This guide will list every single location of every single chest in the
PS2 game God of War. This is basically a complete walkthrough of the
game with respect to the chests. As such, it will describe every
area of the game as the game progresses which is technically a spoiler
for those of you that haven't finished the game yet. I'll try to keep
it to a minimum, so whether this is your first time through or a repeat
attempt, use this guide to grab every chest the game has to offer.

     /-
0####|=================> The View
     \-

In this guide, I'll refer to chest locations in one of the three following
ways:

-- Plain View : These are chest that are in your face and can't be missed.

-- Obstructed View : These are chests that are in places such that the camera
angle doesn't divulge their location unless you step into the right spot.
Since the camera angle is fixed, it is possible to continue forward in the
game so that the camera angle never turns to show you the chest you just
walked past.

-- Hidden : These are chest that are hidden. You have to do something
special to find these such as break a wall, open a door, do a special jump,
etc.

     /-
0####|=================> The Types
     \-

There are 5 types of chests in the game. Each chest is opened by standing
in front of it and Holding down the R2 shoulder button.

-- Green : These offer Health Orbs needed to replenish your Health Bar.

-- Blue : These offer Magic Orbs needed to replenish your Magic Bar.

-- Red : These offer Red Orbs (Experience) needed for upgrading your weapons
   and magic.

-- Combo : These Combo Chests continually change between Green & Blue.
Depending on what you want/need from the chest, wait for the desired
color to be displayed and then grab the chest with R2. This locks the
chest to that color until you either open it or let go.

-- Unlit : These chests contain either Gorgon Eyes, Phoenix Feathers, Muse
   Keys, or Red Orbs.

In several locations, there are multiple chests, so the listing for such a
case will be in the form of the following:

"Plain View : (3) Combo & Magic & Red Orbs"

This means that in that particular location there are three chests
available out in the open in plain sight. One of the chests will be a
Combo (Health/Magic) Chest, one will be a Magic (Blue Orbs) Chest, and
the final will be a Chest containing Red Orbs.

Note: If you max out everything you have (Blades of Chaos, Blade of Artemis,
all Magic Spells), then the game stops giving you Red Orb chests and
replaces them all with Blue chests.

     /-
0####|=================> Eyes, Feathers, and Muse Keys
     \-

-- Gorgon Eyes

There is a total of 18 Gorgon Eyes to be found. Every time you collect 6
of them, you get an upgrade to your Health Bar. With a total of 18
available, you can get a total of 3 Health upgrades via the Gorgon Eyes.

There are MORE than 18 chances to get the Gorgon Eyes. If you miss one,
a later chest will hold a Gorgon Eye. This guide lists the earliest
possible locations of all the Gorgon Eyes. By getting them early,
the later chests will hold Red Orbs instead of a missed Gorgon Eye.

This guide shows you how to get all 18 Gorgon Eyes during the Temple of the
Oracle Chapter.

-- Phoenix Feathers

There is a total of 18 Phoenix Feathers to be found. Every time you collect
6 of them, you get an upgrade to your Magic Bar. With a total of 18
available, you can get a total of 3 Magic upgrades via the Phoenix Feathers.

There are MORE than 18 chances to get the Phoenix Feathers. If you miss
one, a later chest will hold a Phoenix Feather. This guide lists the
earliest possible locations of all the Phoenix Feathers. By getting them
early, the later chests will hold Red Orbs instead of a missed Phoenix
Feather.

This guide shows you how to get all 18 Phoenix Feathers during the Challenge
of Poseidon.

-- Muse Keys

There are only two Muse Keys to be found in the game. However, there are FOUR
chances to find them. If you find them both early, then the later chests will
hold red orbs instead of a missed Muse Key. Once you have both keys, use them
to open the special room in the Rings of Pandora.

The four possible locations for the Muse Keys are:

Challenge of Atlas - Chest #16 (see Challenge of Atlas Section below)
Challenge of Poseidon - Chest #6 (see Challenge of Poseidon Section below)
Challenge of Poseidon - Chest #15 (see Challenge of Poseidon Section below)
Challenge of Hades - Chest #21 (see Challenge of Hades Section below)

>>Thanks to Mike Schilling ([email protected]) for verifying the Muse Key
>>location in the Challenge of Hades

                        !!!---- WARNING ----!!!
IMPORTANT: The Muse Keys MUST be used BEFORE you ascend the tower and reach
the Cliffs of Madness. Once you leave Pandora's Temple and reach the Cliffs
of Madness, you can NEVER go back to the Temple of Pandora. That is why you
hear a voice warning you about this as you attempt to ascend the tower to the
Cliffs of Madness.

If you follow this guide, you will have both Muse Keys by the time you finish
the Challenge of Poseidon and as such, this guide instructs you to go to the
Muse Key door after you have finished the Challenge of Poseidon.

     /-
0####|=================> Chest Totals
     \-

In the game, the total number of chests that can be found are as follows:

Health ---------- 46
Magic ----------- 26
Combo ----------- 70
Red Orbs -------- 151
Gorgon Eye ------ 18
Phoenix Feather - 17 ~~ There ARE 18 Feathers, but 1 can come from the Nyads!
Muse Key -------- 2

Total Chests ---- 330

Interesting Tip: As you progress through the game, there are MANY things
that you can break and smash such as barrels, statues, vases, cracked
walls, etc. Breaking these things typically gives you a few red orbs.
As you're going through the game and you're wondering whether or not
an item is breakable, simply try to grab it (hit the O Button). If
you see the "blocked grab" animation (Kratos gets knocked backward) then
the item IS BREAKABLE. Otherwise, Kratos simply grabs air with no
animation which means you can't break that item. There are a few
exceptions to this such as the occasional door, the final statues at the
end of the game, under-water breakables, and perhaps a few others. But
as a general rule, this stands true.

     /-
0####|=================> The Nyads
     \-

During the Challenge of Poseidon, you will encounter the Nyads which are
Poseidon's daughters. When you meet one, you interact with her by
hitting the O Button (the grab button) to kiss her. There are FOUR Nyads
to be found.

The Nyads are there to give you Gorgon Eyes and Phoenix Feathers IF,
and only IF, you do not have all 18 of either item by the time you meet
them.

As said earlier in this guide, there are a total of 18 Gorgon Eyes and
18 Phoenix Feathers to be found in the game. However, there are more than
18 chances to find them. If you miss a chest early in the game that holds
either a Gorgon Eye or a Phoenix Feather, a later chest will contain that
missed item. However, if you did find the Gorgon Eyes and Phoenix Feathers
early in the game, then the later chests will give you red orbs.

The same is true for the Nyads. If you encounter the Nyads and do not have
all 18 Gorgon Eyes or all 18 Phoenix Feathers, then the Nyads, depending on
which one you kiss, will give you one of these missing items. Each Nyad has
a set and specific gift that she will give you (assuming you haven't already
found all of the items that she is assigned to) if you kiss her, and the gifts
are as follows:

Nyad #1 - Gorgon Eye
Nyad #2 - Phoenix Feather
Nyad #3 - Gorgon Eye
Nyad #4 - Phoenix Feather

Their locations are as follows:

Nyad #1 - Plain view when you start the Challenge of Poseidon.
Nyad #2 - Behind the cracked carving of the Nyads.
Nyad #3 - Behind a cracked wall to the left of the save point.
Nyad #4 - Same area as Nyad #3 but can be found behind a cracked wall to
the right of the Statue of Poseidon.

See the section for The Challenge of Poseidon below for more detail on the
Nyad locations.

If you reach the Nyads and have all of the Gorgon Eyes, then Nyads #1 & #3
will not give you anything.

If you reach the Nyads and have all of the Phoenix Feathers, then Nyads #2
and #4 will not give you anything.

Currently, this Guide shows you how to get all of the Gorgon Eyes and 17 of
the 18 Phoenix Feathers BEFORE you reach the Nyads. This means that ONLY
Nyad #2 will give you anything which is a Phoenix Feather. That is, if
you follow this guide, you will already have all 18 of the Gorgon Eyes, so
Nyads #1 & #3 which are assigned to give you Gorgon Eyes will have nothing to
give you. Also, if you follow this guide, you will have 17 of the 18 feathers
so when you meet Nyad #2 which is assigned to give you a feather, she WILL
grant you the 18th feather when you kiss her. Once you get that 18th feather,
you will have them all meaning that Nyad #4 will have nothing to give you
since she was assigned to give you a feather.

Now, for the sake of clarification, you do NOT have to interact with the
Nyads. You can simply pass them by. If you do so, you WILL eventually find
the 18th Phoenix Feather in a later chest. However, this guide is intended
to show you how to get the Eye and Feather upgrades as quickly as possible,
so in following this guide, you should get 17 Feathers from chests and then
get an 18th Feather from Nyad #2. In doing this, not only will you get you
upgrades more quickly, but in taking a feather from the Nyads, you will allow
a later chest in the game to give you red orbs instead of wasting it by making
it hold the Feather Nyad #2 will give you.

The same thing applies to the Gorgon Eyes and the Nyads as well.

After the second Mini-Hydra fight, you must balance across beams to the
next ship. As you progress along the beam, there will be a beam that forks
to the right. Follow it to get the chest.

5. Plain View : Health
On the second ship, after the above, it's next to the Save Point.

6. Plain View : Health
After the above, it's in a niche on the second floor at the far end of the
ship where the archers are/were (the crate kicking area).

7. Obstructed : Red Orbs
After the above, once you climb all the way to the top of the main mast, you
will be on a small platform with a rope that you can grab and slide down on
which will take you to the next ship. BEFORE you grab the rope, walk to the
left of the platform and balance walk out across the beam to reach the chest.

8. Hidden : (2) Red Orbs & Gorgon Eye (1/18)
After the above, you slide down the rope to the next ship. There are three
cracked walls here. The one in the center is your path forward. The ones on
the right and left have the chests.

9. Plain View : (2) Health & Magic
Right after acquiring Poseidon's Rage. They are next to the climbable net
that leads to the Hydra Boss fight.

10. Plain View : (2) Health & Gorgon Eye (2/18)
After the Hydra Boss fight, they are on the platform that you jump to in
order grab the rope and leave the ship.

             (~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~)

1. Plain View : (2) Health & Magic
Before you leave the ship after "interacting" with the women, these chests
are located at the foot of the ladder which is your exit.

2. Hidden : (2) Health & Phoenix Feather (1/18)
After exiting the ship, follow the path to the platform which you raise by
by pulling the switch. Just to the right of that platform/switch is a hole
in the wall. Jump through the hole and land in the water. Jump up on the
landing just north of you and follow the hallway for these chests.

3. Plain View : Health
After the above, ride the platform to the top and there is a green chest
in your path just before meeting the Minotaurs.

4. Plain View : Magic
After the above, you defeat the Minotaurs and this chest is in your path
as you make your way to the next platform.

5. Obstructed : Health
After the above, ride the platform up to the area where you fight the three
Cyclops. As soon as you get off the platform, go hard right to find a
ladder that leads to a lower area. The chest is down there.

6. Plain View : Combo
Same area as above. In the yard where you fight the Cyclops, across the yard
in front of your exit door is a chest.

7. Obstructed : Red Orbs
Same area as above. In the yard where you fight the Cyclops, across the yard
to the RIGHT of your exit door is a small alleyway that leads to the chest.

8. Obstructed View : (2) Magic & Gorgon Eye (3/18)
After the above, get to the room with the tall square columns. This is the
room just before you fight Medusa. Break the wooden boxes on two of the
columns to lower them. BEFORE you go forward to the ladder, jump to
the taller column to your right and the camera angle will change to show you
the ledge with the two chests.

9. Plain View : Red Orbs
After the above, continue and this chest is in your path on the ledge with
the ladder.

10. Obstructed View : Red Orbs
In the same room as above, after you've jumped to the column with the
climbable netting, instead of jumping to the exit, jump slightly to your
left to another column. The camera angle will change to reveal yet
another column you can reach that holds this chest.

11. Plain View : Combo
After the above, in the room where you fight Medusa, this chest is waiting.

12. Hidden : Red Orbs
After defeating Medusa, follow the path to a tall ladder that leads to the
bow and arrow machine. At the top of the ladder, but BEFORE you actually
climb off the ladder and onto the landing, pull back and do a double jump
away from the ladder. You will land on a ledge with this chest.

13. Obstructed View : Red Orbs
From the above listed ledge, you'll see a niche/alcove in the wall to your
left. Double jump from the ledge to the alcove to get the chest.

14. Hidden : (2) Red Orbs & Red Orbs
After the above, approach the Bow and Arrow machine BEFORE you have turned
it by pulling he switch. Fire the arrow from it's starting location and the
arrow will break the wall of a building across the courtyard revealing two
chests. You can't get them right now, but they will be obtainable later in
your path. See Back-Track Section Below.

15. Hidden : Phoenix Feather (2/18)
In the same above room, pull the switch TWICE to turn the bow and arrow
machine so that it is facing left. Fire at the wall and the wall will
break open to reveal this chest.

16. Plain View : Health
Same room as above next to the save point.

17. Plain View : Gorgon Eye (4/18)
After the above, use the bow and arrow to break the door and go forward. Go
LEFT and take the ladder down. There is a chest here next to a gate.
IMPORTANT : Open the gate now, and THEN backtrack to the ladder and go
back up top (where the bow and arrow machine is).

BACK-TRACK : Chests From Original Bow And Arrow Machine Puzzle (Item 14)
After the above, take the ladder on the right hand side of the hallway and
work your way up to the climbable wall. As soon as you start climbing the
the wall, go LEFT to reach the small ledge. From this ledge, jump down
to the building below you with the red/pink roof. Once on the roof, the
camera angle will change to show you the exposed chests. Double jump
over to them to obtain them. Once done, drop down and go through the
gate that you opened in the above chest discovery.

18. Plain View : Health
After the above, you come to a spot where you need to push over the statue.
The chest is in your path after knocking over the statue.

19. Obstructed : Health
After the above, climb up the ladder on the opposite building to fight
the Gorgons. The chest is to the left in a small area on this level
next to the wall. Just walk left once you get off the ladder to see
it.

20. Plain View : Health
After the above, cross the rope and drop down. The chest is here.

21. Obstructed : (2) Health & Red Orbs
After the above, use the Bow and Arrow machine to break the second door.
Also use the Bow and Arrow machine to kill the four Minotaurs. Once done,
walk forward to a ladder that leads down. Get on the ladder and climb UP
instead of down. At the top of the ladder, you'll find two chests.

22. Hidden : Red Orbs
From the above location, BEFORE going back down the ladder to continue,
stand at the edge facing the ladder. Double jump straight out and away
from the ledge you are standing and you will land on yet another hidden
ledge. This jump is made easier if you get back onto the ladder (make sure
to stay at the top of the ladder) then pull back and do a double jump out
and away from the ladder to hit the hidden ledge.

NOTE: At this point in the game, you will view a cutscene with the Oracle.
From there you will continue forward and see Ares in the distance waging
war on the City of Athens. A cut-scene is also available if you walk
forward to the edge.

Now, from here there is a save to your right. You have a choice of sorts
here in your progression. You can either go right or left at this point.
The way you are supposed to go is to your left as that is the path in
which the game progresses, however you can go to your right down the long
pathway to find a dead end which is the sealed door leading to the Desert
of Lost souls. If you go right at this point, you will find a chest
that holds a Gorgon Eye. But, you will also be at a dead end and will have
to backtrack all the way back in order to continue with the natural
progression of the game.

This guide is written so that you simply go left and do not go right due
to the backtracking required to do so, and for the simple fact that the
game will eventually lead you down that path later. No need to go that way
at this point. However, if you wish, you can go right at this point to get
that Gorgon Eye, but it will throw off the eye count used in this guide.

Further, getting that eye at this point doesnt grant you any benefit since
the final eyes can be found in the Temple of the Oracle chapter. In that
chapter of the game, there are four Gorgon Eyes, but if you go right at this
point to get this Gorgon Eye, there will only be 3 Gorgon Eyes in the Temple
of the Oracle chapter. The fourth chest that would have held the last eye
will be replaced with red orbs if you go right at this point. However, the
red orb chest that replaces the eye in the Temple of the Oracle is a small
orb chest and only grants 45 red orbs.

Conversely, if you follow this guide and get the Gorgon Eyes in the order
listed, the chest to the right will become a large red orb chest which
holds 90 red orbs. You will automatically bump into that chest after you
finish the Sewers of Athens chapter. So, as I said, its up to you at this
point. You can go right from here and get that chest early for a Gorgon Eye
which means backtracking to continue your game and which also causes a chest
in the Temple of the Oracle to turn into a 45 red orb chest, or you can follow
this guide and allow the chest to the right to turn into a 90 red orb chest
thus gaining 45 additional red orbs by following the guide and the natural
progression of the game.

The chest to the right will eventually be encountered as the game unfolds at
the end of the Sewers of Athens section, and it is item 11 in that section of
this guide.

If you grab it now, you will change Item 15 in the Temple of the Oracle into
a small red orb chest (only 45 red orbs).

I bring this up due to the fact that I have received many emails concerning
this particular chest. There has been some confusion amongst many gamers in
that they believed I had missed this chest. On the contrary, I intentionally
instruct the gamer to go left at this point in order to avoid back-tracking
and to also gain an additional 45 red orbs by allowing the chest to the right
to turn into a red orb chest.

So, its up to you, but for the record, you will have to back-track and you
will lose 45 red orbs if you go right at this point. Also, the spacing of
the eyes in the Temple of the Oracle chapter are only a screen apart, so you
dont save much time at all by getting that eye early. In fact, you will
lose time and have to backtrack across 6 screens in order to get the eye to
the right when it can easily be gotten one screen further into the Temple of
the Oracle.

Now, I hope that clears up the confusion, and onto the rest of the guide.

1. Plain View : Magic
In the Minotaur Puzzle Room where you stone the Minotaur on the switch
you will find this chest. This chest is re-usable until you have
defeated the puzzle (gotten out of the room). Once you leave this room,
you CAN come back and get this chest as it will have re-spawned if you
used it prior to solving this puzzle. See below for details on how to
get this chest.

2. Plain View : Health
Right outside the Minotaur Puzzle Room just outside the gate is where
this chest is.

BACK-TRACK : Chest from Minotaur Puzzle Room (Item 1)
After above, there will be some rubble to your right, jump up onto it then
jump over to the other side. You'll be in front of the gate that leads to
the Minotaurs Puzzle Room. Open the gate to enter the Minotaurs Puzzle Room
and claim the chest.

3. Next, you travel the road toward the Athens Town Square. There are Houses
on either side of the road. All of them can be entered, and most of them
contain Chests. To enter the 1st floor, hit the door with your Blades of Chaos
to break the door open. To enter the 2nd floor, jump up next to the building
to do a ledge hang and then pull yourself up. There are 13 Chests to be found
in these houses.
For the following, if a house lists "---" that means there's Nothing in that
particular House.

Contributed Material:
-- Tip for the 9th house on the right --
A big thanks to David Floyd ([email protected]) for finding a chest I
missed in these houses! For the 9th house on the right, there is a 2nd chest
on the 2nd floor of this house. HOWEVER, it is a bit tricky to obtain.
As you approach this house, you will notice a crate against the southern
wall of the house. This crate IS breakable, but do NOT break it! Instead,
jump up onto this crate and then double jump up to the ledge of the 2nd floor
of this house. Pull yourself up and smash the door to find this chest.
If you break the crate, it will NOT re-spawn and you will NOT be able to
get this hidden chest, so you WILL want to keep all of your enemy battles
far and away from this area to avoid inadvertently breaking the crate.
The Minotaurs especially WILL break this crate as they are trying to hit
you. So, back up and have them follow you and take them out around the corner
far and away from this crate. If this crate is smashed, you'll have to
restart or just forget about getting it.

*NOTE : After the Cyclops fight, you may/will notice there is a ledge above
and to the left of door that you take in order to follow the woman with the
key (the door that leads to the room with the polished floors and cracked wall
carvings). On this ledge are three chests that you can NOT reach at this
point. You can only reach these chests at the end of the Rooftops of Athens
Chapter - see Item 22 in the Rooftops of Athens section.
So, go forward for now, and you will be able to get these chests later.

1. Hidden : Red Orbs
After fight with Cyclops, in the courtyard on left hand side is a small
alley that leads to a breakable door that hides this chest.

2. Hidden : Red Orbs
Just North of the above chest is another breakable door that hides this
chest.

3. Hidden : Gorgon Eye (7/18)
Continue from above to reach a room with polished floors and carvings on
the wall. Straight ahead is a cracked carving. Break it open to get this
chest.

4. Hidden : Combo
To the right of the above on the far wall is another cracked wall carving.
Break it open to get this chest.

5. Plain View : Health
Continue from above to the top of the stairs and this chest will be in your
path.

6. Hidden : Red Orbs
To the right of the above is a breakable wooden door. Break the door and
enter the room. On the left is a cracked wall carving. Break the carving
to reveal this chest.

7. Plain View : Combo
In the same room as above, on the far end wall, there is an opening which
leads to a small balcony. This chest is on the balcony.

8. Hidden : Gorgon Eye (8/18)
From the above, continue to the break in the path where you must jump across
to the next balcony to continue chasing the woman that has the key to the
trapdoor. However, INSTEAD of jumping straight across to the landing spot on
the other side, pull LEFT as you jump (do a double jump for this) and Kratos
will hit and grab the ledge. Ledge walk (hand-over-hand) to the left and
around the ledge till your back is toward the opposite building. Double jump
back and away from the ledge to reach the ledge of the opposite building.
Break the door there to get this chest.

9. Obstructed : Combo
After the above, drop down to the ground below to find this chest next to
the gate at the far end of this area (opposite side of the ladder).

10. Obstructed : Phoenix Feather (5/18)
After the above, continue onward, watch the woman commit suicide, and find
the save spot to your right. Walk toward the save spot and then jump over
the balcony to fall to a slightly lower balcony for this chest.

             (~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~)

1. Plain View : (2) Health & Magic
On the small balcony just outside the room where you first battle the
wraiths is where you'll find these two chests.

2. Plain View : Health
After the above, enter the room and this chest is easily seen next to
the broken stairs and exit doorway.

3. Hidden : Gorgon Eye (9/18)
In the same room as above (the wraith battle room), to the RIGHT of the
above mentioned chest is a breakable wooden door. Smash it for this chest.

4. Plain View : Health
After the above, continue up the stairs to find this chest on the roof that
you have to battle the wraiths and Cyclops on.

5. Hidden : (2) Red Orbs & Phoenix Feather (6/18)
- This Phoenix Feather will be your first Magic Bar Upgrade -
After grabbing the above chest, do not leave the roof yet. Go hard right
from the above chest to the break in the Northern wall. Walk forward to
the edge of the roof as if you intend to jump off the edge (you can't).
Once you've reached the edge, walk to your right to find a hidden alcove
that holds these chests.
-- A big thanks to [email protected] for finding these chests and
-- letting me know about them!

6. Obstructed : Red Orbs
After the above, after exiting the Wraith battle room, take a left to get
this chest.

7. Plain View : Health
From above, continue to see this chest on your right just before you reach
the broken bridge.

8. Obstructed : Red Orbs
After the above, you have to cross the chasm that was once a bridge.
You have to jump across the wreckage to continue your journey. On the
first column that you jump to and do the wall climb on, work your way to
the right hand side of the pillar so that the pillar is between you and the
archers. Work your way all the way down on that side and you'll see a new
path of vines leading back to the left. Go left, and work your way back up
so that your back is toward the ledge of the building. Double jump to the
ledge and get the chest. While you're there, open the door and kill all the
enemies!

9. Plain View : Red Orbs
After the above, continue forward and find this chest in your pathway as
soon you have reached the far side of the broken bridge.

10. Plain View : Combo
Continue forward and this chest is to the left of the door that leads to the
room with the save point.

11. Hidden : Combo
Continue from above to your left to reach the Crossbow Puzzle room. This
chest is behind the 2nd door on the right.

12. Hidden : Red Orbs
In same room as above, take the first door on left, climb up the ladder and
find this chest in the small room at the top of the ladder.

13. Plain View : Magic
Continue from above and find this chest to the left of where you obtain
Zeus' Fury.
- NOTE : This chest will re-spawn and can be re-used infinitely. So feel
free to back track to this chest at anytime to replenish your magic. Using
this chest constantly is a great way to rack up orbs by using Medusa's Gaze
to stone and smash your enemies. You can come back to this chest anytime
up until you finish the Temple of the Oracle chapter and enter the Athens
Sewers.
--Thanks to David Floyd ([email protected]) for pointing out that this
--chest will replenish itself infinitely.

14. Hidden : (3) Magic & Gorgon Eye (10/18) & Phoenix Feather (7/18)
After getting Zeus' Fury, go kill the archers and enter the newly opened
room. Break open the cracked wall to find these chests.

15. Obstructed : (2) Combo & Gorgon Eye (11/18)
Continue from above. Go to the save room, climb ladder. Once on roof, head
to the right to find another ladder. Climb up to the ledge at the top of the
ladder to find these chests.

16. Plain View : Combo
From above, go to the 2nd rooftop and see this chest to the right of the
path that leads to the 3rd rooftop.

17. Hidden : (5) Combo & Combo & Red Orbs & Red Orbs & Red Orbs
From above (the 2nd roof top), before proceeding to the 3rd rooftop, go
to the left to find a small ledge with a rope that you can swing on which
leads to another rope and finally across to another building. Once you get
to the new building, you'll find these chests and 4 or more archers in the
distance pounding the crap out of you. Use Zeus' fury to take them out
and then open all the chest.

18. Hidden : Gorgon Eye (12/18)
- This Gorgon Eye will give you your 2nd Health Bar Upgrade -
After the above bit of exploration, you go back to your rooftop progression.
Once you reach the 3rd rooftop, the rooftop where you have to jump over to
the vines and make your way to the coward at the gate, do not jump over to
the vines yet. Go to the upper left hand corner (Kratos' left as he is
facing the vines on the far wall) of this rooftop, and you'll notice the
edge is cracked or missing (if it is only cracked, hit it to break it).
Get next to the edge of the roof and jump out just a little bit and as
you're in the air pull to the left and you will fall on a ledge with this
chest.

19. Plain View : Magic
From above, continue by jumping over to the vines and pull yourself up.
This chest is to the left of the ramp that leads up to the coward at the
gate.

20. Plain View : (2) Phoenix Feather (8/18) & Gorgon Eye (13/18)
Continue by crossing the coward's bridge and in the next room these are on
the left and right side of the doorway which leads to the next room.

21. Plain View : (2) Red Orbs & Red Orbs
Continue from above to the elevator room and find these on the left and right
side of the elevator's entrance.

22. Hidden : (3) Red Orbs & Gorgon Eye (14/18) & Phoenix Feather (9/18)
At the end of this chapter (technically, it's the beginning of the next
chapter which is called the Temple of the Oracle - but it makes more sense
to put it here) you come to the broken bridge that crosses the Athens
Courtyard (the spot you fought the Cyclops - you also see the cut-scene of
the Oracle being kidnapped). Once you cross over the broken bridge you come
to a save point (definitely save your game here). At the save point, to your
right and slightly below you is a ledge with the chests.
To get to it, face away from the Save point and jump out a little bit away
from the ledge you are standing on and then IMMEDIATELY pull slightly left
and back TOWARD the same ledge that you just jumped from and hit your double
jump to jump back toward the ledge. When done correctly, Kratos will grab
the ledge (the ledge with the Save point from which you just jumped) and do
a ledge hang. Ledge walk (hand-over-hand) toward the building until you're
across from the opening. Double jump away from the ledge to get the chests.
*Note - These are the chests mentioned in the opening note of the Athens Town
Square section.

1. Hidden : Red Orbs
After the save point, work your way up the stairs toward the temple. You'll

this chest. The fight usually breaks the wall for you, but if not, check
the wall after the fight in order to find this chest.

2. Plain View : (2) Health & Magic
Continue from above and these chests are on the left and right side of the
bridge that leads to the Temple of the Oracle.

3. Plain View : (2) Phoenix Feather (10/18) & Gorgon Eye (15/18)
Continue from above to the entrance of the Temple. On the left and right
side of the door which leads into the temple is where these 2 chests are
located.

4. Hidden : Red Orbs
After getting the above chests, BEFORE entering the Temple, go all the way
to the LEFT side and up a bit to find a ledge. Jump up for a ledge hang
and then pull yourself up to get this chest.

5. Hidden : Red Orbs
After getting the above chests, BEFORE entering the Temple, go all the way
to the RIGHT side and up a bit to find a ledge. Jump up for a ledge hang
and then pull yourself up to get this chest.

6. Obstructed : Red Orbs
Continue from above to the Main Temple room where the Harpy Puzzle is
waiting. As soon as you enter the Temple, go to the right to get the
camera angle to change which shows this chest slightly above you on a ledge.
Jump up on the ledge to get it.

7. Obstructed : Gorgon Eye (16/18)
Same as the above, except from the entrance of temple, go left and stay
close to the back wall to get the camera angle to change and reveal this
chest on a ledge that is slightly above you. Jump up on the ledge to get
this chest.

8. Plain View : (2) Combo & Combo
In the same room as above (Main Temple Room), you must use the statues at
the far end of the room to solve the puzzle. These chests are located
behind the statues (one chest behind each statue).

9. Plain View : Combo
After solving the Harpy puzzle, continue to the door that leads to the stairs
which take you to the second floor and the rafters. This chest is on the
right hand side of the door.

10. Hidden : Gorgon Eye (17/18)
After solving the Harpy puzzle, you must balance across the beams of the
second floor to continue. As you cross the rafters, you will notice on the
left hand wall (the wall where the two statues where originally located) a
large white stained glass window. There is a small ledge below this window.
Double jump over to the ledge and break the window to reveal this chest.

11. Plain View : Health
After crossing the rafters, this chest is next to the save point.

12. Plain View : Red Orbs
In the Courtyard where the Oracle is hanging from the rope, this chest is
on the first small platform that you must jump up on to reach the 2nd
platform and the timed route that leads to saving the Oracle.

13. Hidden : Phoenix Feather (11/18)
AFTER you have saved the Oracle and viewed the cut-scene, jump back onto the
route that you were just timed on (left of the platform, wall climb past the
paddle wheels, etc). Work your way all the way back around to the far side
of the courtyard where you have to balance across the beams. At the first
platform, you will notice that it is secured to the wall on a beam of its
own. Walk to the right along this beam to find a ledge with the chest.

14. Hidden : (2) Red Orbs & Red Orbs
After getting the above chest, move the stacked statues from the left hand
side of the platform over to the RIGHT hand side. Now, get back on the
tall platform and jump over to the statues and then do a double jump from
the statues off to the right and land on a cliff for two chests.

15. Hidden : Gorgon Eye (18/18)
- This Gorgon Eye will be the 3rd and Final Gorgon Eye Upgrade -
After getting the above chests, drop down to the lower courtyard and go to
the right hand wall. Work your way down to find a small alcove with a
cracked wall. Break the wall to get this chest.

16. Hidden : Red Orbs
From the above chest, keeping working your way down to find another small
alcove with a cracked wall. Break the wall to get the chest.

17. Hidden : Phoenix Feather (12/18)
- This Phoenix Feather will be your 2nd Magic Bar Upgrade -
After leaving the Oracle Courtyard, you reach a save point and the Sword
Path which leads to the sewers. Before taking the sword path, go left and
all the way up the stairs to the monument and the Statue of Athena.
Go and jump to the right of Athena to reach this chest. Note: this area
is Suicide Bluff, and it is the spot from which Kratos tries to commit
suicide at the beginning and end of the game. Its also the monument that
leads to the God of War's throne room.

18. Obstructed : Phoenix feather (13/18)
From above, continue across the sword path and go down the spiral stairs
to the entrance of the sewers. BEFORE entering the sewers, pull back and
away from the sewer entrance to get the camera angle to change and reveal
this chest that is under/behind the stairs.

(and fight some enemies) and then have to drop back down on the other side.

\----------------------------------------------------------------------------/

1. Plain View : Combo
In first room you reach after you obtain the Blade of Artemis. This chest is
located to the right of the exit door.

2. Plain View : Magic
Same area as above, on left hand side at the top of the broken staircase.

3. Obstructed : Red Orbs
From the above chest, continue to balance beams and go to the ledge where
the archers were (you just killed them with Zeus' Fury right?). Once you
reach the ledge, go hard right BEFORE you pull the switch to find a small
alcove that holds this chest.

4. Plain View : (2) Health & Magic
From above area, pull switch, go down rope. Once at bottom, cross the next
rope to the far end balcony to find these chests.

5. Plain View : (2) Magic & Combo
After obtaining the Shield of Hades, get past the soldier trap and enter the
next area where these chests are waiting.

6. Plain View : (3) Magic & Combo & Red Orbs
From above, continue to the room with the shield door puzzle and the
spinning wall. Get past the spinning wall to the next area. These chests
are located in the small alcoves that line the wall of this new area. The
red orbs are actually at the end of the hallway, just follow the path around
past the ladder to see the red orb chest.

7. Obstructed : Red Orbs
From the above area, climb up the ladder and take the balance beam to the
LEFT instead of across to the shield. As you walk down this beam, the camera
angle will change to reveal this chest in a small alcove. Double jump
over to the alcove to get it.

8. Obstructed : Red Orbs
From the above chest, continue down the same beam to the far end wall.
The camera angle will change to reveal this chest. Double jump over to
the alcove to get it.

9. Plain View : Health
Continue from above to the saw floor room. This chest is to the right
of the door that leads to the Statue of Atlas.

10. Hidden : (2) Red Orbs & Phoenix feather (15/18)
From the saw room, go through the north door and continue to the bridge that
leads to the tower with the Handle of Atlas (split floor room). Once on this
bridge, find the broken edge about mid-way down the bridge. Face the
broken ledge (Kratos will have his back to the screen) and double jump
straight out and across to land on the opposite ledge. Go left to get the
red orbs and go right to get the Phoenix Feather.

11. Obstructed : Combo
From above, continue down bridge to exit. As soon as you cross through the
exit, go right (away from the tower) to find this chest near the edge of the
ledge.

12. Obstructed : Red Orbs
From above, continue to wall climbing sequence. During the climb, when you
reach the first high gap that you must jump across to the LEFT to continue,
(this will actually be the third gap that you've jumped) jump over and
immediately climb down instead of up. Go all the way down to find a ledge
with this chest.

13. Obstructed : Red Orbs
Continue from above. Once you reach the tower, instead of entering the
tower, go all the way down to reach a ledge with this chest.

14. Plain View : Combo
From above, climb back up to the tower. Cross over to the tower and find
this chest next to the switch.

15. Obstructed : (2) Red Orbs & Red Orbs
After the split floor timed fight, go back and pull the switch to drop the
chain. Jump to chain and climb UP instead of down to find the ledge with
these chests.

16. Hidden : First Muse Key
Continue to the Statue of Atlas and walk BEHIND the Statue of Atlas to
find a hidden chest. Inside is the first Muse Key. If you miss it here,
you can also find it in Poseidon's Challenge - but get it here so that the
other chest in Poseidon's challenge will give you more red orbs.

17. Obstructed : Phoenix Feather (16/18)
Continue from above to the 2nd floor. Once you reach the 2nd floor, go left
along the ledge toward the Statue of Atlas to reveal this chest.

18. Plain View : Red Orbs
From above, pull switch to get Atlas to throw the Globe. Then go left to
opposite ledge and go toward the Statue of Atlas to find this chest.

19. Hidden : (2) Red Orbs & Red Orbs
From the above ledge, back-track toward the switch ledge until you hit a
column that prevents you from going further down this ledge. The chests are
hidden in a niche at the far end of this ledge. To get there is a bit tricky,
but face the column and then angle a bit to the left of it, your goal is to
jump out away from the ledge and then pull back for the double jump and land
on the ledge again on the other side of the column.
Timing is everything here, so jump outward and as you are going outward, pull
back toward the ledge and then hit jump again for the double jump. Once you
do it correctly, you'll land on the ledge on the other side of the column.
Walk all the way to the end to find the chest in a recessed niche. You'll
also find another archway that leads to the other side of the room,
balance/walk across it to get the 2nd hidden chest in another recessed
niche.

20. Obstructed : Red Orbs
After getting the above chests, drop down and go through the door that
the Atlas globe just opened. Once through the door, immediately go hard
left to get the camera angle to change and reveal this chest.

21. Plain View : Combo
After getting the skull of the Architect's 1st son, drop down to the bottom
of the ladder and the chest is waiting for you here.

22. Plain View : Combo
Continue from above to reach the end of the hallway and the exit door.
This chest is here to the left of the exit door.

1. Plain View : (2) Health & Magic
Continue from the Muse key room to the save point found outside the main room
of the Challenge of Hades. These chests are at the bottom of the ladder
that is to the right of the save point.

2. Plain View : (2) Health & Health
From above, take the ladder up and enter the main room of the Challenge of
Hades. These chests are located at the base of the large statues that are
on the left and right hand side of the stairs that are located at the far
end of the room (the stairs lead to a dark room at this point).

3. Hidden : (2) Red Orbs & Red Orbs
The stairs at the far end of this room are framed by a wall/banister on
either side. Jump onto this wall/banister and follow it all the way to the
top. There you will see the flaming bowls that are being held by the
statues. Jump toward the bowl and Kratos will do a ledge hang from the lip
of the bowls. Ledge walk (hand-over-hand) all the way around the bowl to
reach a niche in the wall that holds the chest. This can be done on each side
of the stairs for each statue.
-- Thanks to DragonicFlare ([email protected]) for finding these and
-- listing them in her Walkthrough. I missed them!
-- Another thanks to [email protected] for emailing me about these
-- hidden chests and confirming that a Chest Guide might be useful.

4. Hidden : Red Orbs

is in your path on the left (just before you're attacked by a Gorgon).

9. Plain View : Red Orbs
Continue from above to the circular room with the Centaurs and Gorgons.
This chest is found in the north doorway of this room

10. Plain View : Health
From above, continue to the rising platform. Kill the archers and take
a right BEFORE going up on the platform. This chest is at the end of the
hallway.

11. Hidden : (2) Red Orbs & Red Orbs
From above, continue from the top of the rising platform to the first
pushable "Hades Block" (it will be on your left). Push this block forward
until it falls down into the floor and reveals the trap floor. Cross the
trap floor to get these chests (the trap reverts to a normal floor after
you get these chests).

12. Plain View : Health
Continue from above to the next pushable Hades Block. Push the block until
it falls into the floor. Enter the newly revealed room to find this chest
in the upper right hand corner of this room.

13. BOULDER TRAP AREA
--After the above, you continue to the Flaming Boulder Trap Area --
In the boulder trap area, there are 9 doors. There are 5 doors on the left
and 4 doors on the right. You can open each of these doors. One is
the exit. For the following "---" means there is nothing behind the door.

++++ Left Doors ++++
Door 1 : ---
Door 2 : ---
Door 3 : EXIT
Door 4 : ---
Door 5 : ---

++++ Right Doors ++++
Door 1 : ---
Door 2 : Health Chest
Door 3 : ---
Door 4 : ---

You CAN take the exit immediately, BUT there is a room at the end of this
hallway/trap. If you go to the room at the end of this hall you will
find the following chests:

Plain View : (3) Health & Red Orbs & Red Orbs

14. Plain View : Combo
Continue from the exit of the Boulder Trap area to reach an open area where
you will be attacked by some Minotaurs and Archers. This chest is in the
upper left hand corner of this area.

15. Plain View : Combo
From the above area, take the RIGHT path first. Kill the archers and find
this chest about mid-way up the path.

16. Plain View : Magic
Back-track from the above area and take the left path now. Cross the rope
to a circular platform for a battle with Soldiers, Minotaurs, and Centaurs.
The chest is on the right hand side of this area at the 3 o'clock position.

17. Plain View : Red Orbs
From above, continue through a series of hallways. The exit path will be on
your left, but continue past the exit to a dead end that has this chest.

18. Obstructed : Red Orbs
Go past the save to the balance beams with the rotating knife poles.
On the first platform, take small beam on right, double jump to next
platform and there is a beam immediately on your right. Take this beam to
reach a ledge with this chest.

19. Obstructed : Red orbs
Back-track from above back to main platform, continue forward to find a beam
on your right that leads to another ledge with this chest (this is on the
same side/wall as the above chest).

20. Obstructed : Red Orbs
Continue to the spinner that has a regular ledge that you can walk on in
place of its 4th blade pole. Before jumping onto this spinner's ledge,
go immediately to your right to find a long platform. At the end of this
platform is the chest.

21. Obstructed : Red Orbs
From the above, continue to the rope that you slide down on to reach the
exit. BEFORE sliding down the rope, follow the beam to the right for this
chest.

22. Plain View : (3) Health & Magic & Red orbs
After the Minotaur Boss Fight, continue into the room that holds the
Architect's 2nd Son. These chests are located on the right and left hand
side of this room. Get the son's skull while you're here!

IMPORTANT : There are basically two things to do here. One is to get
Aphrodite's Necklace, and the other is to get Hera's Necklace. You can
attempt either one in whatever order you like, the game doesn't make
that decision for you.
HOWEVER, I strongly suggest that you go for Aphrodite's Necklace first!
If you go after Hera's Necklace first, you WILL have to do a lot of
back-tracking to get Aphrodite's Necklace. Further, by going for Hera's
necklace first, there is a chest that will get replaced by a switch!
See items 7, 8, 9 & 21 below for more details.
So, go for Aphrodite's Necklace first in order to save yourself a LOT
of back-tracking (thus making your path/journey through here shorter) and
in order to make another chest available to you.

1. Plain View : Health
Once you step off the hands of the newly raised statue, you are in a
circular area where you fight some Satyrs for the first time. This
chest is on the right hand side of this area.

2. Plain View : Health
Just outside the above listed area, you'll find this chest in your path on
the right just before you reach the harpy cut-scene.

3. Plain View : Combo
Continue from above to the end of the bridge. This chest is to the left of
the book near the save.

4. Hidden : (2) Red Orbs & Red Orbs
In the same area as above, go to the right of the book and behind the
statue to find a cracked wall. Break the wall to get these chests.

5. Obstructed : Magic
Continue from above forward through a small pathway. Once you exit the
pathway, immediately go LEFT to find this chest behind some breakable
barrels.

++++ Path to Aphrodite's Necklace ++++

6. Plain View : Combo
From above, continue to the right all the way around to the platform. Raise
the platform to reach the save point and begin your quest for Aphrodite's
Necklace. At the top of the platform, take a RIGHT. You'll bump into
some boulders in the path. JUMP OVER the boulders to continue. You'll
find this chest about mid-way up the path.

7. Plain View : Health
Continue from above to a large cave with a cat-walk. After the fight, take
the cat-walk to the 2nd level of this room to find the chest against the back
wall.
NOTE: If you attempted Hera's Necklace first, you would have been able
to pull a switch that lowers a rope thus opening a path above this cave
meaning you could completely SKIP this cave and the resulting fight.
You'd miss the chest that is in here though. (see item 9)

8. Plain View : Red Orbs
Drop down from the above and continue to a platform. Raise the platform
to get to the save point, notice the stone block hanging by a rope to your
right (do NOT interact with it right now). Continue to the timed, block
pushing trap room. Get the block to the ledge in time, jump up to the
first ledge, and this chest is waiting for you. After you get the chest,
jump over and get Aphrodite's Necklace.

9. Plain View : Red Orbs
From above, back-track to the save point. There is a stone block hanging
by a rope on your right. Jump ONTO the stone block to cause it to drop down
to the level below you. Once you are down at the next lower level, you will
see this chest.
NOTE: If you attempted Hera's Necklace first, you would have been able to
pull a switch that would have lowered this rope for you. However, in doing
so, that switch actually replaces a Chest (see item 21)

++++ Path to Hera's Necklace ++++

10. Plain View : Health
Continue from above (to the right) to the next cave entrance (it has a golden
Minotaur carving above its entrance). BEFORE going into the new cave, take
the ladder to your right to reach a lower ledge and this chest.

11. Plain View : Magic
Continue from above to the area with the twin platforms that you must move
and align to reach the far side. BEFORE getting on these platforms, get the
chest that is against the back wall.

12. Obstructed : Combo
Continue from above to finally exit the cave. Once you cross through the
exit, immediately go LEFT first to get the camera angle to change and reveal
this chest.

13. Obstructed : Red Orbs
From above, continue to the right and reach the statues of Hera and Aphrodite.
Use Aphrodite's Necklace, and then jump to the right of Aphrodite to reach
the area behind her statue. The chest is here.

14. Hidden : (3) Red Orbs & Red Orbs & Red Orbs
From the above chest, go through the opening on your left to find a pool of
water. Jump in and swim though the waterway to reach a fountain area.
There are 3 cracked walls here; one cracked wall behind each waterfall.
Break each wall to claim each chest.
Note: When you are standing at Aphrodite's Necklace Statue, you can
actually see this area off in the distance!

15. Plain View : Red orbs
Back-track to Hera's Necklace Statue and take the ladder down to the next
area. Continue past the Satyrs to the slider rope. Before jumping onto the
rope, the chest is to the right.

16. Plain View : Combo
From above, take the slider rope down and enter the cave. The chest is in
the cave against the back wall.

17. Hidden : (4) Combo & Red Orbs & Red Orbs & Red Orbs
Continue from above to the Rock puzzle. BEFORE attempting to complete
the puzzle, push the "T" block over to the tallest straight block on the
left hand side of the room. Next, push the small single block over next
to the "T" block. Jump up onto the single block, then to the "T" block,
then to the tallest block, and finally to the ledge that has the chests.
Once done with these chests, solve the puzzle and get Hera's necklace.

18. Obstructed : Combo
From above rock puzzle, back-track to newly lowered ladder. Climb up the
ladder to reach the wall climbing area. During the wall climb, once you
reach the 2nd gap, jump across and then head UP instead of to the right.
Head up and then to the far left to reach a ledge that holds this chest.

19. Obstructed : Red orbs
From the above ledge, climb all the way up to reach a new ledge with this
chest.

20. Plain View : Red Orbs
From the above ledge, jump over to the next ledge on your right to get this
chest.

21. Obstructed : Red Orbs
From the above 2nd ledge, jump to the right to reach the 3rd and final
ledge. Here, climb down and work your way to the right to reach another
ledge with this chest.
NOTE: If you attempted Hera's necklace first, this will NOT be a chest
but will actually be a switch that lowers the rope located at item 9 above.

22. Obstructed : Red Orbs
From the above, back-track all the way back to the regular path and
continue to your right. Once you reach the exit, BEFORE you go down far
enough to fall from the wall and reach the pathway, head LEFT to reach
yet another ledge that holds this chest.

23. Plain View : (2) Magic & Red Orbs
Continue to Hera's Necklace Statue and use Hera's Necklace. These chests
are on the top left moving ledge; its the top ledge on the same side as the
Aphrodite and Hera Necklace Statues. Jump back and forth on these
platforms to reach these chests.

Here is a trick that you can pull off during the Challenge of Atlas to get
infinite Red Orbs. Note: This trick HAS been confirmed to also work on the
PAL version.

In the Challenge of Atlas, once you cross the bridge after the saw floor room,
there will be a harpy at the base of the tower. Your progress is to go around
the tower to the ladder and start the wall climbing. Instead of just killing
the harpy here, walk over to the ladder on the wall. Get the harpy to be
between you and the ladder and then start beating on the harpy. Use Plume of
Prometheus (Square, Square, Triangle) to kill it. The Triangle hit knocks it
up in the air, and usually kills it. The trick is to kill the harpy above the
top of the ladder. When it dies, it screams and falls down and hits the top of
the ladder and then bounces back up and gets stuck in this bounce. The whole
while it is bouncing, it showers you in red orbs.

Alternatively, if the Square, Square, Triangle combo isnt working for you,
Then use a light square hit to knock the Harpy to the ground so that it falls
To the foot of the ladder. Now rush the Harpy and basically push it into the
Ladder. As you do this, Kratos will start trying to climb the ladder. Once
You start climbing the ladder, sit still and wait for the Harpy to revive and
Try to fly away. As soon as it revives, press up on the left control stick
And hit X so that Kratos swings upward and hits the Harpy. Do this till the
Harpy dies and the glitch should start. When the glitch starts, back down
Off the ladder and simply stand there.

Once the glitch is running, just let Kratos stand there, put your controller
down, and walk away. Come back in a few minutes to see your massive amount
of orbs. Max amount of orbs is 199 full red bars which is 59,700 orbs.

It takes about 10 minutes to get the max 199 full bars.

----------------------IMPORTANT-----------------------

ONCE YOU GET THIS TO WORK, BACKTRACK AND FIND A SAVE

----------------------IMPORTANT-----------------------

If you die during the next part, you will lose your orbs since that glitch
Harpy Is the checkpoint. So SAVE your game before continuing.

If you kill the Harpy accidentally, since that harpy that you are trying to
glitch is your checkpoint, then go back to the bridge and find the break and
jump off and die. You'll restart and be facing that Harpy again.

To sum up:
Get close to the ladder to lure it over, double jump over the harpy to get it
between you and the ladder, use PoP ([], [], /\). Stay on the ground as you
do this (don't jump up), PoP will still hit the Harpy. PoP doesn't kill it
(only three hits in that combo), but it stuns the crap out of it and it falls
to the ground. Run toward it and push it hard against the wall and then hit
square once or twice and it will die and pop up to the top of the ladder.
Backup one step and then let the red orb shower begin.

So, if/when you try it, if at first you don't succeed, jump off the bridge
and try again!

It should be noted that the higher the level of your blades, or if you're
playing with a costume that increases power, or you are playing on easy, you
can easily kill the Harpy with only a few hits, so you should use a light
square attack to knock the Harpy to the ground and then rush the Harpy and
push it into the ladder. As it tries to get up and fly, hit it again to kill
it and have it bounce on top of the ladder.

Many other users here at GameFaqs have gotten this glitch to work, and have
posted their own strategies and tips.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
From: MysticTortoise
Just wanted to add that when you push it to the wall, you should grab the
ladder (thus you start climbing) and then hit up and square to kill it.

At least that's how it worked for me, when you jump on the ladder it basically
sets it down on top of the ladder, so all you have to do is kill it...

-----------------------------------------------------------------
From: agothoth
From my experience you should do it gently. The harpy should be at its max
life. That means you never hit it before. When the harpy is between you and
the ladder hit it with Plume of Prometheus " [],[],/\ " then the harpy is
stunned. When you walk toward it during the harpy in its stunned duration you
might overstepped the harpy.

So you have to watch carefully. When you see the harpy is slightly airborne
move toward it. It is the best time to get the harpy impaled between you and
the ladder. If you little too late the harpy fly of. If the timing is
right you will impale the harpy between you and the ladder, by this time just
just press [] while simultaneously moving your left analog stick steadily so
Kratos could move up the ladder. After that the harpy should be killed by now
and giving out red orbs but its corpse could not reach the ground because it
is bounced between Kratos at the ladder and the cliffs wall. So the dead
harpy will keep on bouncing for eternity while giving out red orbs.

If the first Plume of Prometheus " [],[],/\ " that is used to stunned gives
minimal damage then you have to hit [],[]. to make sure the harpy is killed.

The minimal position to stay is just above the second step of the ladder/the
wood. Any lower than that the bouncing harpy will knock Kratos down and the
harpy corpse will disappear definitely. Too high the bouncing harpy will
jump over Kratos thus disappear.

There is only one harpy prone to be between Kratos and the ladder. There is
other but forcing the other will be quite time consuming or a little bit of
skill.

My advice, when you reach the bridge just go all the way to the ladder
Without killing any harpies and stand in front of it in while holding block
button. At this position Kratos back is facing the ladder. There are two
harpies positioned at this area. The nearest to the ladder will attack. The
harpy will attack in two ways. The fire bomb dive which rarely or maybe
never place the attacking harpy behind Kratos that is between Kratos and
the ladder. The other is the claw lunge or in other word the harpy just
attack using its claw and gives Kratos no harm at all if he is in block mode.
If the harpy attack using this way it usually positioned the harpy behind
Kratos after its claw lunge. If this happen turn Kratos around and do the
above guide.

If you accidentally killed the harpy and feel lazy to force another harpy
To be in the aforementioned position. Just jump of the bridge and it will
restart at the point where Kratos is just in front of the ladder and this only
works if you don't do any backtracking from this area or first time reaching
this area.

Hope this piece of advice worked and one thing, i played the NTSC version.

From: Kizty
Back to topic, I followed agothoth's way. I found it easier. Basically have
Your back facing the ladder and block. Wait for the harpy to swoop down on
you and since you're blocking it will go through you and now you have it
between you and the ladder. Now instead of using PoP just jump and press
/\ /\ (triangle twice) and that will knock the harpy to the ground (this
works well on normal difficulty and I had BoC lvl 4). And the rest is
history (i.e. push it into the ladder, climb the first 2 steps and hopefully
the harpy is now stuck on the top of the ladder, kill it by pressing up
and []). Note that when the harpy goes through you you'll automatically face
the harpy, which is at this phase should be between you and the ladder, so
you can do the jump combo right away.

From: Ishtar Dark
FINALLY, I pulled it off... and under 15 minutes. Woot!
I just turned round, which made the harpy turn, too. When she was between me
and the stairs, I went towards her, and when I pushed her against the ladder,
I bammed her with light [] attacks and she died. I was still holding the Left
Analog Stick up, so I immediately climbed the stairs and caused the glitch...
and I got 45 secs of it on digital camera... now I want to upload it
somewhere for all you non-believers... meh...

From: simboo
Ok, I thought I would share this information with those who haven't been
Able to "knock" the harpy but who killed it instead.

1- Get the Harpy between you and the ladder. It doesn't matter how far from
the ladder you and harpy are, as long as the Harpy is between the ladder
and you.
2- Knock the Harpy with R1. It should fall on the ground closer to the
Ladder because of the impact.
3- Push the knocked Harpy towards the ladder and a bit more so it "climbs"
Up the ladder. Stop pushing until you just started to climb the ladder.
4- Kill the Harpy by pushing up with the left analog stick and "[]" (Square).
If done correctly, you should start getting your orbs.

Note: All these steps will happen fast but be patient. It took me 10-15 times
to figure it out. My blade was at level 4 and was too strong for the PoP
trick ([] [] ^). R1 worked like a charm for me.

Ok, besides this particular glitch, there is a way to get enough orbs to
max out everything you have much earlier in the game during the Temple of
the Oracle. During that chapter, you have to do the Harpy Puzzle by
blocking the infinitely re-spawning Harpies with the statues.

Here, block Both holes, and then pick one side and pull the statue back a
bit so that The Harpies can get out. They will come out 2 at a time.
Stand there and Use Medusas gaze to stone them. They will fall and be
crushed for a +30 Red orb bonus per stoned Harpy.

When using Medusas gaze, the higher you have this magic leveled up, the
faster it stones the harpies and the less magic it uses. Thus, the higher
The level of your Medusas Gaze the longer a full magic bar will last you.
A level 3 quick blast uses very little magic and can stone both Harpies at
once as they crawl out of the hole.

There are Blue Orb chests in this room that will allow you to replenish
your magic. Once those chests are empty, you can backtrack all the way
back to where you obtained the magic of Zeus Fury. The chest next to
where you get Zeuss Fury will re-fill itself infinitely. So, backtrack
all the way back, open that chest 3 times for a full magic bar, and then
return to stone some more Harpies. Keep repeating until youve gotten
all the orbs you want.

This way is much slower that the Harpy Glitch, but it is a much earlier
opportunity.

Finally, it should be noted that once you have maxed out everything you
have (Blades of Chaos, Blade of Artemis, All Magic), then the game will
stop giving you Red Orb Chests and will replace all Red GLOWING chests
with Blue Chests which means a LOT more magic for you during the game.
The UNLIT chests will still give you Red Orbs IF you have found all
Gorgon Eyes and Phoenix Feathers.
