How do I get rid of the Fire Code Warning without having to delete items that are public property in the game?

There is not other way you can get rid of it, but every item you will be selling or deleting like fridges or even windows, will lower it's meter.
You can't take it out but you can buy a extinguisher or place alarms in every room to have less chance of a fire.
You cannot get rid of it unless there is a code for that.

I am having the same problem. I place a house and it says you are in violation of the fire code-but only when I place large houses! I wish I knew how to answer you're question.
Apparently Doors make the fire code go up majorly. So if you have a lot of rooms then you should either get cheaper doors or take out a wall or two.
If you use wood and tile as flooring instead of carpet, the meter won't go up as much. Also, don't buy a lot of rugs; these are apparently flammable!
What you need to do is put some fire alarms and have a fire extinguisher handy at all times
