You can't use it as such, once you have bought it, during battles in Dragon Adventure the mini-map also acts as the dragon rader and indicates where the dragonball is on the level if you are near enough to it and if indeed there is a dragonball on that level, though you have to keep your eyes peeled or you will miss it.
