How do you open the safe, to get the guru's moon?

I think it's one of those safes where you slowly rotate the left analog stick in one direction until you feel the controller vibrate and see the green aura-like animation on the safe. Then you abruptly but slowly rotate the stick in the opposite direction. I think that's what it is.
