Does anyone know a good way to defeat the dragon?

I am trying to get the firestone, and I go past the suspension bridge and there is a man running away from a dragon. I can't defeat this dragon! I have some good moves like Thunderpunch for Cornet, I have three puppets with me with good moves but every time I just get killed by the Windbreath or whatever it has. I am really getting annoyed because I haven't even come near to defeating it and it doesn't even say how many HP it has so I can't even figure out how badly I'm doing! Does anyone know an easy way to defeat it or at least how many HP it has so I can figure out how difficult it's going to be?

You'll have to get ledgem in the forest. Head near to the cave in the woods
And head east. There you can find ledgem. Talk to her and she will
Disappear. Go to the tower of wisdom and talk to ledgem in polansky's room.
Then go back to the wonder woods and talk to her again and she
Will join your party. Or you will have 1 gauge for the sugar candy attack.
