Yes you will get fired in carreer mode if you don't win many, hmm try altering the difficulty level to ameteur.

Then also practise how you play pass the ball around to your players around the pitch gradually advancing nearer to their goal.

Also, make sure you have got your best players out on pitch in their potitions, and that they are not too fatigued, if this doesnt help ask again.
