How do I absorb in front of the candles and how do how know which statue comes first

to absorb the darkness from in front of the candles, go to the end of the room and on the left hand side of the alter press the red object. when you go inside defeat a few enemies and on the wall in the next room is an anti-dark charm you can now absorb the darkness. the order is to go from the darkest set to the lightest
The order is 1,2,3,4 for the candles.
