This is a specific guide that details all wanzer parts and their specs. This will not document any material pertaining to the game's missions and whatnot so please don't send any questions to my e-mail address about that. WANZER SETUP [WNZR] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This section documents wanzer setup details and issues...self-explanatory. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BASICS [BASE] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WANZER BUILDING --------------- Wanzer building can be pretty complex, but it's a pretty simple process. In a nutshell, you find parts and equip them onto your current wanzer. Only six wanzers can be built at any given time. Any parts not used by the wanzers are put in the Stock List. Parts can be bought from the Hangar in the Supply List when it the option is available. A lot of other stuff can be done with wanzers. You can Remodel parts once that option becomes available, add color onto your wanzer, buy full wanzer sets, or even look at your beautiful machine in View Mode. Anyways, the basics of wanzer building are as follows: 1. Buy parts from the Hangar at Supply List or win them in elsewhere. 2. Change/equip parts on a pilot's wanzer. 3. Remodel parts if necessary. 4. Play with minor details such as naming wanzer or changing its colors. 5. One complete wanzer ready to go! Setup - goes into Setup Menu. This is for wanzer setup. Items - goes into Item Menu. This is for equipping items on an Item Backpack. Coloring - goes into Color Menu. This is for giving the wanzer colors and paint schemes. Name - goes into Enter Name. This is for entering a different name for the wanzer. View Specs - goes into Parts & Weapons. This is for viewing the parts of the wanzer and to access View Mode. Full Sets - goes into Full Sets. This is for buying pre-made wanzers at a set price. Wanzer Number - the currently selected wanzer going by numerical order. Wanzer Name - the name of the wanzer. Pilot Name - the name of the pilot. Weight/Power - the difference between the unit's Weight and the amount of power generated by it via Output. RP - the amount of Remodeling Points currently in possession. CP - the amount of Credit Points currently in possession. Basically, as long as a wanzer's Output is not exceeded by its Weight stat, you can continue equipping or Remodeling parts on it. Melee attacks can be strengthened by having free Weight upwards to a 100% maximum increase. For example, if your Striker's current Weight/Power ratio is say 500/750, that means their melee attacks will have an increase of 50% to its Attack Power. Free Weight is no concern for non-Striker types so fill it as much as possible to the max. Anyone who has played past Front Mission games will be familiar with this system. Front Mission 5 also sports a Sort option. It is quite handy to use and information on it can be found below: Part Sort Guide: All Categories -------------- Name - sorts parts based on its name. Model Rank - sorts parts based on the highest Rank. Weight - sorts parts based on the lowest Weight. Backpack, Item, and Weapons --------------------------- Type - sorts parts based on different part types. FRAME PARTS: All Frame Parts --------------- HP - sorts parts based on the highest HP. Defense - sorts parts based on the highest Defense. Body ---- Output - sorts parts based on the highest Output. Evasion - sorts parts based on the highest Evasion. Area Effect - sorts parts base on the highest Area Effect. PART DEFINITIONS ---------------- For Frame Parts: HP - how much a part can endure attacks. Output - the amount of power needed to use a wanzer and its equipped loadout. Weight - how much the part weighs, acting as a counterbalance to Output. Defense - how much defense a part has to reduce attack damage. Accuracy - the accuracy of the selected arm, used to enhance equipped weapon accuracy. Evasion - the evasion of the Body and Leg part. Leg Type - the type of leg a Leg part is: 2 Leg, 4 Leg, and Hover. Move - the amount of spaces a Leg part can move. Punch Damage - the amount of damage an Arm part equipped without a weapon can inflict. (Hard Blow) Punch Accuracy - the accuracy of the Hard Blow part. Special Feature - any unique qualities of the part. For Support Parts: ALL BACKPACKS ------------- Type - the type of Backpack the part is. Weight - how much the Backpack weighs. Range - range needed to use Backpack functions. ALL EXCEPT TURBO ---------------- AP Cost - how much AP is expended to use various Backpack functions. ITEM AND TURBO-RELATED ---------------------- Output - how much a Backpack can give more overall Output. Item Space - how much items an Item Backpack can hold. Item Size - the type of item an Item Backpack can hold. REPAIR-RELATED -------------- Repair - how much HP can be healed with the Repair function. All Repair - how much HP all parts can be healed with the All Repair function. Restore - how much HP can be restored to a broken part with the Restore function. Remove - how much EMP status damage can be removed with the Remove function. EMP-RELATED ----------- EMP Accuracy - the effectiveness of EMP attacks in percentage. Status Attack - how many status attacks can be inflicted with an EMP Backpack. Armor Coating - how many armor EMP Backpacks can give to a wanzer. SENSOR-RELATED -------------- Sensor Range - range the Sensors operate at. For Attacking Parts: ALL WEAPONS ----------- Type - the type of weapon the part is. Weight - how much the weapon weighs. Attack - the damage a weapon can inflict, the 'x' sign implies how many times the weapon can hit. Range - the minimum and maximum range a weapon can be used. Accuracy - weapon accuracy that correlates with maximum - minimum range. AP Cost - how much AP is expended to use the weapon. Special Feature - any unique qualities of the part. BAZOOKA-RELATED --------------- Blast Range - the affected radius from a BZ's explosion damage. LAUNCHER-RELATED ---------------- Area Effect - the affected radius from a GR/RK's round damage. Ammo - the amount of ammo an MS/GR/RK part has. SHIELD-RELATED -------------- Damage Cut - how much damage is reduced with the SD (in percent). Damage Limit - amount of damage reduced with the SD from attack damage exceeding a certain value. One last note is that the "perfect wanzer" concept doesn't exist in Front Mission 5. Any Armored Core players here should be well aware of what it means. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PART SKILLS [PSKL] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A new concept to the Front Mission series are part skills. In addition to the usual statistical upgrades, wanzers may often gain special abilities that boost its performance further. Weapon performance can also be boosted to perform better through skills as well. A new factor, Set Bonus, allows for exclusive skills if a wanzer's frame consists of the same part set. In other words, there is a greater balance of part quality found here than in past Front Mission installments. Damage Cut + Raises Damage Cut value. Dead Shot Fixed amount of rounds hit with 100% Accuracy. Missile Defense Lowers damage from Missile weapons. Artillery Defense Lowers damage from Grenade/Rocket weapons. First Always attack first in any battle phase. Remove Shield Limit Removes attack restriction on shield. Job Experience + Raises Job Experience value. Damage Limit + Raises Damage Limit value. Minimum Range - Lowers minimum firing range of weapon. Penetration Can hit multiple targets in the line of fire. Auto Reload Automatically reloads weapon once out of ammo. Sensor Range + Raises Sensor Range value. SB Auto Repair Fixed HP amount recovered to all parts per turn. SB Defense + Raises Defense value of all parts. SB Max HP + Raises maximum HP value of all parts. Additional Notes: Anti skills apply to all parts regardless of how many frame parts have them equipped. Melee Critical's effect also applies to the Shoulder weapon if one is equipped on the Arm part that has the skill. Attack + applies only in the case that there is no Shield equipped or the skill Remove Shield Limit is in effect. Repair + only applies to the part it is equipped on. Dead Shot automatically transfers damage to active parts if destroyed parts are hit. First works with the stronger weapon going first if more than one weapon in a battle phase has it. Auto Reload's priority with Reload items is based off of item position, with those equipped at the top used first. Sensor Range + only works for the weapon that has it. Auto Repair, Defense +, and Max HP + are all Set Bonus skills. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS(FAQ) [TFAQ] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Q: How come I can't create more wanzers than 6 at a time? A: The wanzers currently available are used by the 6 pilots occupying the active squad slots. No other wanzer can be made, but pilots can be switched out. Q: I'm running low on CP to buy parts! Any suggestions? A: There's a few that can be used. First, sell off any unused parts. Second, use Remodeling to curb the costs. Third, play a mission. Fourth, win some battles in the Arena. Q: I'm looking for an Assault-type wanzer. What wanzer models best work with this Job? A: The base models of Frost, Gust, Warlus, and Zenith are all designated as Assault units. Q: What specs are imporant to Assault-type wanzers? A: Balance is often the most important aspect of Assault-type wanzers. One needs good HP, Defense, Accuracy, MV, and Evasion. Look for parts that don't exactly stand out in one area, such as Accuracy, and those that seem more in the middle. Q: I'm looking for a Gunner-type wanzer. What wanzer models best work with this Job? A: The base models of Recson, Kyojun, and Grille Sechs are all designated as Gunner units. Q: What specs are important to Gunner-type wanzers? A: Accuracy is the most important aspect of Gunner-type wanzers. Gunner-class weaponry often will benefit from Arms with high Accuracy above all else. A high Output is also needed to equip and use Gunner weapons so look for those as well. Q: I'm looking for a Jammer-type wanzer. What wanzer models best work with this Job? A: The base models of Uisk, Schakal, and Desmatz are all designated as Jammer units. Q: What specs are important to Jammer-type wanzers? A: Evasion is the most important aspect of Jammer-type wanzers. Since the ability to use EMP demands one to be at close-range, it is important to be able to evade attacks on a regular basis. A high Output is also needed for equipping an EMP-capable Backpack and spare weapon for attacks as well. Q: I'm looking for a Launcher-type wanzer. What wanzer models best work with this Job? A: The base models of Cheyenne, Enyo, and Luftrauber are all designated as Launcher units. Q: What specs are important to Launcher-type wanzers? A: Output is the most important aspect of Launcher-type wanzers. Launcher weapons are very heavy and often cannot be equipped on low Output Body parts for that reason. Since Launchers are unlikely to ever get into direct combat, you don't need to look for much else in the way of specs. Q: I'm looking for a Mechanic-type wanzer. What wanzer models best work with this Job? A: The base models of Eldos, Giza, and Crustacia are all designated as Mechanic units. Q: What specs are important to Mechanic-type wanzers? A: Defense is the most important aspect of Mechanic-type wanzers. Given that enemies are almost always bound to attack them first, having a durable unit helps a lot. A high Output is also needed to equip a Repair-capable Backpack, a shield, and a spare weapon for attacks. Q: I'm looking for a Striker-type wanzer. What wanzer models best work with this Job? A: The base models of Numsekar, Scintilla, and Grapple are all designated as Striker units. Q: What specs are important to Striker-type wanzers? A: HP is the most important aspect of Striker-type wanzers. Strikers have no means of ranged attacking and the friendly fire mechanic often makes them a favorite target for enemies. MV is also key to get within range and atttack for a Striker. Output is important for getting a power bonus, but this is usually corrected by a Turbo Backpack. Q: What wanzers are effective for multi-class purposes? A: Not many wanzers are capable of being used for more than one class, but the following is a guide on which wanzers can do just that: Crustacia - Mechanic and Jammer. Desmatz - Jammer, Launcher, and Gunner. Luftrauber - Launcher, Assault, and Gunner. Vyzov - Assault and Gunner. Glen's Zenith - Assault and Gunner. Q: Where do the parts that don't have full sets go well with? A: Most of them can work for more than one Job class to quite honest, but do whatever feels right for you. Q: How come the Hangar selection for wanzers is limited? A: The Hangar's function is to provide an adequate selection of wanzers for any player to use to progress in the game. The bulk of the wanzer parts are found in the Survival Simulator. Also, a number of parts are exclusive on Hard Mode. Q: When I tried to Remodel a part, I couldn't upgrade it anymore! Do you have any idea what's wrong? A: There are only two reasons why this can be happening. First, Remodeling is limited up to one Rank less than the maximum Rank buyable at the Hangar. This is automatically bypassed for those on Hard Mode. The second reason is that you ran into a fixed Remodeling situation. Basically, it is a quick type of Remodeling that enhances a part with wanzer skills or a higher stat boost. The drawback is that the part cannot be Remodeled any further. The best way to utilize this type of Remodeling is to do it on Rank 11 parts. This can be identified by a streak of orange marks on the left side in the Upgrade History chart. Q: What does the SB stand for? A: SB stands for Set Bonus. Q: How does Set Bonus take effect? Is it specific to one particular model or are there exceptions? A: Set Bonus takes into effect as long as a wanzer you have assembled uses parts from a certain wanzer set. For example, Zenith DV and Zeria are from the Zenith set since they are derivatives from the base model. However, a part such as Frost does not belong in the set and therefore Set Bonus cannot be enabled. Q: Is there a limit to how many parts and items can be stored in the Stock List? A: Yes, there is a limit on how many parts and items can be stored. The limit is 104 parts of any type for all categories. Hand and Shoulder weapons do not share one limit so you can store 104 Hand and 104 Shoulder weapons. Limits do include equipped parts and items so if you have 12 Hand weapons equipped, the Stock List stores only 92 Hand weapons. Q: Is it possible to have all parts and items know that I know of the limits? A: It depends on what you what to keep. You can collect all wanzers and have a bit of room to spare. For Backpacks and items, you should have more than enough room to stock what you want. There will be an issue with Hand weapons and stocking what weapons you wish to keep. For practical purposes, do not stock any weapons that can be bought from the Hangar and any derivatives that can result from the said Hangar weapons. It would be pointless to have some weapons that can be bought at the Hangar as opposed to those that you cannot. Shoulder weapons differ in that you can collect all of the weapons, but you also have enough room for a second copy of each part. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3. WANZER EQUIPMENT [WEQP] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Wanzer equipment data will be discussed here. Note that the specs data shown for all equipment are for their highest Rank. This includes the derivatives that branch off from a part set. Keep this in mind. For branching options, follow the Upgrade History charts provided. Read the following information for more details. The IDs on the chart represent where a certain part can be accessed or branches off. The < and > arrows denote branching opportunities. NORMAL REMODELING ------------------ If an arrow points to beside another ID, that means a part can branch off to that ID or stay on the same path. If the part stays on the original path, the chance to branch off will be closed. If the part branches off to the new ID, the part cannot go back to the original path. ID number 1 can opt to stay on the same path and ignore the upgrade to ID number 2. This is the same as the first example, but both lead to the same outcomes. BRANCH REMODELING ------------------ The second form of Remodeling is different in appearance than the examples above. If an ID does not continue on the same path in the next Rank, it means the part will branch off into one of two choices. The original ID cannot go back on the initial path because it disappears. Example 3: --------------- R |- - < 1 > - -| 1 |- 2 - - - 3 -| 2 |- 2 - - - 3 -| 3 --------------- The < and > arrow indicates that ID number 1 can branch to either ID number 2 or ID number 3 paths. ID number 2 now changes to ID number 2 or ID number 3 for the remainder of the part's upgrades. FIXED REMODELING ----------------- The last form of Remodeling is very easy to spot out. If an arrow that points to a new ID can be seen in the next few Ranks below, that is a situation of fixed Remodeling. This is the sign that this form of Remodeling is fixed. This also means that only one upgrade can be done and that is it for the part.
