When running use the right analog stick until you lose 2 hearts then tap X+O quickly until the hearts come back again. Keep doing this until you get to the last 100m this is when you should use your speed boost.
P.S make sure you have all your hearts when starting your last lap so you get the maximum speed boost.

When your in these races, stay behind the leader. Just before the last lap starts, go in front of the leader.
At about 230m he will put on a speed burst. Wait until 180m or 175m is left and you should win the race.
At the start and during most of the race, it's best if you push the right analogue stick a little up. This will give you good speed.
