I've created this particular Faq for a reason. I'm sick of seeing people run after Rathalos with Fire based weapons. I'm sick of seeing people run after Khezu with Dragon elemental weapons... Seriously... So, I hope this Faq will inform you about the most effective (and timely) ways to whipe a wyvern out. I know, I sorta dipped into this in my DS faq. This time, I'm going all out. EVERY status element is here.... Even "knock out".... For the sake of arguement, its an element... You can inflict it to them, they can do it to you... Its an element... Also, if you play MHG and you're reading this for a guide, DON'T. The elemental differences are much greater in MHG than in MH. ----------------------------------Updates--------------------------------------- 9/8/05: This Faq finally came into light. 7 Hours later, its finished =3. 9/10/05: Added all of the weapons and elements that I didn't list. 9/11/05: Added sharpness info in weapons section. 9/25/05: Added more information about Poison, Stun and Sleep. More on Grav too. 10/17/05: Further Explained attribute damage from Wyverns/Bosses/Minions. 11/24/05: Added Stun holds for all wyverns. Added Poison Holds for all wyverns. 11/24:05: Working on Sleep holds and timing them. Working on PSN damage per 5 seconds. 01/09/06: Updated more information and allowed another site to use the guide. 04/29/06: Proof that I knew what I was talking about, posted. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 2. Weapons And Their Elements xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Ok, I'm going to list every single weapon you can get by types, under their respective elements. Also, you'll "hear" me call Stun, Poison, KO and Sleep "2nd party elements". I call them this because you can't see your resistances or weaknesses to them in the armor page. If that's the case, obviously, 1st party elements are Dragon, Fire, Thunder and Water... You get the picture. The weapons will be listed in Alpha Order. Listed next to them, Attack + element damage. EX: Great Swords: Chrome Razor 912+ 320 Poison Hammers: I like kitties -15 + 100 Poison Short Swords: Another Made Up Weapon 9999+ 999 Poison You get the picture. By type, listed, and then the next type. =====================Proof I was correct about Stun/Sleep======================= Note: I'm not listing defense bonuses. As Defense is NOT an element. *UPDATE +1* http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fmmpotato.hp.infoseek. co.jp%2Fcodes%2FMH2%2F&langpair=ja%7Cen&hl=en&safe=off&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev =%2Flanguage_tools Yes. I'm aware its for MH2. However, when I created this guide, I stated that a stun'd creature takes 2x damage. Well, I was infact wrong, it takes 1.1x. I've also stated that Sleep 3x wakening hit also existed. BUT WAIT! I must be pyschic. I MUST HAVE SOME HOW INVENTED A TIME MACHINE, GRABBED MH2 AND RETURNED to the date 9/8/05/. I MUST HAVE THAT MUST BE IT. Or, for those of you with a brain in your head, I was ALWAYS RIGHT. Don't believe me, click the supplied link, scroll down. Almost to the bottom of the page... Look for the "State" box. What does it tell you? It tells you what Akubarix told you last fricken year. There is a reason why I've always gotten so angry. Its because I KNEW I WAS CORRECT. =========================A Word About Element Testing=========================== Before you go all "ZOMG!" on me, I tested this on MONSTER HUNTER, NOT MHG. I'm only using MHG's elemental numbers. That's about it. If I had tested in MHG, my data would be completely different. How so? Let's take Gravios for example. In MH, it cripples him... Baddly. In MHG, dragon element has lost its "1st hold", and it deals NORMAL damage to him. MH: CRIPPLES MHG: NORMAL Get it now? Ok. Just as long as you don't think I ran to MHG for this. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! 2nd Party elements DO NOT HAVE FIRST PARTY PROPORTIES. What do I mean? Poison IS NOT water Element Based. Sleep ISN'T Fire based. Stun ISN'T Thunder based. *Update: Its been said that Poison Clouds, Shock Sparks and Sleep Clouds deal absolutely no damage. Funny how vespoids where used as a key example. Let me blow that out of the water for you. Vespoids/Hornets share the same weakness. Poison is their kryptonite and it will normally "drop" them. However, when Chrome Razor comes into play... The following happened. I started Attack of the Giant Bugs+. Out of 6 Vespoid+, 2 actually "drop'd" when my Poison Cloud went off. What does this mean? It means they don't always drop when it comes to poison. Priority wise, ATTACK> POISON CLOUD against bugs. So, I did this again, with Deadly Poison and regular AGB. I hit a Hornetaur with 4 hits; destroyed it. The element never fired off. I hit a different Hornetaur 4 hits. Element fired off on my last hitand it blew up on me like normal. Did I poison it? I guess by *other* people's logic, I must have poisoned it for a split second and it must have dealt 99999999 to it right? Of course. Because people don't test these things out. They grab a book and automatically become experts. How I love the stupidity. =============================A Word About Sharpness============================= First off, if for some reason you don't know what sharpness is, or how to read the sharpness guage... There are 4 Colors. These colors tell you how sharp a weapon is and will indicate how well it can cut through monsters. Here's a break down of how they all work. Red: The worst sharpness reading. You deal .5 of your attack power. Orange: A poor sharpness reading. You deal .75 of your attack power. Yellow: An average sharpness reading. You deal 1.0 of your attack power. Green: The best sharpness reading. You deal 1.125 of your attack power. The "duller" a weapon is, the less likely it is to cut through thick hide. Weapons with green status only deflect on tough wyvern hide. Also, sharpness affects your ELEMENTAL damage as well... How to read the sharpness bar on the status screen: If a weapon has all 4 colors and completely fills the guage. It should look something like this: Red>Orange>Yellow>Green If a weapon doesn't use the entire guage, it'll look like this: Red>Orange>Yellow>Green>Black The black is just guage that isn't used. Black is just... Empty space on the guage. So, does sharpness affect your ELEMENT's damage? Yes. It does. Like attack power, if your sharpness is low (like orange or red) you're not going to be dealing jack with it, no matter how weak a monster is to your element. Here's how what Break down. Red: 25% Orange: 50% Yellow: 75% Green: 100% This is BEFORE weakness/resistance is applied. Don't think that if you're up against Khezu, you're hitting him for 300+ dragon element with Black Dragon Sword. In reality, you're probably hitting him for 5 dragon element.... God I still hate Khezu... Let me further explain this, because the general MH Community = idiots. IF YOU HAVE A RATHALOS FIRE SWORD AND IT HAS 480 FIRE ELEMENT, YOU'RE NOT DEALING 430 FIRE DAMAGE TO YOUR TARGET. ==================================Dragon======================================== Like your dragon element? look no further, here's the list of all their weapons. Also, I added guns JUST for this section, as Dragon S has Dragon element. I'm just listing the guns that use it. Nothing else... Its still pretty unknown how much elemental damage a Dragon shot does. Making it worse, is the fact that it acts like pierce on steriods, hitting multiple times... --------------------------------Dual Swords------------------------------------- Double Dragon 266 + 220 Dragon Dual Dragon Ultimus 294 + 280 Dragon --------------------------------Great Swords------------------------------------ Dragon Massacre 768 + 460 Dragon Dragon Slayer 672 + 330 Dragon Eternal Annhilator 912 + 500 Dragon Fire Dragonsword 768 attack + 260 Dragon Red Dragonsword 960 + 380 Dragon -------------------------------------Guns--------------------------------------- Fletchette - Dragon Shot (480 Dragon) Injector Cannon - Dragon Shot (480 Dragon) ----------------------------------Hammers--------------------------------------- Dragon Breaker 988 + 330 Dragon Dragon Destroyer 832 + 170 Dragon -----------------------------------Lances--------------------------------------- Black Dragon Spear 552+ 320 Dragon Dragon Lance 414 + 290 Dragon Dragoon Lord 482 + 300 Dragon --------------------------------Short Swords------------------------------------ Black Dragon Sword 322 + 300 Dragon Dragon Blood 280 + 240 Dragon Dragon Buster 252 + 200 Dragon Eternal Strife 84 + 630 Dragon =====================================Fire======================================= Like that little explosion? So do I. Here's a list of Fire Based Weapons. --------------------------------Dual Swords------------------------------------- Gradios 196 + 150 Fire Gradios+ 224 + 180 Fire Gradios Ultimus 252 + 250 Fire --------------------------------Great Swords------------------------------------ Rathalos Fire Sword 672 + 480 Fire Red Wing 624 + 330 Fire ----------------------------------Hammers--------------------------------------- Dead Revolver 936 + 320 Fire Gun Hammer Prototype 780 + 200 Fire -----------------------------------Lances--------------------------------------- Crimson Lance 345 + 310 Fire Crimson War Pike 368 + 340 Fire Gatling Lance 345 + 410 Fire Gun Lance Prototype 298 + 310 Fire Hell Fire 207 + 340 Fire Red Tail 230 + 200 Fire Red Tail+ 276 + 260 Fire Spear Of Prominence 322 + 340 Fire --------------------------------Short Swords------------------------------------ Blazing Flachion 238 + 380 Fire Corona 168 + 440 Fire Crimson Club 168 + 140 Fire Flaming Flachion 224 + 310 Fire Monoblos Club 196 + 310 Fire Red Sabre 196 + 240 Fire Red Sabre+ 210 + 270 Fire ==================================Knock Out===================================== Yeah, there are NO WEAPONS that contain this Element... However, Flashbombs do. ----------------------------------Flash Bombs----------------------------------- Flash Bug + Bomb Material = Flash Bomb Sap Plant+ Stone = Bomb Material To get Flash Bugs, you can just grab a bug net.. And "bug hunt" for them. Look for the bug locations. They are the little green lights you see in caves and such. Here's list of things Flash Bombs work on: Apceros Aptonoth Basarios* Diablos Felynx Gendrome Genprey Gravios* Kelbi Iodrome Ioprey Melynx Monoblos Mosswine Rathalos Rathian Velocidrome Velociprey Vespiods Yian Kut Ku *note*: When you Flash Bomb Basarios and Gravios, they tend to Roar a lot... ====================================Poison====================================== Poison is under-rated, but still commonly used. Bug hunts for one =/ I'm not adding "guns" for this, because well... There are A LOT of guns that use Poison shots. On top of that, there are 2 types of Poison Shot. Poison deals damage, even when you're not hitting it. I <3 Poison. Its my favorite element for a reason. Its also the same reason that Chrome Razor and Gravios Spear are Top Tier weapons. Poison CAN kill things on its own, pending the timing and the target's HP. NOTHING (cept for Lao...) can nullify Poison. I've seen it kill Basarios and Gypceros on its own. And they are the "kings" of Poison. So, with that said, you understand why Poison DOESN'T suck. Many people ask if the "cloud" from Poison element hurts their target. YES, it does. I found that out during my testing. Now, people have been whining about Gravios vs Poison,vs, Gravios vs Dragon. Let me further explain poison for you. Update: Let's take Diablos. Diablos has a poison time of 120 SECONDS. THAT'S TWO WHOLE MINUTES. I looked at the wrong listing(Used Gyps' data -.-) and retested this out. Gravios' poison hold is about 25-30 seconds. That's a NORMAL hold. What does this mean? All right, I even retested this to shut you IGN users up. Take a Gravios Spear solo Gravios+ with it. Takes 35 minutes. Take Black Dragon Spear. Solo Grav+ with it. Takes 30 minutes. GASP! Dragon does more to Gravios than Poison does. DERRRRR. *note: This is hitting Gravios+ in the SAME spot* Now, Diablos is another story. Poison cripples him (Monoblos as well) more than any other element. 1 minute of poison is like hitting a wyvern for a minute straight non-stop. Its NOTHING to scoff at. So remember that the next time someone's using Deadly Poison in your group and you 'lol' at them. -----------------------------------Great Sword---------------------------------- Chrome Razor 912 + 320 Poison -------------------------------------Hammers------------------------------------ Catcus Creamer 104 + 260 Poison Gigaton Hammer 724 + 120 Poison Gigaton Hammer+ 780 + 180 Poison Graviton Hammer 728 + 180 Poison Shell Hammer 676 + 90 Poison Titan Hammer 832 + 240 Poison --------------------------------------Lances------------------------------------ Gravios Spear 414 + 270 Poison Native 184 + 330 Poison Venom Lance 276 + 120 Poison Venom Lance+ 322+ 140 Poison Venom Spear 368 + 220 Poison -----------------------------------Short Swords--------------------------------- Deadly Poison 168 + 360 Poison Hydra Bite 84 + 200 Poison Hydra Bite+ 126 + 280 Poison Poison Axe 224 + 180 Poison Poison Battle Axe 238 + 260 Poison =====================================Sleep====================================== Like Water Element, Sleep is under-rated. However, its THE most under-rated element in the ENTIRE game. Why? Because people are too stupid to notice that sleeping monsters take 3x damage from a single blow or multiple blows. Last I checked, putting something to sleep, so I could heal/sharpness/eat meat, was a damn good thing. Not only that, its FREE HITS while its staggering awake. The next time someone says 'sleep sucks', punch them in the stomach. *Sandman Finsword is THE rarest WEAPON in the game. I've ran into 2 people who have ever used it.* If you put something to sleep, they DON'T recover any HP. They only recover HP when they choose to go to sleep on their own... In further testing, I found that only certain monsters have the sleep/stun damage multiplier. --------------------------------------Hammer------------------------------------ Teddy Bear 260 + 200 Sleep -------------------------------------Lances------------------------------------- Lullaby Spear 161 + 160 Sleep NightMare 207 + 260 Sleep Reqiem Spear 184 + 200 Sleep -----------------------------------Short Swords--------------------------------- Sand-Man Finsword 168 + 230 Sleep Weary Finsword 140 + 180 Sleep Weary Finsword+ 154 + 200 Sleep ======================================Stun====================================== Everyone loves stun. I have yet to see ANYONE say that stun element sucked. I will never hear someone SERIOUSLY say it. When you stun something, anything that hits the target (whether it be kicks, a weapon, or stones etc) and deals damage, deals TWICE (2x) the ammount of damage to the target. Stun is great for setting up traps, or just getting free hits. If you can make ANY kind of stun weapon, go for it, try it in a group and see how quickly you take your next Plesioth down... ------------------------------------Hammers------------------------------------- Binder Mace 780 + 280 Stun Iron Devil 884 + 180 Stun Jail Hammer 624 + 100 Stun Jail Hammer+ 676 + 160 Stun Prison Hammer 728 + 190 Stun ------------------------------------Lances-------------------------------------- Dark Lance 115 + 100 Stun Dark Lance+ 138 + 130 Stun Dark Spear 161 + 160 Stun Shock Lance 184 + 240 Stun Trident 230 + 300 Stun ----------------------------------Short Swords---------------------------------- Cat Burglar 28 + 300 Stun Cat's Paw 112 + 180 Stun Death Prize 210 + 260 Stun Viper Bite 182 + 180 Stun Viper Bite+ 196 + 220 Stun ==================================Thunder======================================= Zappy Zappy, Thunder is an under-rated element... There are 4 "fully mastered" Thunder Weapons in all... No wonder no one uses it... ---------------------------------Dual Swords------------------------------------ Guillotine 266 + 180 Thunder Prototype Saw Slicer 224 + 120 Thunder ---------------------------------Great Sword------------------------------------ Eager Cleaver 720 + 320 Thunder ---------------------------------Short Sword------------------------------------ Fright Bane 280 + 220 Thunder Kirin Bolt 182 + 200 Thunder Kirin Bolt+ 196 + 250 Thunder Kirin Bolt Mega 210 + 300 Thunder Kirin Bolt Ultimus 224 + 340 Thunder Thunder Bane 210 + 160 Thunder Thunder Bane+ 280 + 180 Thunder Thunder Tip 308 + 240 Thunder ====================================Water======================================= THE most under-rated 1st party element. Water cripples the major wyverns like Diablos, yet I have only seen people who I've already instructed, use it on any thing bigger than a shoe. There are slightly more options with Water, but not many... ----------------------------------Dual Swords----------------------------------- Cutlass 182 + 130 Water Cutlass+ 210 + 210 Water Guild Rapier 210 + 140 Water Guild Rapier+ 224 + 190 Water Guild Saber 238 + 230 Water ---------------------------------Great Swords----------------------------------- Fin Blade 480 + 280 Water Fin Blade+ 624 + 340 Water Frozen Tuna 480 + 280 Water Plesioth Watersword 768 + 460 Water ------------------------------------Lances-------------------------------------- Aqua Lance 230 + 210 Water Aqua Lance+ 253 + 230 Water Vacuum Striker 138 + 270 Water ----------------------------------Short Sword----------------------------------- Oddyssey 280 + 300 Water Element xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 3. Minion Elemental Damage xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Yes I know, calling Kelbi a minion is rather... Farfetched. But you know what? I couldn't think of anything better to name these annoying pests (everything in general). I mean... think about it, when A Rathian plows into a Bullfango in the swamp, who does the Bullfango attack? You. Exactly. I know you might not THINK that this is important, but do believe me, it is... *update* Apparently, MY TERM caught on and some douche bag stole it and didn't give me credit for it. =============================How to Read the Chart============================== This is taken from my DS faq, word for word... Minus the 2nd party, that's all new. Enjoy. Grade damage like this, Best To worse: Excellent, Great, Good, Normal, Poor, Negated The chart will be like this: Attribute: (what element(s) a wyvern is) Dragon: (how well does dragon work on it? You better hope so, DDU>you X3.) Fire: (Does fire burn your foe to cinders?) Thunder: (Shocking, isn't It? Lets hope so) Water: (FLOODING Wyverns is always fun... if they're weak vs water...) Rec: Recommended Duals for the job. -2ndParty- KO- Does Knock Out Work on them? Poison: Does Poison hold for a long time? Sleep: Does Sleep work on it? ( Time rating= short, normal, long) Stun: Does Stun work on it? How long does it hold? (see above time rating) Misc: Bonus info for the bored/unknowning. With testing, I've found that Negated elements deal NOTHING to the wyvern. So, if you can help it, don't use a Gradios Ultimus on a Rathalos or Gravios... Also keep in mind, I didn't have to go through all this trouble, so DON'T have the ignorance to tell me I'm wrong. Unless you spent the time I did testing, shut your pie hole and learn how to be greatful. This is here to aid Dual Sword users and everyone else. Before continuing, let me further explain the purpose of me pointing out the attributes. Basarios has Water "set" as his attribute. So if you have good water resistance his physical attacks will deal slightly less. Attributes do NOT affect what a Monster is weak vs. Basarios resists Thunder something fierce, despite being a water type, while Cephalos/Cephalos (who are also water types) get murdered by Thunder element. ------------------------------------Apceros------------------------------------- These things piss me off. Its like they have conversations like this: "Hey, Fred. I got an idea." "What Tim?" "Lets go attack those hunters, who are doing absolutely nothing to bother us." "...Ok, JOIN UP BOB!" "WILL DO!" Yeah, these things get in the way... A lot. So chances are you're either forced to dodge them, or force to kill them. Attribute: None Dragon: Normal Fire: Good Thunder: Poor Water: Excellent 2nd Party: KO: Yes, Long Hold Poison: Yes, Long Hold Sleep: Yes, Normal Hold Stun: Yes, Short Hold Misc: -I hate these things more than Khezu. =/ -These will attack you for no reason what so ever. Kill them before something else kills you. -----------------------------------Aptonoth------------------------------------- NOOB! I sware... Even Kut Ku laughs at these things. Aptonoth are so easy to kill, they virtually kill themselves. Not only this, they take normal damage from everything. Not a surprize, as they're the first monster you'll encounter.. Attribute: None Dragon: Normal Fire: Normal Thunder: Normal Water: Normal 2nd Party: KO: Yes, Long Hold Poison: Yes, Short Hold Sleep: Yes, Normal Hold Stun: Yes, Normal Hold Misc: -I <3 Aptonoth. -Good for stocking up on raw meat and Sm Monster bones. -They're in the hardest quest ever... "Party Time". -Yes, I was using sarcasm. -They run as soon as a wyvern/drome sees you. ----------------------------------Bullfango------------------------------------- EVERYONE hates Bullfango. Don't lie to yourself, you hate it too. These things annoy everyone. They're just like Apceros, cept they THROW you across the screen if they ram into you... Stupid pigs... Attribute: None Dragon: Poor Fire: Great Thunder: Normal Water: Excellent 2nd Party: KO: No Poison: Yes, Normal Hold Sleep: Yes, Short Hold Stun: Yes, Short Hold Misc: -I hate these more than Apceros. -Bullfangos suck. -Bullfangos are commies. -----------------------------------Cephalos------------------------------------- Really, really low end "fish". 6 Hits with most of the "weak" weapons kill it. Think, mini Cephadrome... Or a really small Plesioth... That lives in the sand. Yeah... Attribute: None Dragon: Poor Fire: Great Thunder: Excellent Water: Good 2nd Party: KO: No Poison: Yes, Short Hold Sleep: Yes, Short Hold Stun: Yes, Short Hold Misc: -Sonics flush them out. -Cephalos are clearable in Cephadrome quests. -bombs (EX, barrel bombs) can flush them out too. -------------------------------------Felyne------------------------------------- KITTIES! KILL THE KITTIES! These are the WHITE cats. Attribute: None Dragon: Poor Fire: Good Thunder: Excellent Water: Great 2nd Party: KO: Yes, Normal Hold Poison: Yes, Short Hold Sleep: Yes, Short Hold Stun: Yes, Short Hold Misc: -They can throw bombs at you. -FOR SOME REASON, thunder weakens them MORE than water... Go figure. -They have their own event quest. ------------------------------------Genprey------------------------------------- No one hates Genprey, they just don't like them. Genprey are basically yellow V.Prey with Stun abilities. Attribute: None Dragon: Normal Fire: Good Thunder: Poor Water: Excellent 2nd Party: KO: Yes, Normal Hold Poison: Yes, short Hold Sleep: Yes, short Hold Stun: Yes, Short Hold Misc: -Normally found in desert areas. -AntiStun skill = LOL at Genprey. -Genprey make for decent gunner armor. -----------------------------------Hornetaur------------------------------------ Hornetaur can be annoying, but they aren't too big a problem. They make for good armor starting off, and their + armor isn't bad either... Attribute: None Dragon: Negated Fire: Excellent Thunder: Poor Water: Poor 2nd Party: KO: No Poison: Yes, Long Hold Sleep: No. Stun: Yes, Normal Hold Misc: -Hornetaurs have an ironic name, as they are BEATLES. -Hornet's have one of the most sought out item, the Hornet BladeFin. -Hornetaur armor mis-leads. They resist water. -Their armor features Anti-Poison, yet... You CAN poison them. -------------------------------------Ioprey------------------------------------- Ioprey are... Well... Stupid. They have extreme acuracy, and they're the strongest of the raptor family. Attribute: None Dragon: Poor Fire: Poor Thunder: Normal Water: Great 2nd Party: KO: Yes, Normal Hold Poison: Yes, Normal Hold Sleep: Yes, Normal Hold Stun: Yes, Short Hold Misc: -Normally found in the Volcano and Jungle Areas. -They can Poison you. -Anti Poison = 'LOL' at them. -They seem to enjoy blowing up the rocks on Basarios quests. --------------------------------------Kelbi------------------------------------- DEER! DEER! DEATH! Its pretty hard NOT to kill a Kelbi in one hit, but signs point to the following status... Attribute: None Dragon: Poor Fire: Normal Thunder: Normal Water: Good 2nd Party: KO: Yes, Long Hold Poison: Yes, Long Hold Sleep: Yes, Long Hold Stun: Yes, Long Hold Misc: -Kelbi are the weakest creatures in the game. -Kelbi are chewy (the game says so). -Kelbi respawn in the "Armorer" quests if you leave the area. -Kelbi run as soon as a wyvern/drome sees you. -------------------------------------Melynx------------------------------------- Ugh... I hate these kitties. They are black... They steal items. Use Felvine to keep your junk safe. Attribute: None Dragon: Poor Fire: Good Thunder: Excellent Water: Great 2nd Party: KO: Yes, Normal Hold Poison: Yes, Short Hold Sleep: Yes, Short Hold Stun: Yes, Short Hold Misc: -They have the same elemental status as Felyne. -They steal items =/. -If you're in the F/H, Desert or swamp you can get your items back from their dens. -You can't get felvine back in the above said way.... Odd... ------------------------------------Mosswine------------------------------------ Its also hard not to kill these guys in one hit... Harder to get an element reading. Attribute: None Dragon: Normal Fire: Great Thunder: Great Water: good 2nd Party: KO: Yes, Short Hold Poison: Yes, Short Hold Sleep: Yes, Short Hold Stun: Yes, Short Hold Misc: -Mosswine have odd carve items : Blue Mush, Special Mush... -They can point you to Special Mushroom locations. -Mosswine only attack you if "bothered". ------------------------------------Velociprey---------------------------------- Attribute: Water Dragon: Excellent Fire: Normal Thunder: Good Water: Poor 2nd Party: KO: Yes, Normal Hold Poison: Yes, Short Hold Sleep: Yes, Short Hold Stun: Yes, Short Hold Misc: -Pretty easy to clear them out of clear-able areas. -Makes for good starter armor. -Has of one the best armor skills... KO Negated. -------------------------------------Vespoid------------------------------------ Vespoids are probably the 2nd on the list of most annoying "minion. Ugh.... Stupid things... Good carve fodder for poison though. Attribute: None Dragon: Negated Fire: Excellent Thunder: Good Water: Poor 2nd Party: KO: Yes, Short Hold Poison: Yes, Long Hold Sleep: No Stun: Yes, Short Hold Misc: -Vespoids are like Hornet's, they trick you with their armor status. -Vespoid quest (slay 30 or 50) sometimes gives Thunder Bugs in the rewards. -Vespoids can't be put to sleep. Like their armor states... xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 4. Wyvern Elemental Status xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To save me a lot of time, I copied this section from my DS faq. Does that mean nothing new was added? No. I've added some more stuff and the 2nd party info. ==================================Basarios====================================== Basarios is a tricky wyvern. See, I USED to think he was weak vs water. Turns out that water is his attribute. Pretty surprizing eh? Throw on some Plesioth gear, you'll see that you take less damage. Thrown on Hornet+ eh? Notice that his rushes deal more damage? There you go. He's water elemented. Look at his status, you might be surprized to find that somehow a water attributed wyvern is least affected by Thunder, yet Dragon deals MORE damage... Yeah, they fixed that in MHG, so enjoy Dragon element for now X3. Attribute: Water/Poison Dragon: Excellent Fire: Normal Thunder: Poor Water: Poor 2nd Party: KO: Yes* Poison: Yes, Normal Hold Sleep: Yes, Short Hold Stun: Yes, Short Hold Misc: -All 2nd party elements work on him and traps do too. -Basarios is water based, yet doesn't negate water element... -*Basarios roars a lot when Knocked Out =================================Cephadrome===================================== This is basically a Cephalos on steroids. Same Weakness, same attributes. Hell the thing is literally a mini-plesioth, as its resistances are nearly the same. Yes, like Basarios, he is WATER based. However, unlike Basarios... He's actually vulnerable to Fire/Thunder and even his OWN element. Yeah... When I ran up to Cephadrome with Plesioth Water Sword, I didn't expect it to die that quickly.... Attribute: Water Dragon: Negated Fire: Great Thunder: Excellent Water: Good 2nd Party: KO: No Poison: Yes, Short Hold Sleep: Yes, Normal Hold Stun: Yes, Short Hold Misc: -Sonic Bombs, Sm Barrel Bombs, Lg Barrel Bombs, and well timed blows will flush him out. -Ceph' is water based, yet water does a pretty decent chuck of damage to it... ====================================Diablos===================================== Ah yes, no one seems to like fighting Diablos anymore. Wanna know why? Because they either Head Lock, or they use Dragon element. That's right, Diablos laughs at Dragon element, so don't bring it. Unlike most other wyverns, Diablos doesn't have any form of Attribute, so, you don't have to worry about your own armor resistances. Just stress high defense and you'll be fine. Oddly enough, wait until you see what the test pounded out.... Diablos has no REAL weakness. He takes more damage from Water than anything else... Nice to know about the "tunneling tank", eh? Attribute: None Dragon: Poor Fire: Good Thunder: Good Water: Great 2nd Party: KO: Yes, Normal Hold Poison: Yes, Long Hold Sleep: Yes, Normal Hold Stun: Yes, Long Hold Misc: -Diablos has no REAL weakness. -Poison lasts for exactly 1 minute. -Sonics flush Diablos out like a pit-fall trap, as well does well timed Crags. =====================================Gravios==================================== Gravios gives everyone trouble. Maybe more so than Diablos. That's debated. But I have pincered out his weaknesses and I'm shocked to find that Dragon element, like Basarios affects him the most out of the main stream elements. Hopefully, you're not packing fire/thunder based weapons other wise you'll be in for a LONG fight. Gravios is known for his fire elemented beam, but few know that his attacks actually have fire element in them. Throw on Rathalos armor, and give Gravios a try. You'll notice a minor diffrence... Gravios is still a powerhouse , even with fireresistance or sleep prevention, so always keep on your toes. Attribute: Fire/Sleep Dragon: Excellent Fire: Negated Thunder: Poor Water: Great 2nd Party: KO: Yes* Poison: Yes, Normal Hold Sleep: Yes, Short Hold Stun: Yes, Normal Hold Misc: -* KO makes Gravios Roar a lot. -Gravios can be "pincered" in area 4 of the Volcano, if you're fast enough. - All right. I've also gotten emails about Gravios. Despite me saying this in the Poison Sect. Let me repeat it here... POISON DOES NOT DEAL MORE DAMAGE THAN DRAGON ELEMENT TO GRAVIOS!!!! For that matter, it doesn't even do more than Water damage to him. It holds for a normal time length. Now, stop emailing me before I kick you in the throat. =====================================Gypceros=================================== Gyps, as well all know him as, is one of the easiest wyverns to beat. However, even this little bastard can throw in some sucker punches. Not only can he poison you with his breath, but he can knock you out with his light. Rookies always fall for his "special" attack, those of you who have beaten Gyps, know exactly what I'm talking about... As well all know, Gypie no likie fire... Attribute: Poison Dragon: Poor Fire: Excellent Thunder: Poor Water: Poor 2nd Party: KO: No Poison: Yes, Short Hold Sleep: Yes, Long Hold Stun: Yes, Short Hold Misc: -You can block all of Gyps attacks, even the flash. -Gyps always runs in a set patturn. -He's obviously immune to flash, but CAN be poisoned. =====================================Khezu====================================== I've never once seen anyone go "I like Khezu". Never. Gunners know why. Blade Masters know why. No matter which way you slice it, Khezu sucks. His armor doesn't, but he does. Screw you Khezu.... Here's Khezu's Data... Now go away. Attribute: Thunder/Stun Dragon: Poor Fire: Great Thunder: Negated Water: Normal 2nd Party: KO: No Poison: Yes, Normal Hold Sleep: Yes, Short Hold Stun: Yes, Short Hold Misc: -Khezu is lame. -Khezu is blind. -ONE element does anything to it and it resists all 2nd party elements... -God, I hate Khezu... -Do to a lot of emails, I'm going to explain WHY I don't like Khezu. -He's slow -His attacks barely do anything, even in + form. -He's gun fodder. -His eyes are on his wings. ====================================Monoblos==================================== Monoblos, like Diablos has no element. Meaning, stress HIGH defense when you run into him... Offline.... During his quest... In which he appears.... Yeah, it does SUCK that Monoblos is offline only. He's like Diablos, except for the amped super-mega-frenzy mode. (Ala 4 red dots on skull) Like Diablos, Poison hurts him something fierce, so don't be afraid to use it... Attribute: WHAT ATTRIBUTE? HE LEFT HIS HOME! (... None) Dragon: Normal Fire: Good Thunder: Good Water: Excellent 2nd Party: KO: Yes, Normal Hold Poison: Yes, Long Hold Sleep: Yes, Normal Hold Stun: Yes, Normal Hold Misc: -Monoblos takes more damage than Diablos does to water element. -Monoblos is very vulnerable to Poison, stun and sleep elements. -Sonics/well timed crags pop him out of the ground too. =====================================Plesioth=================================== Plesioth is obviously water based and being of the larger wyverns, packs a major punch. Attribute: Water/Sleep Dragon: Poor Fire: Great Thunder: Excellent Water: Negated 2nd Party: KO: No Poison: Yes, Normal Hold Sleep: Yes, Short Hold Stun: Yes, Short Hold Misc: -Sonic bombs fish him out. -Flashes don't work. -Frogs can be used to fish him out. -I've killed Plesioth with a Frog before X3. -You can Kill, Poison, stun, and put Plesioth to sleep, while its under water. =====================================Rathalos=================================== Oh, the emails I'm going to get about this one. I can see it now.... "Akubarix, Rathalos is REALLY HURT by Thunder/Water elements, his armor says so." Yes, well sit down and drink bleach little Timmy, because hours of testing say otherwise. Not saying to leave T/W elements home, but don't think they deal "ZOMG! LEET|" damage because your BLADE MASTER armor tells you that....Rathalos, obviously negates Fire, so don't bring it to this fight. Attribute: Fire/Poison Dragon: Excellent Fire: Negated Thunder: Good Water: Good 2nd Party: KO: Yes, Long Hold Poison: Yes, Normal Hold Sleep: Yes, Normal Hold Stun: Yes, Normal Hold Misc: -Rathalos flies more than any other wyvern. -Flash bombs knock Rathalos out of the air, if timed right. -Rathalos' claw attack is leathal; Poison and Knock Out in ONE attack. -Rathalos flees back to area 5 when its weak enough to kill. -Rathalos will NOT attack you while it flees back to area 5. -Rathalos rarely sleeps when you're in the same area, unless it doesn't notice you. -Rathalos has the most Misc data on this Faq. ===================================Rathian====================================== OH SNAP! FEMALE RATHALOS! SHE IS HEWT! Well techinically, she is.. Like Rathalos, she's fire/poison based and she won't back down. Remember one thing when fighting Rathian... BACK FLIP, BACK FLIP, BACK FLIP. She also takes more water damage than Rathalos does, interesting eh? Attribute: Fire/Poison Dragon: Excellent Fire: Negated Thunder: Good Water: Great 2nd Party: KO: Yes, Long Hold Poison: Yes, Short Hold Sleep: Yes, Normal Hold Stun: Yes, Normal Hold Misc: -Her back-flip has caused more deaths than ANY single attack of all the wyverns combined. -Rathian acts like Rathalos when weak. -Rathian rarely flies away. -Rathian's back flip ends in a stomp, so don't stand under her. -Rathian makes awesome cookies. ==================================Yian Kut Ku=================================== If I had to put money on which wyvern the others gather around and call "NOOB!" I'd beat it'd be Kut Ku. Kut Ku has crappy defenses and even the elements he resists, kick the crap out of it. Believe it or not, he was the hardest to get accurate elemental data on, because I kept killing it before I could make any definate note... I got some Giant Beaks though, so its win/win for everyone. Attribute: Fire Dragon: Poor Fire: Good Thunder: Great Water: Excellent 2nd Party: KO: Yes, Short Hold Poison: Yes, Short Hold Sleep: Yes, Short Hold Stun: Yes, Misc: -Kut Ku has his own 'status effect' "daze". (Use a bomb or sonic on him) -Kut Ku gets laughed at by mosswine. -Kut Ku is gewd for making money. -Kut Ku takes a beating from the 2nd party status elements, so have fun. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 5. Dragon Elemental Status xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx No, I'm not redoing Dragon Element, I'm talking about the only 2 "true" dragons in the game; Fatalis and Lao. Obviously, Lao's A LOT easier to test on. I did my best with Fatalis, so do me a favor don't talk. ====================================Fatalis===================================== The Legendary Black Dragon has returned.... Do you have the balls to take him on without using Clusters? I doubt it... Attribute: Dragon/Fire Dragon: Normal Fire: Normal Thunder: Poor Water: Poor 2nd Party: KO: No Poison: Yes, Short Hold Sleep: Yes, Normal Hold Stun: Yes, Short Hold Misc: -Fatalis has 2 "offensive" attributes, instead of just one and a 2nd party. -Fatalis can instant kill someone in Dragon and Aururos Armor. -You can repeat a single round, and it won't affect Fatalis. -If you're meleeing Fatalis, post round 1 the whole time. This prevents Fatalis from flying to area 2. =================================Lao Shan Lung================================== Lao is well, the biggest boss in all of MHG. Not only does Lao *rarely* attack, but he's really slow.... Not much I can say about Lao, without turning this into a Lao Shan Faq... Attribute: Dragon Dragon: Great Fire: Normal Thunder: Normal Water: Poor 2nd Party: KO: No Poison: No Sleep: No Stun: No Misc: -Lao is the only monster in the game that can't be poisoned. -Lao is a Dragon, yet Dragon element deals the most damage to him. -Lao's spines can be blown off. -Lao can give more than ONE Plate per lao. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 6. Drome Elemental Status xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx This is a little section for the "raptor dromes". Not much to say here folks. Like my dual faq, I put Cephadrome in the wyvern section for a reason. He's a wyvern. More than he is a drome. Drome appear as little pink dots on the map. Wyverns have the "dragon icon". ===================================Gendrome===================================== Attribute: Stun Dragon: Normal Fire: Good Thunder: Excellent Water: Good 2nd Party: KO: Yes, Short Hold Poison: Yes, Normal Hold Sleep: Yes, Short Hold Stun: Yes, Short Hold Misc: -You can stun these stupid things. -They're the coolest of the 3 boss raptors. -Any attack they use, can stun you. -...Did anyone notice that you can stun them? ===================================Iodrome====================================== Attribute: Poison Dragon: Negated Fire: Poor Thunder: Normal Water: Excellent 2nd Party: KO: Yes, Short Hold Poison: Yes, Short Hold Sleep: Yes, Short Hold Stun: Yes, Short Hold Misc: -I hate Iodrome. -They can only poison you with their 'spit'. -Good source of Poison Sacs. -... You can effectively Poison them... =================================Velocidrome==================================== Attribute: Water (big surprize there) Dragon: Excellent Fire: Normal Thunder: Good Water: Poor 2nd Party: KO: Yes, Normal Hold Poison: Yes, Long Hold Sleep: Yes, Short Hold Stun: Yes, Normal Hold Misc: -These are the only way to get Velocidrome Claws. -Yes, people actually didn't know this. -God I hate people. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 7. Kirin xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Yep, Kirin gets his own section, see below. ================================Wait... What?=================================== Yes. I'm fully aware of how many people are going to be ranting about how Kirin is a "drome". My reply: "MY ASS HE IS!" First off, there are no 'minions' below Kirin. "But what about Kelbi?" Kelbis don't fire lightning bolts at you. Nor are they an opaque White-silver color. Kelbi is unique, people need to face this fact before opening their mouths. The below information is 100% acurate. Don't email me about "FIRE PWNING KELBIDROME" or you'll be thusly ignored.... As for the elements, I know their right. You're going to whine "but Dead Revolver and Dragon Breaker Pwn it". Yes, you also forget about the massive attack behind them. Let alone the fact that hammers throw Kirin around like a rag doll. =====================================Kirin====================================== Kirin is event only. Not only that, he's one of the most... Confusing creatures you'll ever fight in MH. Does that make him "hard"? For the new guy in training, or someone who's NEVER ran into one, yes. Attribute: Thunder/Stun Dragon: Negated Fire: Negated Thunder: Negated Water: Negated 2nd Party: KO: No Poison: Yes, Short Sleep: Yes, Normal Stun: No Misc: -Kirin Negates all elements, something no other monster can do. -Kirin is again; event only. -Hammers and Lances throw Kirin around. -Kirin is found in the Swamp, [EVENT ONLY]. -Kirin+ is found in the Jungle, [EVENT ONLY]. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 8.
