I entered codes for my action replay max (I forgot what version it was) for LA rush but it jams up my PS2.
P.S. I can't figure out how to download stuff on my AR either

Please help :^(

If the AR Max is like My GameShark 2, you require a device that they call a USB Pen drive. It looks like a small pen but is much bigger around shorter and seems to have a little memory in it. Also you possibly can Manually input Codes. See manufacturer's website for further Details.
