I'm 95% sure there are only 16 Colossus, it's either that or 18 but it's probably 16. You can check by going to the main temple and counting the statues.

kilback answered:

I'm sure that there are 17 colossus in the game, the 17th colossus is your character..... The 17th is DORMIN!!! Your character will transform because of killing all the colossus

pikachu777 answered:

No... There are only 16 colossi to beat.

flamingtitan4 answered:

You will turn into the 17th colosus after you beat the last colosus. But you are only in the temple and you can barely do anything so it sucks.

hunter_007 answered:

There are total of 18 colossi 17th being DORMIN and 18th is above the place you start at. To reach that place you have to climb the hill but you need a lot of stamina/grip for that...so atleast beat the game 4 times XD.

*surprised by how few people know that there's a secret 17th colossus*

*clears throat* Okay, listen up...there IS a 17th colossus, which Dormin does not count as...(not in the way of fighting him, anyway...) HOWEVER, you have to beat the game in four different modes...normal, hard, and then time attack for both normal and hard. Once all four have been cleared, THEN the 17th colossi will appear in the secret garden, located above the temple of the other 16. You cannot reach it by the spiral path and door though...you must scale the side of the temple by a certain location, you must do so a certain way, and have a LOT of grip/stamina to do it. Once you defeat the 17th colossus, a pathway will be unlocked to the very top of the temple.

There is another theory to finding the 17th colossus. I read in another forum, a person by the name of LokiKi on the IGN forum, mentioned this. What you have to do is complete the game in all 4 modes, and then walk all the way to the other side of the bridge (the bridge the is connected to the garden at the top of the tower, the one you walk on at the beginning of the game). You have to cross it, all the way over to the north side of the world. Once you cross it, you will see the crack that you came through at the beginning of the game. If you haven't completed the game on the 4 modes, you will just be forced back by the wind when you try to walk through the crack. If you finished the game on the 4 modes, then a cut scene will occur right there. The 17th colossus will break from the wall and chase you, and you have to run back across the bridge back to the temple. LokiKi also stated that if you beat this secret colossus (or Easter egg), you will be able to walk back up the tower on a spiritual plane, and you will see Dormin and the girl (Mono) there (some cut scenes will occur, a short movie, and then it's the end). Most believers in the 17th colossus are saying that it is at the top of the temple, in the secret garden, but that's not possible because the colossus is too big for the temple, which LokiKi also stated. I have to agree, that his theory is possible, considering the fact that I didn't here this from anyone else. Try it out and see what happens. Remember, you have to complete the game on all 4 modes (normal, normal time attack, hard, and hard time attack). Then cross the bridge over to the crack. If you get a cut scene, then well and good, the 17th colossus exists, if not, it probably doesn't. This is because there is most likely no other way because the people have tried a lot.
