Contact ===================================================== ( I )===============Introduction===================== ===================================================== Well, because I have been getting Emails asking for Red Bubble items, Ive decided to remove the old section from my walkthrough, and make a separate FAQ just for the bubbles. I hope that you find this guide more helpful and easier to use compared to the Red Bubble Section in my Monster Hunter 2 walkthrough. ===================================================== ( II )==========What are Red Bubbles?================ ===================================================== In Monster Hunter 2, you must interact with the Villagers a bit more than you did in Monster Hunter 1. To progress in the game, you must complete various Red Bubble requests from the Villagers. They are quite easy to see, a simple red speech bubble above a villagers head. Most are mandatory to finish the game, while others can be considered optional... to a certain extent. If you want to get to certain places in the game, such as the original map in Monster Hunter: Forest and Hills, you will have to complete these requests. For the most part, you will need to finish all the requests to progress. But, they have another use; by completing the Red Bubbles, you can upgrade certain parts of the village (Lv 3 is the Maximum) Tavern: The Tavern upgrades from red bubbles that you must do to complete the game. Just keep progressing and it will eventually hit Lv 3. Armory: The Blacksmiths requests are optional. Although, if you want the Legendary Blacksmith to appear, (He provides the Lao-Shan quest) you will need the Armory at Lv 3. Mine: The mine upgrades in a different way. You dont need red bubbles, instead you must give the guy inside the mine Pickaxes. Eventually the mine cart on the side will fill up and the Mine will level up. (The apprentice in the mine will show up eventually, be patient.) Shipyard: The Catfish man (Arm-wrestling guy) will give you the ability to travel to Kokoto if you get the Shipyard to Lv 3. You will encounter Rathalos, Chachabu, and Oonazuchi here. Thats it for uses of the Red bubbles. ===================================================== ( III )========What are Blue Bubbles For?============ ===================================================== Blue bubbles are very useful as well. Unlike the mandatory Red requests, you must complete Blue bubbles to make optional Red bubbles appear. They are usually very easy, and consist of item requests, and 1-3* quests. After doing a number of Blue requests, a Red bubble appears for the specific area. Example: The Blacksmith has a blue bubble for you, and you complete it. A bit later, a few of her apprentices have Blue Bubbles over their heads. You complete those, and a Red Bubble appears over the Blacksmiths head. The Armory consists of the Blacksmith herself, and her apprentices; while the Shipyard consists of the Combiner, the Catfish man, and the two eventual merchants at the bottom of the village. (I think the Cat merchant may be included too, I have not tested this.) Keep in mind that Blue bubbles are totally optional if you dont want to do the Red Bubbles. If you desperately need to upgrade a part of town, just switch seasons and new blue bubbles will appear. Thats all you need to know about Blue Bubbles. ===================================================== ( IV )=========Red Bubble Request List=============== ===================================================== Here it is, the entire red bubble item list. The list of Blue Bubbles is very long, and they appear on the game at random; so Im not going to list them. So there is no confusion, the Village Chief is the guy with the big nose that runs around with the bag of paper on his back, the Traveling Merchant Lady is the lady with the giant backpack, and the Combiner is the guy across from the Cat merchant. ----------------------------------------------------- Village chief: 1. 5 Blue mushrooms, 1 Bullfango pelt. 2. 3 Velocidrome claws, 1 Dos Fango hide 3. Hopefully, this will make it easier to read. ------------------------------------------- | | | Basarios Shell | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Kill a Basarios and carve it. The Basarios is the small stone wyvern in the Volcano. ------------------------------------------- | | | Blue Mushroom | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Found pretty much everywhere in the Jungle. Just search near any Mushroom patches that are scattered throughout the map. ------------------------------------------- | | | Blue ??? Items | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Combine Babakonga Hides with Large Monster bones. Babakonga hides are from the giant pink monkey, and large monster bones are the Rare-5 square items. (You should know the symbol from MH1) Large bones are gotten from monsters like Plesioth and Gravios. ------------------------------------------- | | | Bullfango Pelt | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Kill a Bullfango and carve it. They are usually found in area 9 of the Jungle. ------------------------------------------- | | | Cactus Plant | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Area 1 of the Desert. Enter from the camp and run straight across to the cave. Youll see a pile of rocks and some plants. Search there for the pink plant. ------------------------------------------- | | | Diablos Horn | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Break both the horns off a Diablos and kill it. You should get the horn in the rewards. The Diablos is the wyvern in the desert that can dig underground. ------------------------------------------- | | | Dos Fango Bone-Thing | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: I dont know the actual name of this, and thats the most descriptive name I could come up with. Killing a Dos Fango usually gets you a few in the rewards. ------------------------------------------- | | | Dos Fango Hide | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Kill a Dos Fango and carve it. The Dos Fango is the alpha version of the Bullfango. ------------------------------------------- | | | Earth Crystal | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Mined at almost all mining spots. Its a white ore symbol. ------------------------------------------- | | | Electro Sac | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: These can only be gotten from the Khezu. Fortunately, they arent rare. The Khezu is the blind, gray wyvern that you fight in the Swamp and Mountains. ------------------------------------------- | | | Flame Sac | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: The internal organ from a flame breathing monster. These can be gotten from the Rathian, Rathalos, Kut-Ku, Gravios, and a few others. ------------------------------------------- | | | Gendrome Hide | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Kill a Gendrome a carve it. The Gendrome is the Alpha form of the Genprey. ------------------------------------------- | | | Gizami Claw | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Kill a Blue crab. Carve it. He has about 5 items that show a claw symbol, but only one of them is the actual claw. ------------------------------------------- | | | Gizami Shell | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Break the Blue Crabs Shell Twice, and you have a chance of getting one in the rewards. ------------------------------------------- | | | Gravios Shell | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Kill a Gravios to and carve it. The Gravios is the large stone wyvern in the Volcano and Swamp. ------------------------------------------- | | | Gypceros Hide | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: A hide from the Gypceros. These arent rare whatsoever, and you should get at least one from each Gypceros you kill. ------------------------------------------- | | | Ice Crystal | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Light blue crystal mined at night only. Areas 4, 7, and 8 of the Jungle seem to give many of these. ------------------------------------------- | | | Ice Prey hides | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: The hide of an Ice Velociprey. Found in the Mountains and Tower only. ------------------------------------------- | | | Iodrome Hide | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Kill an Iodrome and carve it. The Iodrome is the alpha form of the red prey; Ioprey. ------------------------------------------- | | | Ioprey Hide | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Carved from the small red prey. ------------------------------------------- | | | Iron Ore | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Mine it in pretty much any mining spot. Jungle area 1 seems to have the most in the Jungle area. ------------------------------------------- | | | Khezu hide | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Carved from a Khezu. ------------------------------------------- | | | Kut-Ku Shell | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Kill a Kut-Ku and carve it. ------------------------------------------- | | | Kut Ku Webbing | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Kill a Kut-Ku and carve it. The Kut-Ku is the small pink wyvern that you fight early on in the game. ------------------------------------------- | | | Large Monster Bone | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: For those of you who are familiar with Monster Hunter 1, you will know what these look like. You can get these from large monsters like Plesioth and Gravios. ------------------------------------------- | | | Light Crystal | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Break the crest on the Gypceros head. You should get one in the rewards for this. The Gypceros is the purple monster that spits poison. ------------------------------------------- | | | Machalite Ore | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Blue ore mined in a few mining spots; areas 4, 7 and 8 in the Jungle. ------------------------------------------- | | | Medium Monster Bone | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Like the Large Monster bone, these are gotten by killing certain monsters. Monsters like the Kut-Ku, Basarios, and Cephalodrome give these bones. ------------------------------------------- | | | Medium Size Claw | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: This is gotten from the Zazami. Breaking both claws improves the chances of getting claws in the rewards, but you should get them without breaking his claws. Im not sure if you can get them from the smaller red crabs. I never have. ------------------------------------------- | | | Plesioth Fin | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Attack the Plesioths body until the fin on its back breaks. You should get one in the rewards for it. The Plesioth is the giant fish wyvern. ------------------------------------------- | | | Plesioth Scale | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: A scale from a Plesioth. Again, like Gypceros hides, these arent rare. And with the 4 carves you get from a Plesioth; Id be surprised if you didnt get at least two each kill. ------------------------------------------- | | | Psychoserum | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Bought from the Lady with a big backpack. Its an orange potion symbol. ------------------------------------------- | | | Purple Herb | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: These are only gotten at night. Search area 4 and area 2 in the Jungle. ------------------------------------------- | | | Red Book | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: To get this you must combine three other red books together. 1. Bought from the Lady with the big backpack. 2. Traded for a Kusharudaora scale in the Jungle. 3. Gotten from the guy in the Town mine. Give him a pickaxe, and hell mine for you. ------------------------------------------- | | | Silver Plant | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Search the destroyed camp in area 7 of the Mountain. These are also gotten in the rewards from Dodobrango. ------------------------------------------- | | | Small Crab Claw | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Carved from the small red crabs. Found in area 4 of the Jungle. ------------------------------------------- | | | Stag Horn | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Carved from the Deer-like creatures in the Mountain. ------------------------------------------- | | | Sun Stone | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: These can only be mined during the day. Area 4, 7 and 8 are the only Jungle mining spots for these stones. ------------------------------------------- | | | Tomato | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Volcano area 2. As soon as you enter from area 1 turn left and search the weeds there. ------------------------------------------- | | | Velocidrome Claw | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Kill a Velocidrome and carve it. The Velocidrome is the Alpha version of the small blue monsters (Velociprey). ------------------------------------------- | | | White ??? Items | | | ------------------------------------------- Location: Combine a Dodobrango Hide with a Dodobrango Mustache. These are gotten from the white monkey. ===================================================== ( VI )==================Legal======================== ===================================================== This guide may not be reproduced under any circumstances except for personal, private use.
