The orange Dinosaur in the Training Area.
Hello,
I just started playing this game, and I wanted to know something. If you into the East block Training area, you will see two students. When you talk with them, they will say something about a legendary monster. What I was wanting to was if they were talking about the Orange Dinosaur, and how much HP does he have. I must have hit him with Shiva and Quetzcoatl 5 times each, but he would not die.

Yeah they are talking about T-Rexaur, it is the strongest monster in the training centre, in the early stages of the game it has around 10000 HP but it varies depending on your level since enemies also increase in level as you do. The best way to defeat it that early in the game is to cast blind on it then keep using Shiva as it's weak against ice.

I think the legendary monster they were talking about was Quistis.
Defeating the T-Rexaur is easy. It has a lot of HP, but it's vulnerable to every status attack. You can put it to sleep, turn it to stone, confuse it, or just kill it with a Death spell. My favorite way to kill it is by casting Zombie and following up with Life.
It seems as though its reason for being in the training center is to teach you how to use status attacks. Quistis even uses it as an example in her tutorial on the use of status junction.

T-Rexuar is easy. You can kill it just by attacking without GF. Have 100 quakes junctiones to strength and 100 curagas junctioned to HP, then your all set.

That frigin thing was evil I did 5000 damage or more and I'm a lv 8 still wouldnt die :/
