The game begins with a scene involving three characters.

o------------------o
| / - / - Tutorial |
o------------------o

Enemies: Plain Summon (x3)

Objects: N/A

Protection: N/A

Start by getting accustomed to the battle system. Look on the right of the
screen, you will see a stack of character icons, this represents whose turn it
currently is, and who will get the next turn. The faster your speed, the more
turns you will get.

To move your character, use your left analog stick and select a location
anywhere inside the red circle. You can move more than once in a turn, but
only a certain distance total. Press X to select where you wish to move, and
circle to cancel the move.

To attack, put your cursor over an enemy and press X. Select attack form the
menu, and then choose an attack to use (currently Strike is your only choice.)
You will automatically move up to an enemy if you are far away, which will use
up some of your movement ability. Now that you understand the basics, get
ready to control your character yourself.

This is a simple tutorial fight, in order to win simply select the enemy and
choose attack. Once you've attacked simply press X and choose "End Turn" from
the menu. Rinse and repeat until the three enemies are defeated.

o---o

After the battle is an introduction to the game's characters, story and so on.

o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= "A Jill-of-all-Trades" =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

At the beginning of chapter 1 you will meet some new allies, "Merchant",
"Healer" and "Soldier." After they join you will have control of your
characters on the island.

Before anything else do the following. Begin my running behind the house and
jump onto the back deck, then from there onto the roof. Climg to the top and
you will receive 100 Bordeaux. After, go down onto the ground and throw every
NPC onto the roof (press square to throw, and move left analog stick to choose
where they will land). When you do, begin stacking them on the highest part
of the roof. Throw three people onto top of each other, then begin lifting
people yourself and jumping up the stack, setting them manually on top. On
your way up you should receive a Change Book. Once you have every character
stacked, and you stand on top and jump, a bottle phantom will join your party.

Save your game and examine the mailbox to go to the world map. Control the
cursor with the left analog stick. When you're ready choose Terra Firma by
hovering over it and pressing X.

                     o---| Episode 1: "Possessed" |---o

***********************************($25aC)************************************

As you enter Terra Firma, a scene will occur in a small village. After it
ends you will find yourself on the world map again. Choose Terra Firma and
you will be prompted to try a tutorial battle, which is optional.

o------------------o

Enemies: Quack Scrabbit (x1)

Objects: Plain Rock (x1)
         Plain Flower (x1)

Protection: N/A

The tutorial takes you through the basics of confining. Confining is how you
bring phantoms into battle to help fight with you. Marona can confine
phantoms into objects that appear in battle, simply highlight the object,
press X, and choose confine. From here you can select any phantom. Different
objects have different properties that will in turn affect the stats of the
phantom, so check these values before choosing which object to confine them
to.

For the battle, begin by confining Ash to the rock. Select any other
character to confine to the flower. Now end Marona's turn and attack the
Scrabbit with Ash. After about two attacks you will win the battle.

o------------------o
| / - / - Tutorial |
o------------------o

Enemies: Subtle Scrabbit (x3)

Objects: Snakish (x1)
         Plain Weed (x2)
         Plain Rock (x2)

Protection: N/A

The next tutorial centres around the use of items you find in battle. Watch
the tutorial scene.

You'll notice the sword is like other items and can have phantoms confined to
it. The bottle you recruited from the island should be confined to the sword,
when his remove turns are up you will obtain the sword for yourself.

Using weapons in battle is simple, simply select them and lift them to equip.
From there you may have special skills added to your skill list. With a
weapon in hand, you can throw it if you don't want it anymore (one throw per
turn.) You can also guard with it, when guarding, if you are attacked the
weapon's hp total will deplete and if it becomes zero then you can no longer
use the weapon.

In this particular case, just confine Ash to a rock and use normal attacks to
end the battle (but not before you get the sword.)

o------------------o
| / - / - Tutorial |
o------------------o

Enemies: Aloof Scrabbit (x1)

Objects: Plain Tree (x2)
         Quack Dead Tree (x1)

Protection: Heal 30% Hp (Plain Tree)
            Defense x4 (Quack Dead Tree)

The third tutorial is about protection effects. Objects can emit special
effects that will benefit both you and the enemy. You can take advantage of
this by confining a phantom to an object which is RECEIVING a protection
effect.

To start, select the dead tree and choose lift. You can throw object out of
bounads to get rid of them, so choose throw after lfiting the tree and select
a space outside the map to throw it. The protection on the Scrabbit is now
gone. Confine Ash to the tree receiving healing. Now simply strike the enemy
until it is defeated.

o---o

Following the fights, return to Phantom Isle. You can now purchase items,
equip items, heal up and save your game.

Now head to Terra Firma and choose Deserted Quarry, your first real battle.

o-------------------------o
| I - i - Deserted Quarry |------------------------------------------($25aD)-o

Enemies: Plain Slime (x3)

Objects: Plain Weed (x2)
         Plain Rock (x1)
         Plain Stone (x1)
         Plain Tree (x1),
         Plain Old Tree (x1)

Protection: Heal 30% Hp (Plain Stone)
            Strengthen +30% (Plain Stone)

Additional: Plain Mystic

Make sure you actually defeat the Plain Mystic in this battle, doing so will
enable you to create your own. Start by confining Ash to the rock and send
him up to fight the Plain Mystic. Meanwhile you can bring other characters in
and use them to throw enemies out of bounds if they are not strong enough to
defeat them on their own.

You can now create: Mystic

o-----------------------o
| I - ii - Barren Earth |--------------------------------------------($25aE)-o
o-----------------------o

Enemies: Plain Slime (x5)
         Ruined Slime (x1)
         Snobby Blacksmith (x1)

Objects: Plain Weed (x3)
         Plain Tree (x1)
         Plain Seed (x1)
         Plain Flower (x7),
         Plain Old Tree (x2)
         Plain Rock (x3)
         Plain Cactus (x4)
         Plain Starfish (x2)

Protection: Experience x2 (Ruined Slime)
            Attack x2 (Plain Slime)
            Defense x2 (Plain Slime)
            Strength x2 (Plain Slime)

Obviously for this battle, don't start by going after the blacksmith, as he
has all the protection on him. Defeat the slime enemies to remove his
protection, then defeat the blacksmith last.

You can now create: Blacksmith

o---------------------------o
| I - iii - Primitive Altar |----------------------------------------($25aF)-o

Enemies: Werewolf (x1)
         Aloof Slime (x9)

Objects: Plain Seed (x2)
         Plain Weed (x7)
         Plain Flower (x8)
         Plain Rock (x2)
         Plain Old Tree (x1)
         Plain Starfish (x3)

Protection: N/A

Bring out your best fighters and focus your attacks on Raphael(?) to make sure
he's taken care of before anyone is removed from battle. The slimes deal too
little damage to cause any kind of problem, so they can be picked off easily
after the boss is gone.

o---o

When the battle starts, begin by confining your most powerful character to the
bricks in front of you. There is sort of a barrier at the top of the level
enclosing a bunch of scrabbits, and the Endure Shade has this barrier created.
At first do not kill the bottle, go after all the Scrabbits that come at you.
After you have dispatched them, then kill the bottle and the other scrabbits
will come at you, which you should have no problem disposing of.

First note the Old Man in the upper corner. His "Level up +1" protection
means both Scrabbits he is attached to will gain one level each turn.
Obviously this makes taking out the Old Man a top priority, so begin by
confining your 2nd and 3rd most powerful characters into the two pots beside
you. After run to the right side of the screen towards the direction of the
Old Man, there are no enemies in that area.

On your next turn go up again with Marona and assuming one of the Scrabbits
didn't pick them up, confine your most powerful character to the bricks. The
Old Man doesn't have too much health, but by now the Scrabbits have likely got
a fair number of level ups so they'll be the ones to watch out for. COfnien
the rest of your phantoms in this area (to pots, weeds etc) and gang up on the
two levelled Scrabbits.

For this map the most important thing is to be sure the titlist is dead before
you complete the rest of the map. Other than that it's a good idea to defeat
the manticore before the Useless Shades because they are giving him some bad
protection effects that will disappear once they are defeated. Don't bring
all your phantoms out at once, use Marona to run towards the enemies and
confine your phantoms there to minimize the amount of wasted turns moving
towards the enemy.

Pick off as many of the plain summons as you can as early as possible. The

To make this fight easier, you can skip a few turns while the enemies battle
it out on the other side. Despite the outnumbering, the purple enemies stand

level you'll have to go out before one side wipes out the other. When it's

time, simply just start chucking enemies off the side of the map. Go for the
two main kitties first then pick off the rest. The Phonogrph at the top can
easily be iptained via a bottlemail.

Watch out because this level is super slippery, but that can be used to your

and enemies can easily be thrown off of this map since they bounce and slide.
Do note though that the lower swamp area is not super slippery.

Seems like a pretty normal battle, there's no special characters or bosses to
take into consideration, but the sheer amount of enemies, size of the map and
the fact that they keep picking up huge defense boosting items made lose over
and over here. A careful strategy is your best bet if you aren't too high a

about three turns, using the first three to simply throw the nearest monster
out of bounds.

advantage. Begin by confining some of your good attackers to the Defense +50%
items and begin to pick off the enemies one by one, be sure you didn't summon

Once you've gotten rid of a good chunk of the first few enemies, bring out

dragon and any remaining enemies. There's lots of items here so if you get a
chance, grab one with your bottlemail.

Not a particularly hard battle, some of it is luck dependant if you use this

No matter where you confine people you're going to have to deal with some
hefty disadvantages here, so just live with it. You can throw someone
acrossto the other island to try and take out the naked mimic if you like.
Otherwise you only have one real enemy, so gang up, and even if you are rather
weak, with a few decoys and steady attack you won't have a problem taking him.

All the enemies in this level are stuck with no O.B. so you'll have to either
defeat them all or destory the source of the protection. Ignore that fact
that they may be weaker, destroy the mushrooms first! They steal your weapons
and throw them out of bounds it's infuriating! Especially when you have
everything set and you know you're going to win... unless they take your
stupid sword. Murder them.

Use the slippery ground to your advantage and slide your way from place to

remaining three are content casting spells and damaging each other for
whatever reason, though they will target you if you get too near. Remove the
No O.B. rock if you find yourself needed to chuck those enemies out, besides
that ration your troops so you have enough time to go through the whole map.

This was the second level where I had to seriously reevaluate my levels. What
makes this map challenging is the number of enemies, the slippiness, the fact
they are protected from O.B. and the mushrooms that steal your weapon and
throw it away. Combined makes for one annoying map. Throw those No O.B.
rocks out if you can manage, and maybe even revive the two fallen troops.

If you're really powerful at the point you can just go for a full onslaught,
however if not you'll have to go for the more strategic approach: Send Marona
down the map and confine very weak troops to the Defense +50% trees. The boss
will go for them first and inadvertantly destory his source of double defense.
The fight is yours at that point.

Rather than against your enemy this battle is fought against three cacti
placed around the level. These three cacti have invicibility protecting your
enemy and nothing you do will hurt him until that protection is gone. Once it
is gone however, the real Raphael will lay waste to this enemy so don't worry
about that too much.

In order to win this battle, you must pick off the smaller enemies first one
by one. Each enemy is giving another enemy some good protection effects, so
slowly the more you pick off, the weaker the biggest enemies become. This map
is large and hard to navgate so be sure to split your party up right at the
beginning and send a few down each path. Once you've taken out enough of the
little phantoms, the dragon should go down rather easily.

For an easy win on this fight try the following:

Send Marona up a ways and confine your very weakest character to the treasure
chest. After confine a bunch of expendable characters to all the weapons
lying around. End your turn, the enemies will likely kill a few of your weak
characters including the one confined to the chest so the unarmed protection
will be gone and the enemies won't have any weapons to pick up since your
phantoms are confined to them.

Now summon your strongest party and beat down on the remaining weaponless
enemies. Simple.

This is by no means an easy battle. You will definetely want to use those
Attack +50% items to your advantage, even if they don't have great attack
stats themselves. There are also some Defense +50% ones near the start for
your weaker characters or magic casters. The biggest problem here is the
amount of enemies, combined with the brutal power of the Raven Captain and the
fighters with him (who both use Hurricane Slash, whcih disarms you and deals
massive damage.) If you can't win no matter how hard you try, level up.

An old friend teams up to help you in this battle. Start by taking out the
summons closest to the pillars so they can't destroy the source of their
attack and defense modifiers. Besides that be sure to save at least one
powerful character to summon at the top part of the level, otherwise you'll
have to waste 2-3 precious turns going around the stairs via the left or right
side. All around it isn't too hard a battle.

party twice the level of the enemies and still wind up losing. Send a maximum
of two guys to the area where you start to battle the summons around that
area, and sedn about four characters in the direction of the boss, preferably
on the pillars if they have decent speed, and the SpiriTree that is getting
all the great protection bonuses. Keep and eye on the remove time of the

This level is designed interestingly so that the enemies get harder in the
order you kill them in, because when their teammates die, the Weaken
protection slowly disappears. Doesn't amtter who you kill first the last one
will always be the ahrdest, so gang up and kill them before they pound you
into the ground. Fortunetely there's only three.

One good tactic is actually to damage all three of them before actually
killing them, that way when they do get stronger, it's only one hit or so
before they go down.

There is a huge red barrier here which is maintained by the Dark Blob, however
the blob is particularly strong. Lucky for you it will automatically die
after three turns because of the Damage 40% on it, so you can concentrate on
killing nearby summons until the three turns are up, or if you are strong
enough kill it yourself. If you choose to wait it out, be sure you keep some
good fighters to summon after, other those three turns will tax your removal.

This is an extremely diffucult battle that seems to come almost out of
nowhere. Without even noting that the nemies are extremely strong, it's that
cactus that will devistate. It is giving out "Grounded" protection to pretty
much everything you can confine to on the map, which means you'll never be
able to move. To win this battle have amrona bring an item along that boosts
speed, throw it and confine your fastest character to it (that character
should also be equipped with a speedy weapon.) On their first turn have them
run towards the cactus and throw their weapon. Here's the hard part, hope
between now and their second turn they don't die. On their second turn, run
them to the cactus, grab it and whip it off the edge.

Now you can confine any phantoms you wish to anything, but the battle still
isn't a cakewalk from that point so good luck. If this doesn't work for you
the other alternative is to bring a large number of your own items to cofnine
your party to. Do whatever works best.

This is a large map so you'll have to conserve your phantoms. There are a
number of summon enemies being blocked into a little area but don't worry
about getting in there, the phantoms on the other side will quickly take care
of the vases giving the protection. Start by running to the left side and
confining as many phantoms to as many objects as you can, you'll need them.
Make your way up and to the centre where the three large enemies are, as you
go the summons should move towards you so you won't have to waste any extra
turns moving to them. Take every available oppurtunity to attack even if you
know it won't kill the enemy, this battle could very well end with only one
character remaining, with only one remove turn left. Extremely frustrating.

The battle itself is extremely easy. All the objects have negative protection
on them, so simply bring a couple of your own objects to confine to and hit
him, he has no more Hp or defense than a regular sub-boss enemy, and there's
only one of him. Especially simple if you have some weak characters as bait.

The other thing to do is throw Marona over to the other island where she can
confine the BottleMail to the Changebook, then simply survive long enough to
obtain it. It's a rather rare item.

A rather obnoxious little battle here. Any phantoms you confine to objects
you don't bring yourself will be unarmed. Don't bother trying to take out the
fish that gives the unarmed protection, as it is so well protected itself,
instead concentrate on just using your unarmed characters to wipe eveything
out as fast as you can. They havea nasty habit of spellcasting here but if
you spread people out as much as possible, you'll minimize your casualties.

This is your first real hard battle in awhile. The boss here has over 6000
hit points and a total of four positive protection effects on him. To start
you're going to want to cofnine three fodder characters to the nearest three
objects which are giving him protection, this way the enemy (or you) can
quickly eliminate them and you'll find rather quickly the protection effects
disappear. For the most important one, the Avoid 15dm, you'll have to confine
someone as close as you can to it, who can use their first turn to immediately
go and destory it.

At this point it's a free for all against the boss. If you surround him he'll
hit all your characters with Vortex, if you spread out he'll hit a few of them
with his Soul Burn. While Soul Burn will hit less characters it will deal
about three times as much damage, so consider yourself lucky if he onnly uses
Vortex. The small fry can be taken out whenever you feel the time is right.

This battle may look hard with all those Manticores, and in reality it
probably is, but it's definitely not impossible and may not even require you
do do any extra levelling up. As you may have guessed the bright red
Manticores are more powerful than the Aloof Manticores, almost twice as
powerful in fact so get rid of them first. Your ability to win this battle
will likely rely on your ability to kill the Manticores in one turn. If it
takes more than one turn to kill them (at least the Aloof ones) you will
probably find yourself overwhemed. If this is the case, level up a bit or
upgrade your equipment.

manticores will undoubtedly pick up on their first turn. Here is a suggested
strategy:

Take some weak characters with low remove stats and high speeds, then equip
them with weapons with high speeds. Be sure Marona starts the battle with an
item. Confine a fast weak character to the blossom. On his first turn throw
his weapon and confine another fast/weak character to that. Do this about
three times, by now the first one should be about to disappear. There's no
exactness in this plan but by this time, and before the enemies can swarm you,
you should have a good 4-6 objects on the ground you can confine to fro ma
combination of characters throwing their weapons and disappearing, leaving
whatever they confined to in the first place.

Use these characters and start flinging manticores off the ede if you aren't
strong enough to take them out in a single hit, it's easier to kill one
slightly more levelled enemy later than take them all on now, and the last
thing you need to worry about is missing out on experience points.

This battle is an extremely hard one, but gives you a wake up call to level
for the final ones to come. Don't forget the great levelling (as well as
weapon scouting) possibilities of random failure dungeons. Good luck.

The beginning of this battle should be didicated to the removal of those
crystal giving off the +60% protections. Following that if you're powerful
enough you can try stealing the word and summoning a Bottlemail to take it.
Either way after that it's just a matter of teaming up all your phantoms on
him, an added bonus of stealing the sword is that he will be extremely weak
once it's gone (well weak by comparison, he can still kill you in a single
hit.) But his ability to heal insane amount of Hp is gone.

You don't have a chance for a break in between so prepare for battle. The
boss of the game is invincible and protected by four crystals. Run Marona
across and throw an item to confine to as close as you can near the far right
crystal, the other three aren't too far away. Use the first turn of whatever
the first four characters you control are to destroy the crystals, it is by
far the most important thing.

Once the crystals are destroyed you can start to attack him. He will
inevitably get turns and wipe out much of your party, usually focusing large
spells on the biggest groups, so try grouping together a bunch of weak
characters to waste his turns.

In the end, your ability to knock off 10,000 hit points in a relatively fast
amount of time will determine whether you are successful or not. If you lose
yes, you do have to fight the Sprout battle again, so just don't lose. There
are many ways to win this fight, personally I struck the final blow against
this monstrous demonic lord of terror... with a fish. It's up to you.

Here are some common questions and answers - you're free to submit your own

Q - Can you give a brief explanation of how to fight battles?

          Q - What is confining? ------------------------------------($25dZ)-o
          Q - How do I attack? --------------------------------------($25eA)-o
          Q - How do I steal? ---------------------------------------($25eB)-o

          Q - What is O.B.? -----------------------------------------($25eD)-o
          Q - What is protection? -----------------------------------($25eE)-o

A - Battles in this game are fought with your Phantoms, and Marona who
acts like a 'base panel' for you to bring them out. Every map in
this game has objects which can be 'confined' to. Also note that
phantoms are not permanent, but each one has its own special 'remove
count' which tells how many turns it will get until it disappears.

The first thing you should consider when starting a battle is the
size of the map. If the map is too large you don't want to confine
all your best phantoms right away because you won't have time to get
across the map before their remove counter runs out.

The other thing you want to take into consideration is the percentage
of confine stats the objects have. Ignore the numbers when confining
to an object and look at the percent values for each stat, this shows
how each phantom's stats will be affected if you confine them there.
Pillars for example will give a 70% increase in strength, while weeds
will lower it. Be sure to look at these values before confining.

When fighting the battle, you can move as many times as you like,
whever you like, and attack when you like. Your move radius is
restricted however. Each of your attacks have a specific radius
shown by a grid that will appear when you choose attack, the size and
shape of which is determined by which attack you choose. Sometimes
it is possible simply to select an enemy, then choose an attack and
have your character approach and do the attack automatically. For
other attacks they must be targeted manually, but while targeting you
can hold square to position your character anywhere you wish inside
their move radius. This is a helpful hint.

One more battle aspect is the idea of lifting and acquisition of
items. Each character has a specific percentage of keeping the item
they confine to, whcih is listed just under their stats when you
confine them. After their remove runs out they may acquire the item
they were confined to, this is how to steal rare items when you find
them. If you find a rare item equipped on an enemy, you must steal
it, then throw it down and confine your character to it. To steal
select lift from the menu, then the character you wish to steal from.

The idea of lifting is similar to Disgaea, each character can lift
any other character or enemy, but unlike Disgaea, the character is no
different than holding a weapon and thus can give the character
holding them special attacks. If you lift an enemy, each time the
enemies' turn comes around it will damage whoever it holding it. You
can pick up one thing at a time. You can also throw whatever you are
holding and pick up something else. You can throw one thing per
turn, and it counts as an attack. If you have already attacked, you
         cannot throw.

Also comes the idea of O.B. (or out of bounds.) Characters in this
game can be thrown off the side of the map and will disappear. If
you throw an enemy O.B. every other enemy will level up which
prevents you from simply throwing all enemies off on every map. You
also do not get any experience from an enemy thrown O.B. Two other
inhibitors that exist are 1 - You cannot throw the final enemy off of
a map, and 2 - if an enemy has "No O.B." protection, they cannot be
thrown out of bounds. Also while it is possible to have you
characters knocked out of bounds by the enemy, if you accidently
slide off a cliff during your turn you will be automatically stuck
back right on the edge. After a certain amount of repeat falling off
in the same turn however, you will be considered O.B. (same applies
         to enemies.)

Finally comes the idea of protection. Many items/enemies in this
game are either giving or receiving protection to/from something
else. Protection is a special type of bonus or inhibitor that can do
a number of different things from increase stats to hold you in place
on the ground to making you completely invincible. To check what
kind of protection a character has hover your cursor over them in
battle and press square, this will display their protection. Entries
under the green bar are what is protecting the character/object you
are on, entries under the red bar are protection the character/object
is giving to something else. To find out what is receiving this
protection simply follow the arrows leading away from the
         character/object. If you destroy a character/object giving
protection, then the source of that protection disappears and whoever
was receiving it, is no longer affected by it at the instant the
character/object is destoryed or thrown O.B.

         So much for brief.

Q - How do I create a character? ------------------------------------($25eF)-o

A - Speak with Marona at Phantom Isle, and choose create. From there you
can select from any job you've unlocked, as well as being able to
push up/down to increase the amount of base stats when you create the
         character.

Q - How do I remove a character? ------------------------------------($25eG)-o

A - Lift the character up and speak to Marona, she will ask you if you
wish to banish the character, choose yes.

Q - How do I heal my characters? ------------------------------------($25eH)-o

A - You must have a healer at Phantom Isle, create one if you don't
already. When you speak to her you can heal your team individually,
or press triangle to heal them all.

Q - How do I purchase weapons? --------------------------------------($25eI)-o

A - Similar to the healer, you have to create a merchant character who
you can then buy from afterward.

Q - Can I rename my characters? -------------------------------------($25eJ)-o

A - Yes, talk to Marona and select 'name.'

Q - How many chapters are there in the game? ------------------------($25eK)-o

     A - 20

Q - How much space does a save file take up? ------------------------($25eL)-o

     A - 303Kb

Q - What is the maximum level you can achieve in this game? ---------($25eM)-o

     A - 9999

Q - What does the old man do? ---------------------------------------($25eN)-o

A - Randomly gives you exp based on his level.

Q - What does a Titlist do? -----------------------------------------($25eO)-o

A - A Titlist assigns titles to characters/items/dungeons which will
altar their stats and change thier title. The title is what preceeds
the jobs of characters like "Plain" Soldier. In the case of dungeons
titles not only have the power to change enemy stats, but they also
can extend the number of floors a dungeon will have.

Q - What does a DungeonMonk do? -------------------------------------($25eP)-o

A - A DungeonMonk is capable of creating random dungeons similar to the
item world in Disgaea, or the Dark World in La Pucelle. Each floor
is generated randomly, and the level/type/number of enemies etc is
all determined when you create the dungeon. Tell the DungeonMonk you
wish to create a dungeon and you can keep choosing create until you
get one of your liking. To escape fro ma dungeon once you enter it,
summon your DungeonMonk and use his return ability. This will cost a
certain amount of Bor so be sure you enough enough when going into a
dungeon lest you get stuck. You are not completely screwed if he
dies though, any character holding his corpse can use the Return
         ability.

Q - What does a Fusionist do? ---------------------------------------($25eQ)-o

A - A Fusionist has the power to take two characters/items and make them
one combining their stats (not adding them together of course.) It
has been mentioned that two items with the same percentage for
confining when fused will yield an item with 5% higher stat than the
two that were fused (I.E. two 30% def items would give one of 35%
def.) This technique can be used to create some powerful confining
         items.

Q - What are Dark Points? How do I get rid of them? ----------------($25eR)-o

A - Dark poins are accumulated easily by killing your own party members,
however they may cause some tension back at Phantom Isle. If you
have ever been attacked by your own party at Phantom Isle it's
probably because you've accumulated too many dark points. If you
wish to remove them simply createa Granny character and level her
up. After each return to Phantom Isle she has a chance of randomly
         removing Dark Points.

Here's one more thign to note about Dark Points. If you manage to
get 100 of them, you will get a title called Blsphm which gives you
the attack "Dark Eboreus" which will be familiar to anyone who has
fought the second to last battle of the game. The title itself
however has some bad properties so the trick is to level Dark Eboreus
to level 1, then change your title. You will still keep the skill,
but note two things: Getting to 100 Dark Points after that again
will not make the title reappear and also, Ash can not receive the
         title.

Q - How do I get a Bottlemail? --------------------------------------($25eS)-o

A - Pile characters on top of your house at Phantom Isle (press square to
lift), once you have a certain amount of character stacked you can
jump all the way up to the top of the stack, and for achieving that
height, a Bottlemail will join your team.

Q - What is the 3-2 level trick? ------------------------------------($25eT)-o

A - The 3-2 level trick refers to Monetopia - Peaceful Hill where there
is an enemy giving "Level Up" protection to two scrabbits. If you
hide far enough away these scrabbits will continue to keep gaining
levels forever but thier Hp will never increase. Simply use an
attack like "Big Bang" which ignores defense when they reach an
incredibly high level and you have a free ticket to great levelling
         possibilities.

Q - What is a random failure dungeon? And how do I get one? --------($25eU)-o

A - A random failure dungeon is a very popular means of levelling. What
it is a normal dungeon which has had the 'failure' title assigned to
it, reducing the stats of each enemy by about 80% which means you are
able to fight extremely high level enemies, at lower levels.

To start you need to create a character with the 'failure' title.
It's random so keep going to the character creator until you find
one. When you do create it and lift it up. SPeak to Marona and have
her banish it and you will receive the title it had (failure in this
case.) Now speak to your DungeonMonk and have him create a dungeon
with enemies about three times your level or more, depending on what
level you actually are. Now speak to your titlist, press R2 to
switch from item/characters/dungeons and choose the dungeon you just
made, then the failure title. Bingo! Now you can fight through the
dungeon and gain mass amounts of exp for little work. (Note the
massive amounts of exp come after you win the battle, not after you
kill the enemies.) This can also be used to confine and steal some
high level items with your Bottlemail.

Q - (Spoiler) How do I fight Laharl? --------------------------------($25eV)-o

A - After completing the game, go to Verdant Guardiana. You will have
the option of choosing to open a bottle or not, choose yes.

Q - Are you ever going to finish this guide? ------------------------($25eW)-o

A - Finish is a relative term, since the walkthrough is done. I neither
have the time or resources to list all the stats for this game (I
don't have the strategy guide to use as a reference) and Crimson
Phantom has already done an incredible job. Sometime I hope to maybe
put up an extra section for the optional battles in this game and
strategies, but for now I'm really happy with the walkthrough, as
well as this FAQ. Suggestions and contributions are welcome via
email, I always check, but things like "Do a list of every enemy and
their stats" is a little more than I can do right now :)

Nippon Ichi for an incredible game, and NIS America for the localization

Crimson Phantom, for an incredible guide for all things Phantom Brave, not to
mention La Pucelle which helped me just as much.

Wiggy for that awesome info topic, which helped right from start to finish.

Thanks to CJayC for continuing to keep GameFAQs running smoothly, and the same
