Version History =================== 1.) Introduction =================== Howdy and welcome to my guide for Odin Sphere for the Playstation 2. Odin Sphere was probably one of the more underlooked, more anticipated games in the past few months. Since this is an Atlus game, chances are it'll become rare soon enough. If not, then more people can enjoy it. Odin Sphere is mostly known for its gorgeous 2D artstyle along with excellent strategic fights. This guide will walk you through every area of each chapter. =================== 2.) Legal Stuff =================== The latest version of this guide will always be posted at GameFAQs first. Basics =================== Here are some of the basics for Odin Sphere. --------- Attacking --------- Like with any Action RPG, you need to attack your enemies if you wish to survive. In Odin Sphere, however, whenever you enter a new area on a map, you're forced to take out all the enemies on the screen before going on. This game isn't a button masher either as there can be many enemies on the screen at once and simply running into a mob of enemies and button mashing will get you dead in a matter of minutes. The best way to take on battles is to keep your distance and then start attacking on the enemies get near. In simple terms, battles usually consist of strategy rather than brute force. --------- Phozons --------- Usually after defeating an enemy or making potions with alchemy, some purple crystal type things will fly through the air. These are called Phozons. You can suck up Phozons with your weapon to increase your Psypher level. To suck in Phozons, simply hold R1 and the Phozons will come to you. --------- Psyphers --------- These are special skills that your characters have. Once you get a high enough Psypher level, you may learn a new Psypher skill to use. Also, once you suck in enough Phozons, your Psypher number will increase. The higher the number, the more Psypher skills you can use. To view which Psypher skills you have, simply push the Triangle button. You can also use your Psypher skills from that menu. --------- Food --------- Food is one of the more basic things in Odin Sphere. Eating food will recover a certain amount of HP. However, if you look at the description of the food you're eating, you'll notice there's an experience stat as well. Eating food will give your experience towards your HP. Once you get enough Exp, your HP level will increase, increasing your maximum amount of HP. If you ever need to drop your items but need to refill your health, don't hesitate eating some food if your bag is full of different kinds of food. Some food will leaves seeds behind as well, so you can replant them. --------- Planting --------- Another basic thing in Odin Sphere. Usually when you find seeds, you're able to plan them on the ground. Plants need Phozons to grow, so the best place to plant them is on a battlefield, or next to a certain seed that sprouts Phozons when it fully blooms. Once the plant fully blooms, simply hit the item that you grew off of the tree and pick it up to add it to your inventory. Simple as that. ----------- Mandragoras ----------- These little critters appear early in the game, but they're not visible at all. Whenever you run through a battlefield, you may hear a squeaking noise. This indicates that a Mandragora is underneath your feet. In order to get them out, simply jump up and land on the spot they squeaked from and then hit them with your weapon to turn them into an item. There are different kinds of Mandragoras and they're used for Alchemy. I'm not completely sure if the Mandragoras are randomly placed, so make sure to listen up as you're running around. --------- Alchemy --------- You'll be able to create items by mixing Materials with Mandragoras. This is called Alchemy. Usually when you mix a certain Mandragora with a Materal, you can create potions such as an Antidote, a Warmer, a Naplam, and other things like that. You can pick up different recipes along the way from chests you earn by completeing maps. Also, when you create a potion, Phozons will come out. The number of Phozons depends on the base number of the Material you used. =================== 4.) Walkthrough =================== A few things to note. First, I won't put any spoilers in here, so don't worry about being spoiled. Second, my directions are based after a map is cleared. If I say take the southwest exit, that means go to the yellow dot on the southwest corner of the circle and take that one. ************** Gwendolyn ************** ================= Valkyrie: Prelude ================= (VAP) ========= Act 1 ========= The first thing you'll notice once you start a new game is that the graphics are just absolutely breath taking. There's not much to be done here, though. Just watch the introductory scene and you'll move onto the next act. ========= Act 2 ========= Okay, now you'll be able to get used to the controls and such here. This is basically a small tutorial of all the basics in the game ranging from picking up items to actually doing battle. You'll do well in the game if you remember all of this, especially the diving attack Gwendolyn can do. Once you get used to all of the controls, defeat the Soldiers that come on screen until you get a screen telling you the map is completed. Once it is, look for a yellow dot on the map and use that to exit by pushing Up + X. ========= Act 3 ========= I'm sure you've figured it out by now that these Acts are pretty short. Anyways, this time around you'll be treated to another scene. Just look at how huge King Odin is! Someone must've slipped a steroid in his drink or something along those lines. After the scene, you'll be onto the next Chapter. =================== Valkyrie: Chapter 1 =================== (VA1) ========= Act 1 ========= You'll be able to control Gwendolyn again. Head to the right and talk with the people along the way if you want. You'll eventually find a merchant who sells some goods for you, and since you start out with 30G, now might be a good time to get a few things: O---------------------------O | Name | Cost | O---------------------------O | Mulberry Seed | 5G | | Hot Cross Bun | 5G | | Speed Belt | 5G | | Draw Ring | 5G | | Saturn Bangle | 10G | | Star Pendant | 10G | O---------------------------O I'd go ahead and buy a couple of Hot Cross Buns as you're able to consume them twice before they completely disappear. After you're done shopping, use the Exit sign and you'll be out on the map. Choose the Raging Battlegrounds. ========= Act 2 ========= Just another scene for you to watch. After it, it's time for your taste at the game. ========= Act 3 ========= 1 / 2 / 3 / 6 4 \ / 8 5 \ / 7 11 \ / 9 - 10 | BOSS Just to let you know, I'll map out how I completed each section. Keep in mind that you don't have to follow my pattern, and you're free to use your own, but this walkthrough will be based on how I went through each map. Do keep in mind that most of the areas are connected to each other and once you obtain the map, push L1 to view it to make life easier for yourself. Area 1 Stars: 1 -------- Nothing too hard here. Just go either left or right and look at the top right corner of the screen until you see some other characters up there. You'll have to deal with some Soldiers. Deal with them the same way you dealt with the one during the tutorial. After all of them are gone, take the exit. Area 2 Stars: 1 -------- Same thing as the last area, only this time you'll have to deal with some Fairies that'll throw stuff at you from the air. You can take them out by either standing underneath them and attacking up, or gliding through the air and then diving them. Either way works fine as it'll bring them to the ground. Just make sure to guard any flying projectiles your way. Area 3 Stars: 4 -------- This will pretty much be your first challenge here. You'll notice that you'll receive a message telling you to use the Cyclone to take out the Soldiers that will invade your screen soon. Once they do, press Triangle and select Cyclone and it'll fly towards the Soldiers, either killing them or bringing them down to low life. After that, take care of the remaining Soldiers and that's that. Area 4 Stars: N/A ---------- This is pretty much a shop here. Just run around until you find a merchant. Here's what you can buy this time: O---------------------------O | Name | Cost | O---------------------------O | Mulberry Seed | 5G | | Hot Cross Bun | 5G | | Power Stone | 15G | | Luck Stone | 15G | | Spirit Stone | 15G | O---------------------------O You shouldn't need to buy any food right now, but if you had to use some Hot Cross Buns, by another one. Once you're down here, take the southwest exit. Area 5 Stars: 2 -------- You're gonna have to deal with some more Faries in this area. However, instead of spear throwing Faries, you'll be greeted with Fire casting Fairies now. If you're hit with one of their fire blasts, just keep running and jumping until you're no longer engulfed. Just either dive bomb them or get underneath them to take them out. Shouldn't be too hard. Take the northwest exit once they're all gone. Area 6 Stars: 3 -------- Not that hard here. It's pretty much the same batch of enemies you've taken care of so far, so waste them and once they're gone. Take the exit back to Area 5 and once in Area 5, take the southwest exit. Area 7 Stars: N/A ---------- It was only a matter of time. Instead of fighting a bunch of normal enemies, you'll be fighting your first boss: a Unicorn Knight. These things may seem intimidating at first, but once you learn their pattern, they're real easy to defeat. However, they tend to call for reinforcements from time to time, so you may need to quit beating the horse in order to take care of the other enemies. You can use a Napalm if you want, but I saved mine. The Unicorn Knight will do one of the following: -Bring his head down to charge -Jump into the air and land near you -Quickly attack you You'll be able to get an opening if he sits there for more than a couple of seconds. Take that time to land a combo. If he starts charging at you, make sure to jump over him since he can break your guard. Just guard for the other two. Just keep attacking when you get the opening and then stay back and wait for him to finish his attacks. Once he falls, make sure to absorb all the Phozons and take the northwest exit. Area 8 Stars: 5 -------- This is your first 5 Star area, and it's quite a doozy if you haven't figured out the basics of battle yet. You're going to be dealing with a large amount of Soldiers and some fire casting Fairies. Once the enemies come onto your little radar at the top right corner of the screen, unleash a Cyclone to take off most of their health and finish off any remaining ones. After the first batch of Fairies and Soldiers are gone, more will appear, so if you can, let loose with another Cyclone. If not, keep your distance as the Soldiers are charging and then start comboing once they get near you. After the map is cleared, go back to Area 7 (where you fought the Unicorn Knight and take the southeast exit this time. Area 9 Stars: N/A ---------- Here's another shop for you to well... shop at. O---------------------------O | Name | Cost | O---------------------------O | Mulberry Seed | 5G | | Hot Cross Bun | 5G | | Speed Belt | 5G | | Draw Ring | 5G | | Saturn Bangle | 10G | | Star Pendant | 10G | | Shield Ring | 10G | O---------------------------O Once you're done here, take the east exit. Area 10 Stars: 2 -------- Nothing too hard here. You'll just have to deal with some more Soldiers and some more Fairies, so use the same tactics as before. Once they're gone, take the northeast exit. Area 11 Stars: N/A ---------- You'll fight another Unicorn Knight here, so use the same tactics as before. Remember to suck any Phozons from any passing butterflies and jump over the Unicorn Knight if he tries to charge at you. Once the map is cleared, make sure to save your game and refill your health. Go back to Area 10 and take the south exit this time. ========= Act 4 ========= Just watch a small scene here. ========= Act 5 ========= ----------------------------------BOSS----------------------------------------- -Holy crap, will you just look at the beauty of that dragon? Belial here will be your first real boss here, and if you haven't gotten to the basic controls or feel of a battle yet, you may be in a bit of trouble. While Belial won't move very far himself, he'll often make debris fall from the air. You can either try to dodge the debris, block them with your shield, or hit them out of the air. After the debris falls, Belial will start sucking in the debris and anything else in its path. During the battle, fairies will aid Belial, but a simple dive attack will take them out. For Belial himself, the key is to get behind him. If debris starts to fall, try to glide over him and once he starts sucking in the debris start attacking him until he turns around. Once he does, retreat and take out any fairies that are around. Just keep trying to get behind him as the debris falls and attack him that way. It'll take awhile, but you'll win eventually. ----------------------------------BOSS----------------------------------------- ========= Act 6 ========= Just another scene. That's the end of Chapter 1. =================== Valkyrie: Chapter 2 =================== (VA2) ========= Act 1 ========= Head to the right and shop if you want. O---------------------------O | Name | Cost | O---------------------------O | Mulberry Seed | 5G | | Hot Cross Bun | 5G | | Cheese | 7G | | Antidote | 10G | | Shield Ring | 10G | | Power Stone | 15G | | Luck Stone | 15G | | Spirit Stone | 15G | | Detox Charm | 100G | O---------------------------O Once you're ready, exit and choose the Deep Forest of Elrit. ========= Act 2 ========= Just another scene for you to watch. ========= Act 3 ========= BOSS 11 \ / 1-2-3 10 \ / 4 / 6-5 \ 7 / \ 8 9 You'll get an alchemy tutorial here, so follow it. Area 1 Stars: 1 -------- Take care of the Frogs and Goblins in this area. Watch out for the Goblins and give yourself some distance once you knock them down. Once they're knocked down, their knives will fly into the air and if one lands on you, you'll become poisoned. Once they're gone, take the exit. Area 2 Stars: 1 -------- You'll get another alchemy tutorial here. Once it's done, some Bears will come attack you. These things are simple to take out. Just combo them until they go down. Take the east exit. Area 3 Stars: N/A ---------- Here's your first mini boss on this map. You'll fight a Manticore this time and it's a bit easier than the Unicorn Knight, but a lot more annoying. The Manticore will usually toss numerous poison substances through the air and if one touches you, you'll become poisoned. The best way to take out the Manticore is to get near it, dive attack it, run the other way, dive attack it again, run the other way again, and repeat. Watch out for the poison and the Bear reinforcements and keep dive attacking it and you'll win eventually. Area 4 Stars: N/A ---------- Here's your first shop on this map. O---------------------------O | Name | Cost | O---------------------------O | Mulberry Seed | 5G | | Muggle Seed | 10G | | Hot Cross Bun | 5G | | Cheese | 7G | | Material | 5G | | Antidote | 10G | | Saturn Bangle | 10G | | Star Pendant | 10G | | Gourmet Ring | 10G | | Detox Charm | 100G | O---------------------------O Once you're done shopping here, take the south exit. Area 5 Stars: N/A ---------- You'll fight another Manticore here, so use the same strategy of dive attacking it and running away and then diving at it again until it falls. Remember to suck up the Phozons. Take the northwest exit. Area 6 Stars: 3 -------- Nothing too bad here. You'll fight some more frogs and you'll have to deal with some beehives. Just take out the frogs with normal attacks and dive attack the beehives until they're destroyed. Go back to Area 5 (the previous one) and take the southeast exit. Area 7 Stars: 2 -------- Some more Goblins and Bears here. Remember to avoid the Goblins knives once you knock them down. Take the southwest exit this time. Area 8 Stars: N/A ---------- Here's another shop. O---------------------------O | Name | Cost | O---------------------------O | Muggle Seed | 10G | | Hot Cross Bun | 5G | | Cheese | 7G | | Material | 5G | | Speed Belt | 5G | | Draw Ring | 5G | | Power Stone | 15G | | Luck Stone | 15G | | Spirit Stone | 15G | | Ancient Crystal | 30G | O---------------------------O Once you're done shopping, go back to Area 7 and take the southeast exit. Area 9 Stars: 4 -------- You'll have to deal with a bunch of Goblins and Frogs here, so use the same tactics on them that you used with the other bunches you've fought already. After they're gone, go back to Area 4 (the first shop on the map) and take the northeast exit. Area 10 Stars: 3 -------- You'll get a third alchemy tutorial here. After it's done, take care of the enemies and take the northeast exit. Area 11 Stars: 5 -------- Another 5 star area. Save the beehives for last and take care of the frogs and bears first. After taking care of those barrages, start dive bombing the beehives over and over again until they go down. Once the map is clear, go back to Area 10 and take the northwest exit. ========= Act 4 ========= Watch the small scene here. I'm sure you know what's coming next. ========= Act 5 ========= ----------------------------------BOSS----------------------------------------- -You'll be fighting Velvet this time and boy is she tough if you have no clue what you're doing. Velvet will start off on the ground and she'll usually throw a bunch of alchemy potions at you, trying to either damage your directly or block your path when you're trying to run. Your best bet would be gliding over all the potions on the ground and dive attack Velvet herself. She'll start attacking with her chain if she gets too close. Once you hit her enough times, she'll jump into a tree and start using more alchemy moves. She'll stand in the tree and release chains that go into the ground and bring up cyclones, explosions, or sometimes ice blades. You want to try to get behind Velvet this time. Once you're able to see her on your radar, jump into the air and glide until she comes into view. Once she does, dive attack her and keep running to get back behind her. Repeat this until she falls out of the tree. Repeat the same process of gliding over her potions and then dive attacking her while keeping your distance to avoid her chains and keep getting behind her and dive attack her when she's in a tree. From Nespin Fernagon: According to Nespin, you're actually able to hit Velvet's potions out of the air and use them against her. If you're feeling lucky, you can try this tactic to make life easier. ----------------------------------BOSS----------------------------------------- ========= Act 6 ========= Just another small scene. =================== Valkyrie: Chapter 3 =================== (VA3) ========= Act 1 ========= Just head to the right and check out the shop if you want. Take the exit and choose the Winterhorn Ridge. Do note that you can go back to previous areas if you want to. ========= Act 2 ========= Just another small scene here. Afterwards, it's time for the meat of the chapter once again. ========= Act 3 ========= BOSS / 11 / 10 | 9 8 \ / 4-3 | \ 5 2 \ \ 6 1 | 7 Area 1 Stars: 1 -------- The first thing you'll notice is that you'll take damage on these areas because of the frigid cold temps. A Warmer will protect you from this. As for the area itself, this isn't a tough area. Snowflakes will come at you and they can usually be dealt with in just one hit. If they touch you, you'll become frozen. If you're frozen, move the left analog stick left and right to break free faster. Area 2 Stars: 1 -------- Nothing too hard here. You'll have to deal with some Baby Yetis here. They'll sometimes jump up and down at you, so try to avoid them when they do that. Once the map is completed, take the northwest exit. Area 3 Stars: N/A ---------- Here's your first shop of the area. O---------------------------O | Name | Cost | O---------------------------O | Grape Seed | 10G | | Cheese | 7G | | Milk | 10G | | Material | 10G | | Pouchette | 10G | | Small Bag | 30G | | Cythera Bangle | 25G | | Moon Pendant | 30G | | Iceproof Charm | 100G | | Ancient Crystal | 30G | O---------------------------O Shop as needed (an extra Small Bag wouldn't hurt, though) and when you're ready, take the west exit. Area 4 Stars: 4 -------- I found this one to be quite fun. You'll be dealing with three different enemies here: Yetis, Snowflakes, and Snow Falcons. I'd take care of the Snow Falcons first as they seem to be the most dangerous. Just dive bomb them over and over again and then take care of the Snowflakes, and then finally the Yetis. Another batch of enemies will come on screen after they're gone, so deal with them. After they're gone, take the south exit. Area 5 Stars: N/A ---------- Here's the second shop of the area. O---------------------------O | Name | Cost | O---------------------------O | Muggle Seed | 10G | | Grape Seed | 10G | | Cheese | 7G | | Milk | 10G | | Material | 10G | | Warmer | 10G | | Pouchette | 10G | | Small Bag | 30G | | Talisman | 50G | | Amulet | 30G | O---------------------------O Once you're done shopping, take the southeast exit. Area 6 Stars: 2 -------- You'll have to deal with some more Snow Falcons and Yetis. Dive bomb the Snow Falcons. The bigger Yetis have a nasty habit of freezing you if you get too close and rolling snowmen heads (Frosty!) at you. They'll sometimes go underground and emergy near you, so be careful when taking them on. Once the map is completed, take the south exit. Area 7 Stars: N/A ---------- Here's your first mini boss of the area. You'll be fighting a Berserker. This guy isn't exactly that hard as his patterns are easily predictable. Once the battle starts, if you hear him yell and crouch, he's going to jump in the air and try to land on you. Another attack is when he'll slowly walk forward to you and then hit you with his weapon. Last, he'll charge across the screen. If he charges, jump over him as guarding will do no good. The snowflakes make this battle more annoying if you let them linger around. Just keep dive bombing the Berserker as he sits there, plotting his next move and you'll win without too much trouble. After the fight, go back to Area 4 and take the northeast exit. Area 8 Stars: 3 -------- You'll be dealing with more Baby Yetis, Yetis, and Snowflakes, so use the same tactics as before to take them all down. Once the map is completed, go back to Area 4 and take the northwest exit this time. Area 9 Stars: N/A ---------- You'll be fighting a Berserker again, so use the same tactics as before and watch his movements before attacking him. Once the battle is over, take the north exit. Area 10 Stars: 2 -------- A simple batch of Snow Falcons and Baby Yetis are all you need to take care of this time around. Waste them and take the northeast exit. Area 11 Stars: N/A ---------- You'll be fighting another mini boss, but this time it's not a Berserker. You'll be fighting a Revenant. Instead of dive bombing it, you'll want to stick to the ground in this battle. If you try to dive bomb Revenant, it'll reach up and knock you out of the air pretty easily. Once it appears, get next to it so you can start whacking it a couple of times and then back off. Some reinforcements will appear so take care of them. After some time has passed, Revenant will disappear and reappear in a new place, so hunt him down and start hitting him again with your spear. Sometimes he'll surround you with a red aura, but I have no clue what it does. Just get away from him if that happens. Just rinse and repeat. After the fight, take the northeast exit. ========= Act 4 ========= Watch the scene. ========= Act 5 ========= ----------------------------------BOSS----------------------------------------- -You'll be fighting Brigan this time. I don't know about you, but I'm glad that I have the chance to take this jackass down. The key to this fight is endurance and patience, not brute strength. You'll want to keep dive bombing yourself at Brigan while getting on the other side of him once you land. What makes this battle even more annoying is the fact that Snowflakes will come and aid Brigan. Whenever they appear, take the time out to take care of them as you'll want to avoid being frozen. For Brigan himself, here's his attack list: -He'll simply try to hit you with his hammer. -He'll drink some of his drink and breath fire at you shortly or start walking forward while breathing fire. -He'll jump back once and then charge across the screen. Jump over this. -He'll take a swig of his drink and then start jumping across the screen. If he does this, simply glide away from him and you should be able to outrun him. If he's near you when he does this, glide anyways as he won't be able to damage you at all. -He'll throw some kind of boomerang at you and it'll return to him. -He'll throw multiple blades at you. -He'll grab you and force his drink down your throat, damaging you badly. After Brigan jumps around for a bit, another Valkyrie will come to aid him for a short time. Make sure to take breaks inbetween to suck up any lingering Phozons or Butterflies flying around. If you have any spare Psypher points to use, use Phozon Burst if you've learned it already (which I'm hoping you did) and then back off as he'll probably start attacking. If you don't want to use Phozon Burst, just keep gliding towards him and then at a certain angle (usually when you're close to being above him), dive bomb him and try to land behind him. Run away once you land and wait to see what attack he does. After you do enough damage, the Snowflakes will no longer help, but he'll summon for Valkyries. The Valkyries usually won't chase after you, so don't bother with them if you can help it. Just keep repeating the process of dive bombing it and waiting to see his attack so you can take the correct measure in dodging it. This fight will take awhile to complete. UPDATE: Apparently when Brigan's plates fall off, he'll summon Valkyries to replace them, so if you can, take out any stray Valkyries that come down to keep those plates off of him. You'll fight a Berserker this time, so use the same strategy you used against him during the last chapter. He'll have a lot of Valkyries aiding him, so make sure to keep an eye out all over the place. Area 2 Stars: 1 -------- Nothing too hard here. You'll just fight some Gargoyles and Dwarves. The Dwarves will chuck bombs at you and when you knock them down, a bomb will be thrown up into the air, so you can either knock it back or run away to avoid the explosion. The bombs can hurt the enemies as well, so use that to your advantage. The Gargoyles will just fly around, shooting fireballs at you. Once the map is completed, take the northeast exit. Area 3 Stars: 3 -------- You'll fight some Castle Soldiers and more Gargoyles here. The Castle Soldiers are a bit of a pain because they don't stunlock if you hit them. Once they attack you, their axes will be stuck in the ground for a short time, so take that time to attack them. Also, whenever you knock one down or when one dies, their axe will fly straight up into the air so make sure to avoid that. Once the map is clear, go back to Area 2 and take the southwest exit. Area 4 Stars: 2 -------- Nothing too difficult here. You'll just fight a hoard of Valkyries and Dwarves. The Valkyries will also try to dive attack you from time to time, so make sure to glide through the air with them and dive attack them first before any real damage can be done. If any of them guard against your attacks on the ground, use a piercing attack (hold down then attack) to knock them down momentarily. Once everything is done, take the southeast exit. Area 5 Stars: N/A ---------- Here's your first shop. You'll want to try to lure one of the Berserkers away by making him charge and then get behind him and start attacking until he turns around. Just keep doing that but DO NOT attack them if they're close to each other. After the fight, go back to area 2 and take the northwest exit. Area 7 Stars: 2 -------- Nothing too hard. You'll have to deal with a small batch of Valkyries and Gargoyles here, so just dive attack or pierce attack the Valkyries as needed and dive bomb or attack upwards for the Gargoyles. Take the north exit after the fight. Area 8 Stars: 3 -------- You'll have to deal with a few Dwarves and a Castle Soldier here, so just use the same tactics as before. Take the east exit. Area 9 Stars: 4 -------- Nothing but Valkyries this time around, but there are a lot of them so make sure to avoid them if there are too many gathering together and either dive attack them or use a pierce attack to bring down their guard. Afterwards, go back to area 3 (or just take the east exit) and then take the north exit. Area 10 Stars: N/A ---------- The second shop. Once you're ready to go, go back to Area 8 and take the north exit. Area 11 Stars: 3 -------- You'll be introduced to some Netherworld Monsters here. You'll have to deal with Skeletons, Ghosts, and Tentacles that pop out of the ground (Please don't send me any Hentai jokes about the Tentacles). The Skeletons are easy to deal with as they're pretty sluggish and easy to get behind. The ghosts are more tricky. If they're in a light blue state, your attacks won't phase them. Wait until they change into a more ugly state that looks like a skeleton before attacking them. Make sure to avoid dive attacking them until they finish their attack in the air. The tentacles will appear out of the ground as you get near them. One hit should take care of them. Once they're gone, take the northeast exit. ========= Act 4 ========= Watch the scene. ========= Act 5 ========= ----------------------------------BOSS----------------------------------------- -You'll be fighting Demon Lord Odin this time, but it's actually Brigan that you're fighting technically. There are a few things you'll want to take your time to notice first. First off, unlike Brigan, there are no protective plates on Odin, so you don't need to worry about knocking anything off to get more damage in. A Valkyrie will often come in to aid him, but she can be dealt with easily. Now for his attacks: -He'll use a sway of punches as he steps forward. Avoid this at all costs. -He'll pull out a morning star with a blue spike at the end. He'll often make the spike start bouncing across the room. Avoid this by running away. -He'll do a small charge across the screen. Jump over this. -He'll shoot some red beams in two different directions. They can be destroyed by hitting them with your spear, but running away is more effective and safe. -He'll jump up and try to land on you. Back off if you see him jump. Most of his attacks take a few seconds to charge up, giving you time to prepare yourself for it, meaning take that chance to get behind him and start attacking him until he turns around. Dive attacking doesn't seem as effective here since it's hard to angle yourself to hit Odin a lot of times and still land behind him safely. Your best bet for this fight is to wait before he attacks and either run away or try to jump and get behind him. Dive attacking to get behind him is easy, but he'll often turn around too fast for you to do anything effective. Like with the Brigan fight, this one is about patience, so don't rush into any fighting until you're able to get behind him. ----------------------------------BOSS----------------------------------------- ========= Act 6 ========= Watch the scene. Time for Chapter 5. =================== Valkyrie: Chapter 5 =================== (VA5) Talk with the Pooka Merchant. You can then enter the Cafe or Restaurant (damn loading times) to make some food that gives excellent Exp boosts, as well as increases your Max HP by eating the food itself. You'll get a tutorial on it and some items will drop down for you to make an item. Enter the restaurant on the left and choose to make the dish that you just learned. Once you're done here, exit back out and if you haven't bought from the Pooka Merchant yet, I'd suggest buying one Cooler and a Large Bag if you have the spare change. You'll be able to make Coolers once you learn the recipe in the next area, but this Cooler is to aid you until you get the recipe and correct Mandragora. Exit to your left and choose to enter the Volkenon Lava Pit. ========= Act 2 ========= Watch the scene. ========= Act 3 ========= 1 3 \ / \ BOSS 2 / 10 | 4 \ 11 \ \ / 5 9 \ / 6 / 7 / 8 Just like with Winterhorn Ridge, the ground here will damage you, so take a swig of the Cooler you bought (if you did) to prevent any more damage. Area 1 Stars: 1 -------- You'll just have to deal with some Fireballs. They're pretty much the same as the Snowflakes from Winterhorn Ridge, except instead of freezing you, they'll set you on fire. If you do get set on fire, simply run to the right or left until it wears off. The fireballs should take one hit to take down. Once they're gone, take the exit. Area 2 Stars: 2 -------- You'll fight some Fire Lizards and Bombs this time. The Fire Lizards are pretty easy to deal with. As they're charging at you (they won't hurt if they run past you), just start attacking them. As for the bombs, these things are more annoying. They have a nasty habit of walking across the ground and then doing flips in the air. Once you knock off all of their health, back off as they're going to self destruct. Take the northeast exit. Area 3 Stars: N/A ---------- This is the first mini boss stage of the area. The Vulcans aren't really that difficult. Most of the time they'll fly through the air to attack you, so do the same and dive attack them before they get the chance to attack and then pick up attacking them from the ground if they're on ground level. You'll want to watch out for when she starts spinning around in a circle. She'll be protected by a small fire barrier when she does this and it'll set you on fire if you touch it. She'll also sometimes drop from the ground and some fire pillars will come out. How many come out is random, so if she does this, stay in the air until they pass you. Once she's gone, take the southwest exit. Area 4 Stars: 1 -------- Some more Fire Lizards and Bombs inhabit this area, so deal with them the same way as before. Take the southest exit. Area 5 Stars: N/A ---------- Here's the first shop of the area. Once it lands, it'll stick around for a few more seconds so make sure to jump over those. Once they're gone, take the southwest exit. Area 7 Stars: 3 -------- An easy fight with some Fire Lizards. Remember to attack them as they're ready to run by you. Take the southwest exit once the map is done. Area 8 Stars: N/A ---------- Here's the second shop. Area 11 Stars: 4 -------- There are nothing but Bombs here, so this is a rather annoying stage. The best way to deal with it is probably using a Phozon Burst or two to take most of them out in one shot and then wait until the survivors come near you and attack them to finish them off. Once the map is done, take the north exit. ========= Act 4 ========= Watch the scene. ========= Act 5 ========= ----------------------------------BOSS----------------------------------------- -Leventhan is an easy enemy to figure out and because of that, this fight is probably the easiest one you've had so far. Leventhan will fly around for a bit and then it'll start shooting either a thin laser out of its mouth or a large laser that takes up almost half of the screen. The best way to deal with this little monster is to try to stay close to him but not too close. If you see him getting ready to open his mouth, quickly get behind him and start attacking as he shoots out his laser. He'll also often land on the ground and do a small charge towards you. Make sure to follow him as he does this since once he stops, he'll sit there momentarily leaving him open to attack him, so use that opportunity well. If you hit him enough times, his crown will fall off which makes him waste a few more seconds getting it back on his head which leaves him vulnerable to attacks. Though his attacks are very easy to predict, one screw up with the lasers is all that you need to lose this fight as Leventhan does a lot of damage for a new born dragon. Overall though, this is the easiest fight so far in the game. ----------------------------------BOSS----------------------------------------- ========= Act 6 ========= Watch the scene and Chapter 6 will start up. =================== Valkyrie: Chapter 6 =================== (VA6) ========= Act 1 ========= Talk with the Pooka Merchant if you want. Area 2 Stars: 1 -------- You'll fight a Soldier and some Fairies that'll shoot you with arrows. Take them out by either dive attacking them or stand underneath them and attack upwards. Take the northeast exit. Area 3 Stars: N/A ---------- You'll fight a Unicorn Knight this time and it fights the same way as it did from Chapter 1, but there will be a lot of Soldiers are reinforcements. To make this battle go more smoothly, kill all of the soldiers but one. Leaving one alive won't bring out any more reinforcements and there won't be many of them to interfere your battle with the Unicorn Knight. Once the fight is done, take the northwest exit. Area 4 Stars: 2 -------- Just some more Soldiers and Fairies. Nothing too hard. Take the northwest exit. Area 5 Stars: N/A ---------- Here's the first shop. Just like with the two Berserkers, you'll want to try to seperate the two away from each other and fight them one at a time. While you do this, keep an eye out for stray arrows that might be coming your way from the Fairy. As long as you can keep them seperated, it'll decrease the difficulty of the fight drastically. If they get near each other, back off. Once the fight is over, take the southeast exit. Area 7 Stars: 2 -------- Some more Soldiers and Fairies. You've dealt with them before so take them out. Take the southeast exit. Area 8 Stars: 3 -------- More Soldiers and Fairies await you here. Take the east exit. Area 9 Stars: 5 -------- Now this one is a pain. Some of the soldiers this time around will either guard or won't stunlock, so you'll either need to do a piercing attack or use a Phozon Burst to wipe out as many enemies as you can. I suggest taking out the fairies first, though, as they're the biggest pain in this fight. Once the fight is over, go back to area 2 and take the southeast exit. Area 10 Stars: N/A ---------- Because I wasn't able to find the damn map until the last area before the boss, I found this late into the area. Once the map is complete, take the north exit. ========= Act 4 ========= Watch the scene here. ========= Act 5 ========= ----------------------------------BOSS----------------------------------------- -You'll fight Mercedes this time. The thing that makes this fight an annoyance are the reinforcements which consists of soldiers AND fairies. Needless to say that a 4v1 fight is a pretty unfair advantage, so once they come into play, take out one soldier. For Mercedes herself, she's not all that hard. She'll usually fly around, sit for a second and then fire some red beams at you which can be easily dodged. From time to time, she'll fire multiple red beams and then let loose with a huge red beam. While she's shooting, take that time to get behind her and get a couple of hits in and then back off. Mercedes has the ability to heal herself by sucking up any Phozons near her and if you attack her while she does this, she'll quickly retaliate by shooting at you. If you're getting desperate, you can always use Phozon Burst. It takes off a chunk of her health and it'll probably take out some of the reinforcements as well. However, there is a good chance she'll suck up the Phozons before you to heal herself, so use it wisely. Basically, whenever she shoots her red beams, get behind her and get a few hits in and back off before the soldiers or fairy reach you to minimize the damage. ----------------------------------BOSS----------------------------------------- ========= Act 6 ========= Watch the scene. Gwendolyn's Epilogue will start. ================== Valkyrie: Epilogue ================== (VAE) ========= Act 1 ========= Talk with the Pooka Merchant to do some shopping if you want. Some places will be pitch black. If they are, using Shines will take care of that problem so you can see where the enemies are coming from. Area 1 Stars: 1 -------- Nothing too bad here. Some Skeletons will come out. Just wait until they get close and start attacking them. Area 2 Stars: 2 -------- Just some Skeletons and Tentacles here. Take care of them and take the south exit. Area 3 Stars: 1 -------- You'll fight some more Tentacles and you'll fight some small, floating skeletons. One hit will usually take care of both but you can't attack them if there's a blue aura around them, so be aware of that. Once the fight is done, take the south exit. Area 4 Stars: N/A ---------- Here's the first shop. After the Wraith uses an attack, it'll just sit here for about 5 or so seconds before doing anything else. Take that time to get some attacks in. If you stand too close to him, he'll surround you with some Ghouls and damage you but you can jump out of that. He'll also teleport near you if you stray too far. Just attack him after he unleashes an attack and you should be fine. After the fight, take the south exit. Area 6 Stars: 4 -------- Just a mix of Skeletons and small, flying skeletons here. After you dispatch them, go back to area 5 and take the northwest exit. Area 7 Stars: 3 -------- Just some Ghosts and Tentacles. Wait until the Ghosts materalize before attacking them and watch out then they use a spinning attack with their hands. After the fight, take the north exit. Area 8 Stars: N/A ---------- Here's your second fight with another Wraith. Dispatch it the same way as before. Take the northwest exit. Area 10 Stars: 5 -------- You'll deal with some Ghosts, Tentacles and small, flying skeletons. I'd go ahead and leave the Ghosts for last. Once the fight is over, take the south exit. Area 11 Stars: 3 -------- You'll fight some small, flying skeletons and Ghosts here. You can use a Shine to pull the skeletons out of their blue auras to take care of them quickly. Once the fight is over, take the southwest exit. ========= Act 4 ========= Watch the scene. ========= Act 5 ========= ----------------------------------BOSS----------------------------------------- -You'll be fighting Odette this time around. You better brace yourself for the biggest slowdown in the game so far. Odette will summon a bunch of small skeletons and will often make tentacles come out of the ground to stop you from running. She'll summon so many skeletons that there will be massive slowdown no matter where you run off to. Odette herself doesn't exactly have a massive attack arsenal to use, but here's what she's capable to do, or at least what she did to me: -Summons skeletons and tentacles. If they become a problem, use a Shine to get rid of their blue auras. -Throws a red double edge scythe. Run away from this. -Pull out two long spider like legs and heal herself for large amounts. Because of that last attack, Odette can be pretty cheap and it's not a safe bet to stray too far from her. Because of all the skeletons floating around, you'll want to be patient in finding an opportunity to dive attack her and then attack her some more as she's summoning more skeletons to do her dirty work. If you see her getting ready to use her double edge scythe, run away to avoid it. Once she gets low on health, she'll pull out those spider legs to heal. What I did was use a four hit combo followed by a Phozon Burst to outdamage her healing. After the Phozon Burst, go back to attacking but keep an eye on your POW Meter. Do another four hit combo while she's low on health and then follow that up with another Phozon Burst to damage her some more. Remember her? You should. You just fought her with Gwendolyn. Since you're not fighting her with Gwendolyn and since you were stripped down to the bone when you started Cornelius, this fight is both a bit harder and a bit dumbed down. Odette will summon her ghosts as usual to do her fighting and since this is pretty much the first real fight for Cornelius, she doesn't do that much damage to begin with. You'll want to keep attacking her, hoping that she staggers. If you want a fun little method, you can always spin attack her over and over again. If you do that, though, there's a good chance you'll lose a chunk of your health. The only use Cyclone has in this fight is to take out the annoying ghosts and tentacles that aid her in this fight. After you bring her down to nearly a quarter of her health left, she'll pull out those spider legs and start healing again. The healing amount isn't as big this time around, but there's really no way to knock her out of it, so just keep attacking and when she's getting low, mix a Cyclone in there. ----------------------------------BOSS----------------------------------------- ========= Act 6 ========= Watch the scene. =========================== The Pooka Prince: Chapter 2 =========================== (PP2) ========= Act 1 ========= Head over to the right and talk with the merchant if you wish. Once the map is complete, go back to Area 5 and take the north exit. ========= Act 4 ========= Watch the scene. ========= Act 5 ========= ----------------------------------BOSS----------------------------------------- -It's round two with Brigan. Thankfully for you, he's not all that different from the last time you fought him with Gwendolyn. Infact, he still has the same exact moves. If you don't remember what they are, here are his moves: -He'll simply try to hit you with his hammer. -He'll drink some of his drink and breath fire at you shortly or start walking forward while breathing fire. -He'll jump back once and then charge across the screen. Jump over this. -He'll take a swig of his drink and then start jumping across the screen. If he does this, simply jump away from him and you should be able to outrun him. If he's near you when he does this, jump anyways as he won't be able to damage you at all. -He'll throw some kind of boomerang at you and it'll return to him. -He'll throw multiple blades at you. -He'll grab you and force his drink down your throat, damaging you badly. With the same moves as last time, Brigan shouldn't be that difficult. Sadly, the endurance portion of the fight also remains the same, but like with the last battle, you're able to knock off his chest plates to lower his defense. Remember to take out the Valkyries that try to put them back on. The Bears seem to be a bigger pain this time around, so it would be a smart idea to wait until they came close to you before attacking instead of rushing it. Take the northwest exit. Area 3 Stars: N/A ---------- You'll fight a Manticore here. Remember that it can shoot a poison substance out of its tail. Get in close and start attacking it. If you see his head rear back, jump away as he'll try to bite you. After this, jump back in and start attacking again. After the fight, go back to area 2 and take the southwest exit. Just like when you fought her with Gwendolyn, Velvet still uses the same attacks: throwing alchemy potions, whipping you with her chain, and hanging in the tree, throwing all sorts of crap at you. Start off by getting behind her and get a few hits in and then back off. After you hit her enough times, she'll jump into a tree. Run away as she throws all sorts of things at you. Once you get close to her again by running behind her (she'll be facing you, though), jump up and attack her four times and run away again and repeat this until she falls back out of the tree. Go back to getting behind her and attacking her until she goes back into the tree. Repeat the whole process until you defeat her. From Nespin Fernagon: According to Nespin, you're actually able to hit Velvet's potions out of the air and use them against her. If things get too clustered, whip out a Cyclone or two to take out anyone in your path and suck up the Phozons to get your Psypher power back. Go back to area 3 and take the west exit. You'll be fighting against Wagner (sound familiar?) this time and he's much different than Belial since Wagner attacks while being airborn. This fight is actually really simple once you figure out the one thing you need to do. You may not notice it right away, but you need to jump on Wagner's head as he flies around and then attack his body from there. However, getting on the head can be a bit tricky with Wagner will use three different attacks to kick your ass. -He'll dive bomb and slide across the ground. This hurts very much and if you're on his head when he's about to do this, jump off immediately. -He'll fly across the screen breathing fire out of his mouth. If you get hit with this, you'll be engulfed in a Level 3 Flame. -He'll summon fireballs to fall from the sky and there will be several whirlwinds in the area to prevent you from running. The best time to jump on his head is when he's doing nothing at all. Jumping on his head while he's sliding on the ground is suicidal, and jumping on his head while he's breathing fire is both hard and dangerous as you can either overjump him or underjump, getting caught in the flames. Wait until he sits there for a couple of seconds before jumping on and attacking. Keep an eye on your POW Meter as you attack and once it becomes low or he's about to dive attack, jump off. You'll want to take your swipes at her while she's flying around the area. While she's moving, jump up and use a 4 hit combo on her and keep doing this until she stops moving. Once she stops, she'll shoot those red beams back out again and then might follow that up with a red large beam. Run away when she does this and continue attacking her as she flies through the air. Remember that she has the ability to suck in any lingering Phozons to heal herself, so make sure to suck them in first if there are any. Take advantage if there's a Butterfly around the area. If you want a quick and easy kill, hit her four times and then use a Phozon Burst and keep attacking her. You'll see why you'll want those Napalms. If you want a good place to find Onionnes, try the Elrit Forest. Area 1 Stars: 1 -------- Some Goblins inhabit this area, but a Wizard is also here. Wizards are the most annoying enemy in this entire map since they have the ability to teleport, shoot multiple fireballs at you, and throw swords at you. If you try to attack them, they'll usually teleport away. The best way to deal with the Wizards is to wait until they throw a sword at you. If they do, hit it back and if it connects with the Wizard, the Wizard will become stunned momentarily, so use that opportunity to run in and finish it off quickly. Area 2 Stars: 1 -------- The Wizards might summon some floating eyes this time around. If they do, take them out as they're dangerous if they're left flying around. You'll also run into some Slimes which are really annoying. If you try attacking them, you'll only do one damage. This is why I suggested that you get plenty of Napalms for this map. This thing is probably the toughest mini boss you've faced so far since there's hardly a chance to get an opening to attack him. It seems the best chance to attack him is when he jumps and lands. Once he lands, get in a few hits and back off and if you can, try to get behind him and attack him so more. If you hit him enough times, he'll fall on his back leaving him open momentarily. Take the east exit. Area 8 Stars: 3 -------- Some Wizards inhabit this area, so carefully dispose of them. Take the north exit. Area 9 Stars: N/A ---------- You'll fight another Axe Knight here. Use the same tactics you used the last time. Take the north exit. Area 10 Stars: 4 -------- Wizards and Goblins will attack you here. This area is also a bit rough and if you have the spare Psypher points, Phozon Burst will help out a bunch here. Take the west exit. That'll lead you to area 2. Take the north exit from there. Area 11 Stars: 3 -------- Goblins will take you on this time around. Remember to avoid the daggers they drop upon dying. Go back to area 8 and take the west exit. ========= Area 4 ========= Watch the scene. ========= Act 5 ========= ----------------------------------BOSS----------------------------------------- -You'll fight Belial this time around. Unlike the Gwendolyn, this fight against Belial is much more difficult this time around mainly because there will be a Wizard that will most likely summon Floating Eyes to help attack you. Because of this, there will be a lot of projectiles coming your way so you can't sit in one place for too long. As for Belial, he still has the same attacks as last time which include dropping crap from the sky, sucking in that stuff, and eating you if you get too close. You may need to resort to using a Painkiller for this fight as you'll want every bit of protection you can get. If you have some Napalms left over, using a couple of those will help you out quite a bit in this fight. Don't hesitate to use any healing items when the time comes. Make sure to only attack Belial when he's doing nothing. If he's getting ready to charge or if crap is falling down, don't attack him. Charge shots are pretty useful, but you should have Piercing Shot by now. Use that to get some pretty good damage in. This fight is pretty challenging because Oswald is both agile and strong and he can hit you multiple times, so you'll want to keep your distance from him and shoot only a couple of shots at a time. Soon, Oswald will turn into his Shadow Form which makes him even faster and stronger. You'll want to try to outrun/fly him, but you can't, so you'll need to keep an eye on his attack patterns. If you're flying through the air, he'll usually double jump to attack you. If he does this, quickly land on the ground and run the other away. If you're running on the ground, he'll swing his sword multiple times. If he does this, jump up and fly away. Even running away is difficult because of the two Fairies that accompany him. After Oswald is finished using his Shadow Form, he'll sit there for several seconds. Take that time to start pummeling him with your Crossbow. If you're getting desperate, use Piercing Shot as it'll take off a huge amount of his health. The Fairies also tend to heal him when he gets low on health. However, unlike when you fought him with Cornelius, this fight is much easier because of one thing: You're able to fly. Like before, you're supposed to jump on Wagner's head, but he has the same arsenal of attacks. If you don't remember what they are: -He'll dive bomb and slide across the ground. This hurts very much and if you're on his head when he's about to do this, jump off immediately. -He'll fly across the screen breathing fire out of his mouth. If you get hit with this, you'll be engulfed in a Level 3 Flame. -He'll summon fireballs to fall from the sky and there will be several whirlwinds in the area to prevent you from running. If you see him flying across the screen while breathing fire, jump up into the twice so that you're flying, and hold up. Once Wagner comes near you, you should be able to land on his head safely. Start pummeling him then and jump off to reload just incase he decides to dive to the ground. Take care of them and go back to area 9 and take the northwest exit. ========= Act 4 ========= Watch the scene. ========= Act 5 ========= ----------------------------------BOSS----------------------------------------- -This will probably be the most and annoying fight you've had in either a long while or so far in the game. This fight will test your fighting skills. Beldor comes with two Axe Knights, and while taking them out eases the difficulty slightly, it still becomes a pain when the other enemies emerge to help him. Like with the other wizards, you'll need to hit Beldors swords back at him to stun him momentarily and then start rapidly shooting at him to take off as much health as possible. If your POW Meter runs out, find an open area to reload. Beldor is nasty and will often summon poison clouds underneath you and a green mist underneath you to turn you into a Frog. Flying through the air will help you avoid these. Beldor will usually summon four swords to surround you if you stray too far and he'll often shoot out a bunch of fireballs at you. Once you see four swords spinning around near him, run in and knock them into him and start attacking him. She'll stick to the same usual tricks, such as summoning flying skeletons to do her work for her and she'll whip out those spider legs of hers once she gets low on health to heal yourself. Lucky for you, you're using Mercedes this time, meaning you can keep your distance a bit while you pummel away. If you have the Overload Psypher skill, this would be a good time to use it. Keep shooting her and run away when you need to either reload or back off when it gets too crowded with the flying skeletons.
