Question for Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back

I understand how to get to the secret level "Totally Bear" but can anyone tell me how to jump across the really big water only a little way into the level? I'm completely stuck...

I think if you hold square you speed the bear up which allows you to jump further than normal. Not 100% sure though since I haven't played it in centuries but it should work.

Hold the 'Square' button down Like Lambo said until you reach the water. When you reach the water, hold the X button down to get the maximum distance on your jump.
