The section code column includes a code for quickly jumping to a section in the guide. Just type
'CTRL + F' on your keyboard, and enter the code for the section you want to go to. It will save
you a lot of time searching through the guide. When you type in the code, include the number
signs (#). Also, to prevent more than two instances of each code in the guide, I includ a hyphen
(-) in the middle of the code, if I have to reference a certain section within the guide. When
you search for a section, do not include the hypen.

|=====| Introduction | #INTROS# |==================================================================|
+--------------+----------+

Hello, and welcome to my guide for the game Kingdom Hearts. This guide is for the United States
release, and is not for the Final Mix version of the game, as that was released in Japan only. I
haven't played any other version of the game, so I don't know if this guide will work for other
ones, though you may try it out.

I hope that this guide will be an ultimate reference for anyone that is using the guide while
they play the game. It includes a step-by-step, beginning-to-end walkthrough, and will have many
lists, including the items, weapons, and enemies in the game. Help on minigames and many other
things will be found in this guide, also. I provide as much information as I can on each section
and add more as I find it.

Though this game was released back in 2002, I have yet to complete it. The farthest I've gotten
in the game is when you first enter the whale, Monstro. So, I'll partly be learning about the
game as I write this. I hope that this doesn't turn you away from reading this guide, thinking
that my lack of experience with the game will lower the quality of the guide. I will still go as
in-depth as I can. One of the reasons that I've decided to write this guide is because of me not
beating the game.

This guide will contain spoilers, however, so if you haven't beaten the game yourself, and don't
want to have the story ruined, there are three things you can do. You can use another guide that
has no spoilers, you can play through the game once, by yourself, and get all the storry then,
or you can just use the guide along with where you are in the game, and not read too far ahead
in the guide. If you don't care about spoilers, then read however far ahead you want.

All information in this guide was found by me, using only personal gameplay and the game manual,
which is the little booklet that comes inside the game case. I did not use any other guide or an
official strategy guide of any kind. The only other type of resource I used, besides the two I
mentioned, are from reader emails. If I got information from an email, I will credit the person
that gave me the information. But, for the most part, I found all of the information.

Again, I hope this guide will be the ultimate reference for you while you play the game, and
that any and all information you need for the game will be found here. Thank you so much for
using this guide to help you out. I hope you enjoy reading it. ~Julian Duane (Neolai)

|----------| What's Not In This Guide? | #WINITG# | |
+---------------------------+----------+

Though this guide has a lot of information, there are some things that I have not, and probably
will not, include. Things that I felt unnecessary or completely useless. Here is a list:

Final Mix Information - I live in the United States and don't read Japanese. So, I am unable to
provide information on the Final Mix version of this game. Not only was
the game not released in my area, but if I shipped it in overseas, the
language in the game, which is Japanese only, would prevent me from
getting any information. You'll have to look in another guide for FM
information.

Other KH Games - This guide is for the original Kingdom Hearts game, not any others. So, don't
look for information on other games in the series in this guide, as you won't
find any. This includes Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II.

Cheats/Codes - I'm a gamer that doesn't use cheats or codes. This includes button-press codes,
like 'Hold R1 and press Up Down Left Right,' and game-modifying ones, like those
from the use of a Game Shark. Hints and Tips will be in this guide, but cheats
and codes won't. You'll have to look somewhere else. If I ever to hear of cheats
somewhere, I sometimes test them out to see if they work, and then I'll submit
them to a game's "Cheats/Codes" section on a website if they do. But, other then
that, you'll never see any information from me on cheats and codes.

+---------------------+----------+
|----------| Guide Abbreviations | #GABBRS# | |
+---------------------+----------+

Throughout this guide, I will use various abbreviations to save time and space. Here's a list:

AP - Ability Points - Points needed to equip a character's abilities
Combo - Combination - A group, or chain, of attacks
Def - Defense - The higher this is, the less damage an attack does to you
Exp/EXP - Experience - You need a certain amount of these points to level up
FF - Final Fantasy - Another series of games that has some characters in this game
FM - Final Mix - A version of this game released only in Japan that has some bonus things
HP - Health Points - A number that determines how much damange you can take
HUD - Heads Up Display - The command menu and health bars that are almost always on screen
KH - Kindom Hearts - Referring to the game and the whole series
LV/Lvl - Level - The higher this is, the higher your base stats are
MP - Magic Points - A number that determines how much magic you can use
Str - Strength - The higher this is, the more damage you do to an enemy with each attack

+-------------+----------+
|=====| Game Basics | #GMSICS# |===================================================================|
+-------------+----------+

In this game, you control a young boy named Sora. Through most of the game, you will have two
other characters in your group, or party. The goal of the game is to go from world to world and
to lock each world's keyhole. There are sidequests and minigames you can do, also.

+-----------+----------+
|----------| The Story | #TSTORY# | |
+-----------+----------+

Taken from the game manual:

The Destiny Islands are a beautiful paradise where children's laughter abounds. Day after day,
Sora, Riku, and Kairi talk and dream of new places, new worlds beyond their islands. They
ponder the usual questions that adolescents do - about the world outside, about their own
existence. Little do they know a great desinty awaits them. One stormy night, a terrible
invades the Destiny Islands.

Thus does their journey begin...

Sora awakens in another world, in a place called Traverse Town. His hopes of seeing new worlds
are realized, but his friends Riku and Kairi are nowhere in sight.

Meanwhile, Donald and Goofy have also arrived in Traverse Town. They have come from Disney
Castle in search of a "key" and its owner. Their king, who has mysteriously disappeared, has
left them a cryptic message.

"Now, there's somebody with a 'key' - the key to our survival... We need that key."

What is happening to this world?

The "somebody" mentioned by the missing king turns out to be Sora. To find Kairi and Riku, Sora
joins Donald and Goofy and embarks on an epic journey.

the game and where you select either 'New Game' or 'Load.'*

+----------+----------+
|----------| Game HUD | #IGHUDS# | |
+----------+----------+

The game's HUD, or heads-up-display, is very important and helpful to gameplay. It displays your
HP and MP, and your charge gauge. It also displays your party's HP and MP. And it displays the
command menu.

Your HP gauge displays how much HP you have. The more green there is, the more damage you can
take. If the green ever completely disappears, you'll die, and have to start over from either
your last save or from the area you died in.

Your MP gauge displays how many magic spells you can use. The more blue you have, the more magic
you can use. If you have no blue left, you won't be able to cast anymore spells or summons. The
charge gauge is the little orange bar that runs along the top of your magic gauge. When this bar
gets to a certain point, you will get more MP. Some weaker spells can still be used, even if you
don't have MP left, as they take from the charge gauge first. Stronger spells, however, will
only be able to be used if you have MP, as they don't take from the charge gauge.

In the upper right of the HUD are usually two icons showing pictures of the other two members of
your party. You can see how much HP and MP they have left by looking here. The command menu will
be explained in the section below.

+-------+----------+
|----------| Menus | #TMENSS# | |
+-------+----------+

The Main Menu - The main menu is the first menu you see when you put the disc in your PS2, and
it loads it. It's all white, with Sora and the KH logo pictured in the back.
there are two options. 'New Game' and 'Load.' New Game will start you on a new
journey, while Load will continue a previous game from your last save.

The Death Menu - If, at any time, Sora runs out of HP, a menu screen will appear. You can choose
'Continue' to resume the game from the area that Sora died, or 'Load Game' to
load a different game file from its last save.

The Command Menu - This menu is found at the bottom left of your HUD. It will change, depending
on what's going on around you. If the menu is blue, you're in, what I call,
"Peaceful Mode." In Peaceful Mode, you can access the start menu by pressing
the start button and use exploration commands from the command menu. If the
menu is red, you're in "Combat Mode." In this mode, pressing the start menu
will pause the game instead of opening the start menu, and you can use combat
commands from the command menu, instead of exploration ones. Examine commands
include 'Talk' and 'Open,' while combat commands include 'Attack' and special
abilities, such as 'Strike Raid.' You can use 'Magic' and 'Items' commands in
both modes.

+------------+----------+
| | Start Menu | #STRTMN# | |
+------------+----------+

The Start Menu is accessed by pressing the start button when you are in peaceful mode. By going
here, you have access to a variety of submenus, including items, equipment, and abilities.

Items - In this menu, you can use and equip items to your party. If you go to the 'Stock'
section of this menu, you can see all of the items your party has, excluding the ones
equipped to members. Each party member has slots that you can put items in. These slots
are for using shortcut items. In battle, when you can't access the start menu to use an
item, you can go to the item slot on the command menu and use one of the items that you
have put in your own slots in the start menu. Each member can use only the items in
their own slots, and not the ones in other part members' slots. You are the only one
that is able to use items in the stock items.

Equipment - This is where you go to change your weapons and accessories. Each party member can
have only one weapon, but can have multiple accessories.

Abilities - This menu is for assigning abilities to you and your other party members. Each
character has an AP limit, and you can't equip more abilities once this limit is
reached. You can remove other abilities to make room for new ones, and there are
some shared abilities that affect all members of the active party.

Customize - This menu is used for changing how often your party members do a certain type of
attack or use a certain type of item. You go here to change your magic shortcuts.

Status - This menu displays each party members' status and attributes. You can view HP, MP, and
AP limits. You can see your strength and defense levels, and your overall level. You
can see your total experience points, along with how many you need to advance to the
next level. You can also see which accessories, items, and weapons each party member
has attached to them.

Journal - Throughout your journey, Jiminy Cricket will record everything that happens, that you
see, most things that are important, and some unimportant things. I'll be making a
section showing all of the entries in the journal, and add to it as I get new ones.

Config - This is where you go to change your game settings. You can set your lock-on settings,
your camera settings, vibration and sound settings, and the game's difficulty level.

+-----------+----------+
|----------| Exploring | #EXPLRG# | |
+-----------+----------+

Exploring the worlds of Kingdom Hearts is a big part of the game. You can find useful items and
weapons, and you can learn new things by talking to people or examining signs or boards.

To help you explore, you can use the target lock feature in the game. Just click R1, and you'll
lock onto items in the game, such as treasure chests or people. If you don't lock onto anything,
then there isn't anything worth exploring in your area. When you're locked onto something, 'Lock
On!' will appear in the upper left of your HUD and will stay there for as long as you're locked.

Depending on your settings, Sora will auto-lock onto whatever is closest to him. This lock will
switch around when Sora moves, or anything around him moves. Using the R1 lock will prevent your
target from switching, and makes it much less likely that you lose track of what you're locked
onto. You can cycle targets by clicking the L2 and R2 buttons while you're locked on.

+----------+----------+
|----------| Fighting | #FGHTNG# | |
+----------+----------+

Fighting is another important aspect of the game. You have to kill enemies in order to level up
and get through the storyline. Some enemies will even drop items after you kill them. Battling
in this game is not turn-based. It's real-time, so don't get too distracted in the middle of a
fight, or you could end up losing.

Health - When you're in a battle, you and your party members will most likely take damange, and
maybe even get knocked out. Your party members' health bars will slowly replenish, if
they're not still being attacked. If they're ever knocked out, they'll also be revived
automatically, after awhile. If you're killed in battle, however, you'll have to start
over. Stepping on a save point will heal your, and your party members', HP and MP, and
bring any knocked out characters back to life.

Targeting - You can target enemies the same way you target other things if you were exploring.
In battle, targeting an enemy will help a lot, as you won't lose track of your enemy
as much as if you weren't locked on. if you're in a group of enemies, you should try
using only the auto-lock feature, as you don't want an enemy coming up behind you
and attacking you while you're trying to kill the enemy you're targeting.

Items and Magic - While in battle, you can use shortcut items and magic that you have set in the
Customize submenu of the start menu. Selecting the items menu in the command
menu will bring up a list of the items you can use, and holding the L1 button
will bring up the magic shortcut menu. Clicking either the triangle, square,
or X button while holding the L1 will cast the assigned spell. You can also go
to the magic menu in the command menu to open the list of all of the spells
you know, and cast one from there.

Combo Attacks - Combo attacks are chains of attacks, such as the basic three-hit combo. Combos
are used by pressing the attack button a certain amount of times in a row, such
as pressing it three times for the three hitter. There are ground, air, and
special combos. Ground and aerial combos are self-explanatory. Sora is on the
ground for a ground combo, and in the air for an aerial. Special combos are done
in the middle of a special ability combo, such as Strike Raid. You just have to
watch the top slot of the command menu, and click the X button as soon as it
changes.

Tech Points - Tech points are basically experience points, though a very small amount, that you
can earn in the middle of a battle. One tech point is equal to one exp. point. So,
it isn't much, but it can add up. Especially at the beginning of the game. Most of
the time, it isn't very difficult to earn a tech point, either. These tech points
give you experience in the middle of the battle, so you don't even have to kill
the enemy to get experience, though you should, as you'll get a good amount of EXP
from it.

Winning A Battle - After you beat an enemy, you'll get various rewards. You will always gain EXP
to level up. Some enemies will drop munny, the game's currency, and even some
valuable and useful items. Most enemies will drop HP balls, which heal you,
and charge balls, which fill up your charge gauge, and eventually give you MP
for magic. Munny is the golden balls, HP balls are the green ones, and charge
balls (MP balls) are the bubble-type balls. The size of these three things
determines how much of a reward you get from it. The bigger, the better.

+--------+----------+
|----------| Saving | #HTSAVE# | |
+--------+----------+

There is only one way to save the game. Save points. Throughout the game, you will encounter two
different types. Both type will completely heal your party, both types will allow you to change
the characters in your party if you're in the right type of world, both types will allow you to
go to the game's main menu, and both types will, of course, allow you to save.

One type of save point, like the one in the shack on Destiny Islands, will allow you to teleport
to your gummi ship (after you get to that point in the game) and it won't disappear. These are
the ones with the solid green base on the floor.

The other type of save points are the ones without a visible base on the ground, and have some
floating green orb-like things circling around each other. These ones can, and probably will,
disappear, and they won't allow you to go to your gummi ship.

+------------+----------+
|----------| Gummi Ship | #GMSHIP# | |
+------------+----------+

Gummi Ships are what you use to travel from world to world. They are made of gummi blocks, which
are found all over the game, and come in many different types. Whenever you go from one world to
another, you have to go through a flight minigame, in which you control your ship and shoot the
heartless gummi ships.

Whenever you leave a world, you come to the world selection screen. This is where you choose the
next world you want to go to. You also have access to the Gummi Garage from here. When you're at
the world selection screen, use the left stick to move your ship to a new world, and click X at
the world you want to go to. Clicking triangle will show you a better view of the world, and the
circle button will cancel selections.

The flight screen is the next screen you'll see, in which you're behind the ship and viewing the
area in front of and around you. Here, aim the reticle at an enemy and shoot them down. Items
will be dropped that you have to fly over to collect. This is how you get many of the gummi
blocks in the game. Don't fly into obstacles or enemies, or you'll take damage. At the bottom
right of the HUD is your ship's gauges. The power gauge is the blue one, and is depleted by
using certain things, such as lasers. The armour gauge is the green one, and is depleted when
you take damage. If it runs out, you will start over at the world selection screen.

When you get through the flight screen, and make it to a new world, you'll be taken to the
land point selection screen. Some worlds have more than one area that you can start off at when
you land the ship, so you can choose which point to appear. The first time you go to any world,
you'll only get to go to one point. As you get to more save points and use them, you'll unlock
more landing points.

When you're in the world selection screen, you can access the Gummi Garage by hitting the square
button. In the Gummi Garage, you can build your own ship, choose which ship you want to fly, and
see which gummi blocks you have.

> > > Main Walkthrough #WLKTHR# < < <
==================================================================================================
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So now we come to the main section of the entire guide. This will have a step-by-step, in-depth
explanation of how to beat the game, from its beginning to its end.

A quick bonus. Here's the script of the video that plays if you're inactive for maybe thirty
seconds on the main menu:

Thinking of you, wherever you are.
We pray for our sorrows to end, and hope that our hearts will blend.
Now I will step forward to realize this wish.
And who knows?
Starting a new journey may not be so hard, or maybe it has already begun.
There are many worlds, but they share the same sky -
One sky, one destiny.

+-------------+----------+
| | My Settings | #MSETTS# | |
+-------------+----------+

Throughout the game, these are the settings I'll be using. I won't change them at any point in
the game, so they'll stay exactly the same.

Game Difficulty Level is 'Expert'
Vibration Setting is 'On'
Auto Target is 'On' and Target Lock is 'Auto'
Camera is 'Auto' and Sound is 'Stereo'

*NOTE - When you start a new game, you'll only be able to set the vibration and difficulty
settings. To change the other settings, you'll have to wait until you can access the
Config submenu of the start menu.*

+------------------+----------+
|=====| Opening Tutorial | #KHWTOT# |==============================================================|
+------------------+----------+ My Level: 01

When you first start the game, you'll see the Squaresoft logo followed by the words 'Kingdom
Hearts' in front of a cloudy background. Then, you'll see a close-up of Sora's face. From this
point to where you first get control of Sora is the opening video. The song is a remix of Hikaru
Utada's song "Simple and Clean." The platform you're standing on when you're in control has some
characters from Disney's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" movie. The various platforms in this
part of the game are all painted in ways like this. This part of the game will show you basic
controls and movements of the game, and you'll be able to choose what your base stats are.

Snow White Platform
When you're first able to control Sora, walk forward to the center of the platform. Three bases
will come up out of the ground. One is holding a sword, one a shield, and one a wand. The sword
represents the strength statistic, the shield is defense, and the wand is magic. You must
choose two of these items to determine your beginning base stats. The first choice will raise
your stat, and the second will lower. The item you don't choose will stay the same. For my
choices, I chose the sword and sacrificed the shield.

Cinderella Platform
When you get onto this platform, you'll get whatever your first choice was in your hands. So,
if you picked a sword, you'll have a sword in your hands. Now just click the X button once.
After that, a group of five or so heartless will appear. You need to attack them, but only one.
Usually, don't lock on to a specific enemy if you're in a group, but you should this time, to
move on quicker. Lock on, and kill one of them. When you do that, a new group will appear. This
time, you have to kill them all, so don't use the lock on feature.

Pink Platform
Walk up to the door in front of you and examine it. When the treasure chest appears, walk up to
it and open it. Then, a crate will appear. First, push it in any direction. Then smash it with
a three hit combo. It will drop a potion that you'll automatically pick up. After the barrel
appears, do another three hitter on it, and then examine the door again.

Destiny Islands Platform
Now, you're in Destiny Islands, the first 'real' world of the game. Sadly, you're still in the
tutorial, and you're limited to the small area with the three people in it. You may notice that
the three characters are from the FF series, if you've played those games. You have to talk to
each of them, in whatever order, and answer their questions. Each question has three options as
an answer. Choose whichever you want, as I'm not sure what this does to the game. I'm working
finding out, however. If it matters, I chose 'Getting Old,' 'Friendship,' and 'To See Rare
Sights.'

Sleeping Beauty Platform
Walk towards the middle of the platform, and heartless will appear. Attack and defeat the whole
group. When the save point appears, use it. You'll be fully healed, and you'll save yourself if
you end up dying. This part of the game is boring and suckish, so I'd rather not have to do it
again. Use the stairs that appear and go up to the next platform. Don't worry about falling.

Beauty and the Beast Platform
When you get to the platform, you'll automatically walk to the middle. Your shadow will turn to
a giant heartless. Here comes your first, however easy, boss battle. His name probably comes
from the saying 'Everyone has a dark side.'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
+----+ ==============
|-|BOSS|=== Darkside === =#DRKSDE#= |
+----+ ============== = My Level: 02 =

Darkside is definitely one of the easiest bosses in the game. In this fight, he has two attacks.
The first is a Heartless Spawner. He slams his fist into the ground, and about five heartless
spawn from the black hole around his fist. You don't need to attack these heartless. His second
attack is a Missile Launcher. He will lean slightly backward with his arms spread open, and some
homing missiles shoot out of his chest.

In both of his attacks, his hands are exposed. This is a good thing, as they're two of three
ways you can damage him. Just lock on to either of his hands, and attack them every chance you
get. The third way you can damage him is by attacking his head. To do this, you have to climb up
his arm. The easiest time to do this is when he's doing the Heartless Spawner attack, and his
fist is on the ground. Every time you hit his head, you'll get a tech point, too. If you can't
get the hang of this, just attack his hands. It takes the same amount of damage, you just don't
get the extra experience. You can make up for it on Destiny Islands. You'll most likely level up
no matter how many or few tech points you got, so don't worry about it.

Lastly, if you need some health, you can attack the heartless he spawns from his Heartless
Spawner attack. When they die, they'll drop HP balls, and you'll also get an experience point.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After you beat Darkside, you'll get another cutscene. In this one, Sora will be drug into the
darkness. After it, you'll see another cutscene, but this time, you're in a new area.

+-----------------+----------+
|=====| Destiny Islands | #KHWTDI# |===============================================================|
+-----------------+----------+ My Level: 03

In the first cutscene, you start with Sora and Kairi talking about Sora's 'dream' about the last
part of the game. They start to talk about Kairi's home world, and going to other worlds. Riku
then comes in and talks about building a raft to do this. Then you see the Destiny Islands logo.

When you're in control again, talk to Kairi. Tell her that you weren't paying attention, so she
can tell you the list of items that you need to get. You need to logs, a cloth, and a rope. Now,
turn around and walk underneath the bridge to your right. Walk onto the log you see, then turn
left, towards the ocean. Walk and swim around to the back side of the plateau that should be to
your left. Climb the ladder in the back and walk onto the log that is right next to the top. Now
move to the bridge and fall off of it to the left, if you're facing towards the shack. Walk to
the dock that Selphie is sitting on, and jump onto it. Walk up the ramp at the end of the dock,
and walk up the stairs that are near the ramp. Turn to the right of the stairs and follow the
the path to the ladder, which you must climb. Keep following the balcony up there, and go in the
hollowed out tree, and walk up to the white cloth on the right wall of the tree. Now, leave the
three and jump over the rail right outside of the door. Go back to the stairs near the dock, and
climb the ladder near the base of them. Follow this area until you get to where Tidus is. In one
of the corners up here, you'll see rop. Walk onto it, and you now have all of the items.

Now you're supposed to talk to Kairi to give her the items, but there are a couple of things you
might want to do first. First of all, there is a save point inside of the Seaside Shack on the
island that you can use. I recommend you do, just in case something happens. Second, there are a
couple of 'just for fun' fights that you can do. You'll get experience points for winning one,
and beating Riku will get you a free potion. You can fight Tidus, Wakka, Selphie, and Riku. If
you beat each of the first three, you can talk to Tidus and do a three-on-one fight. I have some
strategies for each person listed below, sorted by my opinion on their difficulty.

|-SIDE-|----------- |
|-BOSS-|---Tidus--- |
|------|----------- |

Right when the battle starts, lock on to Tidus. During the fight, he'll chase you around a lot.
When he's chasing you, just quickly turn around and attack him with a three hit combo. Then back
away from him, as he'll retaliate. He'll do a special flip attack that will do quite a bit of
damage if it hits. All you have to do is keep walking around, the entire match. He'll rarely hit
you if you do this. It's easy to get tech points in this battle. To do it, just attack at the
exact same time as he does. You'll parry the blow, temporarily stun him, and leave him open to a
three hit combo.

|-SIDE-|----------- |
|-BOSS-|---Wakka--- |
|------|----------- |

Wakka is a range attacker, though he'll still attack you physically if you get too close. He'll
throw a ball at you, which is normally very easy to dodge. Just keep moving in an arc around him
while you slowly get close to him. When you're close enough, do a three hit combo, then back off
before he recovers. He'll occasionally do a special attack, in which he jumps in the air then
throws the bar very hard and fast at you. It does more damage than his normail attack, but you
can still dodge it just as easily, as long as you don't stop moving. To get tech points, you can
hit his throws back at him. Time your swing right, and you'll hit the ball and get a tech point.
You can even hit him with his own ball, for damage and stunning. When he's stunned, you can move
in and get a three hitter. Back off though, because your attacks unstun him, and he'll retaliate
at the end of your combo.

|-SIDE-|------------- |
|-BOSS-|---Selphie--- |
|------|------------- |

Selphie uses a jump rope to attack you. It has a far reach, so it can be difficult trying to get
close enough to hit her. You can jump to her, and start a combo while you're in the air above
her. You can also parry her jumprope with an attack of your own, then quickly move in for an
attack before she recovers. Sometimes, when she's attacking, she'll hurt herself and sit on the
ground. While she's doing this, you can get close to her and do a three hit combo. After that,
back away so she can't counterattack. Her special attack is when she repeatedly swings her jump
rope around her head, and chases you around the field. If you attack at the right time, you can
parry her attack and stun her, then get another three hitter.

|-SIDE-|---------- |
|-BOSS-|---Riku--- |
|------|---------- |

Riku is a lot easier than you think, as long as you don't get caught by his recovery attack. He
jumps around a lot, but if you're locked onto him, it won't be too much of a problem. For every
three or four hits, he'll be knocked down to the ground. Get away from the direction his feet
are facing, or you'll lose half of your health. He'll fling himself at you to recover from his
fall. You can easily get out of the way of this recovery if you aren't doing the last hit of a
three hit combo. If you did a three hit combo, and he got knocked down, you won't be able to get
out of the way. The reason for this is that Sora's last hit in a three hitter takes longer than
the first two hits do. He'll taunt you a lot in the game, but don't bother trying to attack when
he is. He's constantly guarding himself, so you won't do any damage, and you'll be vulnerable.
You can also parry his normal attacks if you attack at the same time, for a tech point. Also, do
not fall off of the plateau. If you do, the match will be over, and you'll lose. If you win the
match, however, you'll get a potion. You can get more potions if you win more battles with him.

|-SIDE-|------------------------------- |
|-BOSS-|---Tidus, Wakka, and Selphie--- |
|------|------------------------------- |

When you first start out the match, the three are surrounding you, with Tidus directly in front
of you. Unfortunately, I was unable to beat them, so I don't have much of a strategy. Sometime,
I'll go back to this point in the game and try again, then write down my strategy.

Whenever you're ready to continue the game, go talk to Kairi. You'll giver her the items and get
a Hi-Potion in return. When she asks, tell her that the day is over. You'll get a couple of
cutscenes, and resume play at the dock. Go to where Kairi was standing earlier, and go through
the door to the other side of the island. Talk to Riku, and he'll ask you about the raft's name.
Whatever you choose will be your first Gummi Ship's name. You'll then have to race him over who
gets to name it.

When the race starts, walk off the ledge to the right, instead of going along the wooden path
that Riku takes. Walk straight ahead through the water, without going deep enough in the water
that you start to swim. Walk up the stairs in front of you, then keep going straight, off of the
ledge at the top of the stairs. Now walk along the right side of the raft, and up the hill in
front of you. Jump across the platforms to the left, and touch the star. Do not go in the hole.
Turn around, and fall off of the ledge to the ground at the base of the trees. Walk through the
trees, being careful not to start climbing one, and back track the way you came. At the end,
jump up to the platform that Kairi is one. The first one to touch the star, and then touch this
platform wins. If you win, you'll get a Pretty Stone, which sells for 30 munny. You can race as
many times as you want, and get a Pretty Stone for every win.

Now that you're done with that, you can go get a free Protect Chain. Go to the stairs that you
climbed during the race, and lift up the crate next to them. Turn to the left of the stairs, and
throw it close enough to the hole in the wall in front of you. Jump onto the crate, then in the
wall. Open the chest for the chain. You can equip it by clicking start and going to 'Equipment.'

Now go to the raft and talk to Kairi to get a new list of items you need to get. Two coconuts, a
bottle of water, three mushrooms, three fish, and a seagull egg. For the coconuts, just turn to
Kairi's right, and attack any of the trees. You need to knock down two yellow coconuts and pick
them up. Each tree will drop either two or three coconuts, though some are brown. The brown ones
won't work, however. Now, go back near the raft, and look for a boulder in front of a hole in a
wall. Push the boulder out of the way, and pick up the mushroom in the hole. A second mushroom
is found near the wooden tower on the raised land at the top of the stairs you took during the
race. Between the hole that the Protect Chain was, and the wooden tower. It's alongside the wall
next to the tower. For the last item on this side of the island, you have to go down to the area
at the foot of the stairs, into the water. Walk below the big wooden path that Riku takes at the
beginning of the race, and look at the wall. You should see water coming out of it at a certain
spot. Walk up to the water to get the bottle of water. You have to go to the other side of the
island to get the rest of the items. I recommend taking the door, not the cave.

When you get to the other side of the island, go out to the ocean and look for three individual
fish swimming around, one in each spot, three spots total. Just swim on top of the fish to pick
it up. When you get all three, go to the raised area by the upper door of the shack. There are
three trees there. Climb up the skinny one, with you back facing the one closest to the dock. Go
the the top, and jump backwards onto the tree behind you. You should land on the egg and pick it
up. For the last item, go down to the roof of the shack, and jump of into the pool of water that
the waterfall is going to. Walk across it, into the door of the Secret Place. Follow along the
path, and look for the mushroom in the open space. After you pick it up, you'll get a couple of
cutscenes. When the cutscenes are over, leave the area, and go inside of the shack and save.
Then go back to the other side of the island and talk to Kairi. She'll talk about the necklace
that she's making, and give you a Hi-Potion. Tell her that the cutscene is over, and you'll get
a bunch of cutscenes.

When you resume play, you'll be at the dock. Go back to where the secret place, and walk up to
the white door that you see. Then turn around and go to the plateau, where you could fight Riku.
Ignore the heartless, as you can't damage them with your wooden sword. When you get to the
plateau, and you'll get another cutscene in which you get the Keyblade. Now go back to the white
door, killing as many shadows as you want along the way. You can kill enough to level up, if you
want to. When you get to the door, open it, and walk to the end of the tunnel for a cutscene. At
the end of the cutscene, you'll have to fight and beat Darkside again. The only difference that
I noticed between the two fights is that, if you lose this one, you have to start over, and that
Darkside has more health in this fight. He may have a new attack, but you can kill him before he
has a chance to use it, as long as you're quick enough. Based on his other attacks, I wouldn't
worry too much about any third attack, as it probably won't be very strong, if there is one.
After you beat him, you'll get some more cutscenes and the Traverse Town logo.

+---------------+----------+
|=====| Traverse Town | #KHWTTT# |=================================================================|
+---------------+----------+ My Level: 07

When you resume control, follow the alleyway and turn left at the end of the building to your
left. When you get to the front of that building, you'll get a quick scene showing the main area
of this district, the subdivisions of this world. Go into the building behind you, the Accessory
Shop. You'll get a cutscene involving Cid, another character from the FF series. Afterwards, use
the save point inside.

After you save, talk to Cid again, and look at the items he sells. When you get munny, you can
buy some of them. You already have a Protect Chain, but you don't have any of the other items.
Anyway, if you look at the blue cabinet to Cid's right, on the wall behind him, you can see a
treasure chest on top of it. Jump onto the cabinet and open the chest to get a Mythril Shard.
Now leave the shop, and explore this district. This one is called the First District. There are
two others, but don't go to either of the other two just yet. There are about six people in this
area that you can talk to, and maybe learn something from. If you go down to the main square,
the place at the bottom of the stairs in front of Cid's shop, and go right to the Cafe and Bar,
you'll see a treasure chest. Don't forget about it, as it's locked now and you can't open it. As
you advance through the game, however, it may become unlocked. Also, directly left of the stairs
is a pillar-type things that says 'mail' on it. There are ten postcards in this world that, if
you put them in this mailbox, you'll get an item. For example, you can get two postcards in this
district right now. One is on the roof of Cid's shop, and one is in the Item Shop, which has two
doors. One is near the Cafe and Bar, and the other is near the door to Cid's Shop. Later on,
I'll add a section telling how to get the postcards, but you'll have to figure it out on your
own for now. If you go into the item shop, you'll see that it is owned by three familiar ducks.
Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Talk to the one sitting on the counter to buy items. Though the list of
items is small right now, it'll grow as you play through the game. Whenever you're ready, go to
the Second District by going through the door behind Cid's shop, and behind where the fat guy
and the white creature are standing.

When you first enter the Second District, you'll have to fight some shadows. Throughout the rest
of the areas in the game, you'll have to fight shadows. In the Second District, there are doors
to the Third District, the Dalmatian's House, the Alleyway, the Hotel, and the Gizmo Shop. You
don't want to go through any of these just yet, as there are a couple of items you can get. If
you stand by the door to the First District, and face away from it, you can see a blue wall on
the other side of the area. Go that direction. There's a platform between the alleys to the
Third District and the Dalmatian's House. Jump onto it, then jump to the ledge along the blue
wall. Do a 'swing jump' around to the ledge above the chest, and a bit to its right. Then fall
down to the ledge that the chest is on, and open it for a Mega-Potion. You can also find another
postcard in this area.

Whenever you're ready, go down to the lower part of the district, and go near the fountain. Go
through the door that leads to the alleyway. When you get into the alley, turn left at the door,
then left again, down the alleyway. Next to the two crates and a barrel is a treasure chest with
a potion inside of it. No leave the small alley and go down the main alley. Jump onto the red
roof that is lower, and jump onto the balconies above it. Go to the far left balcony, the one on
the opposite side of the main alley from the chest, and you'll see another chest with another
potion. Jump down from here, into the other small alley. At the end of this alley, go through
the door to the Dalmatian's House. Walk through all of the rooms here, until you get to the one
with the two parent dalmatians. When you get to this one, you'll be told about the missing 99
dalmatian puppies. After you find so many, you'll get a gift from the parents. If you find them
all, you'll get maybe ten gifts total. Now leave the house, back to the Second Distric.

In the Second District, go up to the area above the door to the Alleyway, and follow along it,
moving away from the First District's door, and enter the door to the Gizmo Shop. In here, you
will have to fight many waves of shadows, starting with only one. You may have to use a potion
or two in this group of fights. After you beat them all, and no more respawn, go out the other
door. When you get through the door, there's a ladder to the left. You can't climb it now, but
you'll have to come back eventually. Instead, just drop of the edge to your right, and go to the
door to the Third District. When you get there, walk around the entire district and kill all of
the heartless. When you're sure that you've killed them all, you can examine a couple of the
things here, though you don't need to. Whenever you're ready to continue, make your way all the
way back to the First District.

When you get to this district, do the same thing as you did in the third. Walk around the whole
area, killing off all of the heartless. There is a group right when you enter the district, two
or three in the pathways around Cid's shop, and two or three down in the main area. When you've
killed all of the heartless, go into Cid's shop, talk to him, then use the save. Now you may be
asking yourself why you bothered going around the entire world, killing all of those shadows. It
may seem completely pointless, but it was probably to get you used to the combat system of the
game. This next battle you'll be doing will be tough compared to the whimpy shadows. Whenever
you're ready, leave the shop, and don't let your guard down.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
+----+ ==========
|-|BOSS|=== LEON === =#SLEONH#= |
+----+ ========== = My Level: 08 =

Leon is the hardest fight you've had so far in the game. He's much more skilled than the simple
shadows, Darkside, and even Riku. The fight itself isn't optional. You have to do it to progress
through the storyline. But you don't have to win. The only benefit of winning is that you get a
lot of experience points.

When you first start out the fight, lock on to Leon right away. Then, move down the stairs into
the open area of the district. Leon will jump around every once in a while, and he has an attack
that shoots out a fireball. He takes a couple of seconds to charge it, then it shoots at you. It
isn't hard to avoid, however. It doesn't home in on you, so you only have to walk a bit, and it
won't hit you.

His normal attacks, when he swings his sword around, will take about half your health. He has a
longer reach than you do, so you have to hit him when he's distracted. The best way to do this
is to wait for him to jump at you. If you get far enough back from him, he'll jump towards you,
and basically on top of you. Sometimes it takes him two, and even three, jumps to get to you. He
will occasionally jump at a lamp pole, and won't be able to pass it. You just have to move a bit
so he can get a better angle at you.

For the entire battle, I try to avoid getting too close to him, until he jumps on top of me. He
has a short recovery time after landing a jump, so you get a chance to attack him. Do not do a
three hit combo, because he can sometimes retaliate before you get a chance to back away. If you
have some potions at hand, and are full health, you can do a three hitter and take his hit back,
if he does one. Sometimes he jumps backward at the end of your three hitter. So, after two hits,
back away. Repeat this until you win.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whether you win or lose, you'll get a series of cutscenes after the fight. When you have control
again, use the save in the room that you're in. Then talk to Yuffie. She'll tell you about the
Keyblade's ability to unlock doors. If you tried the treasure chest in the room before, you were
not able to open it. Well you can now, and it has an Elixir. When you want to continue the story
just talk to Leon and tell him that you're ready. You'll get another cutscene, and meet a new
heartless enemy. The Shadow Soldier.

When you're out in the alley, and Leon runs ahead, go the opposite way as him if you want some
extra experience. If you're fine without the extra exp, just follow his direction, which is to
the Second District. Then walk through this area, to the door to the Third District. You'll get
a cutscene in the Third District, where you meet your first two party members. Donald and Goofy.
Fight off the small troop of Shadow Soldiers, then get ready to fight another boss.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
+----+ ==================
|-|BOSS|=== Guard Armour === =#GRDAMR#= |
+----+ ================== = My Level: 09 =

This boss has five individual parts that you have to destroy. Two feet, two hands, and a torso.
The torso must be the last part you destroy, though the other four can be destroyed in any way
and order that you want. Each limb will drop a bunch of HP balls after it is destroyed. The arms
have less health then the legs, and they also do less damage. You are able to counter all of the
boss's attacks with a well timed attack of your own. You'll get two tech points for each parry,
and the group of parts you blocked will be stunned for a bit.

The first two limbs you should get rid of are the legs. They tend to do a lot more damage than
the arms do. However, if you ever need health, or are having trouble keeping your health up, you
can attack the arms first, to get some HP balls. The legs' attacks are basically stomping on you
and following you around the field. They take about half your health, so try to avoid or counter
the attacks as best as you can. Donald and Goofy will heal you sometimes if they have items or
magic to. The arms' attacks are basically either spinning around the torso quickly, or following
you around, trying to punch you.

Whichever limbs you defeat first, you have to defeat the other pair, also. When you destroy all
four limbs, you only have the torso left. The torso attacks by rapidly spinning. At first, it's
stationary, but it'll eventually follow you around. You can run away from it fast enough, so you
will have to either take the hit, or parry it with an attack of your own. If you do the latter,
the torso will be stunned for a little, so you can get a quick combo.

Remember that you have two other party members now. If you lock onto one limb, you can click the
triangle button, and your two members will attack the target. Now you can lock onto a different
limb and attack that one. Neither Donald nor Goofy are very strong at this point, and they will
both probably be knocked out quite a few times during the fight, but they will come back to life
after a certain amount of time. You should only worry about keeping yourself healed. They won't
always heal you, as they only have a couple of potions, and they'll eventually run out of magic.

When you win the battle, you'll get the Brave Warrior accessory. Equip it as soon as you can.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now that you have that boss beaten, you'll get a couple of cutscenes. You'll also get quite a
few rewards. You'll get 100 munny and an Elixir from Leon, Yuffie, and Aerith. You'll be able to
use the Gummi Ship now. You'll learn your first magic spell, fire, and get an ability, dodge
roll, from Donald and Goofy. The fire spell shoots a fire ball out of your Keyblade, and can use
the charge gauge. The Dodge Roll ability will allow you to roll by pressing the square button,
when it's equipped. You don't need to be in a battle to use either of these. You'll also have a
new start menu item. The Journal. Jiminy Cricket will record nearly everything that happens in
your journey here. You'll also notice that Donald and Goofy's icons are in the upper right of
your HUD. You can keep track of their HP and MP by looking here, and heal them if you need to.

So. Now you're done with Traverse Town. It's time to move on to the next world. But before you
do, there are some things you should do. One, if you go near the gate that goes out of the town,
you'll notice a blue mark on the floor to the left of the door. If you walk up to it, Goofy will
ask what it is (It doesn't have to be this mark. Whatever the first mark you walk to, this will
happen). This is a Trinity Mark. Basically, these marks are telling you that there is a special
thing you can do, if you have Donald and Goofy in your party, and have the colour unlocked. For
now, you can only do blue Trinities. Just stand near these, and press 'Trinity' at the bottom of
your command menu. The Blue Trinities are jumping ones. This particular one brings out a bunch
of munny. There is another one near the Cafe and Bar.

When you're done with the trinities, go talk to Yuffie, Leon, and Aerith in the Cafe and Bar.
You won't learn much, except that Leon is very worried about the 99 Dalmatians. There are two
new areas that you can unlock now, also. If you go to the Third District, and go to the door by
the keyhole, you'll be able to open it now. Just examine the keyhole, and the door will click
open. Now you can easily get to the First District from the Third.

Now go to the door with the fire emblem, and lock on to it. Cast your fire spell, and the door
will be unlocked. Go through it, and jump across the rock platforms to the island with the house
on it. Go through the door on the left, labeled 'Empty Room,' and you'll get some cutscenes. The
room will be transformed, and a Save Point and Blue Trinity will appear. Use both of them. Now,
if you talk to Merlin, you'll be able to practice magic, though you only have the fire spell.
When you get other spells, you can come back and practice with them, too. The practicing is very
pointless in my opinion, but you can give it a shot if you want. You can leave the building, now
called 'Magician's Study,' and go to the Second District.

If you go into the hotel here, and to the red room, there is a chest with a Pretty Stone in it.
Not much, but it's 30 more munny that you can spend after you sell it. Now go back to the First
District and get ready to spend your munny.

First, the Item Shop, which is the one run by the three ducks. Talk to the one sitting on the
counter, and buy some of the items. I try to have ten potions, and a couple of Ethers. Only buy
a Tent if you have a lot of extra money. At this point in the game, Tents aren't very important.
Make sure you save some munny for Cid's, too. He still only has the same six items, but you do
have two new party members, that have no equipment.

Right now, you don't need to worry too much about giving Goofy an accessory. He'll be fine. You
should already have the Protect Chain you got in the Destiny Islands equipped, so buy one for
Donald. If you buy a magic accessory, make it the fire one, and give it to yourself. Don't worry
about the Ability Stud right now.

Now that you're done with all that, you can get ready to leave. The fireplace in Cid's shop can
be lit. Just lock on to it and cast your fire spell. You don't get anything for doing this. Now
you can go through the start menu. Customize your party's held items, make sure your accessories
are in order, and set up abilities and magic shortcuts. One important thing you should do is to
change Donald's and Goofy's fighting styles. Make them fit your own needs. Remember that you do
have a limited amount of items and that they have a limited amount of health and magic when you
change the styles.

When you're all ready, use the save in the room. Now you can leave the world. Either teleport to
the ship from the save menu, or walk through the main gate.

| | What's Going On? | #WGOIRL# | |
+------------------+----------+

Alright. This section isn't to tell you what I'm doing with my life. It's to tell about things
that may be affecting my ability to update this guide, a bit about what I want to do with this
guide, and some information on other guides I am or will be writing.

Update Frequency:
I'll keep this short and simple. I'll work on the guide at least one day each week.
From December 23 to January 3, I will be able to work on the guide a lot more, because of my
school's Christmas Vacation. It's short, but my family doesn't do anything for Christmas, so I
will have time to do it. The weekends are usually the times I'll be able to work on the guide,
but usually not both days, as I enjoy using at least one of them to hang out with my friends.
I do this guide thing as a hobby. If ever I decide to completely abandon this project, I'll try
to notify all of you in the guide, in some way. Unless I die or something else serious like
that, I don't see myself just quitting.

Guide Updates And Future:
I'm playing the game as I write the guide, and I've never beaten the game before. So, I don't
know everything about the game, nor am I able to do everything in the game. And just because I
don't have something in the guide now doesn't mean I won't ever have it in. I may not have been
able to do it, such as the three on one battle on the Destiny Islands, and will go back and
keep trying. I may not have been allowed to do it because of lack of abilities or magic or some
other in-game thing, such as not getting all of the postcards in the first journey through
Traverse Town. Just be patient, and I'm sure I'll get everything in the guide.
I'm hoping to get Version 1.0 up before the end of December. Everything under 'High Priority'
in the 'Future Updates' subsection of 'Version History' is what I want in the guide in Version
1.0. Maybe not finished, but at least started. Some of the things in 'Medium Priority' are what
I want started before Version 1.5. The 'Low Priority' items don't have a set version to be put
in the guide. Whenever I feel like is the best way to put it for those.

Other Guides:
Even though I'm not even close to being done with this guide, I'm already thinking about other
guides that I'm going to do. I enjoy writing them, so I'll keep doing it. I will definitely be
writing one for Kingdom Hearts II. I'm into these games at the moment, so I'll take advantage
of that. A game called 'Steambot Chronicles' is really interesting to me, too. I haven't ever
completed the full game, but I've played enough of it to know the basics, and I enjoy the game,
so I'm thinking about writing I guide for it, too. My last planned-ish guide is for a PC game
that some, if not many, of you have probably heard of. MineCraft. It's a sandbox game that,
even though it has no specific goal or really any point, is very fun. I don't understand why I
enjoy it so much, but I do. I get random moments of boredom with it, however, so any guide for
it would probably have random gaps of no updates. I'm not even sure what I could put in a guide
for the game, but I guess I'll try. Maybe.
Out of these three, the first one I'm most likely to start is Steambot Chronicles. I don't want
to get too far into KH2 without even beating this guide's game. I've beaten the second one, but
I'd rather beat the first one before I get too into the second one again. The second one is way
better than the first, so I'd rather finish most of this guide. MineCraft isn't a game that I
could write a guide for very well. There are some things, but not too much. Which is why I'd
probably start a guide for it last.
