On level 8 of the game, how do you avoid the bolt of lightning at the end of the game?

Try traveling across the map before it fires, when the radar has the red circle turn 90 degrees and head to the return line. Also when you turn apply full afterburner for a few seconds and then let it go to slow down and then turn parallel to the return line and wait for the next round of the laser. Hope it helps.
