How do I kill the purple monster standing on the gold key door in the first part of toxic factory I keep trying to kill the chomping flowers but they keep growing back and I can't go any farther in this level

Pick up the flower heads as soon as they stop chomping on the ground. Then throw them at the big guy. (P.S. He's an eggplant)
