo. This time, you're fighting the Fukoshi themselves. If you ran out of MAG on the way through, it might be worth stopping to check with Nakisiwame. ===================== Fukoshi Black Mask ===================== They teleport around the field, so you have their work cut out for them. When it says "Fukoshi is preparing for something!" protect your demons and run around like crazy to avoid the Jiraya attack. The Disturbance attack is much like Raidou's special sword attack, so stay out of it. The Fukoshi are weak to ice, so a Frost-order or a custom with Bufu or another ice attack will work nicely. So would a healer, just to be safe. ===================== Once you've defeated them, the Fukorutsubo will vanish, and you'll be able to get inside. I suggest saving before doing so, because Dahn's a badass. You should also stock up on Anti-Poisons and healing items. ===================== Dahn and Taromaru ===================== Okay, first of all, Dahn is exceedingly tough. Second of all, he's got two nasty attacks: Poison Smash and Demon Hunt. Poison smash will probably poison everyone in a twenty foot radius. Demon Hunt will beat the crap out of your demons if they're in range; fortunately, it's a very close range melee attack. If you can pull them back just before he launches it, they won't get caught in it. But you still will probably go through several demons and a lot of MAG. Casters will fare better, as they'll stay out of range of his Demon Hunt attack. Don't even bother using fire on Dahn. Be ready to switch to using items to heal if you run out of MAG, which is a possibility. When you get Dahn to half health, you'll get some MAG and he'll summon Taromaru. Taromaru is actually not quite as nasty to fight as Dahn is. He's a lot like Jiromaru, except weak to ice, and has a charge attack called Overdrive. If you survived this long, you shouldn't have any problems, and killing Taromaru will net you a lot of MAG. Once Taromaru is down, Dahn comes back. In this stage, he'll use a huge area effect attack called Burning Resolve; this will REALLY HURT. However, he will no longer use his Poison Smash attack. Just keep an eye on your health and take him out. ===================== You'll get another Insect Cage for beating him. After some exposition, you'll return to the Detective Agency to end the chapter. Chapter End. ===================== 4. Bosses [B!] ===================== Boss Strategies, for both the storyline bosses, and the optional ones. Most of these are the same as the strategies in the Walkthrough section. ===================== Story Bosses [B-S] ===================== Bosses you must fight to continue the story. ===================== Jorougumo [SB01] ===================== You'll get a second demon here, but unfortunately, you can't keep her. You'll get the strategy screen for the first time, too. Set Alraune to heal, and Tam Lin to Zio, and just lay waste. When Jorougumo hits half health, you'll get instructions on how to make your demons dodge, but you really shouldn't need to in this fight. Inugami is weak to fire attacks, so Agi or Fire Bullet is your friend. Watch your hp and just keep at it. If you win, you can get Inugami as your demon. (If you already have an Inugami, through fusion, you'll get an item.) ===================== Jiromaru [SB03] ===================== A Pixie or anyone else with Dia is a good choice for this, then someone who can take some punishment. **Jiromaru does not *seem* to have any weaknesses, this is currently under investigation.** When he jumps up into the air, it is a good idea to hold L2 to protect your demons and run around. Do NOT stand in one place, Hopper Kick does a lot of damage. ===================== Binbou-gami [SB04] ===================== Binbou-gami is weak to fire, so pull out a Pyro or a custom with fire abilities. Fire Bullet is your best choice, because of the way he warps. Plus it allows you to keep your distance. You'll also want a healer; if you can fuse a Chou-keshin, do it. At this point, Jiromaru shouldn't be any sort of threat. ===================== Fukoshi Black Mask [SB06] ===================== They teleport around the field, so you have their work cut out for them. ===================== Dahn and Taromaru [SB07] ===================== Okay, first of all, Dahn is exceedingly tough. Second of all, he's got two nasty attacks: Poison Smash and Demon Hunt. Poison smash will probably poison everyone in a twenty foot radius. Demon Hunt will beat the crap out of your demons if they're in range; fortunately, it's a very close range melee attack. In this stage, he'll use a huge area effect attack called Burning Resolve; this will REALLY HURT. However, he will no longer use his Poison Smash attack. Just keep an eye on your health and take him out. ===================== Optional Bosses [B-O] ===================== I classify any major demon that you have to fight for a Case File as a boss; however, since the Case Files are extra, they're optional. The same strategies are also in the relevant Case File descriptions. ===================== Oboroguruma [OB01] ===================== You have three minutes to kill it. It's weak to Force, so get a demon that knows Zio and preferably Wind Sword. You probably also want a demon with Dia, because this thing hits hard. But you *DO* need a demon with Force-type skills, because otherwise, you won't kill it in time, unless you're massively overleveled. You simply won't do enough damage. Set Zio to Auto-repeat, keep Wind Sword cast on Raidou, and go to it. ===================== Makami [OB02] ===================== Be prepared to do a lot of healing in this one. You'll have to face a small horde of Makami. They're Volt-order demons, so preferably use demons that are immune to or drain Volt attacks. A healer is a must. You don't need to focus on their weaknesses; you can kill them with just standard attacks. But it may take a while. **Weakness info pending** ===================== Basilisk [OB03] ===================== The Basilisk has a nasty tendency to spam Poisonstrike and Petra, which is why you want the Anti-Poisons and Anti-Stones. Watch yourself and your demons and cure them when they get status. If Raidou gets the stone status, all you can do is wait for it to wear off and hope your demons keep Basilisk distracted long enough that it doesn't shatter you. It's a Frost-order demon, but not vulnerable to fire, so don't even bother with Pyro-order demons. Volt attacks should work on it nicely, though. You'll also want someone with healing skills, preferably *not* vulnerable to ice. **Verification of weakness pending** ===================== 5. Case Files [CF!] ===================== Most of these are sidequests, but a few are required to progress the story. You get these from several different sources, particularly the Owner of the Shin- Sekai. Talk to everyone as often as possible (including negotiating with demons) in order to get them. If the Case File titles are red, that means you need to go somewhere else and do something. If the titles are blue, that means you just need to have the item needed to hand over, and don't have to go anywhere. ===================== Case File 1 [CF-01] ===================== ===================== Stocking Up (1) [CF101] ===================== From: Owner of Konnou-Ya What with the earthquakes on one hand and the Public Security Law on the other, my nose for profits tells me to stock up on Medicine. Why don't you fetch me 5 Medicines? Eh? What do you say? Do we have a deal? Reward: Ox Bezoar x1 This is available after speaking to the owner of the Shin-Sekai Soda Joint for the first time. By the time you can do this, you've probably picked up enough Medicines to do this right away. If not... well, go buy some from Konnou-ya and give them back. You don't have to leave the Detective Agency to do it. This case is repeatable, but if you're going to repeat it, just use Medicines you find, because you'd be spending the same amount to buy a single Ox Bezoar as you would to buy 5 Medicines. ===================== Collection Warrant (1) [CF102] ===================== From: Army Science Lab IMPERIAL ARMY BEGINNING STUDY OF SUPERNATURAL INCIDENTS STOP YOUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE US WITH Life Stone x10 STOP PREPARED TO OFFER AMETHYST x1 IN RETURN END Reward: Amethyst x1 This case file is available after speaking to the officer in Kasumidai in Chapter 2. This one should be easy; Life Stones tend to accumulate. If you don't have enough, you can buy them from Konnou-Ya. You don't have to leave the Detective Agency, and it's repeatable. ===================== Kagami Hell! [CF103] ===================== From: Ouran High Student I heard a curse caled the Murasaki Kagami. If I don't forget that name before my 20th birthday, I'll be cursed for life! I heard I can get rid of it with a stone called Pyro Steel. My friends Fumiko and Yaeko could use some, too. Get as many as possible! Reward: Skill Steel x2 This is available after speaking to the owner of the Shin-Sekai Soda Joint for the first time. By the time you can do it, you've probably picked up some Pyro Steel. It's not a bad deal, trade one Pyro for two Skill Steel. This quest is repeatable, and you don't have to leave the Detective Agency. ===================== Low on Stock (1) [CF104] ===================== From: Harada & Co. I've had the worst luck stocking up on merchandise lately, and I need Wood Ornament x2 immediately. If you can find them for me, I'll give you the Plastic I just imported. It's made of the latest technology- some kind of synthetic resin. Reward: Plastic x1 This is available after speaking to the owner of the Shin-Sekai Soda Joint for the first time. This quest depends on you picking up Wood Ornaments from treasure crystals and finding them laying around. Don't sell them to Konnou-Ya. You don't need to leave the Detective Agency. ===================== Request for Gems (1) [CF105] ===================== From: Jewel Merchant R How ya doing, my man? I'll cut to the chase: I want Aquamarine x1. Your reward will be a rare goodie I've been saving for the occasion. Don'tcha think the best way to get jewels is to chat up a demon? Reward: Frost Steel x5 You get this by negotiating with an Obariyon or Agathion in Dark Mannen-Cho. (It seems to depend on what you have in your lineup.) When he asks where a friend of his can get jewels, refer him to the Narumi Detective Agency. You've probably picked an Aquamarine up by now. You don't have to leave the detective agency to do it. This case is repeatable. ===================== Demons for Science! (1) [CF106] ===================== From: Dr. Victor Could you bring me the Pagan-order demon Lilim? I need that demonic power which only Lilith's childlren possess for my studies. In return, I offer you this Used Camera that I picked up in Germany. Reward: Used Camera x1 This is available after speaking to the owner of the Shin-Sekai Soda Joint for the first time. You don't need to leave the Detective Agency. If you want to do this pretty soon after you get it, you'll have to fuse a Lilim. But the beauty of that is that you can just resummon it after. You also need to do this case to do any of the Photog Needed cases. ===================== Lab Rats [CF107] ===================== From: Dr. Victor I've been doing cutting-edge experiments with a form of teleportation. If you can help me, I'll make it worth your while. Meet me at the Dragon Cave in Dark Tsukudo-Cho, and I'll give you all the details there. Reward: Smoked Salmon x1 To get this one, go to the Ushigome-gaeri Bridge. There's a housemaid standing near the light pole; speak to her. (If you've spoken to the boy by Konnou-Ya, this is the same woman he thought was a ghost; he's not exactly wrong.) After asking where the Narumi Detective Agency is, she spazzes out and turns out to be an Ippon-Datara. After it calms down, you'll be able to return to the Detective Agency and pick up the case file. Upon accepting it, you'll also be able to reach Shinoda by streetcar, and Dark Tsukodo-Cho via the Ritual of Entry. Once you reach Dark Tsukodo-Cho, head straight for the Dragon Cave near the bridge and check it out. Victor will arrive, and ask you to test his invention. Say yes, and he'll give you the Tesseract Box, which allows you to access the Gouma-Den from any Dragon Cave. And that's it. You need the Smoked Salmon to progress the story; Satake in Fukagawa-Cho demands it. ===================== Ghost Driver [CF108] ===================== From: Rookie Summoner Taidou I'm investigating the phantom vehicle (a ghost car?) that's been sighted recently. It appears from the rear, drives around for a couple minutes, then takes off. It was sighted in Kurisu-zaka, but I've heard it went down to Dark Tsukudo-Cho. Please investigate and then destroy it. Reward: Rusted Screw x1 This is available after speaking to the owner of the Shin-Sekai Soda Joint in Chapter 1. Head to Dark Tsukudo-Cho. If you speak to the Agathion hanging out by the corner, he mentions an awesome car that just went up the hill. Follow the side alley around to get to the area where you fought Inugami before, near the Tamonten Shrine. Go to the end of the street to run into Oboroguruma. ===================== Oboroguruma ===================== You have three minutes to kill it. Set Zan to Auto-repeat, keep Wind Sword cast on Raidou, and go to it. ===================== Stare from the Cracks [CF109] ===================== From: Exhibit Barker My men tell me someone's watching them from the crack in the lattice door. Can you check out the lattice door at the side of our exhibit in Fukagawa-Cho? If there's anyone who can fit in such a narrow space, I'd definitely want them in my troupe. Reward: Dragon Tiles x1 You'll need to go to Fukagawa-Cho to check this one out. The Exhibit is near the exit to the Red-Light District, and the door in question is near the corner. Examine it to flush Makami, who is responsible. ===================== Makami ===================== Be prepared to do a lot of healing in this one. You'll have to face a small horde of Makami. They're Volt-order demons, so preferably use demons that are immune to or drain Volt attacks. A healer is a must. You don't need to focus on their weaknesses; you can kill them with just standard attacks. But it may take a while. **Weakness info pending** ===================== Cursed House [CF110] ===================== From: The Kogure Family There's a row house nearby that makes anyone who stays there sick. I wrote it off as a creepy rumor, but the current tenant says he feels ill... Can you see if there really is a curse? If you'll take the case, come to the Mannen-Cho gambling parlor and I'll tell you the details there. Reward: Wind Bronze x2 This case file is available after speaking to Osamu Kogure in Chapter 2. Stock up on Anti-Poisons and Anti-Stones before you return to Mannen-Cho and speak to Osamu. He'll explain the situation, and give you directions. The house you need is by the well. Speak to the owner of the house who is inside. Gouto will note there is a demonic stench about the place, so head outside. Go around to the back door, and use a Volt-order's Inspect ability. Examine what appears, then go examine the chicken that's freaking out in front. You'll have to use a Frost-order's Cool Down ability to calm the chicken down enough to see what's going on. This is going to be a nasty fight. ===================== Basilisk ===================== The Basilisk has a nasty tendency to spam Poisonstrike and Petra, which is why you want the Anti-Poisons and Anti-Stones. **Verification of weakness pending** ===================== Once you defeat it, you'll have your choice of rewards. The heavy treasure contains a couple of bugs, which will come in handy later. ===================== Case File 2 [CF-02] ===================== ===================== Biting Spirit ===================== From: Imperial Navy Medic The soldiers are being tormented by strange bite marks that appear during training exercises. They say it's caused by the "Biting Man." As a medic, my first priority is to relieve the men's pain. Can you bring me some medicine called Ox Bezoar? I think it should do the trick. Reward: 1000 yen This case file is available after speaking to the officer in Kasumidai. By the time you get this, you should have at least one Ox Bezoar lying around your inventory. If you don't, that's what Konnou-Ya is for, although you'll lose all your profit. You don't have to leave the Detective Agency to do this, and this is repeatable. ===================== Missing Tiles ===================== From: Narumi I lost my Mahjong set! I wonder if there's a mischevious Zashikiwarashi hiding in the Ginroukaku building? I bet the tiles are scattered all over the place... Let me know when you find them all, okay? Reward: 10000 yen The tiles are indeed scattered everywhere; some of them are lying around as items to find, but you'll have to complete the Stare from the Cracks case file to get the last one. There are four parts. You don't have to leave the Detective Agency. **Tile locations pending** ===================== Photog Needed (1) ===================== From: Kichou Asakura I'm gathering data on several historic sites to publish a book on folklore. I want you to snap a photo of a certain shrine in Shinoda. It's been there for ages, and it's pretty desolate. It might be important, actually... Although I don't know for what. Reward: Tae Sticker x1 You need to complete the Demons for Science! (1) case file to be able to do this; you need the Used Camera. Head out to the Nameless Shrine, and walk up and down the bushes lining the path on the left hand side. Eventually, you should get an option to take a picture. Take it, and turn it in. **Origin info pending** ===================== Bug Collector (1) ===================== From: Agathion I'm a devil, it's true. But I just love collecting bugs. I'm looking for a bug called a Beetle right now in the human world. It's a rare one known as the Six- Legged Samurai, I guess. Reward: Turquoise x3 This case file is available after negotiating with a Pyro Jack in the Fukorutsubo found at the Narita residence in Chapter 2. If you picked the heavy treasure as a reward from the Cursed House case file, you'll already have one. Just hand it over. ===================== Selling Umbrellas ===================== From: Shizu Iida I'm trying to earn money for the medical bills my husband racked up during the Red Cape incident, so I'm selling the umbrellas I make. I know it sounds like I've been planning this all along, but... could I ask you to buy an Umbrella for 2000 yen? Reward: Shizu's Umbrella x1 This case file is available after speaking to the bath house guards in Fukagawa-Cho in Chapter 2. You don't have to leave the Detective Agency, and this case is repeatable. ===================== Demons for Science (2) ===================== From: Dr. Victor I need to study the physiology of a certain demon to realize my dream of creating an artificial life form. The one I'm looking for is a soulless demon created in the Asias. The key element in my study is the furious power this demons possesses. Reward: Opal x2 He wants a Nezha. They can be found in the Tento Woods and the Fukorutsubo at the Narita residence in Chapter 2. Or you can fuse one. **Origin info pending** ===================== I'm Collecting Demons ===================== From: Kid Summoner Shigeru I'm in grade school. I work as a devil summoner with my grandma. She's a priestess! I need a Frost-order demon called Jubokko, okay? I'll give you this shiny stone I got from a demon if you do it... Reward: Aquamarine x2 **More info pending** ===================== Fear of Betobeto ===================== From: Kasumidai Regimental Sentry While I was patrolling Kasumidai, I felt like someone was following me... but I didn't see anyone there. My gran once told me when that happens, it's Betobeto doing it. It's not actually hurting anything, but I'm afraid that something terrible might happen if I ignore it. Can you look into this? Reward: 32 Gunto x1 Available after speaking to the Owner of the Shin-Sekai in Chapter 2. Head for the Kasumidai base. Follow the path past the sentry box. You'll run into not Betobeto, but a small army of Obariyon. They're also souped up Obariyon, and your regular hits won't do much. Hit them with Force-type attacks, and have a healer standing by. =============================================================================== Copyright 2009 Megan McKnight ===============================================================================
