This may be a bit late but you know how you can pull the lever, and make spikes come up? Get him on them and pull it, he will die.

I know 2 ways to kill him but there might be more. The first one is to just use death on him. It's a level 10 dark skill and you probably wont have it so the other way is to go south a bit and pull the level you find there which makes spikes come up from the ground which kills him in 1 hit. if your still having trouble you dont actually have to kill him its just a useful side-quest which earns you 4000xp
