Okay, before you do anything, you must have at least three characters at level 80, because Yiazmat is hard to beat, is strong, has a lot of HP, oh and did I mention hard to beat. -------------------------------------------------- 1. Gambits - Okay, before you start, you have to take some time out to set your Gambits, you know, the things that you probably didnt bother to use throughout the game, or just to set to heal and attack. Maybe you did use tham, but that isnt the point. Oh, and you should have all gambit slots, or you will probably lose because you wont notice that someone needs to be healed and then everyone else gets slaughtered because you werent paying attention. Be sure to turn your Gambits off when you leave the area to save. 1.1. There are some gambits that you should set on all of you characters, which are: Ally:Any=Arise Ally:Any=Chronos Tear Ally:Any=Remedy Ally:>70%=Curaja 1.2. Your melee fighter plays a very important role, because he/she will be dealing most of the damage. Here are some Gamibits to help fight. Self=Bravery Self=Beserk Enemy:Any=Attack 1.3. Your most important character, will probably be one of your support characters, so their Gambits are very important. Set half to one and give the other half to the other support character. Give Dispel, Bubble, and Attack to both though. Enemy:Any=Dispel Ally:Any=Bubble Ally:Any=Protectga Ally:Any=Hastega Ally:Any=Shellga Ally Status:Beserk=Bravery Ally Status:Beserk=Decoy Ally:Any=Float Enemy:Any=Attack 1.4. The order of your Gambits will be important, even with your Melee Fighter. 1.Ally:Any=Chronos Tear 2.Ally:Any=Arise 3.Ally:>70%=Curaja 4.Ally:Any=Remedy 5.Self=Bravery 6.Self=Beserk 7.Enemy:Any=Attack 1.5 Your supporting characters' Gambits, are vital to winning. So be sure to set them right. The /s are for the other support character. I split them so one will not be using all of his/her MP. You can set them in however way you choose though. 1.Ally:Any=Chronos Tear 2.Ally:Any=Arise 3.Ally:>70%=Curaja 4.Ally:Any=Remedy 5.Ally:Any=Bubble 6.Enemy:Any=Dispel 7.Ally:Any=Protectga/Hastega 8.Ally:Any=Shellga/Float 9.Ally Status:Beserk=Bravery/Decoy 10.Enemy:Any=Attack -------------------------------------------------- 2. Weapons - Okay, now that you have you gambits set, it is now time to find wepons. You should buy all the best weapons you can buy from shops, or the Bazaar. If you cant find them look at the other walkthroughs, I am sure that there is one that is made for weapon/armor/accessory locations, I dont remember where I got my weapons or what to sell in the bazaar to unlock them for purchase. 2.1 Let us start with the supporting characters. Weapons that are good for them are Ranged weapons. The Gastophetes works very well. So does the Formalhaut w/Dark Shot. Or you could do what I did and use the Golden Axe for one and the Whale Whisker for the other, then switch and give them both a Gastophetes or some other ranged weapon. 2.2. The best weapon for your Melee fighter would be a Ninja Sword. This is because it has a higher chance for hitting combos than other weapons(like Katana and Poles) and they all have the Dark element, which Yiazmat is weak to. An other option would be to use a Katana(Masamune). -------------------------------------------------- 3. Armor - Your defense against Yiazmat. You will need some of the best Armor in the game to help you defeat Yiazmat. 3.1. You will need to obtain three Maximillians or Dragon Armor, because they provide good defence. Genji Armor could also work. I think you get Maximillians from the ugly green winged imps in the Necrol of Nabudis, Dragon Armor in Balfonheim, and you get the Genji Armor from Gilgamesh. 3.2. Go to Rabanastre and purchase three Windbreakers. These will cut off a good amount of damage taken from Yiazmat's area attack, Cyclone. 3.3. Mirror Mail, a very good piece of armor. You will only need one for your Melee Fighter, so you do not have to take away his Accsessory. This will give that character a constant Reflect until it is unequipped, and will serve a good purpose in the battle against Yiazmat. -------------------------------------------------- 4. Accsessories - Little items, that can help give you the edge in battle. 4.1. Bubble Belts are good for boss battles like this one. Get three from the Muthru Bazaar. If you are not at the rank that allows you to get these, why are you reading this? These items will give you a Bubble effect, which double the amount of HP you have, allowing you a better chance of surviving. 4.2. You will need two Ruby Rings to help you, they have the same effect as the Mirror Mail and are for your support characters. 4.3. You do not actually have to buy one, but it is good for a support character because it only has you use 50% of the MP you normally use to cast a spell. 4.4. Genji Gloves will work very good with you Melee Fighter boosting his/her already boosted chance combos. 4.5. A Cat-Ear Hood is an option if you do not have Genji Gloves, it will make your attacks faster like with Haste letting you attack more. -------------------------------------------------- 5. You need many types of magicks and tecknicks. You will need all of the benificial Green Magick, Bubble, Decoy, Syphon, and Beserk (Arcane), all White magick. Some helpful Tecknicks would be Sheer and Expose to lower his defenses so you can do more damage. -------------------------------------------------- 6. Yiazmat is very strong. He is around level 73, that alone makes him sound tough. He has over 100 attack power, and his defenses are over 35. He has the most HP out of any boss in the game. Even more than the Hell Wyrm's 9,000,000 and Omega Mk.'s 10,000,000, making theirs look like nothing. Yiazmat has over 50,000,000 HP. This will be a hard fight, and may take only one day or even a week to beat. Be sure to save after you take about 7 health bars from him, so you will not lose the time and hard work you put in. -------------------------------------------------- 7. Strategy - Here is where the fun begins, your battle with Yiazmat is starting. You may want to cast all spells before you enter and fight Yiazmat. 7.1. When you enter you will see Yiazmat and he should have some status effects on him, Dispel those quickly. Be sure your Gambits are turned on. Have your Melee Fighter get Beserk, Decoy, and Bravery status, after that, use Expose a couple of times, then start hammering Yiamat and watch you Melee Fighter for negative status effects and low health. Yiamats regular attacks have a chance of instantly KOing a party member so watch out for that. Also, look in the upper left corner to see if Yiazmat is preparing a Cyclone, if he is, quickly, go to the menu and change everyones armor to Windbreakers then after the damage is done change it back. Keep doing this until you get him halfway. 7.2. When Yiazmat gets down to halfway, he begins to use a move called Death Strike. As the name implies, if a character is hit by this they will only survive if the attack misses. Yiazmat will begin to use Rake and it also has a chance of KO. Also keep watching to see if a Cyclone is being readied. If a character falls, another should respond to the Arise Gambit you set, or you can use it maually. 7.3. When he gets to his last 10 bars or so, he will begin to use Growing Threat, which would increase his level to level 140!!! His Defenses and Strength rise also making him harder. No here is the hard part, you may have to run out more often, but his health does not restore when you leave (you will because he will KO you and you other characters faster). Now you have to change your all of you party members Accsessories to Bubble Belts. Now, every time you go back inside, Yiazmat will cast Growing Threat giving you a few seconds to attack, then follows up with a Cyclone. If you think you are going to lose, go and run out of the area. 7.4. Now, he should have around five bars of health left. He does the smae thing as before, but now when you enter, after he use Cyclone, he will cast Reflectaga, so after the Cyclone is over with, switch you Melee Fighters Windbreaker to the Mirror Mail, and your support members Bubble Belts with Ruby Rings and their armor back to what it was. BE CAREFUL! IF YOU WERE TO CAST RENEW WITH REFLECT INFLICTED, IT WOULD COMPLETELY HEAL YIAZMAT!!! (Now that wouldnt be good.) After he has cast Reflectaga, you can change your Armor and Accsessories back. Then start hitting him again. 7.5. Hooray! Yiazmat is almost dead. Keep hitting him hard, and taking his HP down. When he gets about one fourth of his last health bar left finish him off with a big quickening chain, use Zodiarks Final Eclipse (if you have him and know how), or keep hitting him. -------------------------------------------------- 8.
