What did a aura do what did it means of having diffrent colours what did the aura of super saiyan do.

The color of the aura is just specific to the character (Broly is green, gohan is blue, ssj 2 is red, etc.) I don't really think it does anything it just makes them look cool.
Hope that's an OK explanation
