2. Introduction (SW2EIN)
====================

Samurai Warriors 2: Empire is an action/strategy game produced by Koei Co.
Ltd. The game featured around 400 officers and one of the main purpose of
this guide is to help you keep track of your progress.

In this guide, I will assume that you are used to this game and don't need
help going through the game. If you need help, I suggest you check out
Rampidzier's FAQ/Walkthrough on GameFAQs which is very well made and explains
everything you need to know.

So far, I can safely assume that the list is completed, but being human, I am
imperfect and might have missed or forgotten a few. I'm opened to any help to
complete it and make sure it is 100% accurate. If you want to share some
information, just send me these informations by e-mail and make sure the
e-mail title won't pass as junk mail:

The character's name
The scenario you played
Which year you found him
Which forces you were playing
Which way you got him (Search/Hire/Join)
Which way you want to be credited (nick, name or both)
Unlocking a character in this game is quite simple, but finding them is the
real challenge here. To unlock a new character to use in Free Mode or the
Divided Land scenario, you must recruit them during the Empire Mode by search
or hire policies.

All the characters' names are stated as they are in the NA version of the
game. That means Given name+ followed by Clan name+. However, they are still
listed in alphabetical order by family name. Example: Yukimura Sanada will be
in the ST section and Nobunaga Oda will be in the MNO section.

Although you are free to use the checks in any order, I highly suggest the
following order, top goes left and down goes right:

Officer is unlocked
Level 20 is reached
Every stat is maxed
Every skill is maxed
4th Weapon unlocked
1000 kills medal obtained

4. Unlockables (SW2EUN)
====================

SECRET HORSES

-Matsukaze
You must be a very good leader, so keep using Inspections and
Exemption policies so that you are able to use Benefaction. Use it a lot and
if you have three horses or less, some peasants will give it to you. Though
Matsukaze has no special skill, it's the only horse with maxed Stamina, Power
and Speed at the same time.

-Persian Mare
You must have a port that allows you to use the Chinese Trade policy. Once
you do, keep using it until you gain the Persian Mare for a successful trade.
Make sure you own less than three horses before you try getting it. The
Persian Mare has maxed Stamina and Speed, and almost the max Power, but its
main feature is the Ferus skill, which will set the enemies on fire when you
run into them.

-Moon Child
See the Persian Mare above. It's the same thing, but you must use the
Western Trade policy instead of the Chinese Trade policy. Moon Child has
maxed Speed and very high Stamina and Power. Though weaker than the other
two secret horses, his No Fall skill will allow you to move around the
battlefield at high speed without risks of being knocked off by musketeers.

UNLOCKING FOURTH WEAPONS

Unlocking a character's fourth weapon is a somewhat tedious task. First of all,
you must know what kind of weapon your character wields (Sword/Spear/Special).
Afterward, you must get that specific weaponsmith to at least level 4. After
that, you must bring him in battle and kill AT LEAST 500 enemies. It can be
pretty difficult at time, but here's the easiest way: bring at least one Goose
formation and use it as a starting formation. Stack 4 Wheel formations for
later use. Also bring an Extend Time tactic. Also, don't bring any allies,
or if you do, put them in defensive positions. When the battle starts, you
have to take out every enemy officers as well as enemy bases in contact with
your main camp. This is only to prevent a catastrophe. After your main camp
is secured, rush into the enemy main camp and start slaying as much as you can.
I highly suggest you do this on Easy or Novice difficulty since it's a bit
harder than it was in Dynasty Warriors 5: Empires. Not only enemies seems to
take a bit longer to respawn, they have shield to prevent you from slaying
them in one hit.

If you feel lucky after unlocking the weapon, you could go for another 500
enemies to get the 1000 medal, but I have yet to discover its purpose in this
game.

In future games, if you want to get your character's fourth weapon again, just
get your smith to level four again, and use him for one map. You will get the
weapon after the battle without any difficulties.

1000 KILL MEDAL

If you kill 1000 enemies or more on one map, you will receive this token.
Thanks to Anthony Porter (as well as many people who confirmed it), I actually
noticed that it does break the limit, since my Tadakatsu now has all stats
maxed.

MORE UNLOCKABLES COMING SOON!

5. Maxing a character's Stats (SW2ECI)
====================

At first, this section was supposed to give the max stats of every character,
but since the 1000 kills medal has been confirmed to be a limit breaker, such
a section is pointless. In stead, I will present you with a simple strategy
to max your stats, even at level 20.

First of all, I highly suggest you unlock the All-Round Training Policy. It
will make everything easier as it does the effect of Duel, Debate AND Tea
Ceremony. This policy has been found by ice beam from GameFAQS' forums.

"I got a new policy I've never heard of. It's called All-Round (description
says this person and this person study all types of training). I'll give you
the details. It was suggested by Yoshiaki Ashikaga in the Unification of
Kansai scenario. Make sure you're playing as the Yoshiteru Ashikaga clan."

I admit I fixed his quote a bit, but nothing major, what he says works.

Now that you've got it, you should get the 1000 Kills medal. I highly suggest
you have either a fourth weapon or a good third weapon with Demon element on
it. Many suggests the Battle of Dewa for this, so go ahead. Add the Extend
Time Tactic to cut you some slack and run ahead. Put your allies in Defense.
Then, rush in the enemy main camp and fight until you've killed about 950
enemies. Afterward, send your allies in Attack. By the time the commander
appears, you should have 1000 kills, or be very close to it. In the second
case, just watch out for the commander. I also suggest you do this on Novice
Difficulty since those damned shielded guards will only take two or three hits
to kill, and you want to have the time to get the 1000 kills before the fight
is over.

Now you've got the 1000 kills medal. All that's left to do is max your
character's stats. The fastest way to do this is to go in the Divided Land
scenario and start a game with just 4 forces (make sur you have Hard March or
that the enemy capital is easily accessible). Your force with 10 fiefs, a
second force with 10 fiefs, one with a single fief and the last one, made of
the remaining fiefs. From there, conquer the 2 bigger enemies in two turns,
and ally with the single fief one once you're at his border. Afterward, if
you don't have much spare gold, start using the All-Round Policy with your
character and any other (preferably one who has all the skills). The point is
to get all those skills maxed (the red and green ones, though not necessary,
will be good for the perfectionnists). By the time you got all the skills,
your stats should be pretty high. Also, don't forget the rare skills are
obtained from the Chinese and Western Trading Policies. Once your skills are
maxed, there is no further point of shopping with your character, so just keep
using the All-Round Policy until your stats stop rising. I suggest using it a
couple more time just to make sure it's over or if he just didn't get any stats
that turn.

Also, for perfectionnists, keep in mind that only Nene, Kotaro, Hanzo and Edits
with their stance will start with the 2X Jump Rare skill. However, anyone can
learn it.

6. Weapon Info (SW2EWI)

Here you will find the names of the weapons, as well as the basic stats
for the fourth weapons. Know that every first weapons has two stats
slots, every second has four and every third has six. To know how to
