How do you beat the big plant thingon harrypotter and the sorcerer's stone

Well first off there is two different ''Big plant things' on Harry potter and the Sorcerer's stone ps2, First one you will encounter is the Venomous Tentactula (Incendio spell challenge) To defeat this you must:
1) Get up close and target the arms(also dodge the green spit(Nice))
2) If you havent already done so equipt the Diffindo spell to either ^(Triangle), O or [] (Square), and cut both the arms of before using it on the head to make it open it's mouth.
3) Also, if you havent already done so, equipt the Incendio spell, and aim for the now open mouth.
4) Keep doing so until all it's health has gone.

If this isnt the one your talking about, then you must be talking about the Devils Snare you will encounter on the quest for the Philosophers stone(UK):
This battle is just like the one mentioned above, exept the fact that you have no where to run away to.
