How to beat Firemane

I can't get past the Firemane boss the second time you go into the waterway when you first meet Balthier and Fran. Anyone have any tips on how to do it?

Its weakness is water (being a fire creature) but I don't remember having water at that point. I would suggest having each character set up with gambits with cure or potion (better off potion as it is quicker) and antidotes as if I remember it does inflict poison. Amalia is important to keep alive, if more than one character dies use a phoenix down on her first as she will ressurect everyone else. So every character gambits of cure/potions, antidote, attack. (In that order)

You pretty much covered all the points BB, all I can say is that Amalia also uses unlimited potions, so don't spent alot. Cast Protect, if you bought it before, and atract him to an area with water on the ground, that will make him keep loosing HP (this really works).

You should also take the time to level up all of your characters some. I know that most people do not like taking the time to level up their characters, but this is why they always lose. The stronger your people are, then the easier this battle will be for you. So, go on and try to level up each character Two or Three levels. Phoenix downs are essential to you winning this battle. If you have some on handy, then use them right away when you need to. If you do not have any handy, then I seriously hope that you can keep Amalia alive so that she can heal everyone with her supply of unlimited potions. If you taught Balthier any magic spells, have him use them to attack as his gun does absolutely nothing to Firemane. Hope this helps.

Well it's weakness is water but sadly you don't have that at this point so magic casting should only be casted on yourself(cure).spread everyone out so when the boss uses it's special attack not everyone is effected.it is very important to keep your guest character alive since she has an unlimited sourse of phoenix downs and potions.since vaan doesn't have a ranged weapon I would suggest you control him and rely on him for curing and cating the blizard spell,but don't hit the boss with fire it will only cure it!

If you have quickenings just use them or set Ally under 60% of ally under 50% cure and kill him fast don't use fire because he will absorb it Hope this helps

just keep hitting it and have the gambit on Balthier and make him do potions after a while Vaan and Amalia should die and you should be Balthier then the firemane dies and you win

This would be so much easier if I had a single water spell at this point in the game -_-

I beat it by attacking non stop and when someone got below 120hp I healed them and when poisend I would use antidote or simple as that
