In order to switch out your party members, you need to press the Circle button in order to bring up the battle menu. Now, once that is pulled up, look through the list of options until you see the one that says switch. Once you see it, scroll down and click on it. You will see two options, the first will be switch party member, and the second option will say exchange Junction. If you see the 'swtch party member' option highlighted, then you should be able to press the X button and change your characters. If you cannot access it, then you need to either switch when all of your characters are together, or when you are in a save point area. You should then be able to switch. Hope this helps.
