Clutch -                  X           A             A

Timing
===========

First off, I'll say that the best way to get timing down is in the Slam Dunk
School- Advanced Practice. The trouble that most people have with timing is
the button presses from gather to dunk. You'll usually need to press the dunk
button just after the gather to get in the air. If the player consistently
jumps half-heartedly, then you probably need to press the dunk button sooner
or start the whole process sooner. Its usually pretty good to start from just
inside the 3-point line.
Once at the rim, holding the dunk button til just the right moment leads to a
better finish(some dunks need to be held longer than others). A couple lead
to a different finish for the dunk.
Also 180 dunks can be turned into 360 (or 540/720) by rotating the left analog
stick before takeoff.

Note: higher spin dunks need to be held longer than 180s

See Tips/Tricks Section for help on the 720/540 2 Hand-Reverse

==============================================================================

                            ---------------
II. Modifiers
                            ---------------

Pressing different combinations of L/R along with the dunk process will
produce different results. (Ex. pressing '2 Foot Gather' then 'Tomahawk'
usually leads to a two-handed tomahawk dunk, but if L is held then it becomes
the Dee Brown 'cover the eyes' dunk). L/R also modify the alley-oops thrown
(see ball toss section).

Pressing L during the gather will reverse the spin/handing of the dunk.

VIII. Tips/Tricks
                           -------------------

-Repeatedly doing the same dunks gets you lower scores

-Catching an alley-oop on the way up leaves more time to do the better dunks

-Practice at the same level you intend to play, since the delay for holding
buttons gets shorter at harder difficulties

-Getting a big finish will up the score you recieve

-It is possible to do a previous dunk but perform it better to get a good score

-Hold the dunk button to cancel the attempt

-Alley-oops generally land you higher scores

-You can get the most air by holding the gather until the last possible moment
before the takeoff

-Practice in Slam Dunk School(it works wonders)

****~*~*~*~****

In the All-Star Game, Rookie Challenge, One on One, and Individual
Practice modes, it is possible to throw yourself an alley-oop off of the
backboard by pushing in the right stick then going up to catch it like a tip

                         -------------------------
IX. Catching Alley-Oops
                         -------------------------

Due to requests I am dedicating a whole section to catching alley-oops.

It is usally easiest to catch the basic lob alley-oops before they hit the
ground(on some it is easier to catch them off of the bounce). You need to
time the jump so that the ball gets close enough to the player's hands that
he catches the ball during his jump. For the more advanced oops(ie. . off the
camera), its takes some practice to get the timing/distance down. It is
possible to do practically all of the dunks off of tosses, but you'll need
to time the toss so that the player catches it JUST as he's leaving the ground.
When doing alley-oop combinations, don't forget to hold the dunk button until
the right moment for a big finish. Once you master catching alley-oops it is
possible to get near perfect or perfect scores for reular dunks done with an
alley combo(such as between the legs; guaranteed 50).

==============================================================================

                        ---------------------------
X. 720/540 2 Hand Reverse
                        ---------------------------

Theses are undeniably the two hardest dunks to pull off in the dunk contest.
This is why I decided to dedicate a whole section to them.

The Process
===========

The tricks are done by using the 1 Foot 180 gather. After the gather, you
need to rotate the left stick counter-clockwise twice. After the rotations
cue the dunk with L+Windmill for the 540 2 Hand Reverse or R+Windmill for the
720.

The Rotations
=============

First off, the rotations need to be CLEAN(the stick must be pushed all the way
out for the full duration of the rotations). It may be possible to do the
dunks by rotating clockwise, but I have only been able to perform them by
rotating counter-clockwise. Practice makes perfect here, as it takes time
to be able to rotate the stick cleanly AND quickly.

The Timing
===========

I usually start the gather from a couple feet inside the 3 point line. Start
rotating the stick AS SOON AS you input the gather. Once you complete 2 full
rotations, cue the dunk. Let the dunk buttons go as the first 360 is being
completed. If the player drops the ball, then hold it a bit longer.

Note: On most of the other rotation dunks, it is possible to input the
      rotations while the player is in the air. This is not the case as the
      player will start the dunk with a windmill cupping the ball or the
      Statue of Liberty(meaning success) depending on wether you were able
      to input the full 720 before your player left the ground.
