I bought spyro year of the dragon for my daughter and we were unable to save the game on a card. It said that no card was inserted so we returned it and got anopther one with the same results, whats up?

To be honest, I have no idea. Try inserting the memory card before turning on the console. Then (without inserting the game) turn on the console and then select "Memory Card" after the SCEA logo shows up. Delete any files in the card to make space. If it doesn't work, contact an expert.
Are you using a PS1? Maybe the reason it's not working is because your using a PS2 or PS3 to play the game. If that's the case, I'm pretty sue that it wont be able to save unless your using a PS1 memory card on a PS1 console.
It depends on what console you're usong to play it.
If your using a ps3 it will create a save file for the game but if you're using a ps2 or ps1 you need to use a ps1 memory card. If you don't have one, you could try looking on ebay or amazon for one.

Alright so if you purchased this game as digital Download though the ps3 store Under classic ps1 game you need to go to game look for Memory Card utility click it click create new internal memory card name it The when you start the game up press the ps3 button the one with icon then click Assign Slots the memory card you just created will be there click it then when you press new game it will say it has found new memory card then all you do is click yes to start a save then when in game it will save after you complete a level or go on options and save if you brought the game on Ps1 Then you need to Make sure you own a ps1 memory card the ps2 card's do not save ps1 game's
