You're forced to have him. Like sophia and mirage, he just become a party member with no will of your own.

He can't be avoided. Like Sophia and Mirage, he is forced into your party.

Get him in disc 1, I couldn't get him in disk 2 as I had already got him first time going to Shrine of Kaddan :(

Actually there is a way to avoid having Adray post-game, though you wont be able to recruit one of the other optional characters, you'll just have a blank space in your party.

To do that, don't recruit him in disk 1, later, when you get to disk 2, and you return to Elicoor, avoid the queen's throne room, and continue with the story until you have to go see the queen. Save the game right before you see her, then continue with the story.

Adray will join you once you leave the throne room, this is okay, just keep playing, but DO NOT save the game, go straight to the final boss and win. When you get the option to save your cleared data, you'll start from where you last saved, which was before the throne room scene, WITHOUT adray, so long as you don't go back to that room he wont join, and you can do all the post game events without him.
