how to increase mechanical skill???

PLEASE HELP I'm on the first island and I want to make the raft. I already got all the sources but my mechanical skill is still one. How to increase it? Please help!!! ASAP

You have to make furniture and housing,and make tools =)

Build any type of item. Be it houses, furniture, or tools.
And that's all you have to do. The more you build, the higher your skill will go.

For 1st islanders go to shipwrecked beach an collect drift wood and make loads of fire pits and then light them all
