1. INTRODUCTION G100
===============================================================================
Hi, RavenX2 here. This is my second FFX-2 guide. This guide consists of how to
find Via Infinito, how to beat it, and includes how to overcome the insane
bosses stashed away in the depths of the dungeon. So, let\'s get started...
===============================================================================
2. VIA INFINITO? G200
===============================================================================
When you start Chapter 5 you are aboard the Celcius and are required to journey
into one of the holes in any of the 6 Chamber of the Fayths. After selecting a
route (it doesn?t matter which) you end up in a little cave where you fight
Dark Shiva and a saving point appears. You have a choice to either keep going
and end up fighting Vegnagun and beating the game, or you can Board the Airship
and complete 15 different side quests. To get to Via Infinito, you just have to
fly to Bevelle and walk into the right room of Bevelle Temple to find that the
Kindeguardians have found a secret underground dungeon. Simply save your game
and proceed into the dungeon via the blue elevator.
===============================================================================
3. WHAT\'S THE POINT? G300
===============================================================================
Via Infinito is a huge dungeon consisting of 100 floors. There are bosses every
20 floors, and progressively harder enemies and cloisters as you journey
further down. Here?s the basic layout of the dungeon:
FLOOR(S) |BOSS AT END | ITEM(S) OBTAINED
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
0 |Elder Drake |Crimson Sphere No.6
1-20 |Aranea |Crimson Sphere No.8
21-40 |Black Elemental |3 Bracers and Cat Nip(2nd best item in game)
41-60 |Concherer |Nothing
61-80 |Chac |Nothing
81-100 |Paragon + Trema |Iron Duke (BEST item in game)
As you travel deeper and deeper into Via Infinito, you will start asking
yourself what?s the point!? Not only does completing Via Infinito contribute
some percentage to your game completion, but also allows you to obtain the two
best items in the game:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CAT NIP: Grants a party member ?SOS ?????, which really means that whenever
that party member is in yellow health, they ALWAYS take off 9999. If you give a
gunner this accessory, Trigger Happy isn?t so bad anymore, now is it?
IRON DUKE: The ultimate accessory. Boosts all stats of the equipped party
member by 100!!! You know Crystal Bangle which boosts Max HP by 100%? How about
Power Gloves which boost Attack by 50? Just imagine...The ultimate character
with perfect stats.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not only do you get percentage and these sweet items, but you have to complete
this dungeon if you ever want to get the Mascot Dressphere which is the
ultimate dressphere (you can learn MOST enemy abilities with it!). At the end
of the dungeon is the hardest enemy in the game, so if you think you\'re up for
it, proceed to the first floor...
*****************************************************************************
*NOTE: If you ever want to save your game in the middle of the dungeon, find*
*a blue elevator (you might have to kill some enemies first) and teleport *
*back to the entrance. Don?t worry, when you go back to the blue evlevator *
*again, you?ll be teleported back to where you left off. *
*****************************************************************************
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*****ITEM RESTRICTION***** G350
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It may sound like you can just equip a Charm Bangle and walk your way through,
but too bad. Any items that restrict you from encounters or anything that
basically allows you to cheat through the dungeon is restricted and is rendered
useless.
===============================================================================
4. FLOOR 0 G400
===============================================================================
As soon as you step off the blue platform, run to the middle of the room to be
encountered by an Elder Drake.
REFER TO BOSS GUIDE (B200).
An old man will have a chat with you, and the Kindeguardians will run away.
Pick up the Crimson Sphere No.6 and proceed into the hole.
===============================================================================
5. FLOORS 1-20 G500
===============================================================================
In floors 1-20, you will encounter many new fiends. The most re-occurant is the
Tonberry. There are other fiends, but they shouldn\'t be a problem. The only
thing to look out for is the Elder Drake (yeah! that boss you fought at the
beginning!), but don\'t worry, because if you don\'t touch him, you won\'t have to
fight him! Check out the \"Monster Evasion Maps\" Section in this guide (M200).
Sooner or later you\'ll get to floor 20. Save your game and proceed to the boss
Aranea.
REFER TO BOSS SECTION (B300).
Now jump into the hole and proceed to Floors 21-40.
===============================================================================
6. FLOORS 21-40 G600
===============================================================================
Not much tougher than Floors 1-20. No new enemies, just new maps. Elder Drakes
become more common. Check out the \"Monster Evasion Maps\" Section in this guide
(M200). It\'ll take a while to get down to Floor 40, but it\'s worth it. Get
ready to fight Black Elemental.
REFER TO BOSS SECTION (B400).
Now you have Cat Nip, so equip it to a Gunner and set her abilities to learn:
Trigger Happy Lvl. 2 and Trigger Happy Lvl. 3.
===============================================================================
7. FLOORS 41-60 G700
===============================================================================
Here\'s where it starts to get a bit tougher. Mega Tonberry\'s are introduced,
and the maps start getting longer and more annoying. The enemies aren\'t TOO
bad, but atleast you have Cat Nip + Trigger Happy! Check out the \"Monster
Evasion Maps\" Section in this guide (M300) to learn how to avoid all Mega
Tonberry\'s. After the long perilous trek of 18 floors, you\'ll be at floor 59.
Notice how I said 59, not 60. Stopping at 59 and saving it will give you the
advantage, because then you can use a whole floor to lower your Gunner\'s HP
so she can use Trigger Happy right off the bat. If you accidentally already
went to floor 60, you can still beat him, but it will be a bit tougher (you
have Concherer kill her and then use a Pheonix Down on her).
REFER TO BOSS GUIDE (B500).
===============================================================================
FLOORS 61-80 G800
===============================================================================
This is where it starts getting tough. Elder Drakes are now normal enemies, and
the maps are really long, and every floor is just plain annoyingly tough! I
say just do 5 floors per \"sit\" and stop and play another game. This is the
section of the dungeon where my \"Monster Evasion Maps\"(M100) section will help
out. Dodging those Mega Tonberry\'s can be tough. Eventually you\'ll make it down
to Floor 80 to fight a really tough boss-Chac.
REFER TO BOSS GUIDE (B600).
And what do you get for beating Chac!? NOTHING! Save your game and continue on
through the seemingly endless dungeon...
===============================================================================
FLOORS 81-100 G900
===============================================================================
Aw man! The difficulty just won\'t stop, will it? Floors 81-100 are the worst
ever. Normal enemies are ANY boss from FFX or FFX-2 you\'ve ever fought!! But
not nly are the enemies alone, but sometimes they\'re put together in a battle.
Go head and be a sissy by running away from every battle. It\'s alright! Why
die? ot ALL the battles are tough, because remember-you have Cat Nip and a TH
Lvl.3. Running away is the best thing to do, but sometimes you CAN\'T run away!
Ex:What happens if you\'re ambushed by a Black Elemental and an Elder Drake?
Black Elemental will cast Ultima before you even have a chance to Escape! Don\'t
worry, there IS a solution. While traveling throughout Floors 81-100, equip
each girl with a Speed Bracer/Sprint Shoes. That way, you\'ll always have a
chance to escape. After many hours of walking and fighting, you\'ll arrive at
Floor 100. Save your game and prepare for the two toughest battles in the
game...PARAGON AND TREMA!!!
REFER TO BOSS GUIDE (B600/B700)
Good luck...
===============================================================================
10. MONSTER EVASION MAPS M100
===============================================================================
Here are some handy-dandy ways to avoid those annoying monsters so that you can
proceed down the dungeon faster (these took me 4EVER!).
|----------------------------------------------------------|
|NOTE: If a map is ever too hard, just go the blue elevator|
|and come back down for a new map. |

SOLUTION: This map is identical to Map #1, except in this map, an Elder Drake
lurks at the end near the exit. At the end there is a pit where you would
normally jump down and probably encounter this fiend, but if you jump down to
the side, you\'ll evade him, probably saving your life.

| Jump Down |
|----------------------------------------|
| BOTTOM FLOOOR |
|---------------|
SOLUTION: This one looks a bit confusing, but it\'s not too bad. At the start of
the map, head south to jump down onto the bottom floor. On the bottom floor,
run north jumping over ledges and such to meet up with a Tiny Tonberry at the
end. Fight him and proceed onto the lift which will bring you to the end of
the Top Floor. Go right and onto the ledge to save and leave, or run south down
square floor chunks to find the switch and a Mega Tonberry. To avoid him, don\'t
even get on the same \"floor\" as him. Instead, just jump on the little square
chunks until you see the screen flash white. Head back and jump up the ledge on
the left this time to leave.
2. SOLUTION: This one I can only explain. Drawing a map would only confuse
you. The map I\'m talking about is the one that has the four ways over and
over again. To avoid all battles, just go right, left, left, then left
again. You will have to slip past a Mega Tonberry though, so always \"hug\"
the wall as you walk past him. Also, you can avoid the Tiny Tonberry at the
end by just walking left of him and exiting.
3. |------------------|

| |
| |
| |
|------------------|
SOLUTION: This map is really easy. Basically, just go into each little section
and step on the square switch. To avoid the Tonberry\'s, hug the wall and run.
Fight the Tiny Tonberry if you want to, because he\'s so easy! Once you\'ve hit
all the switched, head back to where you started and jump in the hole.

SOLUTION: Geez...this map was hard to make. It\'s also pretty hard to
understand,huh? Basically, you start off on a long pathway. Head north for a
while going up and down slopes and inclines until you reach the part with the
Mega Tonberry. Stand still for a while until the Mega Tonberry is turned around
walking away form you. Now is your chance to jump off and run the path to your
left (unless you want to go save) to bring you to another long pathway. There
are two different ways to beat this part. Look at the map-see how there are two
Tiny Tonberry\'s nad one Mega Tonberry? Well,you can either kill the two Tiny
Tonberry\'s to make the Mega Tonberry disappear, or you can just kill the Mega
Tonberry and make him disappear that way. Either way you get through.

MT=Mega Tonberry
SOLUTION: This is the easiest map in the whole dungeon. All you have to do is
press R1/L1 to find the section with the Save Point Elevator and run to the
section opposite of it. You\'ll never encounter a Mega Tonberry if you never
encounter a Tiny Tonberry. Don\'t get confused just because 2 TT\'s are walking
and the other is not. Just hit the switch and fall into the hole in the middle.
**Yah! We\'re done with the maps! On to the Bosses!**

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A.Elder Drake B200
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HP:38,500
MP:135
Level:65
Species:Dragon
Boss of Floor: 1
Elder Drake should give you no trouble, even though he does have 40,000 HP.
Basically, turn two of your girls into Berserkers and have them learn the
ability \"Counterattack\". Have the third girl learn Curage as a White Mage. Go
buy a White Lore accessory from O\'aka in Macalania, and equip it to the third
girl who should be a Berserker with \"Counterattack\" as well. Have everybody
equip a Shining Bracer (Auto-Protect) and start the battle. Throughout the
whole battle, never attack-just heal. Use Mega Potions/Pheonixes if you must,
but save them if at all possible. The battle will only take a couple of minutes
at tops.
Items Obtained: Crimson Sphere No.6
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B.Aranea B300
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HP:18,280
MP:178
Level:52
Species:Hermit Crab
Boss of Floor: 20
Definitely the easiest boss in Via Infinito, with only 20,000 HP. This giant is
going down. Once again, the Berserker?s \"Counterattack\" will come in handy
here.Use the same strategy as Elder Drake.
Items Obtained: Crimson Sphere No.8
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C.Black Elemental B400
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HP:9,999
MP:2,380
Level:88
Species:Elemental
Boss of Floor: 40
Don?t be fooled by this guy?s low HP. At the start of battle, Black Elemental
will cast Ultima and kill all of your characters right up front. The ONLY way
to avoid this is to make your three characters Berserkers/Dark Knights/Some
other strong Dressphere and just keep attacking. Ultima is NOT an elemental
magic, so it CANNOT be reflected/dodged. Not even Shell will work here. You
just have to keep attacking him until he dies.
*******************************************************************
* NOTE: If you have a Songstress who has learned \"Magical Masque\" *
*(you must obtain the key item \'Magical Dances Vol.II first), the *
* party wlill be IMMUNE to all magic attacks including Ultima. *
*******************************************************************
Items Obtained: 3 Bracers and CAT NIP!!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D.Concherer B500
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HP:343,280
MP:170
Level:96
Species:???
Boss of Floor: 60
Nope, that?s no mistake. Concherer really does have 343,280 HP!!! That sounds
like a lot, but guess what!? You have Cat Nip now! Basically, have a gunner
learn Trigger Happy Lvl.2 and then Lvl. 3, and then you?re unstoppable! Before
the battle, use Cloister #59 to get your gunner?s HP down to yellow and level
up if necessary. As soon as the battle starts, just Trigger Happy away and
he?ll be dead within 1 or 2 Trigger Happy?s. But do watch out for his Megaton
Press which takes away about 6000-7000 on one character, and Gunk which
reduces a character?s MP to 0. But if you have Ragnarok, an accessory which
allows a character to cast magic w/o the need of MP, you?ll be fine.
Concherer?s regular physical attacks take off 4000-5000ish, so be prepared to
use Pheonix Downs and Life a lot. NOTE: Never use Life on the gunner equipped
with Cat Nip. Instead,
just use a Pheonix Down to keep her health in yellow.
Items Obtained: Diddly Squat. =(
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
E.Chac B600
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HP:437,850 Oversouled HP:459,743
MP:820
Level:98
Species:Giant Gucumatz
Boss of Floor:60
This is the one boss in Via Infinito that NEEDS to be Oversouled for difficulty
purposes. So, when you face him, if he isn?t already Oversouled, go to Mushroom
Rock Road or Bikanel Desert and fight 10-11 Gucumatz?s. A Gucumatz looks just
like a Basilisk from FFX, so maybe you?ll remember him...
Now that Chac is Oversouled, he will be MUCH easier because he doesn?t use the
attack called ?Heaven?s Cataract? which takes off 12-13 THOUSAND off of each
character! You can only have up to 9999 HP! What?s up with that!? So anyways,
you will never have to worry about that move if he is Oversouled. BUT, he still
uses the move Stony Glare (you know, the one where people get petrified), which
is IMPOSSIBLE to dodge even if you are equipped with a Stoneproof accessory. So
how do you beat this menace? Trigger Happy Lvl. 3 + Cat Nip + REALLY GOOD LUCK
+ fast pointer finger. Do remember that this boss has 460,000 HP, so if you can
hit an average of 18 9,999?s through Trigger Happy Lvl. 3, you\'ll have to hit
him about 3-4 times without being killed! Chac?s regular attacks take off about
6 THOUSAND as well, so have your Pheonix Downs and Mega Pheonixes ready at
all times. Rememeber-NEVER use Life on the Cat Nip Weilder, just Phoeonix
Downs. Whenever a party member is stoned, have another player immediately
use a soft/ remedy (NOT ESUNA) on them, for if a full turn goes by and
the stoned member remains stoned, they will be gone for the rest of the
battle (not just dead!). So, as you can see, there are many aspects which
need to be considered here. Just do your best and try try again. As soon
as you beat Chac, immediately save and don\'t even joke abou proceeding-the
upcoming enemies are DEADLY.
Items Obtained: Nothing
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
F.Paragon B700
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HP:200,000
MP:9999
Level:99
Species:Samurai/Omega Weapon
Boss of Floor:100
Check out my other Walkthrough for Paragon and Trema (they\'re back to back).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
G.Trema B800
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HP:999,999
MP:999
Level:99
Species:Human-REALLY old man
Boss of Floor:100
Check out my other Walkthrough for Paragon and Trema (they\'re back to back).
For winning you?ll be rewarded with the Iron Duke, which as stated above,
raises all of the equipped member?s stats by 100!!! Now wasn?t that fun?
