My horse hearts never increase anymore from first time I got from takakura.

You need to keep the horse clean and fed, just like any other animal. Talking to it by pressing X by it's head should help, along with snuggling it by pressing the ∆ button, again while near it's head. Giving it enough time to sleep in the barn is also a must. Make sure you put the horse inside at night. Even if the horse won't die, it doesn't sleep much outside and ends up waiting up for you. Mine did the same at first until I started doing the things above. He often fell asleep while we were running around harvesting wild plants.
