How do you get the extra characters like cloud and worker8 etc.?

This tip must be done during Chapter Four. Note that you should have about six empty spaces in your formation screen before attempting this.Go to Zeltennia Castle and listen to the rumor called "Cursed Island" Buy a flower from Aeris at Zarghidas Trade City then go to Goug machine city with Mustadio. The screen will fade and go to a scene of Mustadio, Ramza and a steel ball. Go to the bar in Goland Coal City and listen to the rumor of the "Ghost of Colliery" After this, go to Lesalia Imperia and the screen should shown a scene of a bar. When you leave, invite Beowulf to join your party. Now that you have Beowulf, go to Goland Coal City and you will fight 4 battles here and save Reis. After you save Reis you will get a Zodiac Stone that will trigger the steel ball. Return to Goug Machine City again and add the Robot to your party. Now that you have the robot, go to Nelveska Temple. You will fight another robot kill him and you will recieve a stone that will bring Cloud to your world. Now go back to Goug Machine City and you will trigger the time portal machine and it will suck Cloud from the future bringing him to your world. Now go to Zarghidas Trade City and save Cloud from the thieves that are punking Aeris.
Note: if this part didn't work make sure that you killed Dycerag and his Zodiac Soul Adramelk.
When Cloud joins your party all he can do is defend and attack. You'll need to find his Materia Blade so that he can use all of his limit attacks from Final Fantasy VII.
The Materia Blade is located in the Bervania Volcano. Set your party's on Move-Find Item Then go to the highest tall rock and go to the top of it.

Note-you must say yes to aieris when she's selling floors in zargidas trade city or you can't get cloud at the end.

1. In chapter 4 go to goug machine city where there should be a cut scene if you didn't get rid of musdaio where theres a giants steel giant but they can't figure out how to activate it.

2. Next go to goaland coal city listen to the rumors in the bar then go to leisalia and there should be a cut scene in the bar where an man named beowolf askes to join you say yes.

3. Theres 3 floors of the mine first full of chemists thieves and dragons on the second level one of the chemists has a blaze gun(a gun thats shoots ice)its worth stealing if you have a chemist a mediator or use musdaio.

4. On the forth floor there will be a holy dragon you have to rescue and you only get to control 4 characters this time if you already have orlandu this will be alot eaisier once done you get a holy stone and beowolf and reis(dragon form).

5. Now head to goug machine city for another cut scene where ramza put the holy stone in the machine and it activates and joins your party(worker 8).then theres another cut scene where musdaios dad has another machine and wants you to find the holy stone.

6. Go to zeltania and go to the bar and go to the cursed island rumor listen to I then leave prepare up save your game and then go to the island .

7. This battle is hard but all you need to do is kill worker 7new .if you have a mediator or someone with talk skill and monster talk you can get one of the hyudras and then breed it later for a hydra(black one) go in to battle with it and kill it with secret hut on to get a rubber suit: ) anyways after you defeat worker 7new reis will turn into a human and then head back to goug machine city.

8. There will now be a cut scene in where the machine teleports cloud into the house and then cloud runs away.now go to zargidas trade city(beside zeltania castle) and there'll be a battle.

9. Aieris runs away right before the battle and clouds only level 1 and you only gey 4 characters but it's an easy battle all things considered once done cloud joins you! Hes acctually good if you level him up

10. Now go to beverina volcano(not sure how it's spelled but it's the only volcano) have someone with a jump of 4 and move-find-item (a chemist ability) have that person go to the top of the volcano and get clouds materia blade(not to strong but it's worth it because you can now use clouds limit skill !

11. Thats it your done the sidequest but if you've beaten murond temple (near the end of chapter four)and don't want to go directly to orborne to end the game theres another side quest the ten floors of the deep dungeon in that town(i forget it's name but near goug and it's in the area you fight gafgarion in your there in chapter two) w/e hope I helped bye.
