You hold the L2 button at about the freethrow line and hit x and your guy will do the rest

If you have a teammate, and they are close to the hoop, press L2 with X to pass an Alley. If you want to self-alley, stand at about foul line length from the hoop and press L2 and O and he will do a trick and run for it to Alley.
