In treewood forest, how do you get across?

In treewood forest, the one with the saws in the limbs, you first climb up and crawl on the side of the tree by your arms, then you get to a platform with an arrow that looks like it will shoot you to the other side, but how? I keep falling off into nothingness. I have done the roll thing, tried to butt bounce, tried to jump and cannot get across. Can someone help me please?

Jump on the arrow platform, and then butt bouce (x-when in the air, press x again). You should bouce high onto the next tree top.
