Me an my wife have a bet going on, who will be the first to catch a king salmon. Can someone please tell me how? I can hook them but they either throw the hook or break the line, please give me some advise.

The first thing you do is go to line and pick the heaviest line you got it should be around 20-25lbs. Line breakage prblem solved. Then you go to rod and select a 6foot 3inch med heavy rod now you can fight the fish properly. Well fighting the fish can be easy or hard it depends on the way your boat is positioned. Notice how when the big fish get close to the boat that is when most fish are lost. What I try to do is when the fish comes close to the boat hold the rod tip up as high as you can not letting the line slack. When he runs left move the rod left and when he gets 25 feet from the boat start rising you rod tip high as you can while reeling you should then catch them. Wait until you fish the AMAZON!

get the biggest rod strongest line look for up stream they like that

all good answers I also found playing the drag helps when there is little tension on the line. just make sure you drop it when it jumps or runs or snap!
