Crest Location/Magic Guide

This guide goes over a few key features in Shadow Hearts: Covenant.  Namely,
the Crests, where to find them, which magic is found on each, and where you
must place to Crests in order to perfect the Solomon Key.

This crest list will be done in the order of which you can obtain them in the 
game, as to avoid spoilers.  There is a shortened "list" that just has the
names of the crests before the full list, if you're just looking for a simple
list.  I have attempted to avoid spoilers 

The guide is completely done through both Disk 1 and 2.  All Crests, including 
the ultimate Crests are complete.

If you're looking for a quick way around this guide, I've added codes to help

This section will cover a few general questions which you might have about 
Crests and Magic without delving too far into spoiler territory.

Question:  How do I equip Crests?                                      [q1ecr]

Answer:
It's not too hard.  The command "Change Crest" on the allows you to change
your currently equipped crests. Each Crest requires a certain amount of DMC
to equip to a character.  If you don't have enough DMC points remaining, you
will be unable to equip a Crest. You must find your balance for DMC uses to
use spells effectively, cheaply, and have a wide variety of spells on each
character.  Equip them however you like, that's part of the fun of the game.

Yuri will never be able to equip Crests.

Question:  How do I tell the effect of my equipped spells?             [q2spe]

Answer:
When the Crest is selected, press the Triangle Button (default) and 
you can see the effect of the spells and which spells the Crest has available.

Question:  Why are certain MP costs of spells in blue?                 [q3scb]
--------------------
Answer:
This happens when you already have that same spell on that character.  
So if the character already has a Cure spell, which is base 6 MP, and you 
equipped another crest with the same Cure spell, then the MP cost would be 
shown in blue, or as 3 MP, instead of 6. This works for every spell in which 
are on more then one Crest.  Some spells which you can only get once, namely 
on the Demon Lord Crests, will never be shown in blue.

Question: What is this "Solomon's Key" and how do I use it?            [q4sma]

Answer:
As soon as possible, you should equip your crests onto the Solomon's Key or
map.  If you have every crest for an area (such as Forest of Passion) and they 
are equipped in the right locations, then the crests will permanently be 
placed there, and they Crests will obtain new spells.  If, for example, you do 
not do this, only one Crest in the entire game will have a basic "Cure" spell, 
but if you have a few areas of the map completed, then at least 3 Crests will 
have Cure. 

You will be told when all the crests are in the right locations and will 
automatically obtain the new abilities.

What are, and how do I obtain, the "extra" spells?                     [q5exr]

Answer: 
This goes back to correctly placing each crest on the Solomon's Map.  
When each Crest is placed correctly, you will get access to extra spells.

What do the descriptions on the spells mean?                           [q6sdc]
--------------------
Answer:
When looking at a spell description, you may notice "Circular, Small, 1 hit,
2 hits, linear, up, right, double right, down, among others.  What these are
telling you is two things. One, most obviously, the hit area of a spell.  A
circular spell that hits a "small" area obviously hits a small area in battle.

However, it also has a different use, which is Combos.  If you're doing a
combo and you knock an enemy into the air, a spell that only hits mid or
ground level enemies will not hit that enemy and your spell will be wasted!

This is simply a list of all of the "Demon Crests" in the game, organized by
the order which they appear.  There is no spell information in this section,
as it's just a list.  The next section will have more in-depth information
on where you obtain the crests.


If you're looking for a crest in particular, I've added a way to search,
however it's likely just to be easier if you type in the Crest Name into
Control - F.

This section goes over each crest and their spells one-by-one.  Each crest is
listed in the order you obtain them, so don't look too far ahead in order to
avoid spoilers.  I've avoided as many spoilers as I can, but location names,
boss names, and character names may spoil you minimally.

There is one exception.  There is a spell called "Entrance." This spell's MP
cost changes throughout the game and is based off of your maximum MP.  In
other words, the higher MP you have, the more MP the spell will cost to use.

Unfortunately, due to real life time constraints I'm unable to reply to EMails
any longer.  I thank everyone who has read this guide and sent me EMails in
the past.  I knew there were mistakes and I planned on fixing them.  I did get
around to it, but it's only 5 years too late.

If you wish to use this guide on your site, it must remain unchanged and in
the original format.  All credit must go to the original author, Cyril or
Stephanie Nutter, and it must not be sold for your profit in any way.

Version 1.0: The original version that was made and released far too quickly
when the game was first released.
Version 1.5: 5 years later, I've revamped the entire guide, fixing formatting
issues, spelling, grammar, and other minor problems.  Not entirely complete
revamp this time, just some minor fixes.
