If it don't suit your style, you'll have to find another way. Second, build your final characters up to level 62 or more so it's more easy to attack and defend. I usually choose 2 main attackers to put in the front line. My favorites are Flik and Viktor. Flik is a well-balanced character, so I put Thunder Rune on him and you can choose to use magic or his sword. Viktor, OTOH, is a pure physical attacker. Put Fury rune plus Violence Rune on him, and he's simply unstoppable. For the third attacker, find someone with great physical attack and good defense. Humphrey for example, he's definitely a walking tank. Now put all three on the front row. On the back row, I usually put Hero as the main healer with his Bright Shield Rune. Next I put a good magic user and put him/her with Flowing Rune or Mother Earth Rune. This will help for the party's magic/physical defense and sometimes to heal. A good example is Lorelai. The last one is totally optional; you want to put an extra attacker or another magic user. I usually pick another magic user with Flowing Rune or Mother Earth Rune (pick the rune first magic user doesn't have).
