|INTRODUCTION TO THIS WALKTHROUGH| (CT3)
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-

I originally bought this game to complete my collection
of Clock Tower games. Although I was very disappointed
to find that it was hardly anything like its predecessors
(thanks to Capcom), it was still a fairly good game. I
think it has many flaws, and that there are much better
games out there - I'd even convinced myself at one point
that I would never ever play Clock Tower 3 again. But then
I got over my immaturity. And here I am. I needed to write
a walkthrough for a game that people still actually play.
People still play this. Et voila.

This walkthrough should give you everything you need
to know about the game, and should help you through
any bits you're stuck on. I really hope that I can
help you, and if I don't, I'm incredibly sorry and
I'll try my best to improve my walkthrough - give
me an email and if you're polite, though not necessarily
formal, I will improve my walkthrough with your advice.
I won't answer emails that are intentionally rude. I will
delete them. Sorry, but that's how it is. I'm a very sensitive
girl.

Now, I'd like to say that I'm English, so the spellings and
some of the vocabulary in this guide may be different to
what you're used to. It's not really a big deal, but just
thought that I'd warn you.

I try to make my walkthroughs instructive and friendly.
I find it really boring when I read walkthroughs that
don't have any personality. I just hope that anything I
add doesn't annoy you.

Lastly, I'm writing this walkthrough on only my second
playthrough of the game, so I'm bound to miss things. Please
be gentle with me if you're going to correct parts of the
walkthrough - I do take writing walkthroughs seriously
and I feel sad that I may have given my readers bad info.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and happy gaming!

|STORYLINE| (CT4)
~-~-~-~-~-~

From the back of the game case: "Yesterday, Alyssa was just
a normal schoolgirl: happy, cheerful and without a care in
the world. Today that will all change when she discovers
the truth about her family, cursed by the Servants of Evil
for generations. Today is the day that Alyssa will fight back.

"Can she free her family's trapped souls before the Servants
of Evil stop her? Who is the Dark Man and what is his connection
to the mysterious Clock Tower?

"Can Alyssa survive the horror before the clock strikes midnight?"

Here is my quick view of the storyline, which kind of shows you
what you'll be doing at the beginning of the game.

Alyssa, our protagonist, receives a letter from her mother. The
letter says that Alyssa must go into hiding until her 15th
birthday is over. She specifically tells Alyssa DO NOT RETURN
HOME TODAY. Like most girls in Survival Horror games, Alyssa
completely ignores good advice and goes home anyway. Well, I suppose
she hasn't seen her mother in 6 years (her mother sent her away to
a boarding school).

When she gets home, she discovers that her mother and her grandfather
have disappeared completely. A strange Dark Man greets her instead.
Alyssa decides to try and find out what has happened to her family.
Instead, she will find a lot, lot more than she had bargained for.

|CHARACTERS| (CT5)
~-~-~-~-~-~

Just so you know, these lists do not contain information on the
Subordinates. If you want to find out more about them, go to
the Subordinates section of this walkthrough.

ALYSSA HAMILTON: Our protagonist. She is 14 years old for the
majority of the game, and 15 by the time the game
                 finishes. She has strawberry-blonde/ginger hair
and wears her boarding school uniform (in England,
children wear uniform in school up until they have
                 finished compulsory education).

NANCY HAMILTON: Alyssa's "mum" (what we call our mothers here in
England, as opposed to "mom"). She has gone
                missing.

DICK HAMILTON: Alyssa's grandad. He is missing.

DENNIS OWEN: Alyssa's childhood friend. Has a crush on Alyssa.

PHILLIP: Alyssa's father. He died shortly after she was born.

--------------------------------------------------------------

This list of side-characters contains minor spoilers.

MAY NORTON: The twelve-year-old pianist who Sledgehammer killed
            straight after a piano competition.

WILLIAM NORTON: May's father. He had gone to war, meaning that he
was to be away during May's piano competition. He
died before she even played in the competition, and
she died before the news could reach her.

DOROTHY RAND: A blind woman. Corroder kills her and her son, who she
              lived with until her death.

ALBERT RAND: Dorothy's son. He was very protective of his mother - until
             the Corroder killed them both.

LINDA OWEN: Dennis' big sister, who is a missionary nurse in Africa.

LORD BURROUGHS: A British Lord, extremely sadistic. He enjoyed watching
people suffer and hired Scissorman and Scissorwoman to
do most of the work for him. Well...you'll find out all
                about him later!!

|SUBORDINATES AND PANIC| (CT7)
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-

O------------------------O
|---ABOUT SUBORDINATES---|
O------------------------O

Subordinates are the people who will chase you throughout the
game. Your aim is to run away from them, sometimes hiding until
they give up, until you get to the boss battle, in which you
must defeat them.

Subordinates are almost always on your tail. Hiding places are
almost useless, as after you lose the subordinate and exit your
hiding place to continue the journey, the Subordinate will just
appear again and begin chasing you. Your best bet is to dodge their
attacks as best as you can and just keep running, or you will find
yourself spending the entire game in, for instance, a toilet
cubicle.

Subordinates can be fended off briefly by splattering them with
Holy Water. For a few seconds, they will stand there in agony.
This gives you the chance to get away. Some Subordinates are
so quick that this doesn't give you much of a chance, though.
If you have a Sigil Stone then an enemy's attack will just miss
you, but afterwards you will lose the Sigil Stone and be just
as vulnerable. Invisibility Bands can be used to turn invisible
for a short amount of time, enabling you to maybe lose the enemy.

Hiding Places or Evasion Spots can be used to briefly lose
a Subordinate for a while. For more information, see the Hiding
Places and Evasion Spots section.

You will know if a Subordinate is chasing you because there will
be VERY recognisable music, they will probably say something and
you can hear them bash a door open very easily.

A Subordinate will appear either at a scripted event (a cutscene
or a specific part of the game where they will jump out to try
and make you jump), or after a short amount of time. Either way -
they are ALWAYS THERE.

O----------------------O
|---THE SUBORDINATES---|
O----------------------O

--------------
|SLEDGEHAMMER|
--------------

Real name: Robert Morris.
Weapon: Sledgehammer
Signature Quote: "Alyssaaaaaa!"
Once a stonecutter, "Sledgehammer" earned his nickname by bludgeoning
a child to death with his work tools on Christmas Eve, 1942. He has
had several victims since, and is your first Subordinate.

Sledgehammer is one of the slowest Subordinates, although he's still
faster than Alyssa. He uses a hammer to attack whenever he gets
close enough to you.

On Hard Mode, Sledgehammer has a spiked mace instead of a hammer,
and is a bit quicker than he is on normal mode. Also, one swipe at
you that misses will cause your panic metre to go up by over half,
and a hit with the hammer is enough to get you into panic mode.
In parts of the game where Sledgehammer appears unexpectly, Alyssa's
panic will rise to MAX, putting her in full panic mode.

Frequency of chasing: 3/5
Jumpiness of Subordinate's Chapter: 3/5
Difficulty of Subordinate's Chapter: 2/5
Difficulty of Subordinate's Boss Battle: 2/5

----------
|CORRODER|
----------

Real name: John Haigh.
Weapon: Acid nozzle
Signature Quote: "There she is!"
Inspired by a real serial killer of the same name, "Corroder" killed
his victims by either bathing them in acid or simply spraying them
with it until they died. He was alive in 1963. He is the second
Subordinate.

Corroder is slightly faster than Sledgehammer. He attacks by either
spraying acid at Alyssa (a slightly longer range attack) or kicking
her to the floor when she gets too close to him. Corroder chases
you for a smaller amount of time than the other Subordinates, as he
appears quite late into his own chapter.

On Hard Mode, Corroder has a jug of acid instead of a nozzle, and is
quite a lot quicker than he is on normal mode.

Frequency of chasing: 2/5
Jumpiness of Subordinate's Chapter: 1/5
Difficulty of Subordinate's Chapter: 2/5
Difficulty of Subordinate's Boss Battle: 3.5/5

---------
|CHOPPER|
---------

Real name: Harold Powell.
Weapon: Axes
Signature Quote: "Nice trick, ha ha ha!"
Back in 1655, he was a woodcutter. He was deformed at birth. At the
age of 17, he proposed to an inn-keeper's daughter, who cruelly
rejected him. He soon afted dismembered the girl, and continued to do
away with women in the same fashion for years after. He is the third
Surbordinate.

Chopper is quite a bit faster than the previous Subordinates. He can
catch up with Alyssa, no problem. He attacks by swiping at you
with his axes when he gets too close, or by flinging an axe at you.
He is the only Subordinate to have two Boss Battles of his own,
and I actually find him the most intimidating.

On Hard Mode, Chopper has two miniature scythes instead of axes and
is so fast that it's hard to get away from him.

Frequency of chasing: 4/5
Jumpiness of Subordinate's Chapter(s): 3.5/5
Difficulty of Subordinate's Chapter(s): 3/5
Difficulty of Subordinate's Boss Battles(s): 1/5

---------------------------
|SCISSORMAN & SCISSORWOMAN|
---------------------------

Real names: Ralph & Jemima.
Weapons: Twin blades
Signature quotes: "Come on, Alyssa!" "Snippity-snap!"
Twins who have no greater pleasure than torturing people with their
blades, which have handles like scissors. Hired by the main antagonist
of the game to torture people.

My least favourite Subordinates. These two are very fast, and hard
to shake off. You will never face both of them at the same time, thank
goodness, but they're still very dangerous. True Clock Tower fans will
remember the name "Scissorman" from the first two Clock Tower games.
Unfortunately, this Scissorman puts the name to shame; originally,
Scissorman was somebody who inspired terror every time he appeared. This
Scissorman has been turned into a comical character. However, he is
still a formidable foe.

Frequency of chasing: 4.5/5
Jumpiness of Subordinate's Chapter: 3.5/5
Difficulty of Subordinate's Chapter: 5/5
Difficulty of Subordinate's Boss Battle: 3/5

O---------O
|--PANIC--|
O---------O

Panic rises if: - A Subordinate hits you
                - You are near a Subordinate
                - A Subordinate jumps out at you
                - The atmosphere is creepy (flickering lights)
                - A spirit grabs you

When your panic metre is full, Alyssa will go into... FULL PANIC!!
In this state, any hit from a Subordinate is a one-hit-kill.
Alyssa will sometimes just stop in the middle of escaping; she will
stand there and shiver, letting the enemy have an easy shot at you.
You won't be able to use Holy Water in Full Panic.

As you can tell, having a high panic level is not at all desirable.
So what can you do to avoid it? By using Lavender Water! But since
this is such an uncommon item, I suggest that you use it only when
you REALLY need it. Here are situations when I think it is okay,
if not a very good idea, to use Lavender Water:

- When you are doing something important but one hit would put
  you in full panic.
- When you are going to use a hiding place but already have quite
high panic (if the Subordinate is near where you are hiding,
your panic metre keeps going up, and if it hits full panic then
you will burst out of your hiding place in a flurry of "AAAAAH!").
- For one of the Spirit sidequests.
- If you have so much that you think you could spare one (if you
ever have this, you are SO lucky).

~-~-~-~-~
|SPIRITS| (CT9)
~-~-~-~-~

Throughout the game, you will find the victims of the subordinates.
These are Spirits, colourful ghosts who float around near their
deceased bodies. If Alyssa gets too close, they will "embrace" her,
which makes her panic metre rise. However, the spirits can be quietened
by finding their Sentimental Item. For instance, if a spirit has a
ring case, then it is missing its ring and you must return the ring
to the case to appease the Spirit. The Spirit will leave behind
an item as a reward.

These spirits are actually sidequests - you don't have to deal
with them at all. But in the end it's better just to help them out.
It doesn't take long and the items are worth it, as they are quite
rare.

Here is a list of the Spirits, their locations and their sentimental
items. These can also be found in the full walkthrough, but I'll
stick it all here just so it's easier to find.

SPIRIT #1
Location - Chapter 1, The Streets
Missing Sentimental Item - Engagement Ring
How to Appease - Right at the beginning of the first chapter,
examine the bloody body on the floor near the
phone box. This purple spirit will rise from
the ground, asking for her ring. The ring is
in the phone box, which will have opened upon
activating the spirit's appearance. Pick it
up, go back to the body and use the ring from
                 your inventory.
Reward - Sigil Stone.

SPIRIT #2
Location - Chapter 1, The Streets
Missing Sentimental Item - Golden Fountain Pen
How to Appease - After finding the Spirit's "body", run to the left
and down the steps. Carry on to the right until
you find the fountain pen on the floor. Continue
right, go up the stairs and return to the body.
                 Use the pen.
Reward - Invisibility Band.

SPIRIT #3
Location - Chapter 2, Nancy's Corridor (at home)
Missing Sentimental Item - Lavender Water
How to Appease - In the corridor outside Nancy's bedroom, unseal
the bathroom door using Holy Water. The spirit
will appear and strangle you. Dodge past it
into the room you just unsealed. Examine the
corpse in the bathtub and use Lavender Water
                 from your inventory on it.
Reward - Sigil Stone.

SPIRIT #4
Location - Chapter 2, Back Alleys
Missing Sentimental Item - Teddy Bear
How to Appease - At the end of the back alley is a car, which
has obviously crashed. The boot is open. Examine
it to find a crushed, empty box. Use the
Teddy Bear in your inventory to heal the Spirit.
Reward - Sigil Stone.

SPIRIT #5
Location - Chapter 2, Back Alleys
Missing Sentimental Item - Half-Heart Pendant
How to Appease - The sentimental item is in the dining room inside
the abandoned house - see walkthrough. After
picking up the pendant and get the chance to
leave the house, head downwards to find a dumpster
with a bloody arm sticking out of it. Use the
Half-Heart Pendant to heal to Spirit.
Reward - Invisibility Ring.

SPIRIT #6
Location - Chapter 2, Abandoned House (kitchen)
Missing Sentimental Item - Film
How to Appease - This Spirit is compulsory. You obtain the
Film in Dick's Secret Room back in the
manor. Use it on the corpse in the middle
of the kitchen floor to heal the Spirit.
Reward - Photographs that allow you to progress further.

SPIRIT #7
Location - Chapter 2, Sewage Factory
Missing Sentimental Item - Daughter's Letter
How to Appease - This Spirit can be found wandering around outside
the save point room in the sewers. The letter is
found in the save point room itself. To find
the Spirit's corpse, walk along the planks in
the sewer (compulsory, see walkthrough) and fall
into the water. You will come out next to the corpse.
Use Daughter's Letter on it to heal the Spirit.
Reward - Binding Arrow.

SPIRIT #8
Location - Chapter 3.1, Sewer Cave
Missing Sentimental Item - Spectacles
How to Appease - This Spirit is found down the trapdoor which
you open with the Crowbar. It's corpse is at
the bottom of the ladder, and there is an
empty spectacles case next to it. Directly
downwards from the corpse you can find his
Spectacles on a rock. Return to the corpse
and use the Spectacles on the empty spectacles
case to heal the Spirit. This Spirit is
                 compulsory.
Reward - Card Key.

SPIRIT #9, #10, #11
Location - Chapter 3.2, Necropolis
Missing Sentimental Item - Sky, Earth and Sea Rooder Stones
How to Appease - These Spirits are compulsory. To find the
solution to the puzzle that heals them all,
look in Chapter 3 Part 2, Necropolis.
Reward - Compass of Light.

SPIRIT #12
Location - Chapter 4, Hospital Reception
Missing Sentimental item - Photo of Mother
How to Appease - When you start out in the hospital, go right
from your starting point to find Photo of
Mother. Go through the double doors on your
left to get to the main reception area. All
the way on the right side of the room is a
body on a gurney. Use Photo of Mother to heal
                 the Spirit.
Reward - Invisibility Band.

SPIRIT #13
Location - Chapter 4, Hospital Reception
Missing Sentimental Item - Photo of Child
How to Appease - First you must obtain Photo of Child from the
other side of the mirror (see walkthrough).
Then return here and use Photo of Child
on the corpse on the floor to heal the spirit.
Reward - Repellant Arrow

SPIRIT #14
Location - Chapter 4, Hospital Ward, last door on the left
Missing Sentimental Item - Release Form
How to Appease - Go to the mirrored version of the room with
the Spirit and pick up Release Form from the
chair, then return to the other side of the
mirror and use Release Form on the corpse.
Reward - Sigil Stone

Spirit #15
Location - Chapter 4, Castle - West

How to Appease - First you must take the Charred Skull out of
the oven in Castle - Kitchen. Then backtrack
to Castle - West and use this on the corpse.
Reward - Sigil Stone, Repellant Arrow.

|MINIONS| (CT10)
~-~-~-~-~

Subordinates actually have minions that they can send after you.
These come in the form of Purple Butterflies - pretty, but
so, so dangerous. If one of these touches you, not only does it
cause your Panic Metre to rise, but the current Subordinate will
come a'calling immediately (if they're not already chasing you).
If you see these, splash them with Holy Water IMMEDIATELY. It's
possible to get multiple minions in one hit.

 \/  ===========================   \/

After the beginning cutscene, you'll find yourself in the dining room. Take
this as a chance to familiarise yourself with your controls. Have a look
around the room, then exit to the main hall through the open double doors.

O--------------------O
|--- MAIN HALL 1F ---|
O--------------------O

In the corner to your left is a table that is glowing. It has a diary on it.
These are your Save Points. Save your game now if you wish.

Go left from here to see the double doors which lead out of the manor.
Unfortunately, we will never use these. Keep going left to find another
glowing table with a jar of water on it. We'll return to this later.

You can explore the bottom floor further if you wish, but to progress further
you must head upstairs.

O--------------------O
|--- MAIN HALL 2F ---|
O--------------------O

Once upstairs, you can again have a look around. If you are on your second
playthrough (must be a Cleared Game), you can go to Alyssa's room and try out
the various new costumes. To continue the story, go through the first door you
see from the top of the stairs (it's basically straight in front of you).

O-------------------------O
|--- LODGER'S CORRIDOR ---|
O-------------------------O

Turn left. At the end of the corridor is a door with a light blue seal on it.
Go close towards it and electricity will shoot at the lights. A 3-page
document which tells you about Panic will appear - read it. For now, we can't
go through the sealed door, but remember where it is. Go back down the
corridor.

*CUTSCENE*

There is now an opening in the fireplace. Head towards it and hold O to
crouch. Whilst holding O, press forward on your left analog stick to crawl
through the opening in the fireplace.

O-----------------------------O
|--- SECRET FIREPLACE ROOM ---|
O-----------------------------O

*CUTSCENE*

Run forwards and pick up the objects that are shining at the foot of the
statue. Alyssa will obtain Sacred Bottle and a letter from Nancy - Alyssa's
mum - explaining Holy Water. If you want to reread this at any point in the
game, go into your Menu - it's in the Files Section.

After reading the file, it should be clear what you have to do now, but if not
 - read on!!

Exit the room through the fireplace.

O-------------------------O
|--- LODGER'S CORRIDOR ---|
O-------------------------O

Notice on your Panic Metre - a blue number 3 has appeared. This shows how many
uses your Holy Water has left.

Go down the furthest corridor on the left - the one with a sealed door. Get
close to the seal and press TRIANGLE to sprinkle Holy Water on the seal.
The seal will shatter!

Before going through the door, you can return downstairs to refill your Holy
Water. That's completely up to you, though. If you want to do this, simply
activate the glowing jug of Holy Water downstairs.

Whether you refill your Holy Water or not, you can now go through the unsealed
door.

O------------------------O
|--- NANCY'S CORRIDOR ---|
O------------------------O

One door here is boarded up. The door next to it has a black, inactive seal on
it. If you examine this door, someone tries to barge it open - but you're safe
for now, don't worry. We'll return to this later on in the game.

For now, go to the end of the corridor and into the room with a plaque which
reads "NANCY" on the door.

O--------------------O
|--- NANCY'S ROOM ---|

Nancy's wardrobe is wide open - she left in a hurry.

Look at the glowing item on the computer desk.

Uh oh.

The door that you are facing is sealed shut. Go to the other end of the
corridor and try to go through the barred door.

|--- THE STREETS ---|
O-------------------O

!! HIDING PLACE - PHONEBOX. !!

Now, I'm extremely ignorant when it comes to history, but it looks like
you've suddenly materialised in the middle of one of the World Wars.

Prepare yourself, we're about to come across the first potentially dangerous
foe: a Spirit. Go left and you'll see a phonebox and... blood. Don't be shy!
Investigate the body.

*CUTSCENE*

This is basically the sidequest of the game - Spirits. The aim is to set the
spirit free by finding a sentimental item and returning it to the spirit's
body. The spirit will have asked you for a ring - notice the ring box beside
the body? This ghost's sentimental item is luckily very close by. Bear in mind
that you DON'T have to do this - you can simply ignore Spirits. However, they
do reward you for returning their sentimental items, and since items
themselves are very rare in this game, I'd recommend taking on these
side-quests.

The sentimental item - a ring - is in the now-open phone box. Run towards the
phone box (the Spirit shouldn't follow you). Inside the phone box is an
Engagement Ring. Pick it up. Now return to the body (don't get too close to
the Spirit or she will attack, making you panic - see Panic Section) enter
your inventory and use the Engagement Ring. The Spirit will be healed and
disappear, leaving behind her a glowing item. Pick it up to receive Sigil
Stone, one of the most useful and rare items in the game. Refer to the Items
Section of the walkthrough for more information.

Now continue onwards and into the tunnel.

Here you will find a Lion Fountain. This serves as both a Save Point and a
Holy Water refill. I STRONGLY recomend saving now - you're about to come up
against danger.

Carry on left. You'll notice the tin cans on the floor. Once you've started
being chased by the first Subordinate, you'll need to pay extra attention to
these. Objects on the floor that Alyssa stands on kicks, such as these cans or
glass, can alert somebody who's trying to kill you as to your location. So,
as you can see, it's a good idea to avoid them. You're fine for now, though.

Continue left.

*CUTSCENE*

We now know where we're headed - the concert hall, where the piano music is
coming from. You'll find yourself at the edge of a broken-off road. Go right
to find a door with a seal on it. You know what to do - splash it with some
Holy Water to dispel it. Refill your Holy Water at the Lion Statue in the
tunnel to your right, then return to the door you just unsealed. Go through
it.

Go down the stairs.

Go left (not down the short set of steps, just straight ahead of you). You'll
find another Spirit here. If you want to heal it, read the box. To skip it,
simply skip the box.

| |
| Keep going left to find a short set of stairs. |
| Go down them and go right to find a glowing |
| item. Pick it up to get the "Golden Fountain |
| Pen". Go right this time, and up the stairs |
| on the other side to avoid the Spirit behind |
| you. Return to the body and book and use the |
| pen in your inventory to heal the Spirit. |
| He'll leave behind Invisibility Band. |
===================================================

Go left and through the archway. Keep going left and you'll reach a shop
called NORTON'S TAILOR. It has a sealed door. Before dealing with this,
continue left, where you'll see some steps you can go down. Descend them to
find Lavender Water under the bridge. Then return to the sealed door and
unseal it with your Holy Water.

If you'd like to refill your Holy Water and save your game, which is a smart
move if you're not experienced with this type of game, then follow the
instructions in the box. If you just want to get on with things, skip the box.

###########################################
# Directly down from the shop, there is #
# a long stone bridge. Cross to the other #
# side and turn left. There is a Lion #
# Fountain. Refill your Holy Water and #
# save, before returning to the Tailor's. #
###########################################

Enter the Tailor's.

O-----------------------O
|--- NORTON'S TAILOR ---|
O-----------------------O

!! HIDING PLACE - CURTAIN !!
!! EVASION POINT - CHAIR !!

You'll be in the front room of the shop. Before you head upstairs, explore the
shop. You'll find Lavender Water on the counter. Go left to see a transparent
curtain. This is a hiding place. You can try it out now - examine it to hide
behind it. When you are chased by a Subordinate, you can hide behind here
until they go away. You'll want to read up more on this, so check out my
HIDING AND EVASION POINTS section.

Go downwards from the curtain to find a glowing letter on a desk. You can read
it for storyline purposes. Behind this is a door which is locked from the
other side. Now, you can go upstairs.

You'll notice the shards of glass from the broken window. When you're being
chased by the first Subordinate, try and avoid standing on this. Walk along
this balcony and go through the first door you see. It'll lead to a corridor,
at the end of which is a sealed door. Unseal it with Holy Water and go
through it.

You'll find yourself in a bedroom. Behind the bed, pick up the item on the
bedside table to get Red Drawer Key. You can now exit the room.

Go through the door at the other end of the corridor. Once you're back
on the balcony above the shop, turn left and go through the door at
the end.

The first door here is locked and doesn't open. Keep going to find what are
unmistakedly blood stains on the floor. Follow these downstairs to find
yourself in the back room. If you're ready to start the real game, head into
the middle of the room. Alyssa will automatically read the newspaper on the
desk. Read the sad article to get an inkling of what happened here.

*CUTSCENE*

Let the terror begin! Meet Sledgehammer. He likes to bash your skull. For
information on Sledgehammer, go to the Subordinates section of my walkthrough.

Read the document on Evade and Hide Points, which will appear automatically.

Firstly, you'll want to examine the red drawer in front of you. The option to
use the Red Drawer Key on it will appear - say yes. You'll obtain May's Room
Key. This is the key for the last locked door we looked at.

Now then, our first Subordinate, Sledgehammer, is after you. What would SEEM
like the smart thing to do is running around the desk. However, if you do this
you'll simply run into a heavily chained door, and Sledgehammer will corner
you. Instead, run back towards the stairs - towards Sledgehammer. Try to
dodge him (you may get hit once, but it's no big deal). Head upstairs - the
way you entered the room - and use May's Door Key on the door on the left just
by examining the door. Enter the room before Sledgehammer manages to hit you.

Upon entering the room, Sledgehammer's "I'm-a chasin' you" music will go away
and you are safe. Look at the red item on the shelves next to the door. It's
May's Diary, which adds to the storyline. Then head left, and before picking
up the glowing Invitation, you may want to read ahead slightly.

Pick up the Invitation...

*CUTSCENE*

So, after picking up the Invitation, Sledgehammer is trying to ram his way
into the room. Rest assured - he WILL manage this. Behind you, a swirling
green circle will have appeared. As quick as you can, head towards it - it's
on a chair - and press the X Button.

*CUTSCENE*

If you were quick enough, you will have seen a cutscene in which Alyssa
smashes Sledgehammer over the head with the chair before ramming him to the
floor, temporarily incapacitating him. You need to get moving quickly (a
headstart is always a good thing, as Subordinates are faster than Alyssa).
You're now back in the corridor. Head away from the stairs (so towards the
front of the screen) and through the door at the end of the corridor.

Go all the way around the balcony until you reach the stairs. Go downstairs
and exit the shop through the double doors.

O-------------------O
|--- THE STREETS ---|
O-------------------O

!! HIDING PLACES - PHONEBOX !!

Literally seconds after Alyssa exits the shop, Sledgehammer comes bursting out
after her. You could try hiding from him, but it's pointless as you're going
to lose him soon anyway. Head straight ahead of you, across the big stone
bridge. Once you've crossed the bridge, you can refill your Holy Water at the
Lion Fountain to your right, if you're quick enough. If you need to slow
Sledgehammer down - he may be a bit close for comfort, turn around and splash
him with Holy Water. You shouldn't need to do this, but if you do it'll stun
him for a few seconds, allowing you to get away. I recommend that you have a
full 3 doses of Holy Water before you continue, though.

Head through the arch to the right of the Lion Fountain. Sledgehammer should
teleport away when you do this. Keep your wits about you, all the same. Keep
going straight ahead, around the fountain and up to the massive double doors
of the concert hall.

*CUTSCENE*

O--------------------O
|--- CONCERT HALL ---|
O--------------------O

!! HIDING PLACE - BIG RED STAGE CURTAIN !!
!! - LOCKERS !!

!! EVASION POINT - VIOLIN CASE !!

Run up to the front desk and use the diary to save your game.

Behind the desk are some wooden lockers. One of them is locked - pretty bad
lockers, they should ALL be locked! We'll need a code to open this single
locked one, though. Come out from behind the desk and go right, up the short
set of stairs. There's a little alcove in the wall with Lavender Water in it.
Carry on around the corner and go through the only door that isn't roped off.

The music stops as the door closes behind you. You're now in the concert hall.
Be aware that there are a few bottles on the floor that you should try not to
knock over. Make your way down the aisles towards the stage. When you get near
the steps leading up to the stage...

*CUTSCENE*

Immediately run towards Stage-Left, where you'll see an opening which leads
you behind the curtains. Sledgehammer will take a swipe at you which will
miss, but your panic will go up all the same. Go behind the curtain, all the
way to the back right. For some reason, Sledgehammer cannot find you here,
even if he watched you go there. Wait for him to teleport away (listen for
the distinct noise and the music will go away), and pull the lever next to
you.

*CUTSCENE*

Alyssa's panic metre will have risen a little - no big deal. Examine the body
that just fell from above to get a note. Read it - it has the combination to
the locker. It says that the safe combination is "BAD" - that's letters B, A
and D. Below, it gives you words, "BABE" and "DEAD". Each letter corresponds
with a safe number. The combination is the same every playthrough. It
basically means:

 ------------------
|SAFE NUMBER|LETTER|
|-----------|------|
| 0 | A |
|-----------|------|
| 1 | B |
|-----------|------|
| 2 | C |
|-----------|------|
| 3 | D |
|-----------|------|
| 4 | E |
|-----------|------|

And so on. But these are the only ones we need to know. We're looking for
BAD. B=1. A=0. 3=D. 103 is the combination.

Before you do anything else, return to the lever and activate it to raise the
metal platform again - this means we don't have to come back here later. If
you're ready, come out from behind the curtain and get down from the stage.
Head up the aisles and through the door that leads back to the entrance.

Back in the entrance room, head round to the front desk. Go to the lockers
behind it. Examine them and use the directional buttons to change the numbers,
and X to enter your combination. Put 103 into the locker and press X. The
locker will open and you can pick up Master Key. Save your game again if you
wish. Unlock the front doors now by using the Master Key, but don't exit the
concert hall. Return to the main concert hall.

Upon entering the hall, head right and run down between the aisle and the
wall. You'll come to a door which you can unlock with the Master Key. (If
Sledgehammer followed you into the room, hide behind the curtain until he
leaves.) Go through the newly unlocked door.

You'll find yourself in an elaborately decorated side-corridor. There's a door
at the nearest end of the corridor. We aren't going through there yet.
Instead, go in the opposite direction. Follow the corridor along. Go through
the doors at the end of the corridor.

Believe it or not, it took me four days to get the guts up to play the game
so I could write this bit of the walkthrough. You're probably less jumpy than
me. In any case, you'll now be in a tiny room with a staircase. When you walk
into the middle of the room, Sledgehammer will fall from the ceiling! How the
hell did he do that? His feet must be killing him. Alyssa's panic will be
very high after this - you may even end up in full panic if you're not
careful. (If you do get into full panic, run back and hide behind the curtains
in the concert hall). Once he's fallen, go upstairs, using Lavender Water if
you need to (ONLY if you need to). Go through the doors at the top of the
stairs.

*Note - on Hard Mode, after Sledgehammer drops from the ceiling, you will
be in full panic and it is advisable to run and hide behind the curtain.

At the end of the corridor you find yourself in, there is a locker which you
should now hide in. Watch out - Sledgehammer CAN find you in here (whilst I
was writing this walkthrough, he smashed at the locker until Alyssa broke out
in full panic). If this happens, do your best to run back to the curtain -
use Lavender Water if you're scared you might die. Whether you've hidden in
the locker or behind the curtain (in which case you should return to the
locker), you should use Holy Water on the sealed door beside the locker after
Sledgehammer has left you alone. The door will unseal. Go through it!

You'll be on the balcony above the concert hall. Go left and up the stairs.
At the top of the stairs, go left and down the stairs on the other side. At
the bottom of the stairs, go left a little to see a short corridor ending in
a door behind the stairs. Go through the door.

The first double doors you come to are locked from the other side. Continue
down the corridor. Go through the open double door.

You'll be in a music room. There's an open closet full of suits and ball
gowns. Examine the shining object on one of the suits to get Matches. Brace
yourself once more and make your way out of the room, and back down the
corridor the way you came.

*CUTSCENE*

Sledgehammer will have made an unwelcome appearance - through the wall on the
right. Head back down the corridor into the music room - where you just came
from. You shouldn't need to use Lavender Water, even if your panic is very
high. In the music room, head right. You'll see that the violin case next to
the dresses in the closet has become an Evasion Point. Quickly use it.

*CUTSCENE*

Sledgehammer is now temporarily incapacitated. You need to get going as soon
as possible before he gets up.

Alyssa's panic should be slowly going down now. Go back to the corridor.
There is a pile of rubble blocking your way out. Surely Alyssa could just
climb over it. Well, since that's not an option, crouch down and crawl through
the triangular gap in the debris. You can go through the hole Sledgehammer
burst through to find Invisibility Band. Then exit to the balcony.

Go upstairs, go right and down the stairs on the other side. I'd take this
moment to wait for Alyssa's panic metre to go all the way down. Then go
through the door on the right.

You're back in the locker corridor. Remember to stay AWAY from the wall that
the door we just came through is on - there's a bottle there which will alert
Sledgehammer. Head down the corridor and go through the door at the end.

Head downstairs and go through the double doors at the bottom.

Brace yourself, and head to the other end of the corridor. When you get near
the next door along, Sledgehammer will fling the door open. If you're too
close, you'll get knocked over by the door and your panic will go up from zero
(unless yours is higher) to the halfway point. It's not that bad. Squeeze past
Sledgehammer to go through the door he just came through, back into the
concert hall. Hide behind the curtain until he is gone.

Now will be a really good time to exit the concert hall to the Lion Statue
outside. You're going to need full Holy Water, and more importantly you need
to save your game. This is because the next bit took me 5+ times to survive
the first time I played the game, although that may be because I wasn't very
good at it. Head up the aisles and through the door at the top.

In the entrance room, go around to the front desk area and go out through the
big front doors.

!! HIDING PLACE - PHONEBOX !!

Sledgehammer can still get you out in the streets, so be careful not to trip
on any tin cans. Go through the arch at the end of the gardens and turn left
to find the Lion Statue. Refill your Holy Water. You can save it here, but
it's probably better to save it at the diary inside the concert hall.

Return to the concert hall.

!! HIDING PLACE - BIG RED CURTAIN !!
!! LOCKERS !!

From the front desk, go round the corner and into the concert hall.

Everytime I've played this (so, uh, twice), Sledgehammer has been hot on my
heels at this point in the game. If he is for you, just hide behind the
curtain until he leaves. Then go through the side door that leads to the side
corridor.

Go through the door straight ahead of you, the one you haven't been through.
The doors here shut behind you with a nastily echoing sound. It sounds almost
like Sledgehammer is entering the room from another door at the same time.
Don't worry. He probably isn't. Probably.

Head up the stairs in front of you. You'll find yourself in a small lounge
with Lavender Water in the upper right corner, which you should pick up. Then
go downwards, and into the corridor at the bottom of the room. Climb the
stairs and go through the door at the top.

You'll be on a grate above the stage. If you did not make sure that the bridge
is up using the lever behind the stage curtain, you will not be able to
progress. Hopefully you kept the bridge up, though.

Go left from the door and follow the grate around until you get to a lamp. We
need to light this so we can see what we're doing. Examine the lamp to use the
Matches we found in the music room. The lamp lights up the area to reveal a
long plank above a nasty drop to the stage.

I died so much here, this is why I told you to save it. However, when I wrote
this walkthrough I used my own method that I don't think many other people
told me how to do very well, which is why I failed so much on my first
playthrough. Hopefully, I can make this simple for you. Not that you're a
simple person, just saying.

* The aim is to cross the plank without losing your balance. If you
lose your balance - you die. You fall off and die.
* First step onto the plank. Slowly move Alyssa forward, trying to keep
  her as centred as possible.
* Every now and then - about three times on the way there, and another
three on the way back - Alyssa will lose her balance and
wobble. This is where you can die. People have told me to try and
centre her when this happens. DO NOT DO THIS. By moving the joystick,
you almost ensure her death. Instead, when she begins to wobble, STOP
MOVING. DO NOT MOVE. By doing this, I managed to make it across and
  back first time without dying.

When you get to the other side, pick up the Pliers. And now - guess what! You
have to go BACK again! Use the same technique to get back across the planks.

On the other side...

*CUTSCENE*

Sledgehammer is back - and he has friends. These little purple
butterflies are NOT so innocent. They follow you around, and if they touch
you, they make you panic AND tell the Subordinate where you are. They can be
killed with a single splash of Holy Water. When possible, try to hit more
than one butterfly with a single splash. Try very hard not to miss.

Ignore the butterfly in this room. It won't do anything. Run towards
Sledgehammer and try to dodge around him. Exit the room through the only door
(the one you came through).

Head down the first staircase, then go left and down another. Go through the
door at the bottom.

In the side-corridor, got through the first door on your right - back into the
concert hall.

It's in your best interests to get away from Sledgehammer just now, what with
him being so hot on your heels. So hide behind the stage curtain. This time
there's a little twist though. "Say hello to my little friend!" Two purple
butterflies follow you behind the curtain. Spin around and spray them with
Holy Water. You can hit them both at once if you're lucky. I only got one,
and the other one hit me, but Sledgehammer still wasn't alerted to my
presence. Things hardly ever turn out that way, though. Another butterfly will
flutter towards you after that. Destroy it.

Once the butterflies and Sledgehammer are gone, come out from behind the
curtain and head up the aisles to the door that leads to the entrance. Go
through it.

Go round to the front desk and save if you want, then exit the Concert Hall
through the front doors.

!! HIDING PLACE - PHONEBOX !!

As soon as you exit, Sledgehammer will burst out through the Concert Hall
doors. Run down the garden and through the archway. You're headed back to
Norton's Tailor. If you think you have time and can manage it, turn left after
the archway to refill your Holy Water at the Lion Fountain, because
Sledgehammer has summoned some of his butterflies. As you cross the bridge
back towards the Tailors, Sledgehammer and the butterflies will be closing in.
Spray them with Holy Water if you have it - but you can make it into the
Tailor's without being hit.

Go in the Tailor's.

!! HIDING PLACE - CURTAIN !!

Sledgehammer will, of course, follow you into the shop. Go upstairs and all
the way around the balcony to the very last door (the one at the dead end). Go
through the door.

Go down the stairs and into the middle of the room. This is where we first met
Sledgehammer, remember? Go to the red drawer, and go around the back of it.
You'll find a door covered in barbed wire. Examine it and use the Pliers to
cut all the barbed wire off (how she had the time with Sledgehammer right
behind her, I do not know). Go through the door.

Sledgehammer will mysteriously disappear. First, stay on the left-hand side of
the room and go past the piano. There is a chair on which a long, green,
luminous something sits. Pick it up. It's a Repellant Arrow. These special
arrows can be used to great effect in Boss Battles - which is why I save all
of mine until the end of the game. For a little more information about arrows,
go to the Items Section.

Head left from the chair to find a blazing fireplace. There is a carved
wooden box on it. Open it.

*CUTSCENE*

After this sad and rather horrible scene, you'll receive Pocket Watch, which
you must give to Mary at the concert hall. Then read the document, which gives
you background information on Sledgehammer.

Exit the room.

There's another door in this room, at the back right corner. You can unlock it
from this side. Do so, and go through it. It takes you to the front room. Exit
the shop.

Hm. There is a suspicious lack of Sledgehammer.

Cross the bridge towards the Concert Hall. MAKE SURE YOU SAVE AT THE LION
FOUNTAIN. After SAVING your game, go through the archway, into the gardens and
towards the Concert Hall.

+ You'll get an explanation telling you what to do, but +
+ I found that it wasn't enough. So I'll explain in +
+ clearer terms here. +

+ You can't die through panic in Boss Battles - you have +
+ a health bar. So does the Subordinate you are fighting - +
+ in this case, Sledgehammer. Your aim is to get Sledge- +
+ hammer down to zero health. To kill him. +
+ +
+ To defeat Sledgehammer, you must use the bow and arrow +
+ given to you after the explanation. These are sacred, +
+ so they do greater damage to the evil Subordinates than +
+ anything else would. +
+ +
+ * Firstly, you must get a good distance away from +
+ Sledgehammer. Then you should start charging up +
+ your arrows with the TRIANGLE button (you must +
+ hold it). Point it straight at Sledgehammer whilst +
+ you are charging the arrow. +
+ +
+ * When the head of the arrow has waves of energy +
+ around it, shoot it at Sledgehammer by releasing +
+ the TRIANGLE button. This should bind him to the +
+ spot from a thread of light. He will try to get +
+ away, but will keep sliding back to the bind. +
+ After about 20 seconds he will free himself from +
+ any binding, though, so act fast. +
+ +
+ * You need to repeat this until he is binded to +
+ THREE threads of light. It sometimes takes a +
+ while to get the first binding, but after you +
+ do achieve it, the other two are easy. +
+ +
+ * Once bound by three threads of light, centre +
+ Alyssa so that she is directly facing Sledgehammer. +
+ Then fully charge arrows so that not only is the +
+ arrowhead radiating energy, but the entire body. +
+ These hits will hurt Sledgehammer quite a lot. +
+ After a few of these hits, Alyssa should be able +
+ to execute a devestating - and often final - attack. +
+ You will know when she is about to do this, as she +
+ will point her bow and arrow towards the sky instead +
+ of at Sledgehammer. You should let go of the arrow +
+ to watch a mini-cutscene which will kill Sledgehammer. +
+ +
+ Sledgehammer has 2 attacks - his swipe with the hammer +
+ when he gets too close to you, and a rather more dangerous +
+ attack. Before the dangerous attack, he will say "Alyssaaaa!" +
+ and raise his hammer above his head. He will then send it +
+ crashing down to the ground, creating shockwaves that +
+ zoom out towards Alyssa. These can only be avoided by +
+ making Alyssa crouch. They will not damage her when she +
+ is crouching. Sledgehammer takes a short while to recover +
+ from this attack, during which you may be able to get a +
+ good shot in with your arrow. +
+ +
+ All in all, the boss battles are difficult, but as long as +
+ you can avoid the attacks and persevere, you'll be fine. +
+ If you know what you're doing, it's a piece of cake. +
+ However, the first time I played the game, I died a few +
+ times on this battle, so don't feel bad if you do die. +
+ +
+ If you're playing on Hard Mode, the battle is almost exactly +
+ the same. Arrows won't inflict as much damage as they do in +
+ normal mode, but one Super Attack is still enough to kill +
+ him. +

O---------------------O
|--- ALYSSA'S ROOM ---|
O---------------------O

*CUTSCENE

Alyssa wakes up back home, on her bed. Maybe it WAS all a dream?

You'll have been introduced to the most annoying character in the game -
Dennis, your Ron Weasley-esque childhood friend.

O-----------------O
|--- MAIN HALL ---|
O-----------------O

After the cutscene, you'll be out in the main hall. Go downstairs and go
through the double doors underneath the staircase.

O-----------------O
|--- SIDE-HALL ---|
O-----------------O

Unlock the door on the far right with Dick's Room Key, which Dennis gave you
in the cutscene. Go through the newly unlocked door.

O--------------------O
|--- DICK'S STUDY ---|
O--------------------O

This is Alyssa's grandad's room. If you look around, you'll notice that he's
been studying some very old books. Go behind the desk and look at the glowing
book. It says "The Keys to the mystery of time lie behind you". Then you can
read a document called Book of Entities I, which will show up on the screen
automatically. The document gives you an inkling about why you are being
chased.

*CUTSCENE*

We just found out that it's Alyssa's birthday TOMORROW. Her mother wanted her
to go into hiding... OH WELL!!!

Examine the portrait of Dick above the mantlepiece to find Winding Keys, then
exit the room.

O-----------------O
|--- SIDE-HALL ---|
O-----------------O

Go back to the main hall.

O-----------------O
|--- MAIN HALL ---|
O-----------------O

Go upstairs, and through the first door you come to.

O-------------------------O
|--- LODGER'S CORRIDOR ---|
O-------------------------O

Go left and through the door at the end of the corridor.

O------------------------O
|--- NANCY'S CORRIDOR ---|
O------------------------O

You'll notice that the previously inactive seal on one of the doors has turned
blue. Only follow the instructions in the box if you want to set a Spirit
free and if you have Lavender Water.

============================================================
| SPIRIT #3 |
| |
| Unseal the door with your Holy Water. As soon as you do, |
| a Spirit will come out of it. It will strangle you |
| briefly (this is unavoidable). Go through the door you |
| just unsealed. You'll be in a bathroom. Run forward, |
| as the spirit will be following you. Examine the corpse |
| in the bath. It really smells! Quickly, go into your |
| inventory and use some Lavender Water. The spirit will |
| be healed. Aaaaw, he just wanted to smell nice! Examine |
| the corpse to get Sigil Stone. Exit the bathroom. |
============================================================

Go to the left end of the corridor and into Nancy's room.

O-----------------------O
|--- NANCY'S BEDROOM ---|
O-----------------------O

Approach the clock in the back-right corner of the room. A mini-cutscene shows
the painting hanging over the mantlepiece dropping to the ground to reveal an
almost identical painting. There's a slight difference - there are hands on
the clock now, and they say that the time in the portrait was 3:00. Now walk
over to the grandfather clock next to the portrait, examine it and use
Winding Keys.

The clock is currently at 3:05. We need it to be at 3:00. The left key turns
the clock BACK by 40 minutes. The right key takes the clock FORWARD by 25
minutes. Turn the RIGHT key three times, then the LEFT key twice, and the
clock should be at 3:00.

A door will be revealed next to the clock. Go through it.

O------------------------------O
|--- NANCY'S SECRET CHAMBER ---|
O------------------------------O

You'll be in a hidden room. Read the document on the table opposite the door.
It tells you that if you pour Holy Water on the runes on the floor in this
room, it will create a portal which teleports you elsewhere. You'll need 2
doses of Holy Water for this, so if you need to refill run back downstairs
to the Main Hall, then return here.

When you're ready, splash the portal twice with Holy Water and walk into it...

O-------------------O
|--- BACK ALLEYS ---|
O-------------------O

You're surrounded by a bunch of metal crates. Run towards the front of the
screen and to the right to find a shining item. Pick it up to get Lavender
Water.

In the middle of the area is a Lion Fountain. Refill your Holy Water if you
want, and save your game. Head left and then up from here to get behind a
fence which leads you to the back alleys.

Once behind the fence, turn right and follow the path along. As you get near
the bins on the corner, a red Spirit rises from the ground. We can't deal with
him just yet, so ignore him as best as you can. Pick up the Teddy Bear next
to the dustbins (poor thing) and go left. Right after the corner, you'll find
the Spirit's corpse in a dull green dumpster. He's holding on to Half-Heart
Pendant. We need to find the matching pendant.

There's a door a little further up from here. Just go straight past it, it's
locked anyway. A little further up the alleyway you'll see yet ANOTHER Spirit
 - this time a blue-white one. If you want to heal it, read the box.

=====================================================
| SPIRIT #4 |
| |
| There is a car with an open boot right at the end |
| of the alleyway. There is a crushed, empty gift |
| box inside. Use the Teddy Bear in your inventory |
| on it to heal the Spirit. She leaves behind a |
| Sigil Stone. |
=====================================================

Past where the blue-white Spirit is/was is a door which is tinted red from the
streetlight. Go through it.

O-----------------------O
|--- ABANDONED HOUSE ---|
O-----------------------O

!! EVASION POINT - FIRE EXTINGUISHER !!

There is a massive bloodstain on the floor, along with some tin cans (watch
out for these later). The double doors are locked for now and need to be
opened from the other side. Carry on to the right and round the corner.

*CUTSCENE*

Go round the corner AGAIN.

*CUTSCENE*

What a warm welcome you have received. Well. That door isn't opening anytime
soon.

A little further down this corridor is a crooked painting. Alyssa thinks that
she should straighten it, but she doesn't. The door at the end of this
corridor is locked. Head back down the corridor.

Wait, no, not another---

*CUTSCENE*

Another creepy Spirit glides gaily down the corridor towards you. Alyssa isn't
so happy though - her panic has gone up into the yellow. Go up the corridor
and round the corner, away from the nasty ghostie. Ignore the door on this
floor, it doesn't open yet. Instead, go up the stairs and through the door
at the top.

You'll be in a bedroom. The Spirit can't follow you here. To the left of the
door is a document. Read it for storyline purposes. Afterwards, go left some
more to find a red box, which is locked. A little further across and you'll
come across a beautiful white flower, which, according to Alyssa, needs to be
turned for some reason. So, examine it and you'll notice a picture. In the
picture is the moon. The flower is called Moonflower. You need to make sure
that the flower is facing the moon, so when prompted, make it face NORTH.

*CUTSCENE*

A ladder has been revealed where the bed used to be. Go down it.

You'll come down out of a fireplace in the dining room. The Spirit can float
in and get you here, so be very careful. At one end of the table is Kitchen
Key. On the other end is Half-Heart Pendant. Exit the dining room through the
double doors.

This brings you out into the corridor where you entered the house. However,
the door that leads back outside is kept held shut by a mysterious force.
Instead, head to the right, and round the corner again. Do not turn right into
the corridor with the crooked painting, go straight ahead and examine the next
door you come to. You will get the option to use the Kitchen Key on it - do
so and enter the room.

You're in - guess where? - the kitchen! Walk into the middle of the room.

*CUTSCENE*

Read the News Reporter's Memo, which appears on-screen on its own. Then exit
the room through the door closest to the corpse's head.

O-------------------O

Head downwards and round the corner. Return to the Lion Fountain.

*CUTSCENE*

Nancy leaves behind Dick's Desk Key - pick it up from the floor. Save your
game at the Lion Fountain if you want. Your Holy Water was automatically
refilled during the cutscene. Head up to the portal and give it two splashes
of Holy Water. Then step into it.

Uh oh. It's dark already - the lights have come on and the sky outside is dark
blue.

Go downstairs and through the double doors under the stairs.

O---------------------O
|--- SIDE-CORRIDOR ---|
O---------------------O

Go through the door on the right.

O-------------------O
|--- DICK'S ROOM ---|
O-------------------O

Use the desk key on the drawer and read Book of Entities II. It tells you,
basically, that healing spirits can enhance Rooder power, making it easier to
defeat Subordinates. If this doesn't make sense yet, it'll make sense soon.

After reading the document, you'll receive Strange Mask.

There is a round indent on the wall in front of you. It is surrounded by
masks. It's not difficult to figure out what to do. Examine the gap in the
masks and use the Strange Mask. Surprise! It's a hidden door. Go through it.

O--------------------------O
|--- DICK'S SECRET ROOM ---|
O--------------------------O

There is a Repellent Arrow on a desk in here. Pick it up. Then examine the
golden box on the other desk nearby to get Film. There's also a diary,
belonging to Dick...

*CUTSCENE*

O-------------------O
|--- DICK'S ROOM ---|
O-------------------O

After watching Alyssa talking to an inanimate object like the nutter she is,
exit the study and go all the way back to Nancy's Secret Room. You should be
able to find your way around the manor on your own, now.

O------------------------------O
|--- NANCY'S SECRET CHAMBER ---|
O------------------------------O

The portal should still be active. Step into it.

O-------------------O
|--- BACK ALLEYS ---|

Go back down the back alley and into the Abandoned House through the first

===============================================

Examine the photos next to the corpse. The first photo shows a man dumping a
body in a dumpster (so that's what happened to Spirit #5). We don't actually
get a good look at the killer, though.

The second photo shows a door that has been opened by the pressing of a hidden
switch... Wait, isn't that somewhere in this house?

Go through the door on the other side of the room.

Back in the corridor, head down and go into the corridor on your right, where
the Spirit started chasing you and the old woman chucked you out. Go to the
end of the corridor and examine the crooked picture. This will reveal the
switch behind it. Activate the switch to unlock the door next to you. Go
through it.

|--- BACK ALLEYS 2 ---|
O---------------------O

!! HIDING PLACE - Cubicle !!

Go left to find your first hiding place - a toilet behind a door. Go right to
find a Lion Fountain. SAVE YOUR GAME.

Go up the nearby stairs. The first door you come to is locked. Ignore the next
set of stairs and go through the next door when you're ready - we're about to
meet Subordinate #2!

When you head into the centre of the workshop...

*CUTSCENE*

Meet Corroder. He likes to spray acid at people. His attacks reach further
than Sledgehammer's did, so you'll want to stay further away from him. For
more information on Corroder, go to my Subordinates section.

Head directly upwards to find an Evasion Point - a blue bottle full of Sodium
Chlorate. Use it.

*CUTSCENE*

You'll find yourself back outside. The sad thing is... We need to go back
INSIDE the workshop again to get a Key Item! Head back into the shack!

Corroder has disappeared. A little ominous, but no worries. He won't jump out
at you. Yet. Hee, hee, hee! Now then, we can explore properly. Try not to
touch any of the walls, as there is a plank of wood which you can knock over,
although hopefully you'll have knocked it over before triggering the Corroder
Opening Cutscene. At the back of the room is an item we could't get because
Corroder was in the way. Pick it up now to receive Invisibility Band. Now go
through the double doors.

This is the room where Corroder killed Dorothy and Albert Rand. On the shelf
is Toolbox Key. Now go to the single door (not the double doors) and unlock
it from this side. Go through it.

Back outside, go back down the stairs that lead to the Lion Fountain and save
your game. Refill your Holy Water if you want to. Then return to Abandoned
House through the the door on your left.

|--- ABANDONED HOUSE ---|

!! EVASION POINT - FIRE EXTINGUISHER !!

Look at the following diagram of this floor of the house:

             |---|
             | . |
             | |
             | |
  ------------ ----------- KEY
 | | . = Alyssa
 | ------------------ | X = Corroder
 | X | | |
 | | | |
 | | DINING <- |
 | | ROOM | |
 | ------------------| |
 | STAIRS | |---|
 |-----------

As you can see, Corroder is hiding around the corner. We need to get upstairs,
which, as you can see, he is in the way of. We CAN avoid him though, because
if you go around the corner he sticks his nozzle out, sprays you with acid
and gets your panic quite high. Instead, go in the opposite direction into
the dining room.

In the dining room, go around the back of the table and enter the fireplace -
it will take you all the way up to the bedroom. (You will hear Corroder enter
the dining room behind you, but it's no big deal).

Corroder will now have to go all the way around the bottom floor and up the
stairs to reach you. Head over to the right - beside the wardrobe is a red
box. Examine it to open it with Toolbox Key. You will receive Hexagonal
Wrench. Now return to the ladder which leads back to the dining room, but
don't go down yet. Wait for Corroder to burst through the bedroom door
(you should hear him) and then go down the ladder.

In the dining room, go to the fire extinguisher on your left. It's turned into
an Evasion Point! Use it!

*CUTSCENE*

Hm. The room is now filled with a curious fog. Corroder is still in the room,
but he's too busy bumbling around trying to find you to ACTUALLY succeed. You
can touch him and he still won't find you. Slip past him through the double
doors and out into the corridor.

Quickly go right and round the corner, then down the corridor on the right
with the sealed door. Go through the door at the end (the one we came in
through).

O--------------------O
|--- BACK ALLEY 2 ---|
O--------------------O

Save your game at the Lion Fountain. Then begin to make your way up the
stairs. On the first step, you'll head Corroder appearing from a door above
you. He should be coming through the door at the very top of the stairs. Don't
bother hiding - just splash him with Holy Water when you reach him (you
should be able to get him before he gets you).

Now head down the OTHER staircase on your left. Once you are at the bottom of
the stairs, you'll see Dorothy's shawl in the river, stuck in a sewer grate.
We can't get it yet. Go round the corner and you'll come to a couple of fans
that are moving quite quickly. Go further left to find a little red valve on
a pipe. Examine it to use Hexagonal Wrench. This makes the fan stop turning,
leaving a suspiciously Alyssa-sized gap. Examine it and Alyssa will crawl
through.

O----------------------O
|--- SEWAGE FACTORY ---|
O----------------------O

!! EVASION POINT - ELECTRIC CABLE !!

Immediately in the next room, Corroder will burst from some currently unseen
area of the room. Head straight ahead in the direction that Alyssa is facing
to run head-first into Corroder. Either dodge around him or spray him with
your Holy Water. Then go through the door behind him, which has a red light
above it.

*NOTE - On Hard Mode, Corroder will be accompanied by three butterflies.

Go down the stairs and round the corner, then through the metal door. Corroder
is still following, so go all the way to the right side of the room and press
the switch on the wall - an Evasion Point.

*CUTSCENE*

Now that Corroder is down, grab the item on the table which turns out to be
Lavender Water. Then grab the diary on the table to receive a sentimental
item, Daughter's Letter. Save your game at the diary and then exit the room.

Head left. There's a spirit here, but we can't help him just yet. Round the
corner, you'll come to a little set of stairs and a ledge along the wall.
Head over to the ledge and press left as though to walk off of the edge -
Alyssa will instead begin to shimmy along the ledge. Once you get to the other
side, head downwards to find a fragile-looking plank. Walk Alyssa over the
plank.

Next there are two planks to choose from, a short one at the front and a long
one at the back. Walk over the long one. You'll then come to another two
planks - a long one at the front and a short one at the back. Go over the
long one yet again (walking all the way).

Now you'll come to one final plank. Walk across it and, on purpose, stand
on it for too long.

*CUTSCENE*

Don't worry, that was supposed to happen.

==============================================
| SPIRIT #7 |
| |
| Go back down the steps towards the corpse |
| which has just risen from the water. Use |
| Daughter's Letter on it to heal the Spirit |
| nearby. The corpse is now holding a red |
| arrow - a Binding Arrow. Pick it up. |
==============================================

Now we need to attempt those planks again. Head up the stairs and left. Shimmy
along the wall again, and walk across the first plank. Then walk across the
longest plank, then the next longest plank. Now try the final plank again -
only this time, run across it (although you can only JUST make it by walking).
Pick up Dorothy's Shawl from the grate, then head left.

*CUTSCENE*

Don't move for a second. Just stand there, facing Corroder. When he's close
enough (I did say "a second", I meant it literally) splash him with Holy Water
("Hot! Hot!"). Use your Lavender Water if you think you need it. Head
downwards, away from Corroder. Near the end of the path you'll see a metal
door. Unlock it from this side and go through. Head all the way to the right
and up the stairs. Go through the door.

+ BOSS BATTLE - CORRODER - 31 Victims +

+ (For a reminder on how to win Boss Battles, check out +
+ Sledgehammer's Boss Battle instructions in the previous +
+ chapter.) +
+ +
+ That was quick. Right, it's exactly the same as the +
+ Sledgehammer Boss Battle, in essence. Don't use +
+ special arrows. Don't forget that there's a machine +
+ in the middle of the room which could get in the +
+ way, although you CAN shoot arrows through it. +
+ Corroder has a little more health than Sledgehammer. +
+ He has different attacks, too: +
+ +
+ * He'll spray acid twice if he gets too close to you - +
+ diagonal swipes that make a cross. +
+ * He'll say "There she is!" when you're too far way +
+ and shoot a long-range massive blob of acid that +
+ goes all the way across the room - sidestep this, +
+ because it hurts a bloody lot. +
+ * He'll laugh and spray acid like normal, only it +
+ goes further than his usual attacks. +
+ * He'll say "Prepare to die!" and follow you very +
+ quickly around the room, aciding you when he +
+ gets close enough (he uses the first attack in +
+ this case. +
+ +
+ Eventually after his charging "prepare to die" attack +
+ (about four acid sprays later) his nozzle will jam and +
+ he'll stop, trying to fix it. This is your chance to +
+ get a binding shot in. Whilst he's binded, his long-range +
+ blob attack can still get you, as well as his far-spread +
+ acid one (unless you're too far away). You can shoot him +
+ with a fairly powerful shot to prevent him from executing +
+ his blob attack. +
+ +
+ I find it easiest to kill him through powerful ammo damage. +
+ When I killed him for this walkthrough, I hadn't even used +
+ a single Super Attack on him - it wouldn't let me for +
+ some reason, or I didn't get the chance. I prefer to kill +
+ him with damage alone because it's far easier to achieve. +
+ Just charge up some nicely powered arrows when his nozzle +
+ gets stuck, hit him with good shots when he's binded, +
+ dodge his attacks and interrupt his blob attack whenever +
+ possible. +
+ +
+ On Hard Mode, this battle is very difficult. His attacks +
+ seem to have a larger range, and, as in Sledgehammer's +
+ battle, arrows don't inflict as much damage as they do in +
+ normal mode. Corroder also moves from side to side a lot +
+ in Hard Mode, making it difficult for you to shoot an arrow +
+ at him.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

For your victory, you automatically receive Clover of Courage! Your Holy Water
amount rises by 1 - you can now carry 5 doses of Holy Water! HARDCORE!

Head downwards from the door with the red light above it. Go through the fan
that isn't moving.

Go right and up the stairs. Go down the other set of stairs, then go into the
Abandoned House.

O------------------O
|--- SEWER CAVE ---|
O------------------O

Great. Where are you now?

On your left is Lavender Water. North and slightly to the right of this
is a tombstone with an inactive seal on it. Go right from here to find
a crawlspace. Go through it.

You'll come out in a kind of sewer. Go down the steps. Straight ahead of you
is a spirit that could cause you some trouble - try to avoid him. We can't
help him right now. Run towards the spirit and up the steps to your right.
Go up the ladder.

O-----------------O
|--- B3 - SIDE ---|
O-----------------O

!! HIDING PLACE - AQUARIUM !!

On your right is a trapdoor. You can't open it yet, but remember it. Stay on
the left of the two metal paths here and follow the path down. Go through the
first door on your left.

There's a save point and Holy Water refill here. There's also your first
hiding place. It's behind the aquarium - try it out now so that you know how
to use it later. Pick up the Worker's Key - it's on the opposite side of the
room to the save point. Save your game and exit the room.

*CUTSCENE*

Say hello to Chopper. He likes to chuck axes at people. You'll definitely want
to read up on this guy, so go to my Subordinates section. If you'd rather just
go with the flow, just continue.

You'll appear on the opposite side to the save point room you were just in.
Cross to the other side by using the small metal bridge and go through the
door to the Save Point room (if you're unsure, look at your map on the menu
screen). Quickly hide behind the aquarium until he goes away. Notice that he
has different "chasing" music to the last two Subordinates.

Once he's gone, exit the room again.

Head upwards towards the ladder you originally entered through. Both the
ladder and the trapdoor on the other side are shut, we can't use them. Keep
remembering the trapdoor on the right though. From this point, cross over to
the right hand side and go down the first corridor you come to (easily visible
on your map) and go through the door at the end.

O-----------------O
|--- B3 - MAIN ---|
O-----------------O

It's very easy to get this part of B1 mixed up with B2 and B3, they all
look the same. Go down the end of the short corridor you are in to
find yourself on a metal balcony. Head left and down the first set of
stairs you come to. You'll find a fuse box on the wall. Open it to
discover a set of snapped wires. We need to fix these, but as of yet we
cannot touch them. Remember this place and return here later.

Continue down and left to find a Sigil Stone. Continue round in the
same direction to find the solution to the fuse box puzzle in a crate.
This isn't useful until we have the gloves needed to touch the wires,
but at least we have the solution.

By this point Chopper is probably chasing you. Head back towards the stairs
again and you'll run into him - either dodge around him or douse him with Holy
Water. In any case, climb the stairs that you came from and go all the way
around the circular balcony to get to an elevator. This not only serves the
purpose of most elevators - taking you to another floor - but it is a sort of
hiding place from Chopper. But whilst you're in it, your panic does not go
down and he'll probably be waiting right outside the elevator for you if you
stay on that floor. Go in the elevator and go to floor B1.

O-----------------O
|--- B1 - MAIN ---|
O-----------------O

Exit the elevator. On your immediate left there's a corridor, ending
in an electronically locked door. We need to fix the fuse box to use
this, and what's more, we also need a Card Key. Just remember that it's
on this floor. If not, I can tell you where it is! Instead, go down
the stairs on the right side of the balcony.

At the bottom, Chopper will unexpectedly run out from behind the stairs.
He'll be right on your heels. Keep running awat from him and you'll
come to a cupboard on the wall. Examine it to obtain Rubber Gloves -
we can now fix the fuse box! Also, around the corner is a circuit
breaker, but we can't use it right now because the fuse box isn't
working. So there's a second reason to return to this floor.

Turn around, splash Chopper with Holy Water (or dodge around him) and
run back to the elevator. Go to floor B2.

O-----------------O
|--- B2 - MAIN ---|
O-----------------O

!! EVASION POINT - BARRELS !!

Exit the elevator and go down the stairs. Have a look at your map - you can
see a pile of boxes and a couple of barrels right round the corner of you.
Head towards the boxes - when the camera angle changes, Chopper will be RIGHT
behind you. You should have time to investigate the boxes so that you can
grab Crowbar. Continue round to the barrels, which serves as an Evasion Point.
*CUTSCENE*

That's him out of the way for a little while. Return to the elevator and go to
B3.

O-----------------O
|--- B3 - MAIN ---|
O-----------------O

We have two things to do on this floor. Firstly, go down the stairs and to the
Fuse Box on the wall. Look at it to find that you can use the Rubber Gloves,
leaving you free to solve the puzzle. The aim is to attach the correct upper
wires to the correct lower wires. It's straightforward enough, since you have
the solution in your Files, but I've still written the solution out pretty
simply.

UPPER LEFT WIRE goes with LOWER RIGHT WIRE.
UPPER MIDDLE WIRE goes with LOWER LEFT WIRE.
UPPER RIGHT WIRE goes with LOWER MIDDLE WIRE.

Or, if you look at the diagram in your Files:

A1 - B3
A2 - B1
A3 - B2

Once you've solved the puzzle, the electricity is on!

Go back up the stairs and instead of going in the elevator, cross the
bridge into the corridor and through the door at the end.

O-----------------O
|--- B3 - SIDE ---|
O-----------------O

!! HIDING PLACE - AQUARIUM !!

Head left and use the Crowbar on the trapdoor. Go down the newly revealed
ladder.

O------------------O
|--- SEWER CAVE ---|
O------------------O

You're back at the bottom of the sewer, on the other side this time. The
spirit's in here, so be careful. YOU HAVE to deal with this spirit. Examine
the corpse next to you. Read the note it has to learn that the spirit's
sentimental item is his spectacles. Go down the stairs. In the bottom left of
the room you'll find his spectacles on a rock. Pick them up and run back to
the corpse, because the spirit will surely be trying to swoop down on you at
this point. Go into your inventory and use the Spectacles on the empty
glasses case next to the corpse. The spirit will be healed, and the corpse
will slump over sideways to reveal Card Key. Right on!

Go back up the ladder.

O-----------------O
|--- B3 - SIDE ---|
O-----------------O

!! HIDING PLACE - AQUARIUM !!

Head back down the corridor on the right. On your way, at the first camera
angle change, Chopper appears across the other side of the room and chucks
his axe at you. Either crouch to avoid this (although it gives Chopper the
chance to catch up very quickly) or run down the corridor as fast as you can
and go through the door. If you're quick enough, the axe won't hit you,
simply miss. Chopper is still right behind you, though, so keep running.

O-----------------O
|--- B3 - MAIN ---|
O-----------------O

Run straight to the elevator (look at your map if you're unsure where
it is) and go to floor B1.

O-----------------O
|--- B1 - MAIN ---|
O-----------------O

Go down the stairs and go all the way round to find Circuit Breaker. Turn it
on (now that the fuse box is working we can do this successfully) and head
back up the stairs. Don't go in the elevator, go down the corridor. Chopper
should be chasing you right now, and he's probably right behind you. If you
don't feel safe, splash him with Holy Water. At the end of the corridor, use
the Card Key on the door. It should open completely, as we have both unlocked
it and turned the power on all the way. Go through the door.

Chopper can't get you in here. You're in a new save point room. Opposite the
door, pick up Repellant Arrow. Refill your Holy Water if you need to and SAVE
YOUR GAME. Go up the stairs and through the door at the top.

O------------------------------------O
|--- ALTERNATIVE NANCY'S CORRIDOR ---|
O------------------------------------O

Look where you are! Only it's slightly different. Go through the door on the
far right of the room.

O-------------------------------------O
|--- ALTERNATIVE LODGER'S CORRIDOR ---|
O-------------------------------------O

Go to the end of the corridor and go through the first door you come to.

O-----------------------------O
|--- ALTERNATIVE MAIN HALL ---|
O-----------------------------O

Go downstairs.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
+ FALSE BOSS BATTLE - CHOPPER - 44 Victims. +
+ Sentenced to 921 years. +
+ +
+ Yes, I said FALSE boss battle. Chopper appears to have +
+ a lot of health, but you don't have to get rid of all of it. +
+ The battle only lasts for as long as it takes you to get a +
+ Super Attack, whether he's at quarter depleted health or +
+ half depleted health. +
+ +
+ Chopper walks towards you very slowly from a distance, +
+ but after a second or two he'll start to run at his +
+ usual speed. Try to avoid all of his attacks, and, as usual, +
+ if you're in danger of being hit in the middle of charging +
+ an arrow, either shoot if it's strong enough to stun the +
+ opposition or ABANDON THE ATTEMPT. That's the problem a lot +
+ of people find - they convince themselves that they'll +
+ have a fully charged arrow before the enemy can hit them, +
+ and then they get hit. Don't be foolish - it's better to +
+ be safe than sorry... or dead! +
+ +
+ Chopper has only a few attacks. If he gets close enough, +
+ he'll either do a single swipe at you, or he'll do a +
+ few swipes in a row. His worst and, sometimes, most useful +
+ attack is his throwing attack. You'll know he's about to +
+ do it as he'll shout: "Catch!" If you have a medium-charged +
+ arrow when he does this, shoot it at him - it'll destroy +
+ his axe before it hits you and it will stun him for a few +
+ seconds. Otherwise, just crouch to avoid it. +
+ +
+ The trick is to stay far away, charge a few medium-charged +
+ arrows at him whenever possible, and try to bind him when +
+ he's stunned after his "catch" attack. This is your chance +
+ to finish the battle with a Super attack. +
+ +
+ There aren't really any differences in this battle in Hard +
+ Mode. His attacks will hurt you a lot more, and you won't +
+ do as much damage, but that's it, really. +

O-----------------O
|--- MAUSOLEUM ---|
O-----------------O

Great, not even that killed him. He was just toying with us!

You will automatically receive a note from your darling grandad...the bastard.

Go through the gates that you can see to the north to find a Lion Statue.
This bit can get a little fiddly, so save your game before returning
to the area where you appeared. I will call this the main part of the
mausoleum from here on out.

Take a minute to look around - you're in no danger so don't worry. On either
side of the gates leading to the Lion Fountain are two statues with "round
indentations" on them. We'll be returning to these later. Now run in the
opposite direction to the Lion Fountain and through the gates.

*CUTSCENE*

Run back towards the main part of the mausoleum. On the way, you'll notice an
item that is on the ground upwards from the gate - pick it up to get Lavender
Water. Now return to the main part of the mausoleum.

Back in the middle, face the Lion Fountain. Look at your map on the menu
screen - you want to be heading to the northern area, which from the camera
angle's point of view should be upwards/to your right. Go there. You'll find
a teleportation rune on the ground. Splash it twice with Holy Water to
activate it. Before stepping into it, you can return to the Lion Fountain to
refill your Holy Water. Whether you do this or not, step into the portal.

O-----------------O
|--- GRAVEYARD ---|
O-----------------O

!! HIDING PLACE - CURTAIN !!

Step out of the teleportation rune. Before continuing, turn around and splash
the rune twice with Holy Water to reactivate it - this way you don't have to
do this later. Then head away from the runeand follow the path until you reach
a car.

*CUTSCENE*

He's back! Run towards the car and pick up the note from Nancy on the floor.
After reading it you'll find that Chopper and a couple of those purple
butterfly minions from Sledgehammer's chapter will be in hot pursuit. Trying
to splash both Chopper and the two butterflies usually ends badly, so keep
running to the right and you'll come to a cabin. The butterflies can't get
you in here, although Chopper will still be chasing you. Enter the cabin.
(If your panic metre is over a quarter of the way filled I'd recommend using
Lavender Water at this point.)

Chopper is still after you, so run right and follow the wall along to reach a
curtain. Hide behind it. The reason I told you to take Lavender Water is
because if your panic metre is any higher than a quarter filled, you're likely
to reach full panic from Chopper being too close to your hiding place. When
Chopper is gone, come out from behind the curtain. Whilst you were hiding you
should have noticed two glowing objects opposite you. Go to them now. One of
them, the one on the desk, is Book of Entities III. Read it for background
information on Chopper. The item on the bed is Lavender Water.

Make your way out of the cabin. Near the front door you'll find a Holy Water
refill, which you should use, and a save point. Save your game and then exit
the cabin.

Return to the area on the left with the car, and keep going left to the path
you haven't been down. Here you'll find the stone monument that Chopper
jumped and stood on during the cutscene. Run around to the back of this and up
the set of stairs at the back. There is a two-eyed lion statue at the back.
There is a switch in its mouth - don't press it yet, we'll return to this in
a minute, just remember where it is. Instead, carry on north and down the
stairs.

Run straight forwards and examine the plinth. It tells you to purify yourself
with Holy Water, and then to awaken the Lions in the right order. We already
found Lion #2, and we don't need to press him yet. Go downwards from the
plinth to find a one-eyed lion statue. Press the switch in its mouth and
return to the plinth.

From the plinth go up the steps back to the stone monument with the two-eyed
lion on it. As you head towards it you will hear Chopper beginning to chase
you, although you can't see him yet. Approach the two-eyed lion and press
the switch in its mouth before heading back to the plinth.

As you head down the steps towards the plinth, Chopper will run pretty much
head-first into you. Either dodge around him or use Holy Water to repel him.
If you really want him out of the way, you could use an Invisibility Ring.
When you get to the plinth, head upwards and press the switch on the
three-eyed lion statue. Now return to the plinth and spray it with Holy Water
to receive Compass of Shadows.

Time to skiddadle back to the mausoleum! Whether you've used an Invisibility
Ring or not, the purple butterflies that Chopper has summoned can still find
you and alert Chopper to your presence. However, you should be able to get
to where you need to go withou them even touching you. Return to the area
with the car and take the north path back towards the teleportation rune. When
the camera angle changes, the butterflies will mysteriously disappear or stop
chasing you. I can't confidently say the same for Chopper, so keep running as
you make your way round the path to the teleportation rune. Hopefully you'll
have activated it when you entered the area - if not, activate it now and
step into it to return to the mausoleum.

O-----------------O
|--- MAUSOLEUM ---|
O-----------------O

Go left and back to the main part of the mausoleum. Refill your Holy
Water at the Lion Fountain and then save your game. Examine the statue
on the left of the gates leading to the Lion Fountain and insert Compass
of Shadows. Then go through the gates on the left - the only path
we haven't been down - and activate the teleportation rune on the ground.
Step into it.

O-------------------O
|---- NECROPOLIS ---|
O-------------------O

There are two places either side of you where you can refill your Holy
Water - you'll need it. Do not reactivate the portal yet or you may
accidentally step into it. Instead, go down the steps at the front
of the screen.

This is a rough map of the area:

              ------
             | SK |
              -- --
                | | SK: Where Sky Stone goes
                | | EA: Where Earth Stone goes
                |.| SE: Where Sea Stone goes
                | |
                | | . : Red Spirit
         ------- ------ + : Yellow Spirit
         | | x : Blue Spirit
         | |
 --- | | ---
| |____| |____| |
|EA + x SE |
| |--------- stairs--------| |
 --- ---

On the map I have written where the stones SHOULD go, not where the
stones are where they begin. Here is a step by step guide telling
you how to complete this puzzle:

1) At the bottom of the stairs, go left. There is a yellow Spirit
in this corridor. Splash it with Holy Water if it's in the way.
There is also a very obvious Repellant Arrow on the left side
of this corridor. At the end, examine the coffin and take the
Sea Rooder Stone. Go back down the corridor and up the stairs.

2) At the top of the stairs is an empty plinth. Insert the Sea
Rooder Stone into it, then go back downstairs.

3) At the bottom of the stairs go down the middle corridor. There is
a red Spirit in this corridor. Examine the coffin at the end and
take the Earth Rooder Stone. Return back to the bottom of the stairs,
   but don't go up them.

4) Go back down the left corridor with the yellow Spirit. Examine the
coffin at the end, which should now be empty. Insert the Earth Rooder
Stone. This heals the yellow Spirit. You don't get anything for
healing each Spirit individually, but all Spirits must be healed
to obtain a vital Key Item.

5) Return to the bottom of the stairs. Don't forget that if you need
more Holy Water you can refill it at one of the two jugs at the
top of the stairs. This time go down the right-hand corridor.
There is a blue Spirit here. There's also a Repellant Arrow on the
right side of the corridor. Examine the coffin and take the Sky
   Rooder Stone.

6) Return to the bottom of the stairs and go through the middle
corridor with the red Spirit. Use the Sky Rooder Stone on
the coffin at the end. This heals the red Spirit. Return to
   the bottom of the stairs.

7) Go up the stairs and retrieve the Sea Rooder Stone from the plinth.
Return downstairs and go down the corridor on the right with the
blue Spirit. Insert the Sea Rooder Stone into the coffin. This
   heals the blue Spirit.

*CUTSCENE*

Return to the top of the stairs, where you can claim your prize: Compass
of Light. Er, yay!

Now splash the telportation rune twice with Holy Water and step onto it.

O-----------------O
|--- MAUSOLEUM ---|
O-----------------O

Head back to the main part of the mausoleum. Save your game at the
Lion Fountain before inserting the Compass of Light into the right-hand
statue (remember, just outside the gates leading to the Lion Fountain?).

*CUTSCENE*

Ooooh, shiny. Go into the new portal.

O---------------------O
|--- ANCIENT RUINS ---|
O---------------------O

Something about this place reminds me of Project Zero 1 (Fatal Frame
to most of you out there). Anyway, head straight forward, all the way
along the rocky path and through the gap in the cave wall. On the other
side, pick up the glaring red Binding Arrow (you can't miss it)
before continuing straight forward.

*CUTSCENE*

Walk down the steps and pick up Old Rooder Arrow. Then it's time to get out
of here. However, first you may want to take a look at the two statues to the
left and right of the steps in this room. Remember these two figures, because
those faces will grow frighteningly familiar later on. Now head downwards,
through the gap in the cave wall and back down the path towards the portal.

*CUTSCENE*

Uh oh! The ground is crumbling. Quick as you can, trying to avoid all the
rocks that get in your way, run back to the portal and step through it
(I know the camera angle is annoying, but you should make it).

O-----------------O
|--- MAUSOLEUM ---|
O-----------------O

Phew. Take a step forward.

*CUTSCENE*

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
+ BOSS BATTLE - CHOPPER - Victims, 44 +
+ Sentenced to 921 years. +
+ +
+ Yep, this is the real thing, and it's no joke - you DO +
+ have to get rid of all that health. It's far easier than +
+ you'd think though. I actually find that this is the easiest +
+ boss battle so far, strangely enough, although I suppose +
+ it varies with the player. +
+ +
+ Chopper isn't playing around this battle - unlike the +
+ false battle with him before, he doesn't walk towards you. +
+ He will always be running at his usual fast speed. This +
+ renders it a little difficult to get away from him. His +
+ attacks are still fast and have a larger range than you'd +
+ think by looking at them. His attacks are pretty much the +
+ same as in the false battle - one to three swipes when he +
+ gets close enough to you, and the rather useful attack where +
+ he chucks his axe at you. +
+ +
+ It's perfectly possible, as always, to win this battle without +
+ using a super attack. However, as it gets rid of about half +
+ of his health, it's very desirable to at least try to get it. +
+ The best way of achieving it is when Chopper is about to +
+ execute his throwing attack. You'll know when he's going to do +
+ it as instead of chasing you, he'll suddenly run away from you +
+ until he's at a suitable distance. He'll then shout "Catch!" +
+ or "Take this!" and throw his axe at you. The moment you see +
+ him running AWAY from you, hit the Triangle button to make +
+ Alyssa automatically aim at Chopper. Charge up as powerful +
+ a shot as possible, and if it's about medium or more power, +
+ release it as he's throwing the axe at you. Your shot should +
+ destroy Chopper's axe and he will be stunned for a good few +
+ seconds. +
+ +
+ When Chopper is stunned after successfully countering his +
+ attack, charge up a fully-charged arrow and shoot it at him +
+ BEFORE he completely recovers. This should bind him to the spot. +
+ From here, it should be easy to keep binding him sufficiently +
+ enough to attempt a Super attack. Even if you don't achieve +
+ the sometimes tricky super attack, you'll at least have +
+ inflicted some pretty good damage on him. +
+ +
+ As usual, don't use any special arrows during this battle +
+ and stay AWAY from him - as long as he gets nowhere near +
+ you and you counter/evade (by crouching) his throwing +
+ attack, it is perfectly possible to win the battle without +
+ even taking damage. +
+ +
+ The only way to damage Chopper is by stunning him and damaging +
+ him from that point. After he's recovered from the stunning or +
+ the binding, you can't damage him as he simply deflects all +
+ attacks, even full-strength attacks. +
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

*CUTSCENE*

Congratulations on your victory. You'll automatically receive Clover of Hope.
Run straight forward in the direction Alyssa is facing and go through the open
gates.

*CUTSCENE*

And that concludes Chapter 3! Save your game - the next chapter can get a
little nasty.

 \/  =======================================  \/

You begin the chapter in a forest clearing with Dennis (oh joy), who
will follow you for the time being. Run towards the front of the screen
and through the stone archway.

You'll find yourself on a street after a mini-cutscene. Keep going right
until...

*CUTSCENE*

O----------------------------O
|--- HOSPITAL - RECEPTION ---|
O----------------------------O

You're going to detest this chapter. Not only are you up against TWO
Subordinates, but they're also very tough. For more information on Scissorman
and Scissorwoman, see my Subordinates section.

The music that is playing right now is NOT your new chasing music. Instead,
when Scissorman or Scissorwoman start chasing you later, the music will be
the same as Chopper's was.

On the bedside table upwards and slightly to the right of you is the
Sentimental Item Photo of Mother. Pick it up. The lilac spirit in this room
is probably about to swoop in on you, so back off and head right to find the
Spirit's body on the floor. Unfortunately the sentimental item you just
picked up doesn't belong to this corpse. Just remember where it is. To the
right of the body you'll find a file - pick it up and read it. Now go through
the double doors on the left side of this room.

You can find Lavender Water on the sofa to the right of the doors. There's a
venemously green Spirit in this room, so watch out. Run directly downwards
from the Lavender Water to find key item Labeled Key A on the front desk. Go
all the way to the back right corner of the room to find a body on a gurney.
Use Photo of Mother on it to heal the Spirit. Search the corpse for an
Invisibility Band. There's a useful Holy Water refill point in this room,
along with a save point on the front desk. You're going to want to save it.
Do so!

Go back through the double doors and this time go through the single door on
the right side of the room.

O---------------------O
|--- HOSPITAL WARD ---|
O---------------------O

!! HIDING PLACE - CUBICLE !!
!! CRAWLSPACE ROOM !!

Go downwards and up the stairs.

The first door on your left is locked. The next door on the right is open.
This room is the bathroom. You can use the middle cubicle as a hiding place.
However, I don't recommend this, as when you hide from Scissorman or
Scissorwoman in these cubicles, and they appear to have gone away, you exit
the cubicle only to have them jump back out at you from the alcove next to the
door. Carry on down the corridor.

The next door along, on the left, is important. Examine it to discover that
there is a teleportation rune on the other side, but the door is heavily
locked. In fact, we need 3 Labeled Keys to unlock it. We picked up Labeled
Key A from the reception. Examine the lock next to the door to use Labeled
Key A. One lock down.

Now go through the next door along, on the right. There are no items in this
room, but you can use the crawlspace next to the bed to get to the next room,
which is otherwise locked. Do this now. When in the next room, go round to the
bedside table and pick up Looking Glass. We need this Key Item to continue.
Beside this is a cabinet, and you can see an item gleaming inside it. However,
we can't get to it right now.

Before you use the crawlspace to exit, bear in mind that this room serves as
a far more effective hiding place than the cubicles. Scissorman cannot get you
in this room (although he can get you next door), so you can just stay in
this room until he teleports away. Exit the room via the crawlspace then
return to the corridor.

Head towards the mirror at the end.

*CUTSCENE*

Yikes, here he comes. Your panic metre will have risen halfway, and Scissorman
will be right in front of you. Wait until he gets close to you before
spraying him with Holy Water, then dodge around him. Return back to the room
with the crawlspace (second door on the right from the mirror). It's easily
visible on the map if you need further directions. Go through the crawlspace
and wait for Scissorman to go away, before returning to the corridor.

Out in the corridor, go through the last door on the left and examine the
corpse in the chair for a document. A Spirit will then emerge from nowhere.
Nothing we can do for him now, so return to the corridor. Examine the massive
mirror at the end. Use the Looking Glass.

*CUTSCENE*

O-------------------O
|--- MIRROR WARD ---|
O-------------------O

!! HIDING PLACE - CUBICLE !!
!! CRAWLSPACE ROOM !!

This is Scissorwoman's side of the mirror. Go through the door on your right.
This is the mirror side of the room with the corpse on the chair. Go over to
the chair and pick up Release Form. This is the purple Spirit's sentimental
item. We're not done on this side of the mirror yet. Return to the corridor.
Make your way down and go through the first door on your left.

This is the opposite of the crawlspace room, which can be used as a hiding
place in exactly the same way as on the other side of the mirror. Remember the
room which you are in now does NOT act as a hiding place, but the one through
the crawlspace DOES. Go through the crawlspace and go to the cabinet. Unseal
it with Holy Water and open it to get Lavender Water. The cabinet on the
other side of the mirror will have opened, now. If the coast's clear, go back
through the crawlspace and back into the corridor.

The door on the opposite side is an AWFUL room, don't go in it, ever. All that
is in it is a jar of Holy Water and about a billion purple butterflies. Never
go in there.

Go down to the end of the corridor (not the mirror end, the other end) and
down the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs you will find Photo of Child,
which is the sentimental item of the lilac Spirit we came across first. Now
go right and through the open door at the end. This is the mirror version of
the bathroom, although it's on a different floor. I know I said the bathrooms
are awful, but we have to go in this one. Don't worry, Scissorwoman won't jump
out at you unless you hide from her in here. Simply go into the alcove to the
right of the door and examine the sink to obtain Labeled Key C.

Now we're done on this side of the mirror. Exit the bathroom, go up the stairs
and go all along the corridor to the mirror. Examine the mirror and go back to
the other side

O---------------------O
|--- HOSPITAL WARD ---|
O---------------------O

Scissorman will probably be coming out of a door the second you regain
control. If he does, simply go and hide in the Crawlspace Room (second door on
the right from the mirror, easily visible on the map). Whether he is chasing
you or not, you need to go there anyway. Whilst in the crawlspace room, go
over to the cabinet and open it to get Labeled Key B, then wait for
Scissorman to teleport away if he's chasing you. Return to the corridor.

You can now either heal the two remaining Spirits or just unlock the door to
the teleportation rune to carry on to the next part. If you'd like to heal
the Spirits, follow the box. If you don't, skip the box.

==================================================================
| I'm going to tell you to deal with the spirit on this floor |
| first purely because it'll make things go quicker, but if |
| you're worried that you may die and that you haven't saved |
| it in a while, feel free to heal both Spirits in the opposite |
| order. I say this because if you go to deal with the Spirit |
| downstairs in reception first you get the chance to save |
| your game and refill your Holy Water - it's safer, you'll lose |
| less data if you die here. |
| |
| Back in the corridor, go through the last door on the left |
| (the one closest on the left to the mirror). Use the Release |
| Form on the corpse sitting in the chair. This heals the purple |
| Spirit, who leaves behind a lovely Sigil Stone. |
| |
| Return to the corridor and go down the end with the stairs |
| (the end that doesn't have the mirror). Go down the stairs |
| and through the door on the left to return to the reception. |
| Go left and use Photo of Child on the corpse. This heals the |
| lilac Spirit, who leaves behind a Repellant Arrow. Whilst you |
| are here, where Scissorman can't get you, go through the |
| double doors on the left side of the room to save it and |
| refill your Holy Water. Then return to the upstairs corridor. |
==================================================================

In the upstairs corridor, return to the door on the left side with the
electronic lock. Face the electronic lock and examine it to use both Labeled
Keys B and C on the door. This unlocks it. Enter the room.

If Scissorman was chasing you before, don't worry, he can't get in here.
There is a jar of Holy Water in here if you're running low. Splash the
teleportation rune twice with Holy Water before stepping into it.

O-----------------------O
|--- CASTLE - GARDEN ---|
O-----------------------O

Run left until...

*CUTSCENE*

Now run forwards and read the file on the ground. Then run left and upwards
to pick up Lavender Water. Now run through the gates.

There is a Lion Fountain just through the gate. Refill your Holy Water and
save your game before heading right.

As soon as the camera angle changes, Scissorman will run through the gates
behind you. Keep running in the opposite direction, splashing him with Holy
Water when he gets too close. Eventually you'll reach a door with a seal on
it. Splash it with Holy Water. Be careful, because it takes a couple of
seconds for the seal to break and Scissorman could use this time to attack
you. Once the seal has been broken, enter the castle.

O--------------O
|--- CASTLE ---|
O--------------O

Make your way around the entire room to find two Repellant Arrows and a
Binding Arrow. Do not bother going up the enormous spiral staircase as it
merely leads to a dead end and it takes forever to get up and down it.

Go through the doors on the left side of the room (or on the west side,
looking at the map).

O---------------------O
|--- CASTLE - WEST ---|
O---------------------O

!! EVASION POINT - BROKEN-OFF CORRIDOR !!

Go up the stairs. At the top, you'll hear the noise that tells you that a
Subordinate has appeared out of nowhere. Scissorman is back, and he's right
behind you. Run to the right - make sure you splash him with Holy Water
around the next staircase, as the next part won't work if he's too close -
and go up the stairs. Use the Evasion Point that's straight ahead of you.

*CUTSCENE*

Once he's dealt with, examine the document on the floor next to the corpse to
find out a bit about Scissorman and Scissorwoman. An orange Spirit will then
float through the wall on the left. Ignore it for now. Go back down the stairs
and into the main hall.

O--------------O
|--- CASTLE ---|
O--------------O

If you need Holy Water, go back outside to the Lion Fountain to refill. Now go
through the door on the right/east side of the room.

O---------------------O
|--- CASTLE - EAST ---|
O---------------------O

Go up the stairs and left. At the top of the second set of stairs, you'll
notice that there is another - or possibly the same, only it's switched places
 - orange Spirit. If you look at the gap in the wall on the right, you'll
notice it has no railings. Go over to it (don't worry, you can't fall off) to
discover that you can shimmy along the outside ledge. Do this, shimmying
along to the right, over to the orange spirit's side of the corridor. Press
the O button to duck when you come to a stone gargoyle. Don't worry about the
orange Spirit - even if it flies through you, it won't do anything until you
get back onto solid ground.

When you get to the other side, go to the single door to find out that it's
locked. Don't worry, our journey wasn't entirely pointless. Next to it is
another rail-less gap in the wall. Shimmy along this one and to the right to
get to the kitchen window mentioned in the Spirit's document. Examine it and
remove the loose bar so that you can get through. Go through the window.

O------------------------O
|--- CASTLE - KITCHEN ---|
O------------------------O

!! EVASION POINT - OVEN !!

Open the oven on the left to get Charred Skull, the orange Spirit's
sentimental item. If you continue left a little, Scissorwoman will burst
through the door. Return to the oven that had the Charred Skull in it. It has
turned into an Evasion Point. Use it!

*CUTSCENE*

Return to the door but don't go through it. To the right is a fire. Examine it
before doing the next bit. To the left is a pile of ash. Examine it and use it
to extinguish the flames in the fire. Go right and examine the now smouldering
fire to get "A" Crest.

Before going through the door next to you, you can go over to the other side
of the room to unlock the door which leads back out to where the Orange Spirit
is. Don't exit back to the orange Spirit's area, but stay in the kitchen.
Upon looking around again, you'll notice that someone is missing...
Scissorwoman isn't in the oven anymore! Don't worry, that's just because it
looked like you were going to exit the room. She's not going to jump out from
anywhere.

By the way, if you want to go and heal the last Spirit in the game, you should
do so now. You can find out how in the Spirits section of my walkthrough.

Go to the door Scissorwoman came through in the first place and go through it.

Follow the corridor along and go through the door on the other side.

O----------------------------O
|--- CASTLE - DINING ROOM ---|
O----------------------------O

There is a Save Point and a Holy Water Refill in here. Use them.

Around the other side of the table is a painting. Look at it. Hmm.

Exit through the door on the side of the room opposite to where you entered
(the side that the Holy Water is on).

In the corridor, go through the door on the other side.

O------------------------O
|--- CASTLE - LIBRARY ---|
O------------------------O

Read the document on the table in front of you. It's another of Dick's diary
pages. On a table slightly downward from here is Lavender Water. Now go right.

Scissorwoman will jump out from behind the bookcase (you should have seen me
jump just now!). Splash her with Holy Water before going through the door
behind her.

O---------------------O
|--- CASTLE - WEST ---|
O---------------------O

Hmm, we've been here already. Go over to the gap in the wall on your left and
shimmy along to your left to reach another barred window. Only all the bars
have been broken off. So it's just a window.

You may want to take this chance to wait for your panic to go down, as neither
Spirit nor Scissorwoman can get you here. When you're ready, go through the
window.

O------------------------O
|--- CASTLE - LIBRARY ---|
O------------------------O

You're now in a hidden section of the library. You'll immediately here
Scissorwoman come in the room, but she can't get you here. Go down and take
the "N" Crest from the wall. Then go back outside via the window.

O---------------------O
|--- CASTLE - WEST ---|
O---------------------O

Shimmy back along until you reach solid ground. Yes, I am going to ask you to
do it - go back in the room to the north. The library!

O------------------------O
|--- CASTLE - LIBRARY ---|
O------------------------O

You knew it would happen. Scissorwoman will enter the room from the other
side. Stand still, waiting for her to come to you, before splashing her with
Holy Water and going through the door on the left.

She's still behind you, so keep running. Go through the door at the other
end of the corridor.

O----------------------------O
|--- CASTLE - DINING ROOM ---|
O----------------------------O

She's still chasing you. Refill your Holy Water if you need to (don't worry,
Scissorwoman temporarily stops moving while you do this) and examine the
candlestick on the table. Return it to its original place to drain the
fountains on either side of you.

*CUTSCENE*

Go to each fountain in turn. On the one on the right, insert "A" Crest. In the
one on the left, insert "N" Crest, all the while avoiding Scissorwoman.

*CUTSCENE*

There are now double doors where the painting used to be. Go through
them.

Go through the doors on the other side of this fancy secret corridor.

O-------------------O
|--- ARMOUR ROOM ---|
O-------------------O

My least favourite room in the game. But don't worry. I know it, you
know it, it's obvious: these suits of armour are going to come to life.
However, that's not right now. Right now, you can cross safely to the
other side and go through the door. Do so.

O-----------------------------O
|--- CASTLE - DRAWING ROOM ---|
O-----------------------------O

Oh noooo, the door locked behind you! Well, at least that'll keep Scissorwoman
out.

Have yourself a good look around. When you get near the picture on the north
side of the room (using the map, of course)...

*CUTSCENE*

Epic. That's Lord Burroughs in the picture, by the way. Now try and examine
the portrait again to receive "D" Crest and Book of Entities IV. It seems that
Lord Burroughs was a nasty man. After, you will automatically get another page
of Dick's diary.

*CUTSCENE*

Now we have to save Dennis. Urgh, if he'd just gone home none of this would
have happened! Well, we wouldn't have to bother babysitting him anyway.

Go over to the screen that the film was projected onto and see the shiny
object. Examine it and press the hidden switch. This causes the table in
front of the portrait to rise up. Put the "D" Crest into it. This unlocks the
door.

You may now be able to hear a swiping sound coming from the armour room. I
wonder what that could be? Ahem.

Exit the room... TO YOUR DOOM! (Just kidding.)

O-------------------O
|--- ARMOUR ROOM ---|
O-------------------O

Bugger.

If you have any Sigil Stones, you're in luck. The Sigil Stones can actually
protect you here from hits that would otherwise kill you. However, if you
have no Sigil Stones, or if you run out, one hit from an axe will cause you to
GAME OVER.

You don't have to deal with these just yet. There are four things that look a
bit like iron maidens in the four corners of this room. They're actually
elevators.

    ------------------
--->|.          O   .|       O - Alyssa
    | | . - Elevator
    |x | x| x - Suit of armour
    |x | x|
    |x | x|
    | | |
    |. | .|
    ------------------

We want to head to the one that is indicated by an arrow. The one on your
left. Go over to it and press X to enter it.

O----------------------------O
|--- CASTLE - UNDERGROUND ---|
O----------------------------O

Go right and unlock the door. Yes, it IS important to do this. Now go back
into the elevator you came from and back up.

O-------------------O
|--- ARMOUR ROOM ---|
O-------------------O

You now want to go to the iron maiden elevator in the bottom left of the room.

    ------------------
    |. O .| O - Alyssa
    | | . - Elevator
    |x | x| x - Suit of armour
    |x | x|
    |x | x|
    | | |
--->|.      |       .|
    ------------------

This means passing three suits of armour. The first one swings its axe up and
down. The second one swings its axe from side to side. The third one swings
its axe up and down. You need to time your running so that none of the axes
hit you - so that none of the axes are moving when you run past them. This is
difficult, as you can't actually see the third suit of armour. If you die,
don't worry, after the game over screen you'll restart back in this room.

Do your best to get to the elevator, then go down it.

O----------------------------O
|--- CASTLE - UNDERGROUND ---|
O----------------------------O

Run downwards from the elevator and pick up the Invisiblity Band. This item is
a little useless now, because it's unlikely that you'll be chased ever again
(YAY!) but take it anyway. Then go upwards from the elevator and bust down
the door. Unlock the next door you get to. Now find the elevator in the top
right of this room and go into it, taking it back to the floor above.

O-------------------O
|--- ARMOUR ROOM ---|
O-------------------O

We only need to get to the elevator on the bottom right now.

    ------------------
    |. O .| O - Alyssa
    | | . - Elevator

    |x | x|
    |x | x|
    | | |
    |. | .| <---
    ------------------

You're going to have to run past three suits of armour again, and they use
their axes the same as the ones on the other side, although not with the same
timing. Watch them closely and run across when the time is right. Then go into
the elevator.

O----------------------------O
|--- CASTLE - UNDERGROUND ---|
O----------------------------O

We've unlocked the doors we need to unlock, so go right and down to reach a
bloody area with a switch on the wall. This switch raises two heavy, spiked
metal doors. Passing the first one will take you back to the area with the 3
other elevators. Passing the second will take you to Dennis. It's just a
straight line. So press the switch and just run until you reach the other
side.

On the other side, go through the door on your right.

*CUTSCENE*

Well, that didn't work out, did it? Run towards the front of the screen.
Next to the door you'll find Book of Entities V, for information on
Scissorman and Scissorwoman, or should I say Ralph and Jemima? Then go through
the door on the right.

O---------------------O
|--- DICK'S STUDY? ---|
O---------------------O

What the...?

In the back left corner of the room you'l find the file Alyssa's Drawings.

*CUTSCENE*

Go down the new secret passageway and into a room filled with Alyssa's old
drawings. It would be touching if her grandad didn't have an unhealthy
obsession with her. Go up the ladder on the right.

O-----------------------------O
|--- CASTLE - DRAWING ROOM ---|
O-----------------------------O

*CUTSCENE*

How...mean! Exit the room through the double doors.

O-------------------O
|--- ARMOUR ROOM ---|
O-------------------O

Right, let's try again. For the last time, go directly downwards and dodge the
suits of armour to get to the elevator on the bottom right.

O----------------------------O
|--- CASTLE - UNDERGROUND ---|
O----------------------------O

Go right and down to find yourself back at the switch. Press it and hurry
across to the other side of the room. Once you've made it, go right and
through the door once again.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
+ BOSS BATTLE - SCISSORWOMAN - 22 victims +
+ Sentenced to 396 years +
+ +
+ Wow, different boss music! Scissorwoman has very little +
+ health, as you can see. She can still be a little tricky, +
+ though. This is because: 1) She can teleport. +
+ 2) Your bow and arrow don't auto- +
+ aim for you. +
+ +
+ I'll cover the teleporation first. Scissorwoman teleports +
+ after you shoot her. She teleports after she tries to +
+ attack you. She sometimes teleports just for the sake of +
+ it, sometimes she'll reappear right behind you. However, +
+ as long as you know when she will and won't teleport, +
+ it should only be a minor annoyance. +
+ +
+ Now. The fact that you have to aim your box and arrow +
+ yourself. Basically, you'll have to make sure you're +
+ facing almost exactly in the direction that Scissorwoman +
+ is coming from before holding the triangle button. It's +
+ annoying, but it should get easier as you go along. +
+ +
+ Scissorwoman has two attacks. There's her usual one, where +
+ she'll run up to you and slice at you with her blades. Then +
+ there's the more dangerous one, although it's easy to avoid. +
+ She starts to spin on the spot, and this creates an emormous +
+ whirlwind of energy. If this hits you, it hurts quite a bit, +
+ so just run into the furthest away corner until she stops. +
+ She will then teleport, so you can't sneak a shot in. +
+ +
+ The lucky thing is that your arrows inflict quite a lot +
+ of damage on her. It's easier to complete the battle without +
+ the use of the super attack, because it's easier to achieve +
+ a bunch of medium-chargeds arrow than three immensely powerful +
+ ones. +
+ +
+ I actually softened a little towards Scissorwoman and Capcom +
+ in this battle. This is because when Scissorwoman is chasing +
+ you, she actually hunches over as she runs, and holds and snaps +
+ her blades together in a rather good imitation of Scissorman +
+ in Clock Tower (PSX). This ought to cheer up the veteran +
+ Clock Tower fans at least a little. +
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
+ BOSS BATTLE - SCISSORMAN - 37 victims +
+ Sentenced to 820 years +
+ +
+ Scissorman has FAR more health than his sister. This, I think, +
+ is a very difficult battle if you don't get a super-attack or +
+ a bind with powerful shots in. Even though you have auto-aim +
+ back, this battle is more difficult than Scissorwoman's. +
+ +
+ Scissorman can't teleport. He doesn't need to - he's so fast +
+ that you can only get away for a second when he tries to +
+ attack you. The best you can do is try to send off an arrow +
+ as often as you can. Or you could follow my instructions on +
+ how best to get in a Super Attack, which I really think you +
+ need for this battle. +
+ +
+ Scissorman has three attacks. There's his basic attack, where +
+ he runs up to you and tries to slice you. Then there's an +
+ attack where he'll say "I've a present for you" before sending +
+ off a swarm of electric boomerangs. Unfortunately, the only +
+ way to avoid this attack it to send a fully charged arrow at +
+ Scissorman whilst he's charging HIS attack to pin him. +
+ Lastly there's the attack where he'll do a backflip before +
+ sending off massive blue lines of energy at you in a straight +
+ line. Just move to the side to dodge this attack. +
+ +
+ At some point, Scissorman will stop to laugh at you. This is +
+ when you turn around and pin him with a very powerful arrow. +
+ Keep doing this until he's binded several times, and you +
+ should either hurt him a lot or get the opportunity to do +
+ a Super Attack. +

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
+ FINAL BOSS BATTLE - LORD BURROUGHS - 115 victims +
+ Sentenced to 2280 years +
+ +
+ So it comes down to this. +
+ +
+ Lord Burroughs, or Darling Grampy, has TWO massive health +
+ bars. He's also amazingly difficult. You have a little +
+ more health than usual in this battle, so it makes things +
+ a little bit fairer. +
+ +
+ His primary attack is very dangerous. He will fling a +
+ purple-blue ball of energy at you with a scream that sounds +
+ a bit like "YOUR HAIR!" (Don't ask, that's just what it +
+ sounds like, I have no idea what he's actually saying. +
+ Other people have told me that it sounds like "Go to hell", +
+ which makes more sense than "your hair" XD but doesn't go +
+ with the fact that Dick loves his grandaughter.) +
+ This attack BINDS you. And, just like with Alyssa, if he +
+ binds you 3 times he will unleash a Super Attack. His +
+ super attack kills you in one hit - although it's worth +
+ seeing at least once, as it looks pretty epic. If you +
+ have an arrow that has charged at least three parts, +
+ then you can shoot it at him to interrupt this his +
+ energy ball attack. +
+ +
+ When he chucks these balls of light at you, either move +
+ sideways or duck (I find ducking more effective, when +
+ my fianc tested this he kept running backwards and +
+ forwards like a headless chicken and running INTO the +
+ balls of light). If you are bound, it will take about +
+ ten seconds to free yourself, and that's as long as +
+ you're not bound again. +
+ +
+ When Lord Burroughs get close enough to you, he will swing +
+ his sword and hit you to the ground. He can stab you whilst +
+ you're on the ground to damage you. Also, if you get too +
+ close to him he will pick Alyssa up by the throat and suck +
+ health out of her. This also makes him go into beserk mode. +
+ When he's beserked, he can shoot out three balls of energy +
+ at a time and his other attacks get worse, too. +
+ +
+ When Lord Burroughs has lost about half of his first +
+ health bar, he'll start to use a new attack. Before using +
+ it he'll say "There's no escape!". A red blob will +
+ appear on the floor where you were standing when he started +
+ the attack. If you are standing in the red blob, it will +
+ trap you to the spot, so that you can't move until the +
+ circle is gone. This is bad, as it allows Burroughs to +
+ get some binding shots on you. Just move far away when +
+ you hear Lord Burroughs start this attack. When Burroughs +
+ is beserked, the range of this attack is enormous. +
+ +
+ When he's lost even more health, he'll start using yet +
+ another attack. You'll know when he's going to use it, +
+ as a blue field will appear around his body, and he will +
+ stand in one place before executing the attack. When he +
+ uses the attack, an energywave will shoot out around him. +
+ You need to be very far away from him to avoid this attack. +
+ +
+ If you do manage to bind Burroughs, he can shake off the +
+ binding very quickly, so make sure you either keep using +
+ Binding Arrows or you do another Binding Shot at him. If +
+ you miss he'll be out of the bind in no time. It's near +
+ impossible to do a Super Attack on him. If you do, it's +
+ very useful. I managed it, but now that I think about it +
+ I don't even remember how. +
+ +
+ When he's lost one health bar, Burroughs will start to +
+ say "Ready to give up, now?" every now and again. He +
+ stops where he's standing when he says it. This is a +
+ good chance to shoot a well charged arrow at him. +
+ +
+ Now I'll give you a few tips: +
+ +
+ * Don't trap yourself in a corner. If Burroughs starts +
+ getting too close to you, move to the other side +
+ of the arena. +
+ +
+ * If you're charging an arrow and you see that Burroughs +
+ is about to attack you, just let the arrow go and +
+ dodge the attack. A very well charged arrow isn't +
+ worth dying for. +
+ +
+ * Use ALL your special arrows with the R1 button. And +
+ what's more, if you spam them quick enough, you'll +
+ have him bound three times and you may even be able +
+ to execute a Super Attack. +
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

*CUTSCENE*

You're not done yet! You can STILL DIE. Read on!

After the cutscene, Lord Burroughs will be right next to you. You will receive
a message from your mother. Your aim is to now simply run around to your
mother's head and press the X button next to it. Right next to you is a
massive crack in the ground. You need to run around to the other side of this
and press the X Button on the glowing object that is your mother's head.
Do so and pray that you don't die. (You're lucky you're reading this, the
first time I did this I simply put the pad down after the battle and didn't
know what was going on - I was dead before I could pick the pad back up. If
you die here, you have to do the entire battle all over again.)

Pick up your mum's head.

*CUTSCENE*

Congratulations - you've finished the game! Check out the unlockables
section to find out what you've earned.

By the way, after the end cutscene you'll receive Rooder Points. I have
absolutely no idea what these are for, or how you get them. Perhaps
they were going to have a use in the game, but Capcom simply decided
to leave it out and forgot to take out the Rooder Points?

----------
|COSTUMES| (CT12.1)
----------

Upon completing normal mode, you get a Clear Game, which is basically
the game on Hard Mode. Reload this game and after the opening cutscene
you will receive Wardrobe Key. Go upstairs to Alyssa's room and use
the key on her wardrobe to have access to her five costumes. Bear
in mind that you can only do this at the beginning of the game - if
you come back later, the wardrobe remains locked.

Most of the costumes are quite revealing (something Capcom almost always
does with extra costumes for the men out there), which is a bit
disturbing seeing as Alyssa is only 14. But hey...

White Dress - A white dress not disimilar to Alyssa's Rooder outfit
during the final battle of the game. It's not a toga,
it has two short sleeve and ribbons hanging down from
her shoulders. It is accompanied by black sandals.

Cowgirl Outfit - Denim jeans, a denim jacket and a black bikini top.
Alyssa wears a cowboy hat with this outfit.

Rooder Warrior - This is a proper Rooder outfit, like the ghost Rooders
wore in Chapter 3, Part 2. It's basically a very
revealing suit of armour (so it doesn't really work
well as a suit of armour...what's the point?).

Leather Lady - Leather shorts, leather boots, dark skin-coloured tights
and a leather top that has a hole in it through which
you can see Alyssa's non-existant cleavage.

Boarding School Uniform - Alyssa's default costume.

-----------
|HARD MODE| (CT12.2)
-----------

You cannot access Hard Mode from a new game. It can only be accessed
from a Cleared Game - one that you've already finished (so when you
finish the game on normal mode, make sure you save it). If you ever
delete this Cleared Game, you will have to finish the game again on
normal mode and make another Cleared Game to get to Hard Mode.

At the beginning of Hard Mode, you will get the opportunity to
change Alyssa's costume using her wardrobe upstairs. You can only
do this at the beginning of the game, though - when you return here
in Chapter Two, the wardrobe stays locked.

The Subordinates in Hard Mode are faster and stronger. They also have
new weapons outside of important cutscenes (the cutscenes that are
vital to the storyline - during evasion point cutscenes and such,
his or her weapon will be the Hard Mode Weapon). For instance,
Chopper's axes turn into miniature scythes and he's so fast that
you cannot get away from him.

Your panic metre also goes up by a lot more in Hard Mode. For instance,
one of Sledgehammers hits that misses you will cause your panic metre
to rise to more than halfway. When a Subordinates jumps out of nowhere,
Alyssa will often either have full panic or almost full panic.

Hard Mode is - there's no doubt about it - very difficult. I'm currently
stuck on Chopper's second boss battle (although I'd only died once until
that point, on Corroder's boss battle).

|CONCEPT ART| (CT12.3)
-------------

After finishing the game, you unlock a Theatre on the menu screen.
In it, you can view all the cutscenes in the game and the concept art.
In a couple of the pictures, the ones of rooms, I wasn't entirely

look exactly like the room in the game. I guessed, though.

O----------------------------------O
|--- WELL, THANK YOU VERY MUCH! ---|
O----------------------------------O

Thank you to my wonderful fianc, Jed, who tested this entire walkthrough
for me even though he doesn't like playing this kind of game. (The point
was to get someone who hasn't played this type of game before to test
the walkthrough, and if he could finish the game then it's a good
walkthrough).

Thank you to Capcom for making this game.

And thank you, especially, to you who are reading this walkthrough.
I made it for you. Thank you for using it! Otherwise it would have been
like giving an Xmas present to somebody and finding out that they'd
never used it.
