This part is really annoying me at the moment because I can't do it. I can get to the top of the platforms but when I get there, there is nowhere to go and I can't jump onto the ledge because it's to far away. Someone please tell me what I have to do to get there

You need an upgrade for clank to fly far distances. It's in Planet Joba, the guy selling it is the one who sold you the RYNO in the first game. At the lab, you should see a blue pad on the ground. Just go on it then hold jump. You should fly, keep holding it and go straight and dodge all of the obstacles. No ledge is too far away.
To do it you have to do it really quickly or you wont be able to do it
