how to lift the staple

Just purchased this game. In the beginning big monster is trying to get them and they have to lift the staple. I have tried everything and cannot lift it. Help!!

If you are talking about the green chain thing that they need to break, you press the button that appears on the screen (I think it's square)really fast, and I mean keep tapping it quite fast, until it breaks. Hope this helps.
