Wild saurian

The wild Saurian in the ester sand is around level 36. I'd say you could beat it around 40. I forgot what you get, but I do know that it's not good. I also forgot what level I was when I beat firemane. But you could be on level 12 to 13, and beat it. It also depends on what items you got, and luck.

I was a level 7 and beat the firemane. I made Fran my leader and stood back and used potions and phoenix down like hell and made it through okay.

When you first enter the estersand, the saurian is at level 29. Depending on what you have done, it can be challenging. I started killing it when I was at level 15 (pre rogue tomato) by having all 3 quickenings (red spiral, white whorl, pyroclasm), and all of the HP licenses, put my HP over 1500 and MP at about 200. Use the quickenings to deal damage, if it doesn't kill the saurian hold FLEE button and make your way to the outpost, where there is a boy that charges 100 gil to rest, restoring your HP and MP. Repeat until you kill the saurian (outpost resting will not reset the saurian's hp). It gives 2,500 EXP per kill, 2 LP, and occasionally drops a Tanned hide which sells for 77 gil. If it's level is higher than about 34 (use Libra to determine it's level), don't try it because it can OHKO you. By doing this (killing the wolves first), I have gotten to a level 27 Vaan at a little over 35 hours of play time. My goal is to get to level 99 Vaan before defeating the rogue tomato.
