Date of Question: Jul 4 2005 | Question ID: 32368 I recently re-played Final Fantasy VI, and remembered on my old file that I couldn't free the mog from the wolf man person. It's one time when you go back to Narshe, there is something about a yeti but I forget. When you get to the top of the mountain the mine is under, there is the wolfman and he has a mog hostage. Can someone help? Thanks. |
When the WOLFman says " Stop right there is the little guy is toast!!" or something to that effect, wait a few seconds. Mog will try to leave, and fall off the cliff. Now you have a choice. If you save Mog, he becomes a party Member. If you go to Lone Wolf, you will take his Gold Hairpin(cuts magic cost in half!) I recomend the hairpin, because you get another one later in the game, and you can get mog later too.

Freak on a Leash is right as to how to get past the hostage bit, but DO NOT CHOOSE THE GOLD HAIRPIN! If you let Mog drop, you CANNOT GET HIM LATER. If you do this in the World of Ruin like most people do and let him drop, he disappears entirely. If you do this in the World of Balance and let him drop, he will NOT join your party when you find him later. This also precludes you getting Umaro. Besides, the Gold Hairpin is a barely tolerable Relic - the Economizer that the Brachosaur drops (or that you can steal from the Aquila in the Phoenix Caves) cuts ALL magic use down to 1 MP.
