There are a Grand Total of 286 Precursor Orbs in Jak 2. Mirror World reverses everything in the game, for example if something is to your left, in Mirror World it will be on your right. Big Head and Small Head Mode do what their names imply, making Jak�s head big and small respectively. Scrap Books show drawings of the characters and different areas. Scene Players allow you to view any cutscenes from a particular part of the game. You can also unlock extra gun courses for the Peace Maker and Vulcan Barrel. As for the Reverse Races, basically you can go around the tracks the other way. Level Select is exactly what its name suggests. You get to start a new game from any mission. Unlimited Ammo allows you to continue shooting even after your ammo runs out. Unlimited Dark Jak lets you keep using Dark Jak. Note: If you run out of Dark Eco, you will change back, but you will be able to change back immediately. Invulnerability makes you invincible. However, you can still die if you fall off a cliff, or get blown up while you are in a turret. If you fall off a high cliff and land on a platform, you can still lose one piece of health. The last secret is Hero Mode, which allows you to start a new game with all of the gun mods. Hero Mode is much harder than normal mode and Metal Heads always drop their gems. The Scrap Books, Scene Player, Level Select, and Hero Mode can all be accessed on the Secrets menu on the Title Screen. Now, with all that being said, happy egg hunting. Mission Areas Prison Fortress (8 total) 1) In the cell block, the orb is at the end of the platform to the left of the crates. 2) In the next room, the orb is on top of a shelf. 3) The next orb is on top of the computer console next to the second Krimzon Guard. 4) The next orb is in the first pit you have to roll jump over. 5) An orb is behind a console in the section you are shot at from below. 6) After smashing through the first floor grate, an orb is behind the pillar to your right. 7) In the waste disposal room an orb is in the water near the KG crates. 8) In the same room, an orb is in a high alcove near the crates to the left. _________________________________________________________________________ Dead Town (8 total) 9) Head northwest over the water, and an orb is in the entrance to an alcove. 10) The next orb is in the room. 11) Another orb is in a room further along. 12) Another orb is in the same room. 13) Another orb is in the same room. 14) An orb is in the entrance to the same room. 15) On top of a ledge near the first block you need to push with the Titan Suit. 16) On top of a ledge near the third block you need to push with the Titan Suit. _________________________________________________________________________ Pumping Station (7 total) 17) An orb is between the large and small pipes near the moving pillars. 18) Another orb is in the water to the left of the pillars. 19) To the right of the pillars, there is an orb in a large pipe. 20) Drop down from the pipe and stay near the wall by the water. The orb is on a ledge. 21) To the right of the bridge near the water tank Sig blows up is another orb. 22) An orb is in a small pool to the right of a bridge in the west. 23) The next orb is on a ledge near the base of a windmill to the southeast. _________________________________________________________________________ Sewers (1 total) 24) Go up the stairs near the statue of Mar, drop off the ledge, and the orb is to your left. _________________________________________________________________________ Strip Mine (7 total) 25) An the behind the northernmost of the large posts supporting the ore trolleys. 26) An orb is behind a post at the top of the first conveyor belt to the elevated platform. 27) There is an orb behind the room where you first find Vin. 28) There is an orb near a quarter pipe in the south. 29) An orb is in the west corner of the mine. 30) An orb is behind a quarter pipe at the top of the mine. 31) On a stone ledge near some boxes and pipes at the top of the mine. _________________________________________________________________________ Drill Platform (5 total) 32) In a corner of the bottom of the first elevator platform is an orb. 33) There is an orb at a corner behind some KG crates after the first Metal Head Shield Soldier. 34) An orb is in a corner behind the first flame grill. 35) At the bottom of the second elevator platform, an orb is behind some barrels. 36) The last orb is in a corner of the bottom of the third elevator platform. _________________________________________________________________________ Mountain Temple (17 total) 37) Next to a Metal Head Shield Soldier on the way to the Precursor Shard. 38) On the ledge above the Shield Soldier, behind the tree to the left. 39) On a ledge directly south of the Precursor Shard. 40) On a ledge directly south of the Precursor Shard. 41) On a ledge directly south of the Precursor Shard. 42) An orb is under a small rock archway on the ledge opposite the last one. 43) Further along is another orb. 44) Further along is another orb. 45) Further along is another orb. 46) Further along, just before the dark eco pool, is another orb. 47) Cross the dark eco pool, and an orb is on the ledge to your left (jetboard required). 48) Further along is another orb. 49) Keep going, and before the dark eco pool is yet another orb. 50) Cross the dark eco pool, and go to the northeast corner of the pool (relative to the screen) where another orb is. 51) After fighting the Metal Head Bull, an orb is behind a tree on the path to the Precursor Gear. 52) An orb is in the second pool of water on the way to the Precursor Lens. 53) The last orb is in the pool of water directly next to the Precursor Lens. _________________________________________________________________________ Palace Tower (4 total) 54) Right behind you when come up the elevator is an orb on top of a pipe. 55) An orb is right in front of the electric floor behind the first turret. 56) There is an orb on top of some collapsing platforms. 57) The last orb is next to the elevator after you beat Praxis. _________________________________________________________________________ Haven Forest (9 total) 58) Close to the base of the waterfall in the first section is an orb. 59) There is an orb below the stairs to the raised section where you defend Samos. 60) Follow the river in the first section to the large pool in the east, and close to the entrance to the pool is an orb. 61) In the pool, near the ramp leading to the north. 62) In the far east side of the pool, an orb is near a metal support pole. 63) Another orb is in the southeast corner of the pool. 64) In the southeast of the pool, under a grindable log is an orb. 65) An orb is in the center of the pool. 66) The last orb is in the southwest corner of the pool. _________________________________________________________________________ Dig Site (8 total) 67) The first orb is on a ledge near a lava fall. 68) An orb is in the center of the northeast area, on a low ledge. 69) An orb is above some metal frame boxes in the far north of the northeast area. 70) Another orb is to the right of the pipe before the balloon swing. 71) On a stone platform below the platform to get to the swing is an orb. 72) Jump off the pillar you raised into an cave. At the end of the cave is an orb. 73) An orb is on the stone platform to the right of the last rotating spiky platform. 74) An orb is near the scaffolding near the Lurker Totem. _________________________________________________________________________ Tomb of Mar (5 total) 75) On the right side of the entrance is an orb. 76) On the left side of the entrance is an orb. 77) In the first section of the First Test of Manhood with the spiked platforms, an orb is in an alcove above the entrance. 78) An orb is behind the right pillar on the south wall in the main room. 79) An orb is behind the left pillar on the south wall in the main room. _________________________________________________________________________ Weapons Lab (5 total) 80) Before you go down the elevator, an orb is in one of the corners of the platform. 81) After destroying the first wave of rolling KG bots, and crossing the bridge twice, there is an orb behind some barrels. 82) After the first wave of KG bots, an orb is at the top of a conveyor belt. 83) Before the second wave of KG bots, search the corners of the machinery near the ground for another orb. 84) There is an orb near the second screw switch. _________________________________________________________________________ Under Port (1 total) 85) While you�re in the Titan Suit and briefly come out of the water, when you jump back in the water, look behind you to find an orb. _________________________________________________________________________ Construction Site (2 total) 86) An orb is under the entrance ramp. 87) The second orb is near the Piercer Bomb where the Precursor Stone was. _________________________________________________________________________ Metal Head Nest (7 total) 88) On top of the stone ledge at the beginning of the area is the first orb. 89) An orb is behind the Weapon of Mar. 90) Another orb is behind the Weapon of Mar. 91) Another orb is behind the Weapon of Mar. 92) On top of a stone tower near the Weapon of Mar is an orb. 93) On a ledge, at the southernmost point, is another orb. 94) On the turret of a destroyed tank, near the tower, is the very last orb. -------------------------------------------- Total: 94 Precursor Orbs Underground Missions Around the city, there are screens with question marks on them. As you progress through the game, some of them occasionally change into a green Underground symbol, on a purple background. If you go up to one and press Triangle to talk to them, you get an Underground mission. If you successfully complete a mission, you are rewarded with three Precursor Orbs. On the map, the missions show up as a green-yellow symbol that looks like a triangle with dot over it. There are three kinds of missions; Ring Challenges, Scavenger Hunts, and random Special Missions. _________________________________________________________________________ Ring Challenges (3 total) A ring challenge is a race of sorts. You have to go through purple rings before you run out of time. If you do run out of time, you fail the mission. Kind of like the blue and purple Precursor Ring Challenges in the prequel. Every time you hit a ring you have a certain amount of time to get to the next ring. Ring Challenge 1 This challenge appears after you find the valve at the Pumping Station. It is located in the middle of the road connecting the two sections of the slums. The path runs south, around the small building in the center of the road, and heads back north. Ring Challenge 2 This one appears after you catch the scouts in Haven Forest, and is found at the screen to the left of the Hip Hog Saloon. This race runs north past the statue of Mar, past the palace, through the Eastern Bazaar, and north through the Industrial sector. In the section of the race situated in the Eastern Bazaar, you have to use the jetboard. When you get to the Industrial sector, get back onto a zoomer to make things easy. Ring Challenge 3 This appears after you get the Life Seed at Dead Town. You find this one at the same place as Ring Challenge 1. Be careful not to blow up your vehicle or start the alarm, or you will be slowed down a lot, as most of the rings are in the opposite lane of traffic. When you get to the Industrial sector, you have to be good at hopping with a zoomer to get over a lot of the gaps. _________________________________________________________________________ Scavenger Hunts (15 total) In a scavenger hunt, you are shown an image of an orb somewhere in the city. You are allotted a certain amount of time and if you can find it within the time limit you get 3 Precursor Orbs. There is one cheat that works occasionally. If you pick up the orb a split second after the timer hits zero, you will fail the challenge but get 3 Precursor Orbs allowing a possible total of 289+ orbs. Scavenger Hunt 1 The first orb find is located east of the Fortress and appears after you beat the Scatter Gun Course. The orb is in the trench that runs west to east to the right of where the screen is. Scavenger Hunt 2 This is located under a ramp in the west section of the Industrial area, and appears after you protect Sig at the pumping station. Go up the ramp, take a left, take the next right, and take the next left. Go straight and you will find the orb. Scavenger Hunt 3 This challenge is located in the far eastern side of the port, at the base of the bridge leading to a tower, and is revealed after you beat the Blaster Gun Course. The orb is near one of the Baron�s loudspeakers right before the Yellow Security Wall at the central exit of the port. Scavenger Hunt 4 The one is in the water slums, near the Pumping Station. This shows up after you find the Pumping Station Patrol. The orb is directly below the bridge you are standing on, in the water. A quick and simple task. Scavenger Hunt 5 The screen for this challenge is in the Southern Gardens, near the path to the Port. It shows up after you kill the Metal Head Scouts in Haven Forest. The orb is located behind a pile of boulders opposite the Yakow paddock. Use a zoomer to get there before time runs out. Scavenger Hunt 6 This one is found at the south of the Eastern Bazaar, west of Onin�s tent. The challenge shows up after you intercept the tanker. The orb is in the northwest of the square below the tanker. Use the jetboard to get to the spot. Scavenger Hunt 7 Found in the northeast of the Northern Gardens is another challenge, that shows up after you kill 30 camouflage Metal Heads in Haven Forest. The orb is near a water turret near the Haven Forest exit. Try to have a zoomer ready. The time limit is cramped (you have 12 or so seconds), so try to pick up the orb while in the zoomer. Scavenger Hunt 8 This challenge is located near the exit into the industrial area from the eastern bazaar and appears after you destroy the Baron�s transport ship at the Drill Platform. This orb is found right next to the screen for mission 11. Use a zoomer and go up the raised road. There should be a little side exit to the left. Exit and turn into Dark Jak (or if you have it, Dark Giant) and punch your way to the orb. Scavenger Hunt 9 This screen is northeast of the smaller tunnel the canal flows through. You can play this challenge after you win the Class 3 Race. The orb is close to the bridge nearest the stadium. Use the jetboard to get to it. An easy challenge. Scavenger Hunt 10 The challenge is to the south of the Stadium, at the south of the North Town District, and is playable after you race Erol to the Stadium. The orb is on the small ramp leading to the elevator to the Palace Tower. Use a zoomer to get there before the timer hits zero. Scavenger Hunt 11 This one is found in the southeast of the industrial sector, and you can try the challenge after you race Erol to the Stadium. Go up the ramp on a zoomer and jump to the left. Jump out of the zoomer. The orb is in the corner. Do you need to be good at hopping on a zoomer to get this one? Not necessarily. If you aren�t, jump out of the zoomer at the height of your jump. Your momentum should get you to the other walkway. Walk to the orb in the corner. Scavenger Hunt 12 Another challenge is found in the south of the Western Bazaar, and reveals itself after you protect Samos from the Krimzon Guards in Haven Forest. The Western Bazaar is divided into squares. The orb is in the bottom left corner of the square one left and two up from your square. Note that you cannot try this mission until after you finish Special Missions 2 & 3. Scavenger Hunt 13 Near the Green Security Wall in the Slums area is another challenge, activated when you win Class 1 Race. The orb is northwest of the canal to the Stadium. Enter the North Town District and when you enter the first big area, enter with a sharp turn close to the edge of the last set of buildings to your right. Go straight and the orb is waiting for you. Scavenger Hunt 14 This one is on the path north of the palace, and is revealed after you beat the game. The orb is near the torch to the left of the entrance to the Tomb of Mar. You will have to fly full speed at the torch and bail out at the last second. Your momentum will take you the torch, and you just have to pick up the orb. Scavenger Hunt 15 The last scavenger hunt. Finally. You people have no idea how boring writing a walkthrough is. Anyway, you can find the screen in the southwest section of the North Town District. Follow the canal, and the orb is on a ramp next to the second corner you come to. _________________________________________________________________________ Special Missions (9 total) Special Missions are random missions where you are given a certain task. If you can complete it, you get 3 Precursor Orbs. Special Mission 1 This screen is located near the first bridge spanning over the smaller tunnel the canal runs through. This is activated after you win the Jetboard Challenge Keira gives you. You need to collect 20 Green Homing Beacons in less than 2 minutes. There is plenty of time, and in a zoomer you should be able to collect them all with 10 or 20 seconds on the clock. Note that some are high above the water. Special Mission 2 This is located in the south of the Western Bazaar, and you can play it after you find the three Precursor Artifacts in the Mountain Temple. You need to get to the Underground Hideout from where you are in less than 90 seconds. Go up the Western Bazaar, around the Palace, through the road over the Eastern Bazaar, through the Industrial section, and into the Slums. Very tricky, but once you get the hang of it, it shouldn't be hard. Special Mission 3 This one is at the same place as Special #2, and you can play it after you rescue 3 Lurkers for Brutter. This challenge is exactly like the mission where you Shuttle Underground Fighters for Torn. As long as you don't sustain too much damage, this should be as easy as pie. Special Mission 4 The screen is found to the north of the section of the North Town District directly north of the Palace. After you destroy the 5 Hellcat Cruisers, this mission becomes available. Your task is to gather 50 Green Eco sparks (like the ones in the prequel). If you have Invulnerability, use the Jetboard throughout the mission. If not, go on foot and use the Jetboard whenever possible. However, the mission is bugged. For some reason, the Green Eco sparks take some time to be absorbed. And if that wasn't odd enough, half of the Green Eco sparks don't even show up on the map. Conveniently, the eco is always on the edge of walkways. Special Mission 5 At the south of the Western Bazaar, this screen appears after you rescue another 6 Lurkers for Brutter. This is another Blast Bot mission, this time much easier. The Blast Bots are simply terrorizing the city and not attacking a certain place, so there is no time. The strategy I used was to get on a zoomer, fly towards the Blast Bot, bail out at the last second, and shoot it to death with the Vulcan. Repeat for the other two Blast Bots, and you will be rewarded with 3 Precursor Orbs. Special Mission 6 In the northeast area of the Northern Gardens is yet another challenge, one that appears after you have defeated Metal Kor at the Metal Head Nest. Try not to have Dark Jak at this point. If you do have Dark Jak, use it up. If you have unlocked Unlimited Dark Jak, turn it off. This mission is exactly like the Green Eco mission. This time you need to collect 30 Dark Eco Sparks. As long as you do not have Dark Jak, the sparks will be attracted to you. Use the Jetboard, look at the map to find the Dark Eco Sparks, and you should finish with approximately 20 seconds to spare. Special Mission 7 The screen is at the dead end road to the left of the main exit out of the Stadium sector, and appears after you complete Keira's Jetboard Challenge. This screen allows you to replay any of the Stadium events and the Reverse Races. Special Mission 8 This one is to the left of the Hip Hog Saloon, now owned by Daxter, and is available after you race Erol to the Stadium. See under City Race. Special Mission 9 This last one is found at the same place as Scavenger Hunt 3. After you win the Class 1 Race, see under Port Race. Gun Courses Including the Scatter Gun Course and Blaster Gun Course, there are two other gun courses you can unlock in the Secrets menu, the Vulcan Barrel Gun Course, and the Peace Maker Gun Course. In each gun course, you can win a gold, silver, or bronze medal. For each medal you earn, you get three Precursor Orbs. The amount of Precursor Orbs you can win for each course is 9. If you get Bronze, you will have three Orbs. If you get Silver, you will have six Orbs. And if you win Gold, you will accumulate nine Orbs total. To get the points to earn the medals, you need to shoot targets. There are 5 kinds of targets. 1. Regular. Regular targets take one hit to kill, and the quicker you kill them, the more points you get. 2. Tough. Tough targets take two hits to kill, and the quicker you kill them, the more points you get. 3. Strong. Strong targets can only be destroyed by the Peace Maker. 4. Golden. Golden targets take one hit, but give you more points. If you shoot certain targets in a certain amount of time, these show up. 5. Civilian. Civilian targets are to be avoided altogether. If you hit them, you lose points. Scatter Gun Course Gold 12000 Silver 10000 Bronze 8000 This course requires practice. I would aim for Gold after you get the Scatter upgrade and Unlimited Ammo cheat. Blaster Gun Course Gold 13000 Silver 11000 Bronze 9000 This course has a secret to it. Just keep doing the 360 Aerial Rapid Fire move(X+O+R1) and you will automatically aim at the targets and not the civilians. Try to have the ammo upgrade. Vulcan Barrel Gun Course Gold 15000 Silver 13000 Bronze 11000 You should do this course after you have the Unlimited Ammo cheat. Once you have Unlimited Ammo, well, let her rip. If not, try to shoot in small bursts, and save ammunition for the final leg of the course, because a lot of Golden targets appear for a short amount of time. Peace Maker Gun Course Gold 15000 Silver 13000 Bronze 11000 The secret to the Peace Maker course is to try to take out as many targets as possible in each shot. The sheer power emanating from the Peace Maker allows you to achieve the Gold record very easily. Jetboard Course The Jetboard challenge initially given to you by Keira is still available through Special Mission 7. You can return to the course and obtain up to nine Precursor Orbs. Gold 120000 Silver 90000 Bronze 50000 To get Silver and Bronze, you need to get as much airtime as possible and put together all those tricks for 7000+ point combos. As for Gold, all I can say is, Button Bash! Stadium Races Class 1 Race Gold 2:13:00 Silver 2:18:00 Bronze 2:22:00 There are two shortcuts you need to take advantage of every lap, one right at the beginning and another near the end. If you use these every lap, you have a chance at winning Gold. Class 2 Race Gold 2:10:00 Silver 2:15:00 Bronze 2:20:00 The Class 2 Race has one shortcut in the tunnel section. Don't take it, or you will probably be damaged. In this race you need to rely on turbos more than shortcuts. Class 3 Race Gold 2:19:00 Silver 2:24:00 Bronze 2:29:00 The Class 3 Race also has a shortcut at the tunnel section. Hop, pull the left analog stick back and use a turbo to get over the pit. Note that some of the other racers will attempt this as well. Some will die, but for safety reasons, try to be far ahead when you make the jump. Use this every lap, but be careful. Reverse Races Class 1 Reverse Gold 2:20:00 Silver 2:25:00 Bronze 2:30:00 This one is the only reverse track that has shortcuts. Use them well and use many turbos. No other advice here, as I haven't done these myself. Class 2 Reverse Gold 2:25:00 Silver 2:30:00 Bronze 2:35:00 This is much harder, there are no shortcuts and you need to take every turn perfectly. Class 3 Reverse Gold 2:48:00 Silver 2:53:00 Bronze 2:58:00 You just need skill. This is, undeniably, the hardest reverse race. Haven City Races City Race Gold 2:07:00 Silver 2:12:00 Bronze 2:17:00 The City Race is the same race as when you race Erol to the Stadium, except that your opponent is much tougher. You have to hit all of the rings, and make it within the time limit to get the Precursor Orbs. Port Race Gold 2:12:00 Silver 2:17:00 Bronze 2:22:00 The Port Race is much easier. You don't need to get all of the accelerator rings and the opponent is not to be seen for the duration of the race. However, you can fail if you fall into the water. Getting Gold should be a breeze. Onin Game You can get 3 Precursor Orb by returning and getting 1000 points in the Onin Game. To get this high score, you should try to make combos by clearing all of one symbol. Tips After you have beaten the game, some of the areas require special entrances to get to. To get to the area of the Prison Fortress where you first go through, you need to work your way through the Fortress like when you saved your friends at the Fortress. To get to the Strip Mine, you need to go through the warp gate in the cell block room in the Fortress. To get to the Dig Site and Weapons Factory, you need to go to the Pumping Station. In the north area, there is a rail to a small island and another rail to a passageway. Follow the path to the landing site, where you can go back to Haven City, go to the Dig Site, or go to the Weapons Factory. The only area you can�t access after you defeat Metal Kor is the Metal Head Nest, so you need to get all 7 orbs the first time through. Cheats There is one cheat that occasionally works. If you pick up the orb a split second after the timer hits zero, you will fail the challenge but get 3 Precursor Orbs allowing a possible total of 289+ orbs.
